Given how truly unremarkable and utterly useless the BMW X3 is, you'd assume that those Bavarian Boys would have given up trying to fill every niche on the planet and instead focused their attentions on dealing with the serious styling problems of the current E90 3 series saloon (which has all the satorial elegance, panache & desirability of Jade Goodie drenched in cat sick wearing a string bikini).

But no, Boris & Gunter have instead decided to waste a shed load of time & money by taking the second most pointless car in the BMW range (the 1 series) increasing its roof height, sticking in a permanent 4x4 system and producing something with all the appeal of Postman Pat's van.

This gut renchingly awful looking X1 is meant to compete with the likes of the new Ford Kuga, but with an entry level list price of over forty thousand euro you'd have to be permanently off your face on a bag of Quaaludes to even consider it.

Due out in late 2009 - if you're bonkers enough to care.

Mazda have just released pictures of the

There is a clear family resemblance with the new 6, especially around the rear lights. There is a clear evolutionary link with the previous model, indeed the middle section looks like it has been carried over, making me think that Mazda have gone down to route that VW took with the Mark VI Golf. And it seems that the Chris Bangle's work at BMW continues to influence design around the world - just take a look at the base of the mid-section. This design first started on the BMW 1-Series and can now been seen on the Kia C'eed and Seat Ibiza.

I am not too sure about the front end, where it looks like Mazda is suffering from Peugeot-itis. It also looks like the forthcoming Renault Megane.

I would be interested to hear what other people think of the design. Have you always been a fan of the Mazda 3, or even 323?

There's nothing quite like the style or the sound of an honest, powerful sports car. And right from day one – in the fall of 1966 – the Chevrolet Camaro never compromised. This classic Chevy is the V8-powered, rear-wheel-drive muscle car for millions of enthusiasts. Here are some milestones in this purebred's lineage.

The first of the camaro's came out in 1966. One of the most popular models is the 1969. Right now, models available in the 69 can go for upwards of 100000.00. Did you see the VHI fashion awards?

They featured the new 2009 model. With stylings that look like a modernized version of the classic 69, it is sure to be a hit.

The only thing that is concerning is whether or not it will be able to compete with the economy in the dumps.

Coming up lets look at the Chevy Volt being developed.

You may have noticed that the truck market has become very hotlately. It seems that you don’t have

You may have noticed that the truck market has become very hot
lately. It seems that you don’t have to have construction type
jobs to own a truck these days. In the past foreign trucks
struggled with quality issues. Now a days all manufacturers have
stepped up in quality and have produced their own profitable
truck market segment.

The Toyota Tundra was previously known as a light-weight duty
truck, but since 2007, the Tundra has upped the heavy-duty
competitive bar. Toyota has also started an aggressive branding
of their tundra line to compete more aggressively with American
car manufacturers. By keeping the brand in front of the customer
you slowly begin to program potential buyers into the fact that
there is a better truck out there, and you don’t always have to
buy American to get the best product. There newest commercials
show the trucks being used by hard working laboring men in
various jobs. This promotes some pride in the job and shows that
it is ok to have a foreign truck doing an American job. This not
only helps the bottom line for sales but also spurs on the
transition from the industrial age to that of a global economy.

If you’re looking to buy a truck that is affordable and
reliable, then Toyota might be the dealer to call on. The Toyota
Tundra is well known for it’s heavy duty utility features and is
appealing to many middle class families. Many people who work in
the construction field look to buying a Toyota truck because of
its quality. Heavy duty features are also promoted in television
commercials which help you realize the quality design built into
the truck. In the past foreign trucks did not always mean
quality, just a lower price. They never really had a good
reputation.

The Tundra also has 4 wheel drive, meaning that all wheels
roll, verses the 2 wheel drive, where the two back tires push
the front. You can buy a Tundra with different engines, so
depending on how much torque you are looking for and how much
heavy duty work you do, you will need to decide if you want a
4.7L V 8; 5.7L V8; or a 4.0L V 6. The lower the liters you get,
the less oil you will have to worry about and the less gas it’ll
burn. So if you do construction work and are looking for
something that can survive toting around heavy tools, then you
may only need a 4 liter. But if you are really into the
construction field and are moving around large chunks of wood,
heavy machinery and such, you may want to look at the 4.7L
engine.

Besides the Toyota Tundra, there is the option of buying a
Toyota Tacoma. This is truly a light-weight duty truck. There
have been some changes to the Tacoma over the past few years and
is now more spacious and comfortable to be in. The Toyota Tacoma
pickup truck has 4 doors and a long crew cab. There are two
choices of engines, the 4,0L V 6 or the 2.7L Inline 4. It can
also tow up to 6,500 pounds.

