Han skriver bla för Hoopshype och i den senaste artikeln med honom "The game would be easy for MJ, Bird and Magic nowdays" .

Believe it or not hehe :-)

I posted earlier about the crunch I'm under as May winds into June. I have multiple things on the go, some with hard deadlines, and others that have a tiny bit of give. It's a stressful situation that everyone who breathes will find themselves in at some point in their lives.

When you're working in the industry, it's usually a single project with a single deadline. In my case, it's a collection of things that are all needed right around the same time. Ironically, I got an email last night that innocently asked for X, Y and Z to be complete on the same relative due date as everything else I have going on. Thank goodness for delegation.

My previous strategy had been to work some on project X, some on project Y and some on project Z. The fault in this, however, was that it was very likely to produce three things, each of which reached 90% completion. In this world, it's either done or it's not. No one cares if you hit 90%. Conversely, by switching to "full task to completion" mode, Ive been able to muscle through 1 of the three larger things on my plate, and will be finished all I can presently do on the second by the end of this weekend. I'll move on to the third project on Monday. The projects were stacked to completion in order of priority, similar to the "triaging" that happens in development team.

There are some obvious benefits to this. In the event one of the projects runs over, two done is better than three projects at 90%. Sticking to the same project is more efficient mentally, too. Also, as components of individual projects are finished, the coveted "done" mark relaxes the stress some.

That's the new strategy. We'll see how it works out. All in all, in this economy, I feel fortunate to have an abundance of opportunity.

All I have to say is YAY!!!!!!!! Two whole days to do or not do what I want. How bad am I? I thought about getting up early ... although 4:30am is a little too early, and go on a hike. I was exhausted just thinking about it. Plus I'm not sure I could get hubby awake to go before it got too hot. It will be a heat wave this weekend. The temps are supposed to be in the mid 90's. UGH! Not good when one has no air conditioner.

We are going to Vegas over Memorial Day Weekend, talk about hot! At least my sis has A/C and we won't be wilted. It cracks me up when people from the midwest say, "Oh, but it's a dry heat." Yeah, I'm sorry, however, when the temp is around 105-115, you are still roasting. When the sun hits the skin you can feel it start to bubble. I actually have to look down to make sure it's not. The bad thing about midwest heat is the humidity. When you are done with a shower, ready for work and walk outside you are soaked in the first 5 minutes, that bites! However, the good thing, my skin had lots of moisture. I would just think of it as a daily spa treatment/facial!

I passed the small field of sheep on my way home again tonight. There was a little baby black sheep along the fence. He or she was so cute, I wanted to stop the car and pet it! It's so wierd that this field is in the middle of town, surrounded by houses, an AM/PM and coming soon a Long's Drugs and a Holiday Inn Express. I hope this field stays and progress doesn't force them to sell. That is what worries me about all the ranches along Carson Valley. If they start selling off the land, it will be nothing but houses and development. It is so beautiful as it is with the fields, cattle, and the Sierra's in the background. Unfortunately, greed gets in the way. The ranchers die off and the ones who inherit the land don't want to be ranchers and would rather sell it for the money. I would hate the drive to work if all that land was developed.

I hope you all have a great weekend. Hope the weather cooperates with whatever you plan to do.

A Chinese county near the epicentre of a 7.9 magnitude earthquake has been ordered to evacuate amid fears that a lake may burst its banks.

Thousands fled Beichuan town in central Sichuan province on Saturday to escape possible flooding.

Soldiers carried older people to safety while survivors cradled babies on a road jammed with vehicles.

A policeman told the Associated Press news agency on Saturday that rescuers were worried that water from the lake would inundate Beichuan.

"The lake was jammed up by a landslide and may burst. That is what we are worried about," he said without giving his name.

The official Xinhua News Agency said earlier that a lake in Beichuan county "may burst its bank at any time".

It said 46 seriously injured people were in "dire need of help" in Beichuan, where the water level was rising rapidly.

Dear Daddy,

He proposed. And that scares the hell out of me. I want to say yes. And that scares me

Dear Daddy,

He proposed. And that scares the hell out of me. I want to say yes. And that scares me even more. I’ve never wanted to make such a commitment before. I’ve never imagined just having one person for the rest of my life.

And for that reason I never said yes to boys I thought I could actually have a future with. I went into relationships knowing that they would not last, with boys that I knew I didn’t have anything more than physical attraction for.

I never wanted my happiness to depend on a single person. And he started out as one of those boys that I never thought would want anything serious. He seemed like a huge flirt. He had never had a serious girlfriend. And we started in an open relationship.

