Well last week was a mixed bag of tricks. RPJ $yndicate was 6-3 last week and is now 18-15-1 on the season. Flash was 0-2 last week and is now 5-3 on the season. Runny was 2-5 last week and is now 13-14 on the season. We are questioning our experiment to post our own personal picks. Not sure it is bringing much value to our readers because we know our RPJ picks are on a roll after back-to-back solid weeks. If you want all of our picks let us know by posting a comment or shoot us an email at rpjsyndicate@gmail.com. We are here to make you money so we will try and contribute to your wallets as many ways as possible.

This week we are helping the U.S Government deal with the economic crisis and we have two words for you.....More Cowbell!!!!

If only Congress and Wall Street had more cowbell we would not be in our current predicament. We also are proposing legalized sports betting across all 50 states. Let the government set the lines and keep the vig. That has to be worth a few billion with all the degenerates in the good Ole US of A.

And yes of course we are going to show you some hot ass and ass in thongs and bring back some new pictures of Keyra Augustina (sorry Heidi Klum fans, but the Keyra fans have spoken in mass)....

[caption id="attachment_597" align="alignnone" width="400" caption="Ass + Thong = The greatest pillow on earth!!!"][/caption]

RPJ $yndicate Picks of the Week

Iowa at Michigan State (-6.5) - This is another trust us game. The same exact model that helped us find the UCLA/Fresno State winner last week is rearing its winning head in this game. This is a huge Big 10 match-up. These teams need this win. The photo below alone should show you who to take!!! Gotta love strategically placed Hawkeye stickers!!!

[caption id="attachment_607" align="alignnone" width="400" caption="The world needs more sticker applicators."][/caption]

FACTS: Iowa is 7-0 ATS in the game before IU, MSU is 1-5 ATS in their last 6 head-to-head meetings with Iowa and MSU is 1-8 ATS as home favorites of 24 or less off a straight-up win. We think MSU will win this game, but it will be close. Take Iowa +6.5.

Texas at Colorado (-13)- Texas has been lights out this year. Now they get a Big 12 rival on the road. Colorado has been good, but they got smoked last week against an overrated FSU team. They will not fair much better at home this week. Texas will look to make a statement with this game. FACTS: Texas is 5-1 ATS in their last 6 against Colorado (3-0 ATS in Colorado) and Colorado is 0-5 ATS in the game before Kansas and when they lose a game (which they will this week), they are only 5-33 ATS. When they lose, they lose big!!! Now throw in the fact that Texas, a team that leads D-1 football in sacks with 16, rolls into Boulder to face a Buffs line that just lost two more starting linemen so they are now down 4 on the season. Ugly Ugly Ugly possibilities. Texas is 4-0 ATS this season and will continue their roll. Take the Longhorns -13.

Nevada at Idaho (+24) - Idaho has been TERRIBLE all year. They have been blown out in nearly every game. They have not looked competitive. Nevada has not been great, but they can score. They should be able to put up a lot against the Vandals. FACTS: Idaho is 0-6 ATS as conference underdogs of 21 points of more. They can't cover against big teams in their conference. They will not do it here either. Take Neveda -24.

Western Kentucky at Virginia Tech (-28) - WKU may be the worse DIV-1 team. They are terrible. Although they are 2-3, their two wins have come against non DIV-1 teams. In their games against DIV-1 teams, they have been outscored 113-23. This does not bode well for them heading into Blacksburg to face the Hokies. Blacksburg is one of the toughest places to play. They will get trounced again. FACTS: VaTech is 11-1 ATS off a straight-up underdog win. They may never stop scoring this week, and WKU may never start. Also, we are 3-0 combined on 28 point spreads. Keeping the juju working. Take VaTech -28.

Penn State at Purdue (+13.5)- Another big Big 10 game. Penn State is off their defeat at home of Illinois. Purdue was embarrassed against the Irish. No way Purdue was looking past the Irish-they are just disappointing. Penn State is not. Their D is outstanding and they have a great offense. Penn State will be looking to keep their Big 10 authority. FACTS: PSU is 7-2 ATS in their last 9 against Purdue and Purdue is 1-9 ATS as underdogs following a double digit ATS loss. Penn State rolls. Take Penn State -13.5.

Illinois @ Michigan (-2): Illinois stayed with Penn State last week, but when the pressure got on, Juice folded. Can that guy not turn the ball over?!?!? Very bad QB. He makes bad decisions and Illinois cannot come from behind with him managing the game. He gets another tough road test in Ann Arbor. Michigan is not good either, but they are playing with a lot of confidence. Their comeback last week became an instant classic. Rodriguez is proof positive that coaching in college football makes a HUGE difference. FACTS: Illinois is 0-11 ATS away after allowing 35 or more points and Michigan is 4-1 ATS in their last 5 meetings with Illinois. Take Michigan -2.

