Sen. Tom Harkin Pegs the Irony Meter Off the Scale

Is it the water in Washington D.C. or the water in Sen, Harkin’s home state of Iowa that cause

Is it the water in Washington D.C. or the water in Sen, Harkin's home state of Iowa that causes extreme dementia that manafests itself when near a microphone and members of the media?

I can't answer the question posed, but one thing I do know, Harkin is a full-on nutcase, and no better example of that is in this piece of trash spoken during a conference call with Iowa reporters.

Republican presidential candidate John McCain's family background as the son and grandson of admirals has given him a worldview shaped by the military, "and he has a hard time thinking beyond that," Sen. Tom Harkin, D-Ia., said Friday.

"I think he's trapped in that," Harkin said in a conference call with Iowa reporters. "Everything is looked at from his life experiences, from always having been in the military, and I think that can be pretty dangerous."

Harkin said that "it's one thing to have been drafted and served, but another thing when you come from generations of military people and that's just how you're steeped, how you've learned, how you've grown up."

I'm really confused here, just what is it the Democrats believe about the military?

During the Bush/Kerry campaign military service was of great import to the extent Kerry used his mostly phony record as a brickbat tossed at the "AWOL" Bush.

Al Gore, um excuse me, The Goracle as he's now known used the same tactic against Bush. Military service was important, and Gore served in Vietnam while Bush just flew around in airplanes in the National Guard stateside.

So yea, I'm confused as to just what these nimrods at the head of the Party of Democrats think.

Not only that, in Harkin's case, he's now claiming military service, at least those that volunteer and those with long family histories of service are somehow "dangerous." MeThinks Harkin needs to shut his piehole considering he at one time felt military service so important to lie has ass off about his record.

Harkin made a 1984 boast that he had flown F-4s and F-8s on combat air patrols and photo-reconnaissance support missions in Vietnam. Or was was combat sorties over Cuba when he corrected himself when challenged by Senator Berry Goldwater.

Harkin finally acknowledged that he had never seen combat — that his military experience consisted of ferrying damaged aircraft for repairs from Japan to the Philippines.

Now THAT's dangerous, not that he'd give one wit in the midst of a political campaign pitting two flawed Dem. candidates against one Rep. flawed candidate. And if he can get his "side" into the WH it's all for the "better."

As it is for Harkin to go to the mat in full support of the Ethanol scam for his states corn growers that has contributed to the current food shortage chronicled nearly daily in the world's media. You want dangerous Harkin, that's it, all for the sake of expensive subsidies for shifting corn from the food chain for a use as a fuel source.

Harkin, you're a despicable asshat. And DANGEROUS to boot.

Bush the blessed American hero!
By Right-wing Larry
This is an outrage! Just because Bush supporters

Bush the blessed American hero!
By Right-wing Larry

This is an outrage! Just because Bush supporters have a lower average IQ than Obama supporters does not make them any less holy. Bush followers are like Jesus’s disciples; Holy men who realize that Bush was chosen by God to lead us to victory over evil. I cannot imagine anyone getting angry with Bush since he is a man of God, if not God himself. To get mad at Bush is to get mad at God and that is bad. It seems like Bush will have to love all those who hate him with B-52 bombers to make them think clearly and see the light.

We must instead get mad and love our enemies like former CIA asset Osama Bin Laden and installed dictator Saddam with bombs and torture, the way Jesus would have liked us to do. Truly, people who think for themselves are evil and are with the devil. Jesus and Bush will work side by side to bomb the living crap out of our enemies. When Jesus says love thy enemy, he means love them with B-52 bombers and Bush clearly understands that.

Support the troops in Iraq since in a year we will all be in Iran with them; most of all support your President. Bush is truly excellent and a perfect being as God created him. Therefore, we must all learn to shut up and worship him as well to be holy and one with God. Absolute faith requires that one blindly follows Bush and must trust that Bush's way as the only and right way to Heaven. Thank God we have God's supreme son Bush leading the country to victory over evil.

Bush is loved by 59,054,087 patriotic Americans

Bush is God's chosen one to lead us to victory over the rest of sinful humanity. Before Bush, we were a pathetic, liberal nation of sex, sin, and evil. Now that Bush is our president we are once again a nation of supreme faith and holiness. We no longer care about making profits or money. Thank God for Enron, Halliburton, and the Carlyle Group; all these holy companies will lead us to triumph over evil.

How can someone ever hate Bush? It is not as if he started a war for no reason or has many scandals. Also, it is not like he bankrupted the country into the largest national deficit in United States history. It is not as if the gap between the poor and middle class and the rich is getting wider. Like our famous beloved Nazi Arnold says, stop being such “economic girly men!”

Some people say that Bush benefited from 9-11 politically, but that cannot be true since Bush is perfect, is loved by all, and does not sin. Bush is beyond Enron, money or greed; Bush must be respected. The Patriot Act will allow us all to love Bush and worship him correctly; too many rights only lead to sin and that is bad.

Bush has restored faith into our blessed nation!

For those North Koreans who are starving to death, I say that Bush will love you as well, just not now. Bush could liberate and spread freedom to your country but God has told Bush not yet. Before Bush will liberate and eliminate WMD's from North Korea, he must first conquer a country that has no WMD's first in order to teach North Korea a lesson. I believe Jesus has instructed our great leader Bush to wait another 10 years before he will liberate the starving people and the WMD's from that unholy dictator.

For all those innocent Iraqis that died, Bush saved them and now they are in Heaven. Therefore, Bush is truly a compassionate conservative and loves everyone. There are many ways to love someone and sometimes bombing people into Heaven is the fastest and right thing to do as John Ashcroft, Colin Powell, Dick Cheney, and Ariel Sharon will all agree.

Real Americans voted by Real American traditions!

Bush is the future and everyone must love him. There can be no dissent. It is un-American to disagree and we must all follow Bush to glory. Praise God for giving us a leader like Bush! Truly, I say unto thee, we must all vote for his successor John McCain in 2008 and 2012, Amen.

Why or why Mike? You already had a detailed script chock full of pandering for your gun loving, Government-off-of-my-back audience. Why stoop so low?

