"Got Urself A ..."

The rest is history.

I've been sleeping on this cat for a long ass time. I didn't even know this was comin out. Which is pretty fucked up on my part considering the fact that it is one of the biggest UG releases this year. Production from legends like Primo and Large Professor and by newcomers like the amazing Statik Selektah. Strong contender for album of the year is this album. Download it now and definitely buy later cuz it's just too dope.

“Street's disciple, my raps are trifle/ I shoot slugs from my brain just like a rifle/ Stampede the stage, I leave the microphone split/ Play Mr. Tuffy while I'm on some Pretty Tone shit [...]”

"Rappers I monkey flip em with the funky rhythm I be kickin
Musician, inflictin composition
of pain I'm like Scarface sniffin cocaine
Holdin a M-16, see with the pen I'm extreme [...]"

Life's a bitch and then you die; that's why we get high/ Cause you never know when you're gonna go.” I switched my motto/ instead of sayin fuck tommorrow/ That buck that bought a bottle could've struck the lotto”.

"I'm like Malcolm X catchin' Jungle Fever".

"I rap for listeners, blunt heads, fly ladies and prisoners
Hennessy holders and old school niggas, then I be dissin a
Unofficial that smoke woolie thai
I dropped out of Cooley High, gassed up by a cokehead cutie pie
Jungle survivor, fuck who's the liver
My man put the battery in my back, a difference from Energizer
Sentence begins indented, with formality
My duration's infinite, money-wise or physiology
Poetry, that's a part of me, retardedly bop
I drop the ancient manifested hip-hop, straight off the block
I reminisce on park jams, my man was shot for his sheep coat
Childhood lesson made me see him drop in my weed smoke [...]"

Over the years, I have been approached by so many fans to put out an instrumental album. This particular project is a series titled "BEATS THAT COLLECTED DUST Vol. 1" for a reason. Since I do intend on doing instrumental LP's for the true heads, I did not want to confuse my so-called "Lost Tapes" beats with new ones. So I split 'em up. This ("B.T.C.D.") series consists of beats that were either for artists and were never used, or were just not adequate enough for me to ever release them with MC's spittin' over them. These are truly as we all know not my best work, but I had no plans of releasing them anyway. Then I thought, why not put them out "As Is" and let them be shared to the world.

Most of them are just rough demos from the 1999-2003 period, and when I started goin thru all of my old disks to listen to what I never used, I put them in a folder and my label manager, BIGGEST GORD, co-signed the idea to let em fly. I will be releasing new original tracks as well under a different title, but I have a bunch of old joints that will never see the light of day unless they are released through this series. Get ready for Vol. 2. Be on the lookout for my other original series of instrumentals called DJ PREMIER presents: "HEAD NODDERS". All original bangers, and of course, I will always release it on vinyl. Much respect to the real DJ's...One....DJ Premier. The new beat CD reaches stores near you on July 22nd via Premos record label Year Round Records.

OK, here it is, evidence that Hip-Hop isn't what it used to be...

First up... The Cool Kids... very cool apparently, and leading the non-substancial hipster movement...aside from the last two minutes, pure struggle along whackness....

and then, Craig G, aka The Villian, of the notorious Juice Crew... sets the mic on fire, and disses Lil' Wayne and Soulja Boy, while DJ Premier bangs the boards and makes beats on the fly...

What do you think...? Is the old school better than the new school for raw freestyles...? And will Craig G even be acknowledged like Snoop and Method Man for his opinion on the Ice-T diss to Soulja Boy?

UGHH made a decent update last night on some new flavor that they have available for pre-order, no "real" (double) vinyl action yet however but I figure they are saving that for the next update. For you guys and girls who do purchase cd's there should be some interesting stuff there to pre-order no matter what you're into.

