Kanye West was crowned the “Hottest MC in the Game” Friday night by the MTV News hip-hop brain trust. The Grammy-winning rapper topped Jay-Z, Lil Wayne, Rick Ross, and Snoop Dogg, who rounded out the top five.West landed at number five on last year’s list, which Weezy easily soared to the top of. The New Orleans rapper’s stock seemed to drop due to the time it’s taking for him to deliver his long-waited Tha Carter III album.’ Ye’s last 12 months have been nothing short of outstanding. The Chicago lyricist bested 50 Cent in their much-hyped SoundScan showdown, notched a number one album with his third LP, Graduation, and has sold out seats for weeks now on his “Glow In The Dark.” The Roc-A-Fella rapper also lost his mother, Donda West, to complications that arose from cosmetic surgery. He immortalized her in performances overseas and at last year’s Grammy performance.

To say that Kanye has been resilient is an understatement. 50 Cent landed at number six on the list, rising two spots from his eighth place standing previously. The G-Unit general rebounded with several solid mixtape efforts and the launch of his new business venture, ThisIs50.com. Lupe Fiasco, Young Jeezy, Andre 3000, and T.I. make the complete top-ten list. Ross, Snoop, and Lupe were the only new additions compared to the 2007 edition.

Larry Sinclair has just provided an update about the ongoing Chicago Police investigation of the murder of Donald Young, the gay choir master at TUCC, in December of 2007. Sinclair has provided the Chicago Police with phone numbers he allegedly was given by Donald Young, shortly before his death. The following exerpt is from Sinclair's blog:

"In my cooperation with the Chicago Police Department, I provided them with all the phone numbers I had provided the Obama Campaign as requested. I was told by the CPD that once they had received the numbers from me, then the CPD would obtain a Grand Jury Subpoena to obtain the phone records directly from the cell Phone company.

Now that leads me to the question: Will the Chicago Police Department subpoena the records of Barack Obama and Rev. Jeremiah Wright in the investigation of the murder of Donald Young?"

Read more about the Allegations regarding Obama's drug use, down low activity and possible knowledge of Donald Young's murder here:

The Berryhill Class of 2008 graduation was today. It made me think of when I graduated high school. vThe Corona Senior High School class of 1967 had more than 700 in it. That is a long time to watch kids cross the stage. The editor's name came toward the beginning.
After the outdoor ceremony held in the Corona, Calif. football stadium, the class boarded buses to go to Disneyland for the night.
Despite the editor's earlier comments about going to Mannford she too is moving on in a way. She plans to keep producing the pictures and copies for Tulsa County News.
It puts off by 3.5 years her retirement from Southwest Tulsa.
Comparing Southwest Tulsa and Mannford , the editor had a chance to reflect on the candidate s, the votes, the important initiatives that Tulsa provides. Having not been the Mannford editor really, she doesn't know for sure, but she doubts Mannford would have the same excitement.
Southwest Tulsa has a special niche that she is proud of.

I'll admit it, I used to have a huge crush on Shania Twain. And I used to ernjoy her music. I went to one of her concerts here in Ottawa. She used to be in men's magazines like Maxim and FHM.

Now, I couldn't name any songs she's done in the past five years (if she's done any), and I think she does covers for Redbook and magazines like that.

How far she's fallen, eh?

Now, she's getting a divorce from her husband. It'll be interesting to see what happens to her in the next year or two. Will she reinvent herself with her music career? Or will she continue to not be that noticable to the mainstream?

Hopefully it's the former.

* Mistake happens in Life. I did it too, you may have done it in the past. There is no point of digging grave. Probabaly time to do some work to make sure that it will not happen again.

XKCD Tribute.

* Kstar (Akarsh Simha, GSoC candidate of KDE Project, Kstars) is in city (I mean his hometown!) enjoying his vacation, so I decided to meet him on Friday. I wanted to do it on Saturday but some other plan was there which indeed never happen and that is another story itself. Anyway, we met near MG Road/Brigede Road junction and went to Pizza Hut. Nice disucssion of 2 hours, nice pizzas and finally mandatory click. We talked from Debian to FOSS culture in IITM (Note that IITM has 2 most active DDs from India!).

* So, my Saturday was totally wasted due to silly things. Dear Kushal was not there in town -- so, none was there to annoy from me. I thought I was able to wash my all dirty clothes in the morning but, it was power cut! I waited till 12PM to bathe (Indeed, you can't take bath without power as bathroom is too dark, and I fear cockroach too much).

Power went again around 6 PM and I went outside, wondered here and there, came back to home. Still no power. OMG, it came after 10.30 PM!