I guess you can take a guy out of the race but you can't take race out the guy

Interestingly, this is man that was just recently defending Barack Obama:

Here he is praising Obama as "Mr. Vertical":

Larry Sinclair has just provided an update about the ongoing Chicago Police investigation of the murder of Donald Young, the gay choir master at TUCC, in December of 2007. Sinclair has provided the Chicago Police with phone numbers he allegedly was given by Donald Young, shortly before his death. The following exerpt is from Sinclair's blog:

"In my cooperation with the Chicago Police Department, I provided them with all the phone numbers I had provided the Obama Campaign as requested. I was told by the CPD that once they had received the numbers from me, then the CPD would obtain a Grand Jury Subpoena to obtain the phone records directly from the cell Phone company.

Now that leads me to the question: Will the Chicago Police Department subpoena the records of Barack Obama and Rev. Jeremiah Wright in the investigation of the murder of Donald Young?"

Read more about the Allegations regarding Obama's drug use, down low activity and possible knowledge of Donald Young's murder here:

TED KENNEDY HOSPITALIZED WITH SEIZURE

From the Associated Press

BOSTON (AP) — Sen. Edward M. Kennedy was airlifted to a hospital early today after suffering a seizure at his home, and did not appear to have had a stroke as initially suspected, his spokeswoman said.

The 76-year-old Democrat, the lone surviving son in a famed political family, was undergoing tests at Massachusetts General Hospital to determine the cause of the seizure, spokeswoman Stephanie Cutter said.

"Senator Kennedy is resting comfortably, and it is unlikely we will know anything more for the next 48 hours," she said. Kennedy's wife, Victoria, was with him at the hospital, Cutter said.

Kennedy went to Cape Cod Hospital on Saturday morning "after feeling ill at his home," Cutter said. After discussion with his doctors in Boston, Kennedy was taken to Massachusetts General.

An official who declined to be identified by name, citing the sensitivity of the events, had earlier said that Kennedy had stroke-like symptoms. The hospital declined to comment on his condition.

In October, Kennedy had surgery to repair a nearly complete blockage in a major neck artery. The discovery was made during a routine examination of a decades-old back injury.

The hourlong procedure on his left carotid artery — a main supplier of blood to the face and brain — was performed at Massachusetts General. This type of operation is performed on more than 180,000 people a year to prevent a stroke.

The doctor who operated on Kennedy said at the time that surgery is reserved for those with more than 70 percent blockage, and Kennedy had "a very high-grade blockage."

On Saturday, Hyannis Fire Lt. Bill Rex said a 911 call came in from the Kennedy family compound at 8:19 a.m. A man was transported to Cape Cod Hospital and transferred by air at 10:10 a.m. from Barnstable Municipal Airport to Boston.

David Reilly, a spokesman for Cape Cod Hospital, said that Kennedy was brought to the hospital around 9 a.m. and stayed for about an hour before being flown by helicopter to the Boston hospital.

Sen. John Kerry of Massachusetts did not talk to reporters when he arrived at the hospital shortly after 1 p.m.

Kerry later issued a statement, saying that Kennedy "been a fighter who has overcome adversity again and again with courage, grit, and determination. Teresa and I are praying" for Kennedy's family.

Kennedy, 76, has been in the Senate since election in 1962, filling out the term won by his brother, John F. Kennedy.

Kennedy is the lone surviving son in a famed family. His eldest brother, Joseph, was killed in a World War II airplane crash. President John Kennedy was assassinated in 1963 and his brother Robert was assassinated in 1968.

Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama, beginning a tour of hospitals in Eugene, Ore., told reporters that he had been in touch with the senator's family.

"Ted Kennedy is a giant in American political history. He's done more for health care than just about anybody in history. We are going to be rooting for him. I insist on being optimistic about how it's going to turn out," he said.

Obama's rival for the Democratic nomination, New York. Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton, also issued a statement.

"My thoughts and prayers are with Ted Kennedy and his family today," she said. "We all wish him well and a quick recovery."

Kennedy gave Obama's presidential campaign a big boost this year with his endorsement and has campaigned actively for the Illinois senator.

Kennedy was preparing to host the annual Best Buddies Challenge event on Saturday afternoon, a fundraiser for the Best Buddies organization founded by Anthony Kennedy Shriver that helps people with intellectual disabilities.

Hundreds are expected to participate in the event, which started with a 100-mile bicycle ride from the Kennedy Library in Boston to Hyannisport, and closes out with a concert at the Kennedy compound.

A man walking by Massachusetts General was startled by the news when he asked about the reason for the large media presence.

"Ted? Is he all right? Jeez, I'm taken aback. I just saw him on television yesterday," said Jerry Leonard, 76, a retired bartender.

"He's a Kennedy. His name is synonymous with this area. I'm a Bostonian, too, and he's done a lot for us around here and for the senior citizens in particular. I don't know him but I feel a connection."

I finally made it to the United Astrology Conference in Denver, but the Associated Press got here first. Unlike in days of yore, when the wire services had a field day making fun of astrology, this AP article gives astro the benefit of the doubt. The AP reporter got the point that having the correct birth time is essential to making an accurate forecast.

I was happy to see that the new 11 a.m. birth time for John McCain first reported by Astrology Mundo, after being broadcast in a Mother's Day ad, got some play at the opening ceremony, which I missed (See "Breaking News: New Birth Time for John McCain," May 11). Of course, the maternal memory of a 90-year-old may not be reliable, but in the absence of military records, it's worth looking at.

A new birth time for Barack Obama was also announced at the session by Dallas astrologer Joni Patry. She says an aide to Obama revealed to her that the Democratic hopeful was born at 7:11 p.m.

Here's the link to the AP story:

Hillary Clinton, in an effort to justify why she is staying in the race, has been saying lately that

Hillary Clinton, in an effort to justify why she is staying in the race, has been saying lately that she believes she is the better Democratic candidate and more likely to beat John McCain in the general election. Obviously its debatable whether she would be more likely to win than Barack Obama, but as far as claiming to think she is the better candidate, I am fine with that. I don't agree, but if she didn't think she was better, then she shouldn't be running anyway. If she just stuck to that reasoning of, "I think I am better and the race is still close, so I am continuing to fight," that would be totally fine with me.

