noch nicht ganz, aber in ein paar Stunden wird es so weit sein. Ich werde endlich nach Hauterive ins Kloster fahren ... Diese Erholung habe ich auch wirklich nötig.

Am Freitag war mein letzter Arbeitstag im Ammann Verlag in Zürich. Die letzten Tage waren, wie praktisch bei jedem Arbeitgeber, recht stressig. Stolz schaute ich am Freitag auf mein erstes Archivprojekt, das ich für eine Firma erledigt hatte. Es war wirklich toll, ich war echt stolz! Es brauchte zwar viel Nervenkraft, doch schlussendlich ist doch was dabei rausgekommen.

An diesem Weekend einfach wieder mal chillen. Habe meine Homepage umgestaltet - oder zumindest damit begonnen. Eine Seite klemmt noch, dooferweise genau die Fotoseite! Na toll. Es werden bald noch mehr Links zum Weblog führen, ihr werdet sehen ... Gestern war ich noch im Kino, der Film Wanted war angesagt. Ein wirklich cooler Film, wirklich empfehlenswert! Die Story ist zwar gut, die Actionsszenen aber nicht immer realistisch. Immerhin ein wenig realer als bei den Kill-Bill-Filmen, wo es ja nur noch ums Töten geht. Nein, danke, sehe mir lieber wieder mal einen Louis de Funese an in Original Französisch. Heute noch ein wenig packen und abreisen. Bis auf bald dann.

Google is talking over the world. Plain and simple. It's like a cult and they're spreading - fast. So anyway, google has launched their new web browser called Google Chrome.

Ironically, I don't see where the 'Chrome' part comes in..but whatever, it's just a name right? So anyway, apparently, Chrome has a lot of features quite "similar" you might say (or others might say stolen from), to many other internet browsers.

As you can see, there are A LOT of different features from multiple browsers that are implemented in Google Chrome. Now, because of this, many people may boycott it all together, choosing to remain loyal to the browsers they've used for so long. "If it ain't broke, don't fix it" many might say. However, you do need to give Google some props for collaborating all of the features that we liked in other browsers. Plus, since Google wasn't already involved in the web browser loop, it made sense for them, being an outside company, to take in everyone else's features. Because a browser like Firefox would not be able to do that since they already had their own individuality and pros and cons and what not. Firefox is already known for certain features, as do the other browsers.

Google Chrome's individuality and what they will be known for is collaborating all of our favorite features into one browser. That's where their originality lies. However I do think that they could've tried to add something new.

However, though Google used some of the modern streamline features in Chrome, I highly dislike that they left out basics such as a homepage button. I keep finding myself trying to click to go to my homepage when the button isn't there. It wasn't until I found the option to 'Always show bookmarks bar' that some of that frustration was alleviated. For some reason, I feel that their attempt at simplicity and making a cleaner user interface backfired a bit because many people are used to the set-up that almost every single browser uses. Now, I completely understand that they might want to stray from the pack and come up with something that looks completely new on the outside (although it has features on the inside that they took right out of the book) but since so many people are used to the usual menu icons such as File, Edit, View, History, Tools etc. being in their usual place, Chrome may lose some potential users due to such extreme unfamiliarity. Even though they compressed options from those menus into two buttons on the right hand side, some people may find it hard to break the habit of automatically moving to the left to get to their menu options.

Another thing I highly dislike about Chrome, besides it not having a Home button, is not having a Stop Loading button such as the X in between the refresh button and the home button. So if you accidentally load a page you don't want to, and you want to immediately stop the page from continuing, you either have to close the browser entirely or remember to keep an additional tab open so you can X out of the one you don't want. (I suppose the reason they don't have a home page is because the use Opera's and Firefox Extension's 'Speed Dial' function as their custom homepage when you open a new tab. It immediately shows some of your most visited pages and your browsing history.)

However, one good feature of Chrome is that if one tab/page crashes, you can close that tab individually, without having to close the entire browser.

So overall I think Google Chrome has some good points to it but needs some more work. To be quite honest, I don't feel that Google Chrome is quite necessary but of course Google has to make their mark on all the virtual frontiers because that's just what they do. They spread out and try to take over...haha Google is going to take over the world, one computer at a time.

diciamo non molte cose...