Toyota manufacturers are known for producing quality vehicles
and many people in the US love and purchase these Japanese owned
vehicles. They are reliable and huge contender for Ford, Dodge
and General Motors. If you’ve been thinking about getting a
Toyota Tundra or Tacoma, you might be making a really good
decision.

Well, it's been a while! But the obscure ridiculous titles are back. The worst thing about my absence is that anyone who checks on my blog every now and then will have been given the impression that the only event in my life worth blogging about over the past few months has been my eldest son peeing on my youngest son.

Anyway after a long period of absence from the blogosphere I pledge to publish at least 2 posts in the next 2 weeks (this one included). This task will be made easier by the fact that I have recently acquired an iphone 3G which immediately gives me endless nerdy material about all the cool stuff I can now do with my phone which I am sure will change my life in ways I can not even begin to imagine...

But back to the intended topic for discussion for this post: 'part 1'. Basically, new cars....why?

I was pleased to acquire a new vehicle over the summer. The change was probably overdue and was most welcomed by my good wife who regarded my previous mode of transport (an Audi TT) as the embodiment of my (early) mid life crisis. Thankfully this 'reckless' period of my life appears to be over and my Volkswagen Passat at less than half the horse (& probably pulling (not that this concerns me :) )) power is a more appropriate and a little less flashy family car.

My 'new' car is in fact just over 3 years old, it is an ex-lease hire vehicle and has been fully serviced, and being in good all round condition (& a diesel Volkswagen) should drive well for the next 100,000 miles at least. The price? Just over £4000.

Which leaves me with the question: 'Why do people buy new cars?'

I genuinely don't get it. Is it just to enjoy the 'newness' and if so is it a price worth paying? A new VW passat of similar spec to mine would cost well over £15k. I cannot imagine that spending an extra £11K on my car would result in any significantly increased satisfaction or other benefits. Maybe it's a desire for hassle free motoring in terms of maintenance etc. Again £11K would go along way in maintenance bills and modern cars are generally so reliable anyway.

So please enlighten me because it seems to me that if you buy new cars you must have money to burn!

Having said that, if you are in the habit of buying cars new from the showroom, it is important that you continue to do so. A high demand for new cars means there will always be plenty of second hand cars which in turn keeps the market value of used cars low for stingy gits like me.

The downside of this however is that sadly I have as yet been unable to sell my TT. So if you know anyone who might be interested let me know (late 2000 Audi TT 225bhp, denim blue, full leather, 80k miles, FSH, all usual TT extras, excellent condition. First to see will buy! £7000)

:)

The 2008 Honda Accord reliability score of 7.0 out of 10 is the Predicted Reliability rating provide

The 2008 Honda Accord reliability score of 7.0 out of 10 is the Predicted Reliability rating provided by J.D. Power and Associates. This score is based on trending the past three years of historical initial quality and dependability data from J.D. Power's automotive studies, specifically the Vehicle Dependability Study (VDS) and the Initial Quality Study (IQS).

The 2008 Honda Accord provides a three-year or 36,000 mile bumper-to-bumper limited warranty, as well as a five-year or 60,000 mile powertrain limited warranty. Corrosion protection is provided for the first five years, regardless of mileage.

Honda has a consistent record for selling reliable vehicles, and the 2007 model received very good marks for its predicted reliability. Consumer Guide rates the 2008 Accord as a Best Buy, but reports a few mechanical issues with previous Accords, including issues that range from defective sunroofs to the spontaneous activation of engine or brake warning lights. Still, reviews uphold Honda's reputation for reliability.

No, it's the 2010 Chevy Orlando, a concept vehicle due to be shown off at the Paris Motor Show next week. It's pretty similar to the 2010 Chevy Cruze, but as you can see, it's got some pretty dramatic blue lighting on its exterior. I'm not quite sure if its completely ridiculous or totally awesome; it probably falls somewhere between the two. I mean, Tron lights are awesome, but Tron lights on a glorified minivan? It's interesting, at least. Hit the jump for a shot of this with its sunroof glowing, then head over to Jalopnik to see many, many more pictures of this thing.

Popular Mechanics had a post on their site comparing Toyota's Prius to the new diesel-powered Volkswagen Jetta and they got some interesting results.

The Prius dominated in city driving with 44.7 miles per gallon compared to the Jetta's 32 MPG. This is likely due to the Prius's hybrid powertrain system: when you stop at a light or stop sign in the Prius, the engine shuts off, so you don't burn ANY fuel. Interesting to note is that their Prius got 3 MPG less than it's EPA rating while the Jetta for 4 MPG more than it's EPA rating.