What gets me annoyed is her constant trumpeting of other mostly lame and misleading reasons for continuing her candidacy. Lately she and her campaign have been playing up the fact that she has been winning the votes of white working class voters (and various subsets of that group) by large margins over Obama. Her huge win in West Virginia on Tuesday is a perfect example. But, basically they should just straight up say, "Look, we are owning Obama with the votes of 'white-rural-poor-ignorant-racists.'

Jon Stewart touched on this topic and made it into a parody at the expense of the voters in West Virginia, but more than finding it humorous, I just find it downright sad and offensive that these types of voters still think Obama is a Muslim, vote strictly based on skin color, etc. It's kinda troubling that so many people like this actually exist in this country. As Mr. T would say, "I pity the fool." I do pity the fool who is ridiculously ignorant or blatantly racist or... both.

It is ridiculous to me to hear Senator Hillary Clinton supporters say that they won’t vote

It is ridiculous to me to hear Senator Hillary Clinton supporters say that they won't vote for Senator Barack Obama in the November general elections against the Republicans?! I am perplexed. How can true democrats say that?

· Whose interest do the Clinton supporters have at heart? Hillary's or America's?

· What is more important to Clinton supporters – women’s interests or Hillary's interests?

This race is about America's future, not Hillary's future. Hillary’s future is quite secure thank you very much.

· Are Hillary's supporters irresponsible or are they just not understanding what is at stake?

· Are Hillary's supporters willing to sacrifice all women's rights for Hillary's 'rights'?

There are a plethora of things that I would NOT want Senator John McCain ("McBush") to be responsible for that affects any American. Three things that will be front and center as we go into the future that I wouldn't want McBush to have anything to do with are:

(1): Appointing Supreme Court Justices (A lifetime appointment)

The next President of the United States of America will appoint at least three members to the Supreme Court probably during his first term. These appointments will have significant ramifications for the long term. Supreme Court Justices who will probably retire during the next 4 years are:

· Ruth Bader-Ginsburg, 75

The way these Justices think and what they believe will affect my life, your life and the lives of our children and our grandchildren and maybe even their children's life for better or worse!

Last week in a speech McBush made reference to the 'type of Justices' he would appoint if he was elected President. He used code words such as “court presumes to make law instead of apply it." That's a blatant attack on Roe v. Wade. It is an attack because the implication is that each individual State has the right to interpret the law anyway that state wants to interpret it. That means that conservative Republican governed states like Georgia for example, could chose to make abortions illegal despite the reason for the abortion i.e. health reasons or rape. The central argument of Roe v. Wade is that abortions are permissible for any reason a woman chooses, up until the "point at which the fetus becomes ‘viable,’ that is, potentially able to live outside the mother's womb, albeit with artificial aid. Viability is usually placed at about seven months (28 weeks) but may occur earlier, even at 24 weeks. The Court also held that abortion after viability must be available when needed to protect a woman's health.

McBush's coded message was to the conservative Republicans letting them know in 'their language' that he intends to appoint CONSERVATIVE JUSTICES who will most likely vote similar to the way Clarence Thomas, 60, John Roberts, 53 and Samuel Alito, 58 does – all who are extremely conservative in their philosophies and interpretation of the law. That means that America will be subjected to their conservative thinking and the conservative laws they implement for the 20 to 30 years! What damage can these Justices do in 20 to 30 years!!! Please think about that. Think about how these conservative Justices can turn back the legal hands of time. It is VERY frightening!

(2): Ending the War in Iraq

As of March 2008 the war in Iraq has cost Americans $501 Billion! Think of all the ways that money could have been spent in America? Think about the pre-school and after-school programs that could have been paid for. We could have paid for health care for all Americans. We could have created and developed a solar energy program that would have put hundreds of thousands of Americans to work. Think of the bridges and roads and tunnels and sewage systems that could have been repaired and that could have put hundreds of thousands of Americans to work. The Iraq war is costing America $3 BILLION a week. Yes, every 7 days $3 BILLION dollars - in some estimates more - is wasted on a war that has no foreseeable solution and no end in sight. Our troops have done everything they have been asked to do -- over and over again. Our troops have done a GREAT job! It's time our troops came home!!! Yet McBush wants our troops to stay in Iraq for, according to him, up to 100 years. McBush further clarifies his statement by saying that our troops would be in Iraq in a non-combat capacity. With all due respect, can YOU picture American troops being in Iraq without being fired at -- for up to 100 years??? What is John McCain thinking??? He has no idea about the culture of the Middle East! Al-Qaeda's main objective is the end of foreign influence in Muslim countries. That’s why they traveled to Iraq to attack our troops when this war began – just because we were there! So McCain wants to stay there for up to 100 years!!! To do what? Antagonize Al-Qaeda??? What is McCain thinking??? Or should I say McCain is NOT thinking!

(3): The economy

Most Americans can’t afford more of the same economic non-plan that Bush has subjected us to for the past 8 years -I know I can't! McBush knows even less about the economy than George W. Bush. I shudder to think that with McBush as President we would have the same type of fiscal frivolity in the White House -- AGAIN! I don’t know what I would do if the cost of living kept skyrocketing the way it has under George W. Bush while salaries remain where they were 15 years ago! Can you afford to pay $10 a gallon for gas? That will probably be our reality with McBush as President. Four years ago I paid $1.30 a gallon for gas, earlier today I paid $4.07! Let’s not talk about the cost of food, electricity, water, child care, health care, cell phone, cable, etc.

What will the Hillary supporters who choose not to vote for Senator Obama do IF McBush is President?

· Will they can congratulate themselves and smirk for a bit?

· Will they pat themselves on the back when the US troop casualty count comes in each month? Will they feel proud that they helped to perpetuate that?

· Will they chuckle to themselves as the dollar continues to weaken and friends and family can't find jobs in America, knowing they had a hand in that too?

· Will they grin as more conservative judges are appointed to the Supreme Court?

· Will they laugh to themselves and say "yeah, but we sure taught the DNC and America a lesson, didn't we?"

So why would Senator Hillary Clinton’s supporters not vote for Senator Barack Obama in the general elections?