-un blocco notes(integrato in windows) o un programma come frontpage, dreamweaver(molto buono)
-Tempo, occorre un po di tempo per creare un web ben realizzato.
-Fantasia, questa è la chiave di tutto, senza essa non si realizza un web.

Potete anche abbinare la conoscenza html ad un programma che crea siti, dato che li crea in questo formato voi potrete poi andare a modificare il codice in modo da migliorare il lavoro.

I am finally experimenting with inserting an image.  The blogs of  some of the other people on the course are beginning to look extremely slick and its obvious that those who already have some knowledge of these technologies are beginning to streak ahead. 

Thanks to  FlickrCC however I now have an image to express my feelings about the whole thing so all is not lost... I'm just about to attempt a 'homepage' which looks like a very useful tool for someone who finds all these links and feeds and accounts a bit intimidating and would like to be able to pin them all down in one place.

Tim Allan Weddingmusic

Gestern ging es um musicanozze - Hochzeitsmusik aus Italien - und heute noch einmal um dasselbe Thema. Tim Allan ist einer der besten Banjo Spieler der Welt, aber er spielt auch Gitarre, Mandola und er singt.

Die Melodie von Doktor Schiwago dient hier als Demonstartion seiner ausgefeilten Technik. Bis zu 4 Stimmen gleichzeitig sind zu hören. Das Ganze kommentiert Tim auch noch.

Bei der Mandola handelt es sich übrigens um ein Instrument von Weber, ein Instrument das super klingt. Auf der Homepage von Tim Allan findet man, dass Tim Allen diese Mandolas promotet. Dazu heisst es auf seiner Homepage:

In 2002 Tim became an artist representative for "Weber" mandolins, built by Bruce Weber, whose company is called "Sound To Earth" in Belgrade, Montana ... The picture to the right shows Tim with the octave mandolin, "Fern" model, which Bruce Weber made for him. Tim has tuned it to the higher mandola tuning, C, G, D, A, identical to the tenor banjo. The beautiful rich sound is enhanced by Tim's choice of using octave higher strings on the third and fourth pairs of strings - similar to a 12-string guitar.

Die Mandola ist also gestimmt wie ein Tenorbanjo, und bei den Tiefen Saiten ist die zweite Saite jeweils eine Okatve höher gestimmt.

Google Chrome UI looks really good. The google have made yet another great user interface. Its really different from its counterparts and gives a clean and simple look and feel ..

Its rendering is really good.  it is a real threat to IE

The tabs of Chrome is really looking good. unlike the downward tabs of firefox iot has a better looking upward tabs

The omnibox feature is looking great at the moment.  the auto completeion is really good and i guess \this will get improved in the days to come

The Home page that is the most useful feature  for most of the users (and for some people might be most annoying  feature).  the thumbnail give us an idea of the history in a better way than the existing methods of IE and Firefox. it shows the recent visits, recent searches recently closed tabs and bookmarks. thwe history section is completely redifend in chrome

The google Chrome can fetch a website from the google cache if the actual webpage is not working.

incognito mode is yet to be tested.

I had read the comic about google chrome last day . it was really good..

The way the google marketed the new product was simply unbelivable. in just 2 days it created much news than firefox 3 could do in a month.

We wanted to make the process of doing the most common updates on the site even easier. So now, you can make a pledge, see a list of all of your pledges and 'pip' the ones that you've made progress on, update your status, and upload photos (including from your Flickr account) - all from one little box, without having to leave the home page. Phew.

We're particularly proud of the fancy (read geeky) "Add a photo" tab that loads in all of the technical stuff only when you click to keep the home page loading nice and fast.

Watch out for lots more new things happening on the Odadeo home page as we gear up for getting the site ready for Public Beta over the next few weeks.

It's been long overdue. I still need to put in some of my new art (most of what I have there in my galleries are from 2006) and I need to change the confirmation page on the email form (it's on a wonky default format), but otherwise I'm pretty happy with it.

In other news, World Building Month is officially over. I'm halfway done with compiling the last showcase, and I apologize that I haven't been around this last week. I'm currently about 92,000 words into my book, halfway through the last chapter. Writing the last twenty percent, I've heard, is harder than the previous eighty, and they're right. Now that I've slogged through it, I think that writing a last chapter is comparable to climbing up a wall by one's fingernails. Isn't writing glamorous?