Flash Flash Picks

South Carolina at Ole Miss (-2.5) - Ole Miss is going to be in let down mode and USC really needs to get going again. Also, chalk one up to the Sports Illustrated curse, which was nice enough to feature Ole Miss on their cover this week.

I love the fact that the road team in this matchup is 4-0 ATS in their last 4 and I think USC comes ready to play. They have a great defense and now need to work that Spurrier magic to get the O going. I am taking USC to cover and might throw some dough on the moneyline if it is profitable enough.

Maryland at Virginia (+13.5) - Virginia is really a mess. They should play a tournament with Syracuse, Western Kentucky and Idaho to see who the worst team is in D-1 with the loser getting tossed down to D-III so they can play NESCAC games against the likes of Hamilton and Bates in front of 10 fans in -32 degree weather. Now I would watch that Battle Royale. Look at the ATS numbers...

Virginia
Cavaliers are 2-5 ATS in their last 7 games following a SU loss of more than 20 points.
Cavaliers are 2-6 ATS in their last 8 games after scoring less than 20 points in their previous game.
Cavaliers are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games on grass.
Cavaliers are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 home games vs. a team with a winning road record.
Cavaliers are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 conference games.
Cavaliers are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games overall.
Cavaliers are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 home games.

Where are the positive UVA items you ask? They are in Ralph Friedgen's belly....

[caption id="attachment_623" align="alignnone" width="500" caption="Hello, my name is Ralph Friedgen and UVA is IN MY BELLY!!!!"][/caption]

Maryland wins this game big!!!!

Ohio State (-1) at Wisconsin - The Buckeyes own the Big 10. Own it own it own it. Got that...Let me say it again....BUCKEYES OWN THE BIG TEN. Beanie Wells is back, Pryor is at QB and Ohio State is still motivated because they know they can run the Big Ten table (remember they own it) and still lay claim to being the best team in the land because their one loss will be when they were minus Beanie, on the road against the then #1 team in the country and still getting Pryor involved with the offense. Throw in the fact that Ohio State can stop the run on defense and turns the ball over a lot less than Wisconsin and you can see where this is going. The ATS numbers:

Ohio State
Buckeyes are 6-1 ATS in their last 7 games in October.
Buckeyes are 13-3 ATS in their last 16 road games vs. a team with a winning home record.
Buckeyes are 22-8 ATS in their last 30 conference games.
Buckeyes are 11-4 ATS in their last 15 road games.
Buckeyes are 17-8 ATS in their last 25 games after allowing less than 275 total yards in their previous game.
Buckeyes are 0-4 ATS vs. a team with a winning record.
Buckeyes are 0-5 ATS in their last 5 games following a S.U. win.
Buckeyes are 0-5 ATS in their last 5 games overall. (scary stat but one that will reverse)

Wisconsin
Badgers are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games following a S.U. loss.
Badgers are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 home games.
Badgers are 2-7 ATS in their last 9 conference games. (Remember the Big 10 is bad)

This game is basically a pick the winner game. Wisconsin played the typical look ahead game last week and blew a 19 point lead in The Big House. That is terrible. This team also should have lost at Fresno State, thanks to the Fresno kicker. Defense and turnovers win ball games and that favors Ohio State. Ohio State wins and covers!

Runny Picks

Indiana @ Minnesota (-7): IU has been extremely disappointing this year. We thought they would play better for Hep, but they have been terrible. Off the field issues have plagued them and maybe it has effected their play. Who knows? What I do know is they suck. Minnesota has been surprisingly decent. I gave them no credit coming into the season, but they have shown me wrong. Huge cover for them last week. I think they continue that momentum this week at home. FACTS: Minn is 6-0 ATS in their last 6 against IU and 9-1 ATS against teams that are .400 or worse. IU has a great ATS road record in the Big 10 (10-1 in their last 11), but I don't think it matters this week. This is their first game outside of Bloomington. Take Minnesota -7.

Texas Tech @ Kansas State (+7); OVER 66: Two picks for the price of one here. This line is pretty low considering how much Tech can score. Crabtree may be the best player in NCAA. Tech has dominated this series ATS in recent years (4-0 ATS in their last 4). However, they go on the road this week to a rival that is good at home. To me, that is why the line is so low. That and because KState can score, too. I think Tech wins, but it will be a close shootout. I'm taking KState +7 and the OVER 66.

