A few weeks ago I posted on what I wanted this winter fashion wise, well my list of things has been partly filled.

Jeans
I now have more pairs of jeans in my wardrobe then I have ever had in my life - 5 in total and it's nice really that I can rotate them around instead of wearing two pairs all the time.

Jackets
Still haven't found the right jacket yet, but I have picked up a sleeveless quilted vest from Millers that is nice and will do till I find what I'm looking for.

Fitted T-shirts
Don't really have to worry about this one anymore either, it's pretty much filled as well, Rivers is a great store for cheap T-shirts so they have been helpful.

Knitted Items
Placed my order with mum on Friday for a knitted vest, she's picked up a book from the local Yarn Store with some nice pattens so I'll have something tailored and in a colour I like in the next few months.

Now down to some more things I want.

iPhone
Soon, Soon I shall have one..
I've wanted one of these for ages now, and going by hat was said on Life hacker about putting a money value on your gadget wants, I think I can justify buying a iphone now after still wanting one after 6 months now.

New Doc's
About 10 years ago when I first started working, I treated myself to a pair of Black 8 hole Doc Martins, these boots have been pretty much every where with me, on Scout Camps, Overseas, to work environments and have been water proofed, buffed, polished, muddied and ink stained, and sadly the poor things have died in the sole.
Thanks to the special sole that the boots have, you can't really repair them so I've been on the look out for a new pair, and not saying I really want a silver set, but I know when I see the "right" pair I'll buy them.

Belts

Another of those wonder things about loosing weight, the fact I can wear things that don't cut me off at the waist.
Belts have never really suited me before, big arse/hips does not make a belt, but since loosing most of that area, I've started wearing a belt to keep my jeans up.
Now I'd like to get a few belts for "fashion sake" and not just to keep my pants up.

Watches
Swatch watch, to me is like my Nokia phones, will always stick with them. (unless it's an iPhone)
I've always bought swatches, I love them plain and simple, they are a watch that lasts you can pretty much wear them until they fall off your arm.
I've lost track of the amount I've had over the years, but one thing that I have found lately, it's harder and harder to find places that sell them.
At the moment I have a striped rainbow one and I do tend to buy the ones with the most outrageous colour pattens. I think it's my inner craziness coming out - might explain the fluro pink one I bought when I was 15.

Every time I travel, deciding on what clothes to bring is always a long process. I don’t own

Every time I travel, deciding on what clothes to bring is always a long process. I don't own a lot of clothes, at least not compared to most of the women I know, so if it's tough for me, then I bet it's tougher for most other people!

If you're trying not to look touristy, well, I have bad news for you. If you're not from Mexico, then you're a foreigner, and only time spent in the country will help you develop an understanding of local style. That's not a bad thing. In fact, the sooner you recognize and accept it, the more enjoyable your experience will be. Actually, one of my many goals while in Mexico is to develop a basic guide of what is "normal" (not necessarily "in fashion" but good classics). My goal, rather than trying to blend in, is to look low-key. Mexico has a relatively formal culture when compared to the U.S., so it will be important to have at least one nice outfit to go out in, even better if it can be modified slightly for salsa dancing.

For everyday clothes, I'll probably stick to my jeans, my green corduroys or my shorts with either a t-shirt, a button-up shirt (NO Hawaiian print, please!!) or some other "casual" top that isn't spaghetti strap or low cut. Trust me, ladies, you'll get more attention than you need wearing less revealing clothes! Piropos (Catcalls) are perfectly normal in Mexico, though, so just ignore them and keep on walking! I'm a big fan of the pre-Hollywood Avril Lavigne (i.e. skater shoes, jeans, graphic T's), a pretty cool look that works well for "everyday" Mexico.