Although the Prius wins in city driving, the Jetta wins for highway cruising. At a constant 65 mph, their Prius got 44.8 MPG while their Jetta TDI got 45.4 MPG. Although not a huge difference, its cool to see that diesels are still a great option for excellent fuel economy. The Popular Mechanic's article said that the TDI gets a $1,300 tax credit for using "Lean Burn Technology" and the Prius's tax credit is no longer available, making the Jetta $1,320 cheaper than the Prius.

Moral of the story: If you do a lot of city driving, get a Prius. If you're mostly on the highway, want to save some bucks and like the smell of a new Volkswagen, check out the 2009 Jetta TDI.

With petrol and diesel prices rising, motorists are looking for more ways to save money on fuel.

Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) – or Autogas – is an alternative fuel which costs about half the price of petrol and has lower CO2 emissions, but lower fuel economy.

We revealed if switching to LPG could save you money – but what’s it like to own an LPG-powered car? Have you converted your car to run on LPG?

We took five popular UK cars to see how much they’d save by converting to LPG – and the Audi A4 came out on top with an annual saving of £794 per year.

With an average engine conversion fee of £1,600, it can take around three years before you notice a saving in fuel costs.

Most engines can be converted to run on LPG, and some cars will run on LPG from new - including the Proton ecoLogic Gen-2.

Owners of LPG cars can generally expect to see a 20 per cent decrease in fuel economy (MPG) however, when compared to petrol and diesel cars.

The LPG trade association, UKLPG, claims long-term savings from lower fuel costs make up for this.

There are more ways to save money on fuel, including reverse parking, changing gear at the correct time and inflating your tyres to the correct pressure.

Would you ever consider converting your car to run on LPG to save money?

What are your experiences with LPG? Is it as reliable as petrol and diesel?

The sad news:

You know, no matter how ugly,or sad, or pathetic your car may be. The time you spend driving it, You somehow become bonded. So, the old car fondly known as "The BM" has finally come to the end of it's stay. It is time to say goodbye to the good ol' BM.

[caption id="attachment_333" align="aligncenter" width="500" caption=""THE BM""][/caption]

No matter how bad it looks, every morning I went out and it started no matter how cold it may have been. However, The BM is tired, it is time to say goodbye.

A moment of silence please...

Now onto the good news:

I got a new (to me) car. It's a 2003 Chevy Malibu that is of course a beautiful teal color. All of us women know that color is a very important issue. I am very excited to be driving my new baby around. Check her out.

[caption id="attachment_334" align="aligncenter" width="500" caption="New To Me "][/caption]

So now the only problem I have is what to call her.

"Goodbye BM, Hello_______________________!"

Any suggestions?

Everyone knows about the first ever electric car in India. It is none other than Reva that has been popular for its unique way of satisfying the customers’ needs.

Now again the car manufacturer has surprised many of the customers when it organized “Petrol to Electric Car Exchange Mela” in Bangalore on 13th & 14th of September at its showroom.

Reva has an electric car manufacturing plant in Bangalore with an installed facility to manufacture 6,000 cars per annum. The company wants to increase its share in the Indian car market and for the first time ever the buyers had a good chance to exchange their petrol cars for a brand new electric car – the REVAi.

The company senses that this was a big step towards gratifying the growing need for a suitable, cost effective, environment friendly transportation alternative.

Mahindra First Choice, a used car dealer, has done the evaluation for exchanged cars. Even State Bank of India, which is the partner for this exchange fair also participated in assisting customers on finance matters.

The company also feels that this is the best way to protect customer’s pockets by going for electric cars that are user friendly.

In 2008, Toyota redesigned the Highlander hybrid. It now has third row seating and fits seven passengers. The third row can also be folded down easily for extra storage. The Highlander hybrid has a V-6 engine along with three electric motors, one that functions as a starter-generator, one that charges the battery pack, and one that aids propulsion. Its fuel tank holds around 17 gallons. The Highland gets about 27 mpg in the city and 25 mpg on the highway.

Toyota also received an excellent safety rating for this hybrid SUV. It contains anti-lock brakes, stability control, and front seat side airbags, side curtain airbags, and a driver’s knee airbag. Seatbelt pretensioners automatically tighten seatbelts during a collision. There is also a back-up camera standard in the vehicle. When the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) conducted its crash-tests on the Highlander they gave it five stars for driver front safety, and four stars for passenger front safety.

It is possible to buy previously owned Toyota Highlander hybrid SUVs at your local Virginia or Kansas Toyota dealership, although many of the new features were added to the 2008 models so check your local dealerships and auto sites for specific details about each year’s model. The 2008 Highlander hybrid starts at $27,500 for a basic model.

Crazy? maybe.. but it's deffinatly modern. The Paradox is a three-wheeler coupe', while this is not an original idea...why not get into the game? This would be a futuristic choice for a super-car, with equivelent power to the Fleur Âme.. why care about the price?