Kansas @ Iowa State (+11.5): My first Mangino bet of the year!! I'm lovin' it!! The Cyclones usually put up a good fight at home. However, hurricane Magino is coming to town this week!!!! FACTS: Kansas is 7-1 ATS in their last 8 conference games, 4-1 ATS in their last 5 against Iowa State, 4-0 ATS in their 4 as road favorites and 7-1 ATS with rest. They cover. Take Kansas -11.5.

[caption id="attachment_617" align="alignnone" width="112" caption="Would you ever bet against this man?"][/caption]

Ball State @ Toledo (+7.5), OVER 64: Another two-for-one special. Ball State is riding high, despite their HUGE loss of Love. Tragic injury and we hope for the best. They get a tough MAC road game this week. Toldeo can score. Both D's are bad. I think this game will be high scoring and they should hit the over easily. In regards to the line, I think this is Ball State's year. I'm riding them until they prove me wrong. FACTS: Ball State is 3-0 ATS in their last 3 meetings with Toledo and they are 6-1 ATS in the 1st of back-to-back road games. I'm taking Ball State -7.5 and the OVER 64.

We could not agree on the Auburn at Vanderbilt game so we will just show you a sweet pic...

[caption id="attachment_605" align="alignnone" width="400" caption="We love some ass but you gotta love a great pair of......Stickers!!!"][/caption]

Good luck, may your wallets be full and your whores STD free.

The Road Less Traveled

There’s a Chinese proverb that says the journey is the reward. And for Michael Dickerson, his long, unlikely journey has taken him through the highs and lows of the basketball world and on a spiritual journey halfway around the world – all before dropping him off in Independence, Ohio.In most NBA Training Camps, there is annually one invitee who is the answer to this question: “What ever happened to him?”

Here’s what happened to Michael Dickerson.

After reaching the Final Four twice and coming up empty both times, Lute Olson’s Arizona Wildcats finally won the National Championship in 1998, due in large part to Michael Dickerson’s clutch play at small forward. He finished his four-year career in Tucson with a 13.8 ppg average.

The 6-5, 210-pounder netted 18.0 ppg as a senior, was named All-American Honorable Mention, and selected with the No. 14 overall pick by the Rockets that June.

In his first year in Houston, the Seattle native was named to the All-Rookie Second Team after leading all rookies in three-point percentage (.433, 5th in the NBA), ranking 3rd in three-pointer made (71, 20th) and field-goal percentage (.465).

Dickerson was dealt to Vancouver in the Steve Francis trade, but the durable guard continued to improve. After playing all 50 games in the strike-shortened season as a rookie, he appeared in all 82 games the next year, again putting up stellar numbers. He averaged 18.2 ppg in 1999-2000, 16.9 ppg in 2000-01.

That’s when Michael Dickerson’s journey took a sudden turn for the worse. The Grizzlies moved from British Columbia the following season and Dickerson suffered a severe sports hernia just five games into their inaugural season in Memphis. He was limited to just 10 games over the next two years.

Unable to heal over the next two-and-a-half years, Dickerson retired before the 2003 season. He finished his abbreviated career with averages of 15.4 points, 2.9 rebounds and 2.6 assists per game in just 212 games. Then-Grizzlies coach, Hubie Brown, called Dickerson “a pro’s pro,” adding, “He was mentally and physically tough everyday. Michael had to overcome operations, incredible pain and rehabilitation work on a daily basis.”

His career cut short, Dickerson was left looking for answers. He found them over 8,000 miles away.

“Just after the retirement, there were a lot of unanswered questions,” said the soft-spoken swingman. “I had just signed a contract and I was progressing in my career. And to have my career taken away from me, I was seeking answers. So I started studying different cultures, different environments. And I found more answers in India than I had anywhere else in my entire life.”

Dickerson spent much of the next three years in the subcontinent, studying ancient scriptures and healing his mind and body. Asked what drew him to India to begin with, Dickerson answers unequivocally: “The soul drew me there.”

He hadn’t picked up a basketball, but stayed in shape instead by concentrating on martial arts and yoga training. (“I didn’t want to blow up to 300 pounds,” Dickerson smiled.)

You’d never know it by his incredibly relaxed demeanor, but Dickerson comes from a “boxing family.” And he’s used that family trait to stay lean and mean.

“Basically my brothers and my cousins and my dad, they do that training,” said the former Wildcat. “So I just stay in shape with it more than anything. I do a little bit of both (boxing and martial arts). And I do a couple different kinds of yoga and breathing exercises.”

Of course, now that he’s with Cleveland, his focus is all hoops.