Yet another reason to hate this city, BLR.

I asked a well known player on Roblox "Sirloin" to have a interview. And you wouldn't beleive how he replied....he first said NO!!!! I kindly asked why and for no reason whats so ever he calls me a NOOB!!! So that gets me ticked off and I tell hes useless to the world.

I also copied the words he called me...

1. Explain how I'm a "N-O-O-B," and how you aren't. You don't use any proper grammar, punctuation, spelling, or capitalizations.
2. I'd say I'm important. I have a job moderating the forums (ie: deleting posts by noobs like you)
3. You won't be laughing when you're banned, you'll be crying.

P.S. I have more of a life than you will ever have. I have a family, friends, a girlfriend, and I don't waste my entire day on Roblox. Have a nice day. Get ready, you'll be punished for a personal attack soon enough.

After years of fretting over coming shortages, the country is actually facing a dwindling number of young people entering engineering and technology-related fields.

Universities call it “rikei banare,” or “flight from science.” The decline is growing so drastic that industry has begun advertising campaigns intended to make engineering look sexy and cool, and companies are slowly starting to import foreign workers, or sending jobs to where the engineers are, in Vietnam and India.

Sorry everyone, I've had some trouble with wordpress lately. I'll be more active from now on, I promise. Wordpress doesn't let you edit the templates or use your own, so I have to use the ones they provide. Ah well, less work for me! xD

Woot! Long weekend, everyone! ^^ Well for Canadians like myself it is (Monday is Victoria Day). :P I haven't had a PA Day is FOREVER. I need this long weekend. I have lots of homework, though. First I have the rough draft of my Geography ISU to complete (hehe I only have about two of the eight done).
And I also have to re-do my poetry assignment. -.- My English teacher says I can 'do better' so I'm just going with a whole new poem. This time I will do "Acquainted With The Night" by Robert Frost (at the end of blog). It's a really good poem, it might actually be my favourite, next to a haiku (also at the end of blog).

That's all for now, I have a busy weekend, so I'll try my best to keep with everyone. (:

Acquainted With The Night by Robert Frost

I have been one acquainted with the night.
I have walked out in rain - and back in rain.
I have outwalked the furthest city light.
I have looked down the saddest city lane.
I have passed by the watchman on his beat
And dropped my eyes, unwilling to explain.

I have stood still and stopped the sound of feet
When far away an interrupted cry
Came over houses from another street,

But not to call me back or say good-bye;
And further still at an unearthly height,
One luminary clock against the sky

Proclaimed the time was neither wrong nor right.
I have been one acquainted with the night.

Financial Times
May 17, 2008

More Europeans do not want their leaders to attend the opening ceremony of the Beijing Olympic Games than do, with the strongest opposition coming from France and Germany, according to an opinion poll carried out for the Financial Times.

The Financial Times/Harris poll shows that 54 per cent of French people and 55 per cent of Germans oppose their leaders going to the opening on August. 8. Support for attendance in both countries runs at a little less than 30 per cent.
.
Opposition is strong in Italy, where 48 per cent oppose attendance and 32 per cent support it, and in Britain, where 43 per cent oppose and 25 per cent favour Gordon Brown’s presence. The view is more balanced in Spain, where 39 per cent oppose and 35 per cent favour José Luis Zapatero going. In Japan, 45 per cent oppose the attendance of Yasuo Fukuda, the prime minister, 10 percentage points more than favour it.

The opinions appear correlated with knowledge about recent protests against China’s rule over Tibet.

In France, 84 per cent of people said they had heard a lot about the protests, while 16 per cent had heard a little. In Germany, 51 per cent had heard a lot and 44 per cent a little. In China, 46 per cent of people had heard a lot about the protests and 50 per cent a little.

According to the poll, a majority of Europeans believes Tibet should not be under Chinese rule, ranging from 53 per cent in Britain to about three-quarters in Germany and Italy.

Sixty-nine per cent of Japanese thought Tibet should not be governed by China.

A majority of Europeans also believes that human rights should be a central feature of foreign policy. But support in Britain (53 per cent) is weaker than in other European countries polled. In France, Italy and Germany, 80 per cent or more of people support the notion and 77 per cent do in Spain.

Backing for that idea is also weaker in Japan, where 56 per cent see human rights as a central plank of foreign policy and in China, where 45 per cent take that view.

The poll was conducted online by Harris Interactive among more than 1,000 adults in each country. Harris does not estimate the poll’s margin of error, arguing that to do so would be misleading.

Originally From IGN

I'm going to give my 2 cent right now. I see a lot of ignorance online when people discuss a Wii game's graphics. They fail to realize just how much effort is put in or what exactly are they looking at. Make sure you watch the high resolution video at IGN to see it in better quality!!!

