C'est justement sur le terrain judiciaire que l'histoire rebondit aujourd'hui. Le 27 juin, le conseil des prud'hommes de Lens a condamné la maison mère de Metaleurop Nord (devenue Recylex) à verser 30 000 euros à 495 ex-ouvriers de l'usine de Noyelles-Godault, pour « licenciement sans cause réelle ni sérieuse ».  Recylex confirme qu'elle interjettera appel des décisions rendues, ce qui aura un effet suspensif.

Affaire à suivre.

Donating to charity is a great way to get rid of a car when you don't have the time to negotiate with used car salesmen or don't think you can get what it's worth. Donating a car to a charity lets you deduct its fair market value from your taxable income.

Step #1
Make sure the organization is a registered 501(c)(3) charity or a qualified religious organization that can legally accept your donation from which you can rightfully claim a tax reduction. It is also advisable to find a charity that accepts vehicles without charging a removal fee.

Step#2
Use the Kelley Blue Book or IRS Publications 526 (“Charitable Donations”) and 561 (“Determining the Value of Donated Property) to determine the fair market value of your car. If it’s worth $5,000 or more, have the car appraised by someone certified.

Step #3
Receive a tax receipt with the charity’s name and federal tax number, date of donation, donor’s name as well as the year, make and model of the car that was donated.

Step #4
Follow New Jersey regulations on what to do with the title and plates after notifying the MVC and your insurance company that you no longer own or insure the vehicle. Your receipt and completed IRS Form 8283 should be kept in a safe place, you’ll be needing it when it comes time to file your taxes.

How to Donate the Car to Outreach Center

Step #1
Know that for the easiest method and maximum tax benefits, the clear choice for car donations is the popular “Outreach Center” You can simply fill out a form on their Car Donation Website or by calling them on 800.768.7666

Step #2
Outreach Center will give you an idea of whether your car will be able to be used as a program car that can be given in aid of needy children. If the car isn't worthy, it will be sold at auction or for scrap, in which case you can only use the sale value or scrap value. You will get an email or letter back about the decision.

Step #3
Note that in the event that you are pre-approved, you will send Outreach Center your signed title, and they will pick up the vehicle free of charge and have it inspected. If approved, you get a tax voucher in the mail letting you know you can take the fair market value for tax purposes.

Step #4
Sit back, and smile knowing that you did something nice for charity and at the same time got a nice reward for yourself as well.

TIPS
* If the charitable organization is going to make material improvements to your car donation, you must get written notice within 30 days about the use and duration of such improvements and that the asset won't be sold or bartered until the improvements are finished.

* If the fair market value of your vehicle is less than $500, it doesn't matter what the car will be used for. You can take the full fair market value on your tax return.

Dès que je suis descendu de l'avion, j'ai constaté la présence insolite et inexpliqué de plusieurs dizaines de personnes sur le tarmac. Il est possible que ces personnes soient des "services". Même alors, je ne vois pas pourquoi ils se posteraient au pied de l'avion et sur le tarmac. Dans la salle d'enregistrement des arrivées où se déroulent les formalités de migration, l'ambiance est la même. Des dizaines de personnes qui n'y ont rien à faire s'y pressent pour offrir leur assistance aux voyageurs afin d'accélérer lesdites formalités. Pourtant, rien ne justifie cette offre, puisque moi-même, je n'ai pas fait plus de deux minutes pour m'y soumettre. Ma carte d'électeur - qui fait office de carte pour citoyen- et mon ordre de mission exhibés n'ont posé aucun problème. L'agent, courtois, a juste eu le temps d'apposer le sceau "entrée" de la DGM (Direction générale de migration) sur l'ordre de mission.

Ces formalités accomplies, je me suis dirigé vers la salle de livraison des bagages où continue à régner un désordre indescriptible. Des dizaines de pseudos bagagistes prennent d'assaut ce lieu où ne devraient se retrouver exclusivement que les voyageurs. Le contraste est saisissant entre Kinshasa et la situation vécue tant à Kigali ou Arusha. Dans les aéroports de ces deux villes, il règne l'ordre. Pas de bousculade, pas de pseudos bagagistes, bref chaque voyageur récupère ses bagages en toute quiétude. A Kinshasa par contre, c'est la cohue. Malgré une certaine fraîcheur du climat - c'est la saison sèche- il fait chaud dans cette salle à cause de la présence de personnes qui ne devraient pas s'y trouver. Ils bousculent les passagers en quête de leurs bagages, s'emparent des colis et peuvent ainsi disparaître.

Les policiers de la Régie des voies aériennes (RVA) font leur possible pour maintenir l'ordre, mais leur tâche est difficile, l'aéroport international de N'djili étant devenu un véritable "bilanga" (champ) pour de nombreux Kinois englués dans le "qui cherche", faute d'emplois. Cette présence suffocante est également visible à la sortie de l'aérogare et au parking. D'autres "bagagistes" proposent leur service, moyennant rétribution. Cela peut parfois se terminer mal, dans l'imaginaire populaire le voyageur - surtout ceux des vols internationaux- a généralement les poches pleines. On cherche à le "treizer" comme on dit dans le langage populaire pour dire "soutirer de l'argent".

A la sortie de l'aéroport, l'impression est toujours la même. Kinshasa reste une ville sale, encombrée de sachets. Les routes sont aussi peu praticables avec des nids de poule qui ralentissent la circulation. A l'arrivée chez moi à la maison, la première chose qui me frappe est qu'il n'y a pas d'électricité et l'eau ne coule pas du robinet depuis le matin. Pourtant, je suis dans la commune de Lemba dans ce que l'on appelle un quartier urbanisé. La nuit, j'ai dû me rouler totalement dans mon drap pour échapper aux moustiques. Triste.

As I see it, pursuing the Great Commission should be emphasized but in a balanced way, which it certainly is not. The pendulum toward evangelism, producing an abundance of low-lying, marginal fruit, needs to swing in the other direction toward discipleship.

The largest church in America is not Roman Catholicism; it’s lapsed Catholics, those who have left because they see no value in attending. There may be as many as 30 million lapsed Catholics.

The largest Protestant church isn’t Southern Baptist, it’s lapsed born-again believers, those who have abandoned their churches in favor of secular activities. There are at least 20 million of them—20 million.

These two groups, lapsed Catholics and lapsed evangelicals, could be as large as 50 million people; and there is nothing being done to reach out to these people—nothing, nada, zip.

Why do you think that is?

It’s because it’s easier to go after fresh, new faces than try and reconnect with those who have been milled—crushed, ground, and discarded. The Scriptures say it’s easier to overtake a walled city than a person offended. When there are millions of them—and there are, something needs to be done to reach out to the wounded.

The Great Commission is not being fulfilled in our generation—not even close. It’s like we paint the front of the house every month but never paint the back of it. It looks good from the street but, upon careful inspection, much of it is uncared for and rotting.

If you want to help your church, your community, and America get stronger, reach out to an offended Christian. It’s thankless work for a while but, over time, it will strengthen the core of who we are. Plus, it’s a clear directive from the Lord.