“I’ve been trying to concentrate on basketball, get the plays down and get my rhythm back,” said Dickerson. “So I kind of have to change my mind from a meditative mind to a basketball mind.”

After his journey from the NBA to India, how did he wind up back in Cleveland with the Cavaliers?

“I never wanted to retire. I always wanted to play basketball – that was all I knew what to do,” said Dickerson, known as one of the league’s good guys. “So, I just kept that option open. I was feeling good, and my agent, Mark Bartelstein, said I had the opportunity to come to Cleveland. So I accepted the opportunity.”

Now that he’s here, Dickerson knows that – as a Training Camp invitee trying to find his way into a deep backcourt – he’ll once again be in for a fight.

“I’m just going to come to camp and work hard, play hard,” he offered. “And if I have a shot and they select me, that’s fine. And if they don’t, that’s fine also. I’ll go back to India and do my spiritual practices. That’s No. 1 in my life.”

The coaching staff has been impressed with Dickerson’s toughness and drive, labeling him a “beast” through the first few sessions at Cleveland Clinic Courts. He left the NBA at the top of his game and would love to return to that level. He’s getting his shot in Cleveland, and working his way back with the help of his new teammates.

“The guys here are great – they’re supportive,” he smiled. “The NBA guys supported me. They know what I can do when I’m at the top of my game."

“I feel good now. The coaching staff in Cleveland is great and I’m part of a great environment. I’m lucky to be here.”

Michael Dickerson's journey continues.

Column by Scott German
For those loyal Virginia fans that made the trip to Connecticut two weekends

Column by Scott German

For those loyal Virginia fans that made the trip to Connecticut two weekends ago and watched in dismay as the Cavaliers were mauled by the Huskies 45-10, and then headed south to the Tar hell state yesterday to watch the same outcome in Durham, I have a bridge for sale I'd enjoy speaking to you about.

Fueled by a swarming defense that forced six turnovers the Duke Blue Devils completely destroyed Virginia 31-3, and in the process earned their first Atlantic Coast Conference win since 2004. Twenty-five straight conference defeats, and it all came to a grinding halt Saturday in ancient Wallace Wade Stadium against what appeared to be a completely uninspired Cavalier football team.

Duke started the game sluggish and toiled with the Wahoos to a 3-all standoff at intermission. But it was completely evident that two different teams exited their respective locker rooms to begin second-half play. The Blue Devils' intensity on defense was evident as they consistently surrounded Virginia's running backs and receivers, while the Cavaliers looked every bit the part of a disinterested bystander.

Duke broke the standoff midway through the third quarter on a Jay Hollingsworth run and quickly added another TD on a 30-yard pass play, making it 17-3 with less than three minutes remaining in the third. Virginia mounted nothing remotely close to an offense the remainder of the game, and the Dookies' smelling blood tacked on two more scores for good measure.

Adding insult to injury Duke's win yesterday also marked the first time since 1989 the Devils' held a conference opponent to no touchdowns. and broke a nine-game losing streak to UVa.

After the loss Virginia quarterback (at least for Saturday) summed up the defeat this way. 'It can't get much worse than this." If yesterday's effort (?) was any indication of things to come, then to quote ESPN analyst Lee Corso, "Not so fast, my friend." It may very well get worse. Remember the 31-3 pounding was to DUKE! What lies ahead with the likes of Clemson, Maryland, Wake Forest and, uh, I almost forgot, VPI on the schedule.

As a wittness of Virginia football back to the Sonny Randle days, this current team has many similitaries to the Cavaliers of the '70s. The '70s that commonly produced losses by 40-50 points to medicore teams like East Carolina, Maryland, Wake Forest, oh my gosh, all three of those teams are lying wait. Let's hope history does indeed not repeat itself.

Look at this douche...
So, as I stated in my old blog, I wanted to give due justice to this asshat.

[caption id="attachment_11" align="alignright" width="227" caption="Look at this douche..."][/caption]

So, as I stated in my old blog, I wanted to give due justice to this asshat. What do I think about him? You'd think you'd be able to figure that out from the title of this post, but let me indulge in a full on flaming.

*Ahem*

Dear Douche,

Who the fuck do you think you are? You are coming off of a year where you had approx. 15 minutes of field time. You are coming after a dick who got himself a 1.3 gpa and therefore found a fond foot up his ass and a ticket back to Richmond. You are coming after Groh had to beg back a 5th year in order to babysit you. You are were our only hope. Marc Verica now has to step into your shitty assed shoes and try to bring our team together to maybe scrape by this year with a 1 and 11.