Me, I see lots of shaders being used. I also see where they could improve on. The monster climbing up the wall still uses some low res textures. Hopefully, they'll be able to implement environment-map bump mapping on this creature in the finished product. The same can be said about the organic gun.

The alien gun is very interesting. It kind of reminds me of Prey. Since the guns are usually the most close up object, you see the best use of graphical effects by looking at the guns. So far, there doesn't appear to be any interesting shaders on the guns themselves though. Hopefully, this will change in the final game. The All Seeing Eye thingy looks good though. It also showed off some dynamic lighting when the All Seeing Eye is used to shine on things.

The environments themselves move by too quickly to really see much, but I like the out door areas shown so far. I couldn't see any heavy bump maps yet, but I did see the water's already beautifully (although very dark in the video) done. Perhaps more day time screens or videos to show off more of the surroundings.

Some people might say this doesn't look as good as the tech demo, and you know what, you're right. The problem is that the tech demo is just that, a demo. They can put together whatever they want to show off their effects. In the game, you can't just randomly shove unrelated things together to show off graphical effects. Plus, the demo is just there to render a single room with no gameplay interaction taking place. The actual game isn't just a room with a few objects in it. A big game would require time, effort, and money to build, and the game itself is far from finished. What I saw was a fairly generic shooter with some very interesting guns, and some nice graphics that still needs a lot of polishing up. Make sure you watch the high resolution video at IGN to see it in better quality!!!

The watershed ruling made the runner,Oscar Pistorius, the first amputee to successfully challenge the notion that his carbon-fiber prosthetics gave him an unfair advantage and assured his right to race against able-bodied athletes in the Olympics, should he qualify. Previously barred from competing in such races by track and field’s world governing body, Pistorius will continue to stoke the debate over the competitive issues created by evolving technology in sports.

The ruling’s direct impact on disabled athletes could be limited, in part because Pistorius, 21, still must post a time fast enough to qualify for the Games. Yet his victory Friday in the Court of Arbitration for Sport sent a message that could long resonate among Paralympians.

Although I think it's great that certain amputees are able to compete directly with able-bodied athletes in the Olympics, I don't agree with this ruling. In this case, he actually has an unfair advantage. His prosthetic legs are lighter and more elastic than real legs and muscle fatigue is a non issue. His heart also doesn't need to pump blood to his legs providing him with increased oxygen uptake in other muscles.

Three lessons from history for printing up money…
“WE CAN PAY ANYBODY by running a print

Three lessons from history for printing up money...

"WE CAN PAY ANYBODY by running a printing press, frankly," said Thomas Gale Moore, one of Ronald Reagan's economic advisors, when the United States became a net debtor to its foreign investors in 1986.

"[So] it's not clear to me how bad [being a net debtor] is," he added. And for the next two decades or so, owning fewer assets overseas than foreigners laid claim to inside the United States didn't seem so bad at all.

The long boom delivered by a steady inflow of foreign credit and cash delivered the greatest stock market gains ever enjoyed by US investors. When they topped out, the party switched straight into real estate – adding more than one-third to America's household wealth on the Federal Reserve's metrics.

So what if non-US claims on that surging wealth rose faster still? Now the party's over, inflating away the value of America's debt will worked just as beautifully as it always before. Right?

"In my view," says John H.Makin – a visiting scholar at the American Enterprise Institute writing in the Wall Street Journal – "the least bad option [in fixing the financial crisis] is for the Federal Reserve to print money to help stabilize housing prices and financial markets."

"America is a country that owes money," agrees Philippa Malmgren, a former Bush advisor and now head of a risk consultancy in London. "It is natural when you are a debtor that you lean in the direction of inflation, because it makes paying it back so much easier."

The logic is simple: inflate the number of Dollars in issue, and you'll shrink the real value of each outstanding Dollar you owe. But if escaping your debts really could prove that easy, how come history is littered with the mischief that inflation causes instead...?

Restoration England, 1668
Charles II – still playing his "divine right" as king some 20 years after Parliament cut off his father's head – steps up the issue of new bonds. Then called "stocks", they let the King raise cash for yet another losing war against the Dutch.

Charles side-steps Parliamentary approval for these new debts, and starts selling stocks against the promise of future tax receipts (the same wheeze adopted by governments worldwide today, of course). Come 1671, however, all the new money raised went straight to paying interest on the outstanding loans. So Charles opted to default, wiping out 11 of London's 14 biggest goldsmiths – those early banks who'd first lent the Crown money – and destroying his credit with England's loyal subjects.

