We've all done it, tried to use babel fish or various other sites in order to translate something or other into English. I personally always feel like I'm selling out when I do it, and it usually fails anyway.

But this picture is classic, the owners of this restaurant obviously had no English whatsoever, and have simply copied and pasted their restaurant name directly from the translating site.

Poor them.

Or maybe they just have an amazen sense of humour.

First, I would like to talk about the slogan: it's very weak. That was simple. Next the food: I have eaten at four concession stands in the past two days. Twice at the Bounthanh's Chinese Food, once at Nedderman's Steak Tips, once at the Pretzel Wagon, and once at the Mini-Donuts stand from Minnesota.

Bounthanh's is my favorite place out at the fair, the food is great and by now the lady who has been there a few years must remember me (I use to eat there when we had the Buggy Wheel Too concession stand, they got to know me that first year). I recommend the Pepper Steak lunch or dinner. The brown sauce has a nice garlicy taste to it that really makes the dish for me. The meals all come with pork fried rice and an egg roll, however, I don't eat egg rolls so you'll have to try those on your own. The pork fried rice is great and if you like it, you might purchase it at Martin's Supermarkets in the frozen food aisle. I always eat my Pepper Steak meal with the same combo, though: Pepper Steak lunch with no green pepper (this leaves onions and beef) with steamed white rice instead of pork fried rice and no egg roll. While eating the steak, start mixing the white rice into the brown sauce and eat that along with the steak and onions. Add some soy sauce and you've got a great lunch or dinner. That combination that I buy, plus a bottle of water, will cost you $7.50.

Nedderman's (I hope I'm spelling that correctly) was another stand that was next to the Buggy Wheel Too stand when I was younger. They cook their steak to about a Medium Rare to Medium and that's served with soft potatoes and onions and peppers (mushrooms are available for another dollar.) The regular dinner consists of 1/4 lb of steak tips and potatoes which you can add some onions and peppers on top of that and then, for that extra dollar, mushrooms. That'll cost you $8.00. Worth it, though, steak is delicious and with some hot sauce poured over all of this (it comes in a basket similar to a fry boat at a high school) and you've got a great dinner or lunch, or, if you're really big, a snack.

The Pretzel Wagon is just plain tasty. Of course, the pretzels aren't completely plain, they come salted already, but you can add garlic, onion, parmesean and a number of different mustards to your pretzel. I bought the wheat pretzel and added the sweet mustard. My only complaint is I should have asked for a small cup to use for dipping the pretzel into the mustard. That was only $4.00 and this is a good sized soft pretzel.

Mini-Donuts are a must grab at the fair. Not only will you come across people with funny accents working in the stands (there are two stands, I believe) but these donuts are tempting. A bag of 22 didn't last me from the fair gates to my car and home. To clarify I rode the tractor that had just arrived back to my car and didn't have any traffic on the way out of the fairgrounds. Even so, they're hard to resist and they are strategically placed at the main entrances and exits of the fairgrounds. Buy them. Be happy for a short while.

Take-out (in North American English), carry-out (in U.S. and Scottish English, [1] parcel (in Indian English), take-away (in Australian, British English and in Israel), or tapau (in Malaysian English and Singlish), is food purchased at a restaurant but eaten elsewhere. The restaurant may or may not provide table service. In the United States and Canada, food ordered this way (especially in fast food) is ordered to go, and in the United Kingdom it is sometimes ordered to eat out, as opposed to eating in.

Take-out food is often fast food, but not always so. Whereas fast food carries the connotation of a standardized product from a globalized chain or franchise, take-away outlets are often small businesses serving traditional food, which can be of high quality. Examples include the neighbourhood fish and chip shops in the UK, Australia or New Zealand; the sandwiches sold by delis in the U.S.; and the wide range of sausage-based snacks (and increasingly kebabs) sold from stalls in German cities. Food that is delivered by a restaurant to a customer (often called delivery) is also sometimes called take-out; although it might be more properly labeled bring-in, it never is. The establishment that sells take-out exclusively (not providing table service) is called a take-out restaurant, take-out joint or a take-away. There is no clear line between street food and take-out. Crêpe stands in France, for example, may be as permanently situated as a kiosk or newsstand, and some take-out windows (coffee and ice cream for example) clearly expect that the purchaser will begin consuming the food immediately on the street. In general, there is an expectation for take-out (as opposed to street food) that the consumer will have to sit and lay out the food packages for consumption.

My postponement of Mandarin until I go monolingual with Japanese may have been premature. I think some of the difficulties I had earlier stem from the Pimsleur tapes I was litening to. I do not recommend Pimsleur, but I happened to have a copy anyway so I used it. Pimsleur uses basically the same script for all of its language programs, and I had already completed the Japanese tapes way back in the before time. So the C-E and E-C drills I were doing were exactly the same as the J-E, E-J drills I had done earlier... and I'm sure that was a big factor in my mental confusion.

So to test that theory, I've slowly been adding Chinese back into my daily routine. I've started with ChinesePod.com newbie lessons, and have been focusing solely on the pronunciation. I'm also listening to the FSI Standard Chinese pronunciation and romanization module. The newbie lessons are simple enough as it is, and not paying attention to the translations is (so-far) preventing any Chinese/Japanese mixups. The FSI tapes have the best explanation of Chinese pronunciation that I have ever found so far. That and John Pasden's frequency analysis of Mandarin tones.

My family just loves these Noodles,I can honestly say we have them at least every other week, their addictive and so satisfying . In reality they are easy to make and the abundance of vegetables make them nutrious too.

12 ounces dried chinese noodles , boiled according to package directions. Drain, and rinse in cold water. Drain throughly and stir in 2 tablespoons Peanut or vegetable oil.

Garlic and Ginger paste(3 garlic cloves and 1" piece ginger, ground finely)

2 cups shredded Cabbage

3 Scallions sliced on the diagonal

1 red pepper, Cored, and sliced thinly

2 tablespoons peanut or vegetable oil

4-5 dried red Chili peppers

2 tablespoons Soy sauce