Again, whose interest do the Clinton supporters have at heart? Hillary's or America's?

OK, so John McBush revealed his most recent new and improved campaign strategy -- he has had a new one every week for the past month!

The premise of the speech was to invite Americans to visit Fantasy Island with him to the world that lives in the deep abyss of his futuristic mind.

In a speech in Ohio, McBush borrowed Doc Brown’s (Back to the Future, Michael J. Fox, 1985) time machine and travelled in his subterranean psyche to 2013 (where he’ll be 77 years) to tell us what his make believe America will look like at the end of his first term:

I could tell you some more of his fantasy ideas, but guess what? I am exhausted!!! How is he going to ‘change the world’ so profoundly and quickly in such a short period of time??? He MUST have a magic wand. Don’t you think? I’m not making this up; these are quotes from his speech!

McBush stated in his speech that it is important for candidates to lay out "what they plan to achieve, not with vague language but with

I mean, wow, did he forget what he was pontificating while in the middle of pontificating???

Is this what we can expect for the next 6 months from the presumptive Republican nominee, pure fantasy spin? McBush should start a reality television show -- he is imaginative!

This reminds me of the movie Rush Hour, when Chris Tucker said to Jackie Chan, “Do you understand the words comin’ outta my mouth?” Play along with me for a minute. If John McBush said the words that Chris Tucker said, my answer, if I was Jackie Chan, would be “No I do not understand the words comin’ outta your mouth John McCain!”

I mean really, John McCain is asking us to travel with him to a futuristic fantasy island façade plus he’s asking us to believe his malarkey (Senator Joe Biden has never used a more appropriate word)! If you don’t speak Gaelic, that means exaggerated or foolish talk, usually intended to deceive. I mean really, how insulting! Isn’t this supposed to be an election about issues???

Yes, McBush tossed out a few non-specific insinuations about how to "reform the health insurance market" and "reforms to the way we acquire weapons programs" and he tossed in a few specifics, including "a reduction in the corporate tax rate" and the building of "20 new nuclear reactors." But when it came to specifics about Iraq he offered no solutions. None. His magic wand did not provide him with solutions just artistic inspiration. He only knows that the "Iraq war will be won by 2013". He has no idea how to win it, he just fantasies that it will be won and he wants us to play along. Just a few weeks ago in real time 2008 , he said he would be happy if America would occupy Iraq for up to 100 years. (I’m rolling my eyes?)

This vague language and fuzzy ideas are coming from the ‘straight-talker’? (Again, rolling my eyes!)

This is the same type of reckless nebulous talk he engaged in when he said that Senator Obama was Hamas’ candidate!

John McBush’s fantasy filled indefinable foolish ideas for America is misleading and an illusion. Why anyone would vote to put this “I don’t know anything about the economy” Republican in office is beyond my comprehension!

On Thursday, Bush assailed Obama for his plan to meet with dictators, comparing the policy to appeasement during WWII. The fallout illustrates precisely why the Democrats will unite for the general election, regardless of how the nomination imbroglio concludes.

Take a look at the breadth of the Democratic establishment rushing to defend Obama in the wake of Bush's verbal assault. The list includes neutral bystanders such as Joe Biden, Harry Reid, and Rahm Emanuel, while even Hillary (!) chimed in with support. A party always unites in the face of an external foe, especially one almost universally despised. If Bush continues to involve himself, the Democrats (and many independents) will constantly revive their fervent anti-Republican sentiment. If Bush doesn't stop spouting off, the election will turn into a referendum on the past eight years - spelling certain doom for McCain.

Let me begin by saying that I am not a fan of Cokie Roberts. She is a glaring example of our elitis

Let me begin by saying that I am not a fan of Cokie Roberts. She is a glaring example of our elitist media that likes to tell the masses what they are and are not thinking. That said, I could not help but think that she has Democrats' number with this column in the Jewish World Review.

The Republicans are licking their chops. They are just waiting for Obama to officially become the Democratic nominee because they know that there is no way in Hell that he can win. And who do we have to blame? It certainly isn't the voters. We have made it very clear that our choice as nominee is Hillary (just look at the popular vote). No, it is the Democratic leadership, losers every last single one of them (and I mean that literally, not figuratively), that are to blame, as Roberts points out:

Democrats seem intent on nominating Barack Obama, in the face of mounting evidence that Hillary Clinton would be the stronger candidate against John McCain in November. And they only have themselves to blame.

Yes, the Clinton camp made strategic blunders that allowed Obama to score heavily in Republican states where few Democrats vote. But the real culprit is the party's stupid, self-destructive nominating system

Cokie isn't merely taking swipes at the Democratic Party, she makes a strong argument that the nomination process is designed to nominate a sure loser. First she contends that it is set up to annoint a nominee early on before a relative unknown (like Obama) can be properly vetted. Secondly, if something does come up (Rev Wright for example), it is nearly impossible for a challenger to catch up in the delegate race.

Since Feb. 19, seven states have voted. Clinton has won four — Pennsylvania, Texas, Ohio and Rhode Island —building up a popular-vote margin of 483,000. Yet her total gain in delegates was exactly five. In Texas, she won by more than 100,000 votes, but because of that state's ridiculous rules, she actually came out five delegates behind.

How can that outcome possibly be fair? How can it possibly benefit the party?

Not only that, most of Obama's delegate advantage comes from small Republican states where Obama racked up big victories that gave him the delegate lead. According to "the boyz", this constitutes "The Math" they keep talking about. Their math is a little fuzzy, though, as Roberts points out:

Obama built up sizable margins in small states that Clinton was foolish enough to concede. His delegate advantage in Idaho, Kansas and Louisiana — three states that will never vote Democratic — was a total of 38. By contrast, Clinton handily won three large swing states — Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Ohio. And yet, because of party rules, her combined marginal gain amounted to 28 delegates.

I'm not sure that Clinton conceded those small states. They have very small Democratic populations who are given too much importance in my opinion. I would guess that most Democrats in Idaho and Kansas, for example, are the very same "liberal elite" that are Obama's core constituents. They are concentrated around college campuses and the like. Those states don't have the groups that REALLY make up the Dem base (working women, latinos, blue collar workers) that have been rallying to Clinton. That's why they have gone with such large margins to Obama, and as Roberts points out, their delegate representation is wildly disproportional to mainstream Democrats in states like Ohio and New Jersey.