The upshot? The King strikes a secret deal with France, promising to stay out of its war against the Dutch in return for regular cash pay-offs. But the deal – uncovered amid a rash of anti-Catholic panics in London – undermines all support for the Stuart royal family. Fifteen years later, and with the English crown bankrupt once more, his brother James II is overthrown in a popular and (pretty much) bloodless coup.

He's replaced by William of Orange...head of the Dutch Republic!

Revolutionary America, 1775
Lacking a mandate to tax its population while fighting a war, the second Continental Congress authorizes the "limited" issue of paper money. The new notes, known as Continentals, are backed by neither Gold nor silver, but by the expectation of future tax receipts.

Effectively acting as tradable bonds – but exchangeable for goods and services amongst the Patriots, rather than hard currency – the Continentals will only be redeemed when the Colonies win their independence from Great Britain. But long before that happy day, they race towards zero, becoming progressively worth less as their supply increases.

During the first six months, the supply of Continentals goes from $2 million to $6m. By 1779, the total supply reaches $242m on one estimate – more than twenty times the volume of gold & silver money in circulation before the war began.

"A wagonload of currency will hardly purchase a wagonload of provisions," complains George Washington. In March 1780, Congress announces a plan to redeem the Continentals at one-fortieth of their face value, effectively stuffing the American people and taxing the new citizenry more aggressively than George III ever did.

"So much for Congress's honor," notes Thomas E.Woods for Mises.org today. But for once, at least, these un-backed and over-inflated notes don't end with political or military defeat. Other than for the Patriots' cry for lower taxation, that is.

Weimar Germany, 1920
Besides losing 13% of its territory and 10% of its population under the Versailles Treaty after World War One, Germany also owes "reparations" to the Allied victors worth almost 37,000 tonnes of gold – around one-third of the world's entire above-ground supplies at the time.

Expected to settle the final payment seven decades later, the German government opts instead to pay early by printing money. The volume of Reichsnotes in issue rises 35 billion times over between 1918 and 1924 – and "the young and quick-witted did well," as the German journalist Sebastian Haffner will record, fifteen years later.

Equity prices in Berlin rose some 2,772,164% by the time a loaf of bread cost a wheel barrow-full of banknotes. The value of those Reichsnotes, however, went the other way – sinking from 8.0 per US Dollar to 4.2 billion per Dollar.

The resulting chaos, now regularly blamed for the rise of Hitler during the Great Depression of the early 1930s, saw "wages paid twice a day and promptly and completely spent within the hour," notes Glyn Davis in his History of Money.

"Large sections of society, including the middle classes, became impoverished; food riots were common; there was a complete flight from money, which had clearly become worthless to hold."

A more honorable legacy, perhaps, was the inflation-fighting Bundesbank of the 1970s and '80s. Staffed by bankers and academics who'd lived through both the Weimar inflation and its World War Two replay – which saw worthless coupons issued as money to Nazi citizens, Wehrmacht troops and even concentration camp victims – the West German central bank refused to devalue the Deutsche Mark alongside the Dollar, British Pound and French Franc by setting interest rates low.

The Bundesbank kept inflation far below the double-digit rates suffered by UK and US households as Gold Prices rose 20 times over against the Dollar. It finally bit the bullet with the birth of the Euro in 1999.

The new European Central Bank has since let slip its money-supply growth target of 4.5% per year. At last count, the supply of Euros was expanding by 10.3% per year, just below 2007's three-decade record for Europe monetary inflation.

The Global Banking Crisis, 2008
"US money supply growth is running at a 47-year high," notes Bedlam Asset Management, "as the authorities seek to inflate away the debt bubble and prop up house prices.

"Clearly printing such huge amounts of money is not great for the exchange rate. A weak Dollar has forced the hand of other central banks as they try and keep their currencies competitive with it."

But might the scam work? Not if China, Japan and the big Dollar-holders of the Arab oil kingdoms can help it. Will they really let their own currencies rise...just so the United States stuffs them by paying its debts with devalued Dollars?

Inflation, it's claimed, eases the burden of settling your debts. But for government and private debtors alike, that's only true if your income rises faster than your on-going cost of expenditure. Otherwise, you end up struggling to make ends meet today, only to leave yesterday's debts for repayment tomorrow again.

Middle-class families and savers looking to get ahead of the game – both inside and outside the Federal Reserve's fast-inflating currency zone – might want to consider Buying Gold as defense. Because however this latest attempt to inflate away debt pans out in the long run, it's sure to make history.

And history says – time and again – that solid Gold Bullion holds its value whenever man-made currencies are forced to lose value.
