Aqui podríamos hacer un buen debate. A muy poquita gente le ha gustado, a mucha gente le ha sonado como si Metallica intentaran volver a sus origenes (sin éxito), y a otros les suena a bodrio. Aquí teneis The Day Never Comes

Un tema de Metallica que recuerda a los 80, a esos temas tipo Fade To Black, One, etc... con una producción actual. La verdad es que van a reeditar el single por su sonido malo, pero la canción es la verdadera.

Y ahora es cuando digo que a mi me ha gustado. Si, lo admito. Me ha gustado. Soy de esos pocos. Me gusta su comienzo tipo baladón muy bonito, después la parte intermedia que llega el trash y al final los solos ratoneros de Kirk. Me gusta hasta la batería de Lars (por cierto, que manía le tengo a ese tío). Soy de los poquitos. Pero me da igual. Me parece un muy buen tema.

the sarong can be fashioned into a manskirt. often worn outside of the western world, it struggles to find its purpose and place amongst our society. this is for good reason, actually. the man in the manskirt is not one to be trifled with.

3 reasons to fear the manskirt:

A manskirt wearer has no fear. He lives in a world with no rules, where balls hang free.
The manskirteer has unsurpassed maneuverability. His range of kicking motion is unheard of in even in the samurai world, and coupled with the gratuitous junk-flashing inherent to such kicks, it makes for a lethal combination.
The sarong doubles as a weapon itself, making for an impenetrable defense. Said defense is also quite potent as the offensive side is usually quite put off and somewhat demoralized by their opponents sub-waist nudity.

Backstreet Boys working on their next album

Yup!!!

The boys have started working on their next album according to sources. Well, "Unbreakable" was extremely good and got more recognition than "Never Gone", so we can just hope that their next album does much much more than Unbreakable, and breaks all the records.

AJ Mclean has announced that his solo album will be releasing this year and even Howie Dorough's solo will release.

BSB member Nick Carter said that inspite of being busy with their solo albums, the members are concentrating harder on their group album.

Sources have said that the band might work with pop producer Max Martin, who was the producer of BSB's hits like “I Want It That Way” and “Show Me the Meaning of Being Lonely.”

The band has still got the space open for Kevin Richardson and would only be happy to have him back in the band.

Metallica is back with a new album titled Death Magnetic, scheduled for release on September 12, 2008.
The lead single is The Day That Never Comes, it was released on 21st August 2008.

The music video for the song was filmed in the desert outside Los Angeles, California on July 31, 2008 and was directed by Danish filmmaker Thomas Vinterberg.

Faber Drive's "Sleepless nights (never let her go)" vs. Jann Arden's "Good Mother" (with apologies to MattyWatky)

I've decided to create a blog posting about two music video's head to head. In this case, Faber Drive's "Sleepless Nights (never let her go)" and Jann Arden's "Good Mother".

I'll start off with "Sleepless Nights (never let her go)" by Faber Drive. My heart began to pounce when I watched this particular music video. It's quite very sad and shocking about the issues depicted in this particular music video. The biggest climax in the video is the argument between an abusive husband and a frail but self-explanatory wife. The worrysome son began to witness what had happened but the abusive father told him "not to cross the line" (or something like that).

The video continues on and at the end of the video the mother and her son drove away out of her abusive husband's life and the video ends completely. What I liked about this music video is that it is "Sweetened" with a hint of Brian Melo. I literally cried when watching this music video and if MattyWatky (Matthew Watkinson, a director who films rollerblading videos and stuff) has a second opinion about this video, he would weight himself in about the issues faced in this particular video (although this doesn't have to do with Faber Drive or anything else, you can view MattyWatky's interview here or here). Dude, if you are reading my blog post as of now, I am completely sorry if I had criticized you in this particular posting.

Anyways, let's move on to Jann Arden's "Good Mother". While this video relatively follow the same "vein" as Faber Drive's "Sleepless Nights", this particular music video depicts a homeless man on the rainy streets wondering what his future will be. He looks inside a box of stuff with black and white photos submerged in the rainy water. He looked at the photos and began to imagine himself what he looked like in his "better days" as a young boy. I literally cried on watching this video along with Faber Drive's video.