As Hillary said last night, it's the map, not the math. Roberts seems to be making the same argument here. The "math" of the nomination process is flawed, and in many ways designed to nominate a sure loser. As a side note, even with "the math" in his favor, Obama still had to sideline MI and FL to get it to work. SD's need to focus on the electoral map, and who has the best chance to defeat the Republicans in the fall. The votes that may very well win Obama the Democratic nomination will likely have no impact in the fall as their states electoral votes will surely go to McCain.

Finally, Roberts makes the argument that Democrats would rather avoid any charge of racism than actually win an election, even if that charge of racism is absolute BS:

So why don't Democratic leaders and superdelegates face these facts and shift to Clinton? One reason is race. It's true, as Obama says, that being black in America has hardly been a political asset, given the fact that he's the only African-American in the U.S. Senate.

But at this time, in this party, being black is an enormous asset. Given America's long, torturous path toward racial justice, many Democrats simply cannot imagine denying the nomination to the first serious African-American candidate for president.

From a moral perspective, that's a noble judgment. From a political perspective, it could cost Democrats the White House.

But this is Obama's secret weapon, and Hillary supporters have known this for some time. Those that have been bold enough to make such an argument have been lambasted by Obama's race-baiting campaign and his allies in the media (ask Geraldine Ferraro). It has gotten so crazy that if you try to point out any weakness in "The One"'s campaign, you risk being labled a racist. Well, this ploy is not working with more than half of us in the Democratic Party anymore. And as for it working on the Republicans? Yeah, good luck with that.

by an Obama Who? writer;

In protest of the treatment of Hillary Clinton by the news media the National Origination of Women is asking that everyone keep their televisions off of MSNBC, NBC, AND CNN on primary day, May 20th. Please watch nothing but Fox News that day for election results and everything else. Do not give these other news stations one second of your media time.

Has anyone noticed that over the last week Hillary has been dismissed by the media as being totally unimportant? They are giving her no coverage at all. Then this morning I heard on tv, watch Tuesday night for the all important Oregon results, totally dismissing Kentucky. Why not though, Obama has dismissed Kentucky totally and will not even go there to campaign. I sure hope a lot of Kentucky people are aware of this as well and get out there in droves to vote for Hillary. Right now every single one of their votes counts. That is one way to get the media’s attention. Small numbers of voters they can ignore, large numbers they can’t. They are projecting Oregon will go to Obama. He spinsters try to say that the better class of voters vote for Obama then the lower class people who vote for Hillary. They claim there are more elitist types in Oregpn and more college kids who will all vote for Obama. Really? I’ve got a couple of friends in Oregon who are college professors. I always thought they were down to earth, hard working people who had a lot of stamina and brains enough to see through someone like BO. It drives me nuts the way the media has crowned BHO the king and totally dismissed the little lady since she needs to get back to the kitchen.

This weekend I am going to be out here and working for Hillary. I am going to donate, call everyone I know in every state I can think of and ask them to donate, blog like mad and get the word out that right now every vote counts. Obambie may get the most delegates but what we are after is the popular vote. If Hillary can get people out in mass to vote for her in Kentucky and get people out in Oregon when Puerto Rico has their primary she will have the popular vote even without Florida and Michigan. We cannot let the media discourage us and we can’t let them rule this presidential election. We do have resources, we have the blogs and we can reach a greater number of people than the media can just by blogging. This whole thing is being done to discourage people who voted for Hillary. This is one person who is smart enough to see through it, get ticked off and work darned hard against it.

If you haven’t donated please go here and do so. If you are maxed out please ask friends and family to donate. Hillary needs all the help and support she can get to win this.

http://www.hillaryclinton.com/?splash=1

She is working her heart out for us. She is on a grueling schedule; her family is running ragged all over the country and she needs each and every one of us to get out there to help in any way we can. If you can go and work in Kentucky and Oregon, please do. If you can donate, even $5.00 or $10.00 it helps and get family members to do the same. Why should Obama be the one with money to burn and Hillary with 17 million supporters is financing her own campaign? We need to help and dig deep, every little bit matters. If you can phone bank and make calls for her please do so. The media may not be covering her but we sure can. This is OUR country, our election, our decision and our votes. We need to be heard. Make sure the people know you are NOT going to vote for Obama. Listen to Corbett’s Corner. He is talking to people all over the US, and the world as to their reasons why they are NOT voting for Obama. Email him at: corbett@wilknewsradio.com and let him know why you would NOT vote for Obama.

Something else I want to talk about this morning is Larry Sinclair. At first I thought this was just a story but I have to keep asking myself the same questions: Why would this man put his life in danger, talk to all the media who will listen, submit to a lie detector test, withstand the insults, the humiliation and the hate he has endured if he was not telling the truth? I wish he would do another lie detector test without the spin of being sold out like he was at Whitehouse. According to the people who tested him he lied on the test but according to the computer print out of the test he told the truth. Do I believe him? Actually I was not sure at first but I do now. I honestly believe if he was lying he would have crumbled under all the pressure, backed off and went into hiding from all the death threats he is getting. The simple fact that he is out there still, trying to get someone to listen to his story says a lot. I do not believe he is insane as the Obama camp is trying to tell people. His writing make sense and there is a lot of clarity in them. I do not believe he is after his 15 minutes of fame as Sinclair has had that and is still out there trying to get people to listen to him.