But along the way, I drifted into love. People shouldn’t be allowed to love so much. I tried to get rid of him. I tried to not let him have a hold on my heart. I kept the wall up.

But he got through. And he got in. And he’s clamped himself into all my arteries and veins and that was unexpected. It’s scary to realize that I have so little control.

I feel pain when he is in pain. He annoys me like crazy sometimes. He also makes me laugh like no one else has been able to do. We are officially still in an open relationship but in the five years that we have been together we have never dated anyone else.

Loving him scares me. I’m so sure that he will never leave me. And that in itself is a foothold for disappointment. I never thought you would be gone as well. Dads are supposed to be there for always.

I’m grown but sometimes I still feel like a five-year-old girl again. A scared, confused child, who doesn’t understand how someone who loves her could leave. That little girl still resurfaces every now and again. She still exists in me. I’ve just gotten better at hiding her over the years.

I went from imaginary friends to obsessive crushes to unofficial relationships in which I would bail when there was a chance of serious development. I never worried about my heart breaking because it already is broken.

I’ve already experienced losing something I love more than anything else in the world.

But maybe, I am afraid of my heart being broken, after all. Maybe that’s why I’ve avoided love. Maybe that’s why I’m so afraid of letting people into my life, my heart. Maybe that is why saying “yes” to him now is so difficult—because I want to.

I’m emotionally stunted. And I don’t usually like transferring the blame because that means I am giving up control but this time, I’m making an exception. I’m emotionally stunted. And I blame you.

But you know what? If I lose him someday, so be it. I am not going to lose him because I was afraid of disappointment. I am going to say yes.

I guess that means I’m taking control after all.

From your not-so-little-anymore-girl,
Me.

it’s Pendulum - Granite this time and we got some good news over here: my parents went away

it's Pendulum - Granite this time and we got some good news over here: my parents went away...not forever, but for quite 10 (ten) days. the better news are, that they left me some money for the week so i can buy something to food...haha, to food. i'll go to the city today, with sina and check out some new music, like...ehm...the 3 (three) albums i ever wanted. with this money, i'm doing fine the next time and i'm really excited about getting this new stuff. well, just as i thought about the music, i played with the idea to buy pendulum's older stuff in music, i found on youtube some tracks which i never heard before and their old drum'n'bass style is quite nice, but i'm excited about some high contrast stuff, too, especially because on his album there are tracks i didn't even know. it's a remix album and so it could be nice to listen to that stuff.

well, beside those news, there are some topics on my mind for quite a long time. i noticed (and i'm sure you did as well) that sometimes there are gaps of words in my sentences. it seems like, that i'm having the sentence which i want to write in my mind but i'm skipping this word because i'm one step further than i'm writing. sometimes i miss the third person "s" and some other stuff. well, it's not in purpose, but it's funny to me when i'm rereading my post when i already published it.

the other topic is, that in some trams in karlsruhe, after an announcment for the next station, there follows a new one like "Please leave the seats for people with limited mobility". i think this is a very nice idea of the KVV and their new signs in the tram that you are not allowed to listen to music out loud with the mobilephone are fine, too. the only thing i'm still sceptical about are the cameras. i don't know, everytime i enter the tram, i'm watching if there are cameras and give them a sceptical look. but i know, they are just for our own good, yeah yeah.

you see, in the blogroll, there has a new blog entered the list, more precise the one of kondec (david). his first entries are quite nice, i laughed very much as i read them, it's fun to read it, i promise. just in this moment, i notice, that my skin is paling. it's because of sunburns all over the body but i think i can handle that. at least my left ear is getting better, i sometimes can hear with it, it's because the shmoalz is getting lower and everytime there is an equalization of pressure i can listen on both ears for some minutes. this earspray from finland rocks, i think i will use only this one to clean my ears when i'm repared :D when you're looking out of the window there is no sun anymore but dark gray clouds and it rains a bit. well, it's not the best time for me, that it rains now, but i think it's good. so i don't have to water my mom's plants in the garden.

i cannot wait until i get the new in silico album, although i already know every track exactly. yesterday i wrote something in my "About" section and before you say something, let me explain: it's not really prehappines, i just want to hold the music in my hands so i can be sure, that i'm independent of youtube and more. i will buy my Augsburg traintickets today, too (when there is the ecoprice) and maybe i can already buy the new firewall from goldy, i don't know. what i never told you is that i'm really impressed by the wordpress draftsystem, although i never got in the situation to need it. draft is a function that automaticly presaves your post in case of a crash of your browser. so you don't have to write everything from the beginning but from the very point when the draft was saved. see you soon.