As for shoes, I'm bringing my trusty flip-flops and my running shoes. Because I have relatively small feet, I can find other shoes in Mexico. I love the huaraches (leather sandals)! You can get a nice pair for a good price in just about any marketplace. Bring the hippie inside of you along for the ride. ;)

Another important piece will be my sports bra. I don't necessarily recommend just going for a run in Mexico, but there are sports parks in most cities where half the community (including lots of middle-aged folks in matching sweats) will be running, playing futbol, or engaging in some form of exercise. Take advantage of it! Also, a baseball cap (no, not a palm hat, but a straw cowboy hat with very little frill can be really nice on the coast if you like). I might bring a cute, stylish hat to wear around, but with full awareness that it'll stand out!

I'll probably write a post soon about safety in Mexico, but for now, suffice it to say that if you're going to carry a purse, it's probably better not to carry a lot of money and important documents in it. Also, I recommend a purse that can be slung over your head and shoulder, not just over your shoulder.

Do take the time to consider your clothes, rather than throwing them in a suitcase at the last minute. Bring comfort clothes, especially comfortable shoes, since you'll walk everywhere. Take into consideration the modesty factor as well as the color factor. Yes, Mexico is renowned for its colors, but they're generally on buildings, blankets and products, not necessarily on people! That doesn't mean you have to be dull. (I don't plan to be!) Just keep bright colors balanced with darker onces, or stick to accessories. Beautiful stone accessories are common! You may prefer to buy them once you get there!

Anyway, that's what was on my mind today, less than a month before I head out. It's been interesting to watch the progression of my own thoughts as I get ready for my trip. If you have any "clothing" experiences in Mexico (or another country) that you'd like to share, feel free! I love the stories!

Speaking of oddly fictional-sounding names, Rogan Gregory has designed a line of clothing made from

Speaking of oddly fictional-sounding names, Rogan Gregory has designed a line of clothing made from organic cotton, hemp, bamboo, and linen that Target will get on the shelves tomorrow. Like, 100% organic cotton, not like "we were thinking really hard about organic cotton when we made this". They've even put up a little video (mid-page) with the design team and pictures of solar panels and windmills, so you know it's environmentally friendly.

I'm stoked they're using their purchasing power to make organic cotton viable for mass-production, and that they're slipping it into the mainstream mass "fashion". Unfortunately, Rogan seems to equate "nature-friendly fashion" with "animal prints", which aren't so much my thing, and some of the clothing looks pretty typically trendy. But I'll check it out, and use my purchasing power to encourage this sort of behavior if they have anything nice. If you're avoiding them because of their typical bad big-box ways, consider reconsidering for this, if you like any of the organic stuff. Positive reinforcement works best with babies and dogs, so hopefully it'll do well for Target, too.

More detailed information and pictures of the "looks" are here, along with pricing information.

Well, on this wonderful rainy Saturday afternoon, I think you have all been spared something. To pas

Well, on this wonderful rainy Saturday afternoon, I think you have all been spared something. To pass away the hours, I have made a new play list over at Deezer's and this time I have picked out all rock groups. I thought I would do things a bit different this time and show a completely different side of me. It was my intention to destroy the tranquility of my new blog with some of this music, to the great disappointment of some of you, I am sure, but what is a girl to do when she is home all by herself to pass the time of day? Right!

The only problem is, that I lack the capacity to install music on my blog the way it is now without buying more space and in order to buy more space, I need a credit card, which I don't have. Ah, I hear you all breath a sigh of relief. I could borrow my sister's credit card, but she is not home and that may give me just enough time to change my mind, because I do want to think about you who have your speakers turned on all the time and who are suddenly going to hear loud rock when you get to my blog.

Anyway, I did have fun looking for and discovering bands that I liked well enough. That was a bit of a journey. One band leads to 4 others and hopefully one or two of those are good and they lead to other bands. Sometimes you end up nowhere and you have to start the process all over again.

Another fun thing I did this afternoon was upload 6 CD's to the Real Player and download those to a new MP3 player. It has Feist and Björk and Massive Attack etc. Pretty good music for a fun afternoon. Rocking and rolling all by myself, not really wishing for too much rain, really. I'd rather have Eduard in the great outdoors than indoors, if you get my drift. I want him to take me in his arms and kiss me square on the mouth when he gets home. No funny business.