Why is the media ignoring Larry Sinclair totally? Give him a correct lie detector test, listen to his story and let the people be the judge as to whether or not he is ltelling the truth. Personally I do believe he is and I am not an easy person to convince. Larry Sinclair deserves to be heard, his story deserves to be told and the only press that has had the guts to carry it has been the Nation Enquirer and the Globe. It is not just him who says these types of things about Obama either. For those of you who don’t know, Larry Sinclair, he claims to have had oral sex with Obama twice and claims Obama smoked crack cocaine while he was with him just a few years ago. Larry Sinclair has done everything he can to get someone to listen to him and not one single journalist has even bothered to cover the story. He is even suing Obama and not a lick of coverage on that either. Why is this? Why is the media so scared to cover this story? They did cover it extensively in Puerto Rico and its been a big story over there and all over the media. But here, not one single journalist has even bothered to talk with him from MSM. So why is the main stream media ignoring him? Wouldn’t this be a simple thing to take care of? Give him a controlled lie detector test done by like the cops who are not going to be bought out the way Whitehouse was and let’s see the results. Basically, give the man a chance to have history heard. Let the public be the judge of him and not dismiss him when Sinclair is doing everything he can to be heard. I would love to see just one person in the main stream media take up that challenge. But then of course like so many things with Obama, it is swept under the rug and kept out of the public view. I would also like to know about the connection of Obama to the Murder of Donald Young (the young gay choir director from Obama’s church found brutally murdered on Christmas Day 2007) What does Sinclair know about this one but the Chicago Police have not released this information as of yet. What does Obama know?

In my cooperation with the Chicago Police Department, I provided them with all the phone numbers I had provided the Obama Campaign as requested.

Jeremiah Wright in the investigation of the murder of Donald Young?

Yesterday I attempted to contact the CPD Detective whom I had provided the phone numbers to. The Detective was in Court and therefor not in his office. I left a message for him to return my call. If he has not returned my call by Monday afternoon I will call him again.

I do not know if the CPD is beholden to Barack Obama in any way. I am sure that on the upper levels of Chicago City Administration the answer to that is most assuredly, at least in respect to Mayor Daley. I do want to hope that the CPD Detective I have spoken with and dealt with, is in fact sincere and honest and is dedicated to investigating the death of Donald Young. I also know that there are things in an on-going investigation that must be held close to the vest.

Jody Weis, CPD Superintendent

Never-the-less I ask, will the Chicago Police subpoena the phone records of Barack Obama and Jeremiah Wright in their investigation into the Donald Young murder? If the answer to this question is YES, then the CPD are to be applauded, if the answer turns out to be NO, then I, (as do many others I think) begin to question the motives and sincerity of the CPD investigation into the Donald Young murder.

The desperation of the Clintonistas is reaching new depths. Yesterday, Erica Jong posted an hysterical screed on The Huffington Post, with the jumping-off point being Obama's unfortunate use of "sweetie" to reporter Peggy Agar of WXYZ-TV in Michigan.

Despite his penchant for saying "sweetie" to shut women up, Barack Obama does seem more likable than Hillary Clinton. But so what?

The press loved frat boy George W. Bush and hated nerdy Al Gore eight years ago. And look what we got? Endless war, economic meltdown, torture, a bigoted Supreme Court, the destruction of our Constitution and Bill of Rights, a desecrated planet. Will Americans never learn that who they think is a "nice guy" is no reason to elect a president? Apparently not.

The lack of any substantive logic to get from "sweetie" to George W. is worthy of the Lee Atwater school of politics. I don't understand how Clinton surrogates can tout change when their tactics are straight out of Karl Rove's political handbook.

But as if that wasn't bad enough, Ms. Jong continues:

So here we go again. NARAL loves the new boy on the block -- even if HRC was there at its founding. So does John Edwards. And Ted Kennedy. The fact that Barack has little experience makes him the hot new ingénue, whereas Hillary is old like your mother.

The truth is we know about her -- and we know very little about Obama. That alone makes her detractors scream: Get Out! Off the stage with you! Give us that hot new boy! Give us that sepia Brad Pitt! Old women are so over!

OK sweetie, we'll step aside. Watch your own cauldron bubble. You're in a heap of trouble -- and you don't even know it.

Oh no you didn't. You did not just refer to the first African American presidential candidate as "boy", not once but twice. And the veiled threat...how very unifying for the Democratic party.

Ms. Jong sounds like a spoiled kid who didn't get her way. The entire post is a temper tantrum, ending with taking her ball and going home.

            14 wives to 1 man.

6.) My Name is African Swahili - LIAR, your name is Arabic and
enemy, Iran, will not subject itself to a nuclear ban. Top Hamas
destruction of Israel. You state you will open friendly
nuclear weapons to destroy us, but refuse to speak to FOX news. You

30.) I Am Not Acting As President Yet - LIAR, after the NAFTA Memo,
the social security system for Americans legally paying into it.

49.) My Wife Didn't Mean What She Said About Pride In Country -
LIAR, your wife's words follow lock-step in the vain of Rev. Wright
America.

Associated Press; by Jocelyn Noveck and Beth Fouhy; May 17, 2008
NEW YORK - Philipina Heintzman, 81,

Associated Press; by Jocelyn Noveck and Beth Fouhy; May 17, 2008

NEW YORK - Philipina Heintzman, 81, drove 80 miles across the South Dakota prairie to experience history in the making: a woman running for president, something she never dreamed as a child that she would live to see.

That event, a Hillary Rodham Clinton rally in Bath on Thursday, also marked history unraveling.

As Clinton's prospects sink in the Democratic race, Heintzman and many women like her are feeling the poignant letdown of seeing the first woman with a strong chance at the presidency fall short.

"It would hurt my feelings a lot because I think she should be No. 1, she should be president," Heintzman said of Clinton's likely loss to Barack Obama. "Give a woman a chance to do something good."

From young feminist activists to the grandmothers who embrace Clinton along the rope line at her campaign events, many women who voted in large numbers for the former first lady during the primaries have begun mourning the turn of events. They know their dream of electing a female president this year probably will not come to pass — and wonder when it ever will.

"For us, getting a woman elected is major," said Laurine Glynn, 72, of New York City. "We've waited, fought a lot for this. I do worry that my generation won't see a female president."

"Women are feeling a lot of sadness, disappointment and some anger as they look back at what happened in this race," said Debbie Walsh, director of the Center for American Women and Politics at Rutgers University.

And at least part of that anger, Walsh says, is directed at the sexism that some feel seriously harmed the former first lady's candidacy — from T-shirts bearing photos of Clinton and Obama with the slogan "Bros Before Hos" to Hillary Clinton nutcrackers sold in airports.