Liso. Negro, corbata platino. Camina gris. ¡Muérete de envidia Emporio Armani! ¿Donde estas maletín? ¡Ya te vi! Ultimo vistazo antes de irte al trabajo. Perfecto.

Buenos días Tom, a levantarse. ¡A trabajar! Me ducho. Armani le dice adiós a Tipo Soñoliento.

¿Liso o Raya diplomática? Liso. Me encantan los trajes lisos para trabajar. No se porque. Corbata roja y camisa a juego.

Vamos a bailar Tipo Soñoliento.
¿Liso o Raya diplomática? Liso, ¿para que cambiar? ¿Verdad? Siempre lo mismo, aburrido, rutina, aburrido, rutina, aburrido, rutina. Me duele la cabeza horrores. Joder no soy un niño, ¿Donde te has escondido maletín? ¡Sal maldito cabrón! No me hagas ir a buscarte. Ah estaba ahí delante, no te había visto. Abro. Cierro. Abro y salgo ¡Adios!

¡CALLATE DE UNA VEZ BASTARDO! Lanzo el despertador contra la pared, ¡PUUM! Se parte en pedazos. Que gozo... ¿Tengo que levantarme? No no no ¿por qué? No y NO. Me levanto...hoy no hay ducha. Que se duche Armani si quiere. Legañas, doña Barba, lengua de cartón ¡Venid a mi! Vale, vale me ducho...

Respira profundamente. 1, 2, 3, 4....así muy bien. Me siento mejor. ¿Que cojones me ha pasado? Levanto el maletín, con fuerza. Agarro el pomo de la puerta. Miro hacia la ventana. Me acerco hacia ella y salto.

Caigo. Nunca he sentido nada igual. Soy feliz...

A security researcher in Finland has discovered a cross-site scripting vulnerability on paypal.com that would allow hackers to carry out highly plausible attacks, adding their own content to the site and stealing credentials from users.

The vulnerability is made worse by the fact that the affected page uses an Extended Validation SSL certificate, which causes the browser's address bar to turn green, assuring visitors that the site – and its content – belongs to PayPal. Two years ago, a similar vulnerability was discovered on a different page of the PayPal site, which also used an SSL certificate.

Harry Sintonen discovered the vulnerability and announced it to other web application security specialists in an Internet Relay Chat (IRC) channel today. Sintonen told Netcraft that the issue was critical, adding that, "you could easily steal credentials," and, "PayPal says you can trust the URL if it begins with https://www.paypal.com," which is not true in this case.

While SSL certificates do indeed provide a higher level of assurance when it comes to site ownership, they cannot guarantee that a site is free from other security problems – including cross-site scripting. There are concerns that hackers may exploit misunderstandings in the significance of the green address bar for their own benefit, piggybacking off the trust that is instilled by EV certificates. Users need to be aware that a green address bar does not guarantee the origin of a page's contents if there is a cross-site scripting vulnerability on that page.

I have been really busy with my workload in April and now May, so have not had many opportunities to be near a computer at all, and/or to post as often as I would like. The trend will continue for another month at least.

In the meantime, I wonder if any reader would like to give some thought to what a "wanker", a "Prima Donna" or a "Freak" means to them, in reality and in terms of people you come across in life, in general, politically or otherwise... Perhaps, those you have already come across in life you consider being as one of the above? But, more importantly why?

If you have some views, please share.

If you choose to leave a comment, please try to explain a little more in depth, and try to keep some decorum. This is a light hearted post, not meant a serious one; well, unless you feel strongly about it. Thanks.

There are no hard and fast rules in this regard but keeping the following points in mind might just

There are no hard and fast rules in this regard but keeping the following points in mind might just help.

1. Operating system:

Yep, just as you have to decide between Linux and Windows on a PC, you will need to make up your mind about whether you would rather go for a Symbian, Windows Mobile, Palm OS, Black-Berry or Linux device and each OS also has its own sub-groups too (Symbian, for instance, has different editions of Series 60 and UIQ). The jury is still out on which one is the best, but you will need to keep in mind factors like speed of operation, number of applications available (preferably free ones) and compatibility with other devices, before you opt for a particular OS. Do remember that unlike in PCs, you cannot install any OS on any phone—so if you are dreaming of running a Symbian OS on an iPhone, forget it! Here you are pretty much stuck with the OS that comes on the device. No changes allowed.