Old paisley ties. Actually, just old ties that haven't reached their vintage glory yet... so yea, just old and "trendy" back then, but looking just old and "snazzy" right now. Honestly, on second thought, there's potential to do the "ironic, cheap, old tie look" (or invent it pretty much)... but I'm not that brave (as the exact ones pictured here take quite a bit of courage). Hats off to those of you who are. Slight nod to those that make better selections than pictured and pull of the look without nearly as much effort.

Andy Bernard (from The Office) ties (not so high on my list). Best described as JCrew/Polo ties from a few too many seasons ago, that are bright and preppy without any vintage appeal. They hint at a crass, "I'm a jerkface" in an ill-fitting California tuxedo vibe. Can't write them all off, but notice the better ones are less in your face, more vintage, narrow, and less vibrant.

I thought I'd help out the web, because on brief searching I can't find any informative reviews for 'tallica's first single in 5 years.

If you don't know, thrash metal's (or more hard rock these days) premier name is putting out new album Death Magnetic on Sep 12, and yesterday they revealed The Day That Never Comes as the single, which seemingly is download only.

After the Black album (or inc. it if you weren't won over by it), Metallica trod the blues rock, novelty album and the nu-metal route which no one really liked the taste of, so in changing producer and using their new bass player's writing skills they've tried to deliver something that really recalls their 80's catalogue, with a hint of Black album and something contemporary.

First on the checklist is the song length at over 7mins. Metallica often write long songs so this tradition remains unchanged. But here we're greated with ballady arpeggiating guitars and gentle lead lines that recall Fade To Black/Sanitarium/One/The Unforgiven that then burst into Black album, or perhaps Load-y choruses. The latter half of the song is a series of attempts to rock out and it seems like they're going down memory lane with hints of the One solo, Am I Evil, Motorbreath, and Kill 'Em All stye solo-ing.

This is not the best thing Metallica have ever done, but this is the best thing they've done in a while and can do. And I like it because my expectation was met: Metallica will only play thrash metal live and that will be their back catalogue. Writing wise Black album as a spring board is acheievable, they know that and they're mining it. Well done.

Some criticism now. Lars is not the same drummer he used to be. He may not be clanging a bin lid here like on '03's St. Anger album, but he's still playing rather basic and tame. He was never the most gifted drummer in metal, but there was a time when he was very creative to make up for that (AJFA) and had the heavy drum sound to die for (Black). But at least he plays for the song and doesn't contaminate it with over use of 2 kick drums like many young metal bands.

James also sounds more older and hippy-ish than ages ago. But hey, the guy's 5 years away from 50. Give him a break. But he's not goofy sounding like on St. Anger. Likewise Kirk is playing solos after having no real defining role on St. Anger.
As for Rob, he doesn't stand out in this song - that would be Cyanide, at the moment - but his bass sounds good.

Also bare in mind the download version of the song will fortunately not be the same as the CD. An encoding error for the web resulted in some nasty clipping that a Mission Metallica personnel confirmed. I expect the quality on CD will be as easy on the ears as their Remember Tomorrow cover for a Kerrang Maiden tribute CD.

I'm not shelling out for the coffin box set, but I think within reason Death Magnetic will be the best album since Black album. Not better, not worse, but an antidote to St. Anger and the indulgent Load era. I think Metallica 'get it' again.

It's like a walking magic trick that never ceases to amaze me. Some people can do it, and some can't. The reason for this, I do not know and could not begin to explain. For some reason, some men can button their dress shirts up to the top, not wear a tie, and command a great deal of respect. Under the exact same circumstances other men go this route and make for a laughable image.

It's the invisible pet dog (80's babies, you know the deal) of the runway. The air guitar solo down your chestplate. The elephant in the room, that's more an elephant within a jacket... that's not in the jacket... and is actually just a silk necktie... only not there... so, that... yes.