Women — especially older white women — have been at the center of Clinton's electoral base. During the primaries, she bested Obama among women overall 52-45 percent. Among women over 65, Clinton won by 61 percent to Obama's 34 percent.

Obama advisers note that he defeated Clinton among women in at least 12 states during the primary contest, in part because of overwhelming support for his candidacy among black women. Obama would be the first black president.

And among women under 30, Obama beat Clinton overall by a margin of 56-43 percent — suggesting that they were more inspired by Obama's message of hope and political change than they were by the prospect of electing one of their own.

Paula Horwitz, 84, of Pittsburgh, said some younger women "just don't understand. They'll elect a man, and the men will keep on telling the women what to do." Horwitz displayed a Clinton sign in her front yard for the Pennsylvania primary won by the New York senator.

The generational rift became even more apparent last week, when NARAL Pro-Choice America, a leading abortion rights advocacy organization dominated by white female activists, endorsed Obama over Clinton — producing an outcry among many in the women's movement who felt the group had betrayed one of its own.

Kate Michelman, the former president of NARAL who supports Obama, said Clinton didn't stand for the new direction that voters — including many women — now crave.

"Hillary Clinton represents the status quo at best, and keeps us rooted in a place we need to move from," Michelman said. "I've watched younger women come into their adult lives from a different set of experiences, and Hillary Clinton was not the president to make the transition to the newly inspired movement that we need."

For many women, Clinton's likely fate has also brought nagging questions for the future: Has the former first lady blazed a path, making it easier for the next wave of female candidates? Or has she merely shown how difficult it will be? And who might succeed her?

"What Hillary has done — win, lose or draw — has permanently changed the picture," says Marie Wilson, president of the White House Project, which trains women to run for office. "Next time, we're not going to have to prove that the public will vote for a woman. We won't have to prove competency. She has succeeded at that level."

Wilson pointed to several women with promising political futures who could one day seek the White House: Democratic Govs. Kathleen Sibelius of Kansas and Janet Napolitano of Arizona; Democratic Sen. Amy Klobuchar of Minnesota; and Republicans like Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice and business executive Carly Fiorina. However, none has the name recognition, fundraising network or political connections Clinton was able to draw upon from the early days of her run.

Clinton's pioneering candidacy also won't necessarily mean the next female contender is going to have an easier time of it, warns Walsh.

"It will still be rough for women to come after her," she says. "They'll have to walk that balance of being strong and tough, compassionate and soft. When you're tough, you're called shrill, and the B-word. When you mist over, they say you're weeping."

To feminist writer Linda Hirshman, Clinton's likely defeat signals a harsh reality that future female candidates will need to consider.

"It shows how fragile the loyalty and commitment of women to a female candidate is. That's a pretty scary thing," says Hirshman. "She can count on the female electorate to divide badly and not be reliable."

For their part, Obama advisers said they believe that most of Clinton's female supporters will come their way eventually and won't throw their backing to Republican John McCain. The New York senator has already pledged to work actively on behalf of the Democratic nominee.

Many Clinton supporters hold out hope that Obama might consider choosing Clinton as his running mate. And since she is still relatively young at 60, some can envision another presidential bid.

Missouri Sen. Claire McCaskill, who is supporting Obama, said his campaign was well aware of the disappointment Clinton's female supporters are likely to feel if she loses the race.

"I think the most important thing is that we stay focused on being incredibly respectful and admiring of who Hillary Clinton is as a person and what she represents as a leader," McCaskill said. "She's run a very strong race and deserves the passionate support she's received. I think the respect in the Obama campaign is genuine — we don't have any problem understanding why millions support Hillary Clinton."

I remember a few months back when I avidly followed the elections and was in awe at the process and engrossed in the politics. Then it drew on for another month, then another, then another. And still no progress on any front but the Republican.

I used to care about Obama's views on health care or Hillary's stance on Iran, but not anymore. I have been worn out by this redundant, petty election process. All candidates look the same now. Both the Democrats are campaigning exclusively on their race and gender, hell ask any college student or black person why they'd vote for Obama and it'd fall across the lines of ,"Cause hes the black guy" or any woman who is voting for Hillary and they'd say "Cause she is a woman and I can relate to her struggle".

Both horrible, stupid, and superficial reasons to vote for anybody, their policies are practically the same either would do a fine job at being president compared to what we have had for the past 8 years. Both these candidates have been pampered and given breaks their entire life based on their wealth and have no idea in hell what it would be like to be black man or a woman scorned.

The campaigning is even the same too:

Hillary is in a scandal about making elitist comments

She doesn't recover but lets it boil over

Obama is in a scandal about Wright for the umpteenth time

He gives his speech writer a raise and goes into damage control

Their bases accuse eachother of being racist/sexist

Repeat

Its driving me fucking nuts! I can care less at this point. You'd have to have a resolution of steel to still care in the slightest or put up with this BS.

This week Barack Obama got some flak over calling a reporter "sweetie." Now, ladies, we know the difference between when a man is simply being endearing and when he is being condescending. I once had a case where the attorney on the other side was constantly trying to undermine me based on gender. Once during a conference call, he called me "little lady." I didn't notice because I was focused on the issues, but my colleague noticed and told me later. Also, every time I did something this attorney did not like or whenever I would not concede to something he wanted, he would go behind my back/over my head and send email complaints to my boss--who was a male partner. To his credit, my boss always backed me up. But it pissed me off, because even though my boss' name was on the pleadings, it was my case, I had been practicing over nine years, and I knew what I was doing. The highlight of the case was when the attorney stole something that belonged to my client and I had to threaten to call the police on his ass. You better believe I got my client's property back. Some people at the office that day said it was like an episode of Law & Order.

What I am trying to say is that big girls don't cry, and even if we do shed a tear, we ultimately put our "big girl panties on and deal with it." You better recognize.

Anyway, Barack can call me sweetie anytime. ;]

Dos Equis has launched a new ad campaign--I guess when Corona has the majority of your market share, you have to keep your image fresh and ever changing. So why is Dos Equis deciding to change the course by staying the course?