2. Screen size:

No need to go “duh’’ on this one. While screen size is indeed important on all cell phones, it attains an entirely different dimension in the case of enterprise phones. This is because one often ends up viewing, documents, presentations and spreadsheets on enterprise devices and even browsing the Internet a fair bit. And the bigger the screen, the lesser the strain on your eyes and fingers (hey, think of all the scrolling you will save on!).

3. Interface:

Do you like touch screens, physical keypads or a blend of the two? And even in physical keypads, do you want a proper QWERTY keypad, a semi-QWERTY keypad or just the good old alphanumeric affair? Well, it all really depends on your needs. Touch screen users normally end up with larger screens and the convenience of being able to scribble using a stylus, but have often to put up with iffy handwriting recognition systems and slightly lower battery performance. On the other hand, those with physical keypads often find the keys way too small to really replicate the convenience of a notebook but get better battery performance and more software applications to play around with. Suit yourself!

4. Software:

Different devices come with different software options. For instance, some might come with a full-fledged office suite while others might just have an application that allows you to view (but not edit or create) MS Office files. You will also need to consider whether your device comes with a PDF reader, a good email client (preferably supporting push mail) and a decent Internet browser. It’s just like a PC—the hardware is every bit as important as the software.

5. Connectivity:

As most enterprise phone users are frequent travelers, do check if the phone will work on all networks. If you have no intention of straying beyond Indian borders, do make sure that it supports EDGE (you will be surprised to know that some high-end enterprise phones do not support it). And it is not just a matter of networks, you will also need to check out if other connectivity options such as Bluetooth and Wi-Fi are available onboard and also the kind of devices supported. It always helps if you can connect a projector or printer directly to your phone!

6. Multimedia:

The days when people used to insist that multimedia had no place in enterprise phones are passé. So make sure that the camera on your phone supports features like business card reading and whether the phone’s speakers are good enough to allow you to use it in speakerphone mode even in a meeting, if need be. Also check if the phone allows you to record long audio clips and whether it allows image editing—you will be surprised at just how often you need them.

7. Processor, storage:

All the features highlighted before would be useless if your phone ran out of juice in no time at all. Similarly, a good processor is necessary to ensure that your device keeps ticking over nicely. Storage of course will allow you to carry most of your files in your hand, and having lots of memory to play around will ensure that you can run multiple applications without your device hanging or crashing.

The laptop I use for my education suddenly died on me, and since I'm really dependant on it I had to replace it on short notice. I decided to go with a black 2,4 GHz/2GB MacBook, and I must say I'm impressed with the user experience. It is a relief to note that Mac OS X really provides a better user experience, or at least does so for me. I've been an Apple fanboy for ages but never got around to actually buying a Mac. Now that I have, I'm really glad I did it.

My PC is showing signs of old age as well and needs replacement too, but until Apple decides to finally design a "mythical midrange Mac minitower", as Dan Frakes over at Macworld calls it, I am affraid I will have to go with a new Windows PC.

I want to have the grace that Meredith at Merchant Ships has. She never ceases to amaze me in how she can put herself out there and let zingers not pass from her lips when people are not so cordial to her. Earlier this week she told a wonderful story of her son needing a dress coat for a wedding. In her post she talked about thinking about purchasing it new. And then God showed her His plan. What a wonderful post it was! Yet, the comments left me feeling like I needed to cross some T's and dot some I's on some folks. It was not the first time in a weeks time that someone had some unkind, snarky, just plain not their place rude comments to her post on how she chooses to spend her families hard earned money. It was more than I could stand I tell ya. I wanted to write a snappy remark to those but I refrained. Thanks to God's hands over my keyboard and a 1 year old trying to eat dog food. But I sometimes wonder if people were face to face with a person would they really openly scrutinizes someone's purchases? Would they tell them how it is silly to spend so much or so little? Or question their sharing of their finds? I don't think so. People have what I call keyboard courage. Rarely would someone dare to be so purposefully rude. Or aleast I think so.

But Meredith handles it all with grace and a sweet attitude. What a great spirit to have! This is why I enjoy reading her blog (daily I might add). I am inspired by her attitude. It makes me want to stretch myself and makes me reflect on who I am.

Rest assure Meredith, when God calls you home you will not be judged by if you spent $189 or $1.89 on a blazer. It will be how you showed His mercy and grace when faced with judging people. i want to be you when I grow up. :)

God Bless,