Let us discuss why you have been dismissed. I, along with many other fine folks at the good ol' UVA, drank underage. Its not a taboo. Lots of people do it. I didnt get caught. Neither were any of my other friends. However, you did. That should have been your first indication that the public eye was on you. But no. You decided to ignore that. You decided to drink s'more, and smoke up. And by all means, experiment to your heart's content! Thats what college is all about (besides, ya know, learning). But you are being watched, you are on probation, and you are our fucking starting qb. The pressure must have been on you to keep your escapades under wrap. But if rumor is to be believed, you posted pictures of your fucking expliots on goddamn facebook. And not only were you drinking, and smoking, but you were doing coke? Yeah. Thats a brilliant idea.

So, in conclusion... have fun at OSU, or Auburn, or whatever dumbass athletic program deigns to pick your stupid ass up. You werent thrown out of the school (although, you should have been), but far be it from me to tell you not to take your full scholarship out of one of the top 25 public schools in the country. Shoo. Leave. Go away. We wont miss you.

And now for a full reaming of Mr. Al Groh.

Dear Asshat,

Who the fuck do you think you are? UVA is not Florida State. We do not accept the idiocy and ineptitude of our insipid players. Your first shitty move was to play an academically ineligable player for the Gator Bowl. You think we didnt notice that Sewel got the go ahead while 4 other players were told to pack up? Ha. Right. Your second dumbass move was to start Lalich. I understand that you had a sticky situation... but honestly, you brought it upon yourself. Had you been doing your job and ensuring that your players weren't dicking around and actually going to class then Sewel wouldnt have had a 1.3. But, oh no... thats not what you're being paid $1.7 mil to do.

Your third, and most idiotic move? You actually attacked the press when they questioned why the fuck you let Lalich start against Richmond when the days before he had admitted to violating his probation. Then, you tried to sweep it under the rug. You think we wouldn't notice, again? You're spechul. Thank God that Littlepage had the goddamn decency to throw that snivelling little shit to the curb. And if he had more balls, he would throw you to the curb along with him. Fuck you for lying to us, fuck you for yelling at the press and fuck you for acting "holier than thou" with this mess. I hope that you get your contract terminated and fired.

I'll be the one in the seats holding the "Fire Groh" sign.

2010. It has been the talk of the basketball world the entire offseason. Superstars abound will become free agents in 2010. Lebron James. Dwayne Wade. Chris Bosh. Speculation after speculation has been made about who they will sign with, especially Lebron James. "Jay Z is his best friend!" "He'll go to the Knicks for sure." First of all, I firmly believe he will stay in Cleveland, but that is not the point of this blog.

Cavalier fans should not need to worry about 2010 because they have enough to look forward to in 2008.

The Cleveland Cavaliers have quietly had an incredibly productive offseason. The Cavs locked in guard Daniel "Boobie" Gibson for five years. They signed last years starting playoff Delonte West for three years. They drafted J.J. Hickson who had a very impressive summer league performance and should fill in nicely at the gap left by the trade of Joe Smith, which brings me to the top move of the offseason: the signing of point guard Mo Williams. Williams is a combo guard that can score - exactly what the Cavaliers needed. He is not there to pass the ball a ton because Lebron handles that. He is there to score and run with Lebron. Finally the Cavaliers have somebody who can be a legitimate scoring threat. All of this plus the additions of role players Lorenzen Wright and Tarence Kinsley made for a terrific offseason.

Now let's take a look the hope given from last season. The Cavs took the NBA Champion Boston Celtics to seven games, and let's be honest, should have won. They had so many opportunities in that series that slipped through their fingers. All this despite the fact that last season was plagued by contract hold outs, injuries galore, and the fact that half the team had only been wearing a Cavalier uniform for two months. This season we already know will not contain two of those problems. It is early September and the Cavs already have this seasons team locked in. I wouldn't expect a trade bringing in more than one or two players either, so that shouldn't be an issue. If the Cavaliers are healthy I would expect them to win fifty-five plus games this season.

There is one more point that will help the Cavs win a championship this year. Wally Sczerbiak. I am not talking about his playing abilities (though if he performs well it will be a big boost). I am referring to his contract. The man is making 13 million dollars and his contract expires at the end of this year. That contract is going to be quite appealing to a team looking forward to the lottery when the trade deadline comes around. Packaging him with an Anderson Varejao could potentially bring another star caliber player to the Cavaliers; in other words, the final piece of the Cavaliers Championship Puzzle.

Don't worry about 2010 Cleveland fans. Instead, be excited for this season. Boston is the only team that stands in our way, and we proved last season we can take them. We only got better and they only got older.
