Basically, the video shows what happens when a couple from the 60s decide to visit a lion (yes, a LION) that they adopted as a cub and raise, but set free in the wild, after a year of not seeing it.

Este tipo de encuentros suelen realizarse para presentar trabajos en curso que agradecen los comentarios y sugerencias que los asistentes puedan realizar. Sin embargo, en esta primera edición del CUB creo que hemos ido mucho más allá, desarrollando un evento de dos días (15 papers) en el que se han presentado desde resultados de tesis doctorales a trabajos terminados.

Investigadores de múltiples nacionalidades (e.g. franceses, italianos, chinos, británicos, españoles, etc.) han confiado en el CUB para presentar trabajos de las más diversas disciplinas, si bien todas han tenido como tronco común la preocupación por el usuario. Así, hemos constatado que lejos de ser un concepto superado la usabilidad de los sistemas de información está más vigente que nunca. Hemos hablado de m-marketing, de e-retailing, de metodología de análisis de usabilidad, de tecnostress y su efecto en el lugar de trabajo, de la incidencia del color en el comportamiento de los consumidores en Internet, etc.

ÉNERGIE. Le conseil de CUB de juillet a voté la réalisation d'un diagnostic infrarouge aérien pour toute l'agglomération. Un an après la ville de Bordeaux thermographie annoncée

L'actualité de la salle de spectacle de l'Aréna a éclipsé, le 18 juillet dernier un autre dossier à l'ordre du jour du conseil de communauté urbaine : la réalisation d'une thermographie aérienne infrarouge du territoire de l'agglomération bordelaise. La consultation auprès des quelques entreprises qualifiées en France a été lancée dans la foulée et c'est à la mi-septembre que la Commission d'appels d'offres de la Communauté urbaine de Bordeaux devrait livrer son verdict.

De quoi s'agit-il ? D'un diagnostic des déperditions de chaleur des bâtiments du territoire de la Communauté urbaine. « Un certain nombre de communes de l'agglomération ont déjà engagé des démarches pour mieux connaître leur consommation mais cette thermographie offrira une vision parfaite de la qualité de l'isolation de tous nos bâtiments publics et privés », explique Laure Curvale, vice-présidente notamment chargée de l'énergie et du plan climat.

L'hiver prochain, dans des conditions climatiques et d'hydrométrie assez précises, un avion ou un hélicoptère survolera l'agglomération à environ 400 mètres d'altitude. À son bord, une caméra infrarouge collectera les données. Et permettra l'établissement de thermicartes qui offrent une parfaite visualisation, grâce à une échelle de couleur, des déperditions d'énergies par les toitures surtout. Le coût total de l'opération est estimé à quelque 350 000 euros. Dunkerque la première, mais aussi Grenoble ou Bordeaux ont déjà réalisé ces campagnes. Les entreprises consultées devront aussi s'engager sur la communication des résultats auprès de la population car ces photos ont un sens si elles déclenchent des travaux immédiats.

Travaux d'isolation. La thermographie aérienne permet de cibler les lieux où sont nécessaires des travaux d'isolation, voire des investissements dans de nouvelles chaudières ou des installations solaires.

La Communauté urbaine de Dunkerque, pionnière de la thermographie aérienne, avait créé un fonds communautaire de l'ordre de 200 000 euros alors abondé par EDF. La CUB n'a pas tranché sur le sujet. Mais il n'est pas sûr que les dispositifs d'application du Grenelle de l'environnement se montrent très généreux sur les travaux de rénovation.

La Ville de Bordeaux a d'ores et déjà réalisé, avec de nombreuses aides financières, sa campagne entre les 12 et 15 décembre derniers. Les résultats ont déjà été présentés à un petit millier d'habitants. Au jardin botanique, chacun peut repartir avec l'image de son toit et des préconisations de travaux. On estime à la mairie de Bordeaux que l'implication des artisans et des moyennes surfaces du bricolage, les produits bancaires écologiques et les incitations fiscales sont suffisantes pour lancer les premiers travaux d'économie d'énergie chez les particuliers. Mais il n'est pas sûr que cela suffise dans le temps à l'échelle de l'agglomération. « Nous devons mettre en place des incitations financières » est persuadée Laure Curvale qui souhaiterait, avec tous les acteurs concernés, initier des dispositifs complets d'accompagnement technique et financier à la réalisation de travaux d'économie d'énergie. D'ici au printemps prochain.

Master Pawlee isn’t a huge 100-pound mastiff…he is a 15-pound Cockapoo! Cockapoodle-do…and he sure did! Scaring off three bears (or to be more accurate, one momma bear and her two meddling cubs) isn’t everypup’s bowl of kibble.

Here’s the whole story.

In the backyard of a house in New Jersey USA, Little Pawlee spotted these three squatters.

(What? Biased? Who?! Me?!! I am not biased, I don’t favor the American dogs; it so happens that every dog-story that I get to hear originates in this far-away fairy-tale nation. Now, may I complete rest of the story without interruption?!)

Ms. Osiason, the human pack-leader and her 9-year old son Jacob heard some strange noises in their backyard, and so they looked out! OMD! Their little Pawlee was out there. With the three bears menacingly circling Pawlee, and the fearless Pawlee barking incessantly, the Osiasons feared for the life of their cute little Cockapoo!

But before they could gather their thoughts and formulate a plan to rescue Pawlee, they realized that Pawlee had taken control of the situation. His relentless barks drove the bears up the tree, from where they jumped to the other side of the fence and ran with their lives in their grubby paws! Pawlee didn’t stop barking until the bears disappeared from his sight…and for a dog, you know, that’s a long-long time.

So, isn’t Pawlee a pup prodigy? Tell me, which pup could drive three bears out of his backyard? His mom must be mighty proud of him, and so must be his pal Jacob.

That’s the story of the fearless pup with a fearful bark. I hope that it doesn’t raise the bar for us. I can only speak for myself. Mercury’s cut the news-item out of the newspaper and pasted it in my scrapbook…and she’s been asking me to follow Pawlee’s example. So, I suggest that you don’t let your humans read this. If you do and you become the unsuspecting target of the my-pup’s-better-than-your-pup drive…don’t blame me!