The ad blitz--first noticed by myself in the subway yesterday, but I'm sure those more inclined to Real World watching probably saw it first--features an old man, supposed amongst a bunch of hip young people. I guess this is some sort advertising foreshadowing. The commercials being run on TV show the old man--supposedly the most interesting man in the world, blabbing about all the shit he used to do. If this is starting to sound familiar, watch until the end of the commercial

That's right, MY FRIENDS. As in:

This man is some sort of McCain surrogate, some more exotic version of the man, some guy that has pretty good taste in beer. Is the McCain campaign backing this in some secretive deal? Is this why McCain has been accused of violating campaign finance laws? Is this why McCain was more liberal on illegal Mexican immigration than his Republican comrades? So many questions.

But one huge question: What happened to their Obama endorsement?

My line of work affords me ample opportunity to listen to the radio. I was cruising the stations on Friday and came across Limbaugh's program. I listen in occasionally to see what he's ranting and raving about. Sometimes it gives me things to write about on this blog. I don't agree with alot of his positions but he can be entertaining at times. Much to my surprise at approximately 12:30 eastern time yesterday he went into a tirade against neocons! He didn't mention anyone by name I don't think but said something along the lines of "Neocons have infiltrated the republican party and are destroying it". He said most of them are "former democrats" and other big government "compassionate conservatives". I find that amusing because Bush described himself has a "compassionate conservative" when he was running in 2000. And Limbaugh is always making excuses for W. Think maybe Rush has finally seen the light? I don't know. But one can only hope. I know from years of on and off listening that he is a "Goldwater conservative". So I hope his values finally won out over party loyalty. Like him or not he has alot of pull with people. When he speaks his mind alot of things he says sound like things Ron Paul says except for the war on terror and other "social conservative" things. But he would never admit to liking Ron Paul. They would drum him out of the party and insert Sean Hitler Hannity in his place. I only caught the last 60 seconds or so of this tirade against neocons so if anyone heard the whole thing please comment below or if you have audio post a link!

Also on another note Rush fielded a call from a woman the other day, Wednesday or Thursday where the woman said something along the lines of "Instead of operation chaos (Limbaugh's attempt to keep Hillary in the race) you should be having all of us switch our party affiliation to Libertarian". Rush, sounding a little like Ron Paul and said (paraphrasing) " I don't think a third party is the answer we need to fix this from the inside" then he lamented on the direction the republican party is going in and talking about needing to fix it while not really going into any great detail.

These are just a few interesting things I heard from a guy I thought was onboard with the neocon uprising. If Rush keeps this up it could spell doom for McCain. His listeners are very loyal and will do just about anything he wants. If he keeps going on like this people will leave McCain and where will they turn? Probably to Bob Barr!

We have talked a lot about the target marketing and use of propaganda by Axelrod but this takes the cake. His "just words" -- you decide. Is it ethical to register words and incorporate the American Presidency? No.

The Presidency in our country is a sacred thing.

Read all about it at No Quarter, in New Hampster's piece.

"Obama is a registered trademark and Hope and Change are Trademarks of Obama for President Incorporated."

After watching the fantastic PBS documentary on FDR, one of our greatest Democrats and Presidents ever, and contrasting it with this? This is the most revolting, disgusting, lowly, cheap shot I have ever seen in my life. The FEC, and President Bush should have something to say about all of this to our country. The American Presidency is the highest office in the land. It is not a set of "trademarked" words, nor is it for sale.

President, Incorporated? You should be ashamed of tarnishing the legacy of FDR and every American President who has ever held office. Were you planning to trademark his Fireside Chats, too? Were you planning to sell them, as you are selling your speech on Race?

Huckabee jokes about Obama ducking gunman

Raw Story | May 16, 2008

A top contender for the bottom half of the Republican presidential ticket cracked wise about the likely Democratic candidate on Friday.

Or perhaps not so wise.

"During a speech before the National Rifle Association convention Friday afternoon in Louisville, Kentucky, former Republican presidential candidate Mike Huckabee — who has endorsed presumptive GOP nominee John McCain — joked that an unexpected offstage noise was Democrat Barack Obama looking to avoid a gunman," CNN Associate Political Editor Rebecca Sinderbrand reports at the cable network's Political Ticker.

"That was Barack Obama, he just tripped off a chair, he's getting ready to speak," said the former Arkansas governor, to audience laughter. "Somebody aimed a gun at him and he dove for the floor."

CBS News also reported on Huckabee's quip, and notes that "McCain, who's scheduled to speak at 4:30pm ET, is expected to take aim at Obama as well."

"Earlier in the day, at a town hall meeting in Watertown, S.D., Obama said he supports the Second Amendment," CBS' report continued.

"I want to be absolutely clear about this – I will never take away the right of lawful gun owners to hunt and sport shooting, to protect their family. I recognize this is a traditional way of life in rural communities all across America, including my home state," said Obama. "I believe in the Second Amendment."

At Politico, Ben Smith observes about Huckabee's comments, "Joking about Obama getting shot at is probably not the fast track to veephood."
Huckabee issues apology

On Friday evening at around 7:30 PM, hours after his NRA speech, Huckabee issued a statement containing an apology, according to a New York Times report.

"During my speech at the N.R.A., a loud noise backstage, that sounded like a chair falling, distracted the crowd and interrupted my speech," Huckabee wrote. "I made an off hand remark that was in no way intended to offend or disparage Sen. Obama. I apologize that my comments were offensive. That was never my intention."

Before the apology, ABC 's Political Radar blog noted, "Huckabee was always quick on his feet on the campaign trail. There was the time the lights went out in the auditorium and he suggested it was a sign from God to wrap up his speech, or the time a cell phone rang in the audience and Huckabee suggested it might be a McCain supporter calling to tell him to leave the race. But, did this one cross the line? After all, a joke about Obama's safety runs a fine line given that Obama accepted Secret Service protection quite early in the race for fear of violence against him."

"The question remains, how might this effect Huckabee's chances at landing the coveted slot at the bottom of the GOP ticket?" ABC's Kevin Chupka asks. "Earlier in the week, a U.S. News and World Report blog quoted a top McCain fundraiser as saying Huckabee topped the list for potential GOP vice presidential candidates. After a week of buzz pertaining to just such a possibility, did Huckabee shoot himself in the foot today in front of the NRA? Perhaps only John McCain knows."