Boy, I was in bad shape during the wee hours of the morning. I was so far gone from the straight and narrow, it wasn't even a dash on the horizon anymore. I wonder how I get that way, what process takes place to get me there? It's a mystery to me. I can only imagine some sort of an electrical storm happening in my brain that addles my thinking process and mixes up the proportions of things. The negatives and the positives. I am alright again now, but it took me all morning to get there and two walks with Jesker.

I am wearing my cute lavender dress and I feel extremely feminine in it, in spite of my cute short haircut. I've got my make up on and my perfume and a necklace. I think I could be ravished any moment now, although I don't think it is going to happen while I sit here behind this computer. Well, never mind, god only knows who'd come to ravish me. It's not going to be some 23 year old with a bare chest and biceps, lovely as that sounds.

Frances is right, whenever I start to talk about God or about the Queen you all need to get suspicious of my words and my mind. It probably means I am on a walkabout in my mind. I am out in the hot desert of my fantasy, out in the bush where I am overcome by what I think I see and not necessarily by what is there. It's a strange place to be and it takes a while to get back from there.

I am now listening to Limp Bizkit, another group I had heard of before but never really listened to. Very interesting to sit and listen to a whole album courtesy of Deezer. I imagine that this is the kind of music my son would have listened to. I notice that listening to music brings about a change in my mind. In my case it really does seem to soothe me and it doesn't have to be soothing music. It is all about the steady beat that counts. The rhythm of it that settles me down. It keeps me focused and occupied.

All the cats are inside on the dining table having a good look outside and being generally lazy. It must be easy being a cat and having hardly any responsibilities. You've just got to keep yourself clean and stay out of the way of stray cats and stay friends with the cats you live with. I don't actually know how hard that is. Maybe it is more work than it looks and there are rituals involved that I am unaware of.

I try to make my life as easy as that of a cat's. I try to be almost as uninvolved as that, but it doesn't quite work that way. I do try to be almost that independent, but it doesn't work that well for human beings. Besides, cats are very dependent on us when it comes down to it, but they have an independent attitude and I do like that. They have that aloofness and that remoteness that I like, as if they don't really need you. In my case looks would deceive. Wouldn't you like to walk through the world as if you were an untouchable queen? Oh no, there is that word again. Quick, change the subject.

I still have to listen to my new MP3 player and I will do that as soon as I shut off the computer. I like to have the best of both worlds, so when I have the computer on, I listen to my Deezer play list. The only shame is, that you can't play the list itself randomly, you can only do that when you download the player. You can, however, switch to the next band.

In the meantime, I am drinking decaf Senseo, while I am really longing for a glass of white wine, but I suppose i wont tempt fate and go down that path and upset my delicate constitution, because one glass is okay, but I'll want more than one glass and be happy to have three of four. Darn! Wish I could drink and get away with it. I have to face up to the fact that with all this medication I am on, it is probably not such a good idea. There must be a reason for the warning on the pamphlet that comes with it.

Well, I think I've told you enough things now. I could go on and on talking about insignificant things all afternoon until it is 6 o'clock, but you'd get bored after a while and forget to peel the potatoes for dinner. Right, I suppose i will shut everything down and hook that MP3 player up and listen to those new CD's.

Have a good rest of the Saturday. Don't do anything I wouldn't do. Oh well, is that good advice?

Ciao...

Calf-Length Skirt in Soft silk blend material
A silken yarn in a structured knit: stretch, move and suit yourself. Elastic pull-on waist band, no pockets, pleats or zipper for the perfect feel and look. It's a skirt you can pull on, look great—and go. We love the bi-stretch and subtle texture of our favorite light weight weave. The pattern looks like a tiny basket weave. The skirt is beautiful but the size tag is cut. I know it is a large (the L is still there) But it appears to be snipped to prevent retail return.
80% Silk 20% Cotton

This same Eileen Fisher skirt is listed for over $100 here on e-bay, if it is your size grab them.