Anyway here is my personal hot pick right now from the pre-order list:

NYG'z - Welcome 2 G-Dom (Feat Rave Roulette 12")

Here is what DJ Premier had to say about the release,

Here we go again! It feels good to proudly say that here at Year Round Records we still press vinyl! And because of that fact, I present to you the second single off the NYGz album "Welcome 2 G-Dom." The A-Side contains the standard street version along with the clean and instrumental. Of course we had to do a video which is also available. But that's not all, we gave the B-Side some action packed bonus cuts. DJs always appreciate this, and as a DJ myself, I do too. We decided to remix the first single, "Ya Dayz R #'D, and created the "NYGemix" which features The Lady of Rage, Bumpy Knuckles, and Royce 5'9". We are also working on a video for that as well. It will show the true artistry and the talent at our label. If you thought that was it, you're wrong! We also have added some more flavor for the DJs with a new song featureing the newest member to sign to Year Round. His name is Nick Javas, he's from New Jersey, and of course his lyrics are fire! The song is called "Legendary Pt. II", and it also features Blaq Poet. There will be a Part 2 coming soon! I Can't forget to mention the new Blaq Poet pre-album due this fall called "The Blaq Print" which is entirely produced by DJ Premier, oh... that's me! Like Shabeeno says, get used to us!

— DJ Premier

Great stuff indeed, and I cant believe my eyes, is Blaq Poet's pre album going to be fully produced by the man himself? I'll take his word for it! Life sure is good sometimes.

To pre-order this NYG'z 12" record click HERE

Originally I was going to review Nas' new Unititled but then realized there would be 3453543 others doing the same, so I wanted to go another direction. Listening to the new album put another MC into my head. Nas' Firm counterpart, the smooth multi-syllable quick-tonuged Anthony Cruz. Or as the world knows him, AZ. The only rapper to feature on the greatest hip-hop album of all time, where he delivered one of hip-hops greatest verses ever.

He flown pretty much under the radar his entire career but adored by hip-hop heads and brought up in many discussions as even better than Nas. My dream is to have a full AZ/Nas album all produced by DJ Premier. It's too bad this probably won't happen but you can dream you know.

Rather Unique (Prodcued by Pete Rock) Doe or Die, 1995

Fan Mail, Aziatic 2002

Time (ft. Nas and Nature) Decade, 2004

Make Me (ft. Fresh, this dudes verses are tight) The Format, 2006

Unfortunately not too much of his older songs can be streamed on full. BUT DO check out the AZ/Nas collabo "Gimme Yours", sick shit. Heres a sample.

Check this dude and see why he is blasted arguably the most underrated rapper of all time.

An internet leak of a 14-track album called The Revival started circulating the Internet this weeke

An internet leak of a 14-track album called The Revival started circulating the Internet this weekend, but Royce Da 5′9″ assures that it’s not the real deal.

“To the people listening, it’s not even near what the album is,” Royce told MichiganHipHop.com. “It ain’t nothing but old copies of certain shit. … Some of the songs, I still plan on using, but it’s such a rough and old copy, it’s not even worth listening to because it’s going to sound like such a different project by the time it comes out.”

Royce simply identified the culprit as “Somebody from back in the day, who thinks I don’t know who he is,” and said that he’d deal with the situation appropriately. Regardless of the leak, Royce says that Bar Exam II is set to hit the Internet as a free download on Aug. 26.

“[Bar Exam II] is all I’ve been working on lately,” Royce said. “When they actually get the project, it’ll have a whole lot of new shit on there they haven’t heard, along with the shit that’s been leaked strategically. It’s going to be every sense of a mixtape. The way real mixtapes used to be, that’s what it’s going to be.”

Royce also said that Street Hop, the much-hyped album executive produced by DJ Premier, should hit stores in late October.

Royce also spoke to MiHipHop about his recently cancelled shows in Norway. While at a Saigon show the night before Royce’s first scheduled performance, he broke his left arm while pinning a fan’s hand on the table in an arm wrestling match. In a video blog on his MySpace (http://myspace.com/roycefivenine), he explains that he had to go through emergency room surgeries to correct the issue, and the pain forced him to miss the four shows.

“They got onstage and said I wasn’t going to be performing, and since the people had seen me the night before and knew I was in town, they got mad and they started fighting in there,” Royce told MiHipHop. “It was like a big ass riot in there. So I’ve definitely got to go back.”

Royce said that the shows have already been rescheduled for September.
