Ad2 Charlotte, for young media and advertising professionals, has launched a new website. They are also having another Ad2sday Happy Hour very soon on August 5th at Tyber Creek in Southend. While Ad2 is still looking for a company to help them build a more comprehensive site with member logins, interactive calendar, and more community features, this new site is a definite improvement from nothing at all.

I mean damn, that's a helluva lot of online traffic and a HELL of a lot of Bic pens that lost their lives in the name of protest. Let's have a moment of silence for those server racks and ink cartridges. WE MAJOR!!! *see what I just did there? HA!*

And now on to my problem with Color of Change reaching out to Nas of all the damn rappers on the face of the Earth.  Oochie Wally and You Owe Me. Yeah, I said it. Oochie frickin Wally and You Owe Me. Regardless of how much A&R and label pressure *not to mention how many times he makes a Black Girl Lost or If I Ruled The World type track* Nas had to include those songs on their respected albums...he still had them circulating on MTV and BET.  It's not like those jawns were slow to bubble either. They spent a significant amount of time in the top 20 countdowns during their prime. I'm not even going to mention the fact that Nas has a new album out which needs promotion. From what I can tell from the youtube video, Nas only made one reference to the album.  I'm sure Billy will have his researchers and stat trackers count how many times Nas has said "nigga" and made derogatory terms towards women in his songs.

I'd really like organizations to stop using rappers/actors as spokespeople for your causes. I understand y'all may share views with said rapper/actor/athlete...they're still an entertainer. Go find yourself an educator or author. Go find yourself a CEO or a college student to put a face to your cause. As a 28 year old black man in the United States...I can remember Belly. I can remember the Oochie Wally video. I can remember when several members of the Dallas Cowboys got popped for coke. I can also remember when Bill Cosby stopped being Cliff Huxtable and he became William Cosby...the man that cheated on Camille. I can also remember when most of the programs on TV were suitable to watch at any time of the day. There was no Maury. There was no Jerry. There was only Phil Donahue and Oprah.  Children these days don't have those kinds of memories. All they know is 50 Cent, Heath Ledger dying of an overdose, Cita's World on BET, and "reality" television. I'm charging people that want to make a change to bring back the school book fair. Library trips. Finding guest speakers to come to your middle/high school that have actually GONE from ashy to classy by means of an education or the drive to succeed.

Once we're gone, the kids these days will have to deal with another Bill O'Reilly and they won't be armed with the weapons they need to take him down if all they can remember is Ocho Cinco doing a river dance in the endzone after a score.

Oh, and I'd like to big up ColorOfChange.org for at least making the attempt.

Carissime persone che mi avete seguito,
Putroppo, nella giornata di oggi 23 Lugno 2008, il mio blog "Piedofilia: Blog Interno dell’agnello" è stato oscurato da Netsons all'improvviso, senza nessuna e-mail di notifica, nulla! L'unica cosa che ho potuto fare, era di salvare il salvabile effetuando l'ultimo backup del blog, senza però il Database è il prezioso file XML che Wordpress, ti fa tranquillamente per fare importazioni facili, sapete, facevo sempre un backup di tutto il sito in maniera regolare è tranquilla.

vorrei solo sapere i motivi di questo oscuramento, visto che provabilmente dovrei aver violato qualche condizioni del servizio di Netsons. Curioso però! In mesi di vita, nessuno mi aveva detto nulla, magari per qualche immagina postata in passato...ma niente.

Provabilmente, credo che siano stati quelli di Geekissimo, che non hanno gradito quei pochi post che li citato. Certo, bisogna essere poco svegli per non capire che non attaccavo seriamente loro, ma che alcuni loro post li prendevo come spunto per la crescita del mio personaggio. Infatti il mio blog, era un gioco, uno scherzo o per meglio dire una roba che prendeva in giro i bigotti, quelli che urlano "pensate ai bambini" ad ogni cosa, per giustificare certe cazzate, per non dire peggio e certi atteggiamenti, di alcuni personaggi, ma tutto sempre nello scherzo.
Devo dire, purtroppo che molti mi hanno preso sul serio! Sono bravo ad imitare certi personaggi ? Io sinceramente non credo di essere un bravo interprete. Che buona parte delle persone, sia idota ? Questo non lo voglio credere. Anche se alcuni vedendo che il blog era una recita, cercavano di arrampicarsi sugli specchi....

Comunque, ormai che sono qui, non posso che dire alcune cose doverose, sperando di non essere frainteso.

Inanzi tutto, non ho mai voluto mettere un'avvertenza che il blog, era uno scherzo perchè il linguaggio e i modi di fare rendevano palese la cosa, anche se effetivamente qualche "sveglione" non ha afferrato la cosa.
NON SONO AFFILIATO A NESSUNO! Molti mi hanno detto che sono affiliato a dei tizi di "falsi abusi", bene: Io non so CHI SIANO, non ho MAI AVUTO CONTATTI CON LORO, il blog era stato creato per MIA INIZIATIVA, totalmente indipendente da tizio o caio.
Sono contro chi, fa violenza, di qualsiasi tipo ai bambini, non ho mai preso in giro le vittime dei pedofili ma soprattutto, NON SONO PEDOFILO, I BAMBINI NON MI PIACCIONO NEMMENO CUCINATI CON LE PATATE!!!!! Il blog prendeva ispirazione principlamente dai modi di fare e dalla reputazione di Massimiliano Frassi, criticato da molti per i suoi modi e di come gestisce il suo blog su Splinder, ma con questo, non ho mai avuto intenzione di scherzare facendo il verso solo a lui, ma anche ad altri personaggi in giro per la rete. Io non ho mai affermato che i bambini abusati, non esistono (magari lavorare con un pò di testa sulla cosa non farebbe male al nostro sistema giudiziario, ma non è un tema di mia competenza), come diceva qualche "adepto" di frassi, che commento il mio blog, nei primi mesi di vita.

Ma voglio fare dei dovuti ringraziamenti, dopo tutto, questa avventura mi ha divertito, anche se purtroppo, in pochi hanno seguito realmente il blog. Forse se lo facevo uno dedicato al porno, molto provabilmente avrei avuto un discreto successo...

This from the Open Rights Group (ORG) is scary stuff about the validity of the London Elections (which I ran in!):

ORG’s report into e-counting of votes cast in the London Elections is out today. The report, which is the result of a huge team effort, finds that:

 

“there is insufficient evidence available to allow independent observers to state reliably whether the results declared in the May 2008 elections for the Mayor of London and the London Assembly are an accurate representation of voters’ intentions.”

 

Votes for London Mayor and the 25 member London Assembly were counted electronically, and overall the election was well-managed by the independent body set up to run elections in London, London Elects.

 

However, transparency around the recording of valid votes was a major issue, leading many of our team of 27 official observers to conclude that they were unable to observe votes being counted. And while hundreds of screens set up by vote scanners showed almost meaningless data to observers, London Elects admit that the system was likely to be recording blank ballots as valid votes.

 

The report also details how London Elects are unable to publish an audit, commissioned from KPMG, of some of the software used to count the London vote, because of disputes over commercial confidentiality. The situation highlights the problems that arise when the very public function of running elections is mixed with issues of commercial confidentiality and proprietary software. In the context of a public election, it is unacceptable that these issues should preclude the publication of the KPMG audit.

 

London Elects will pay Indra – the company who supplied both Bedford and Breckland during last year’s chaotic trials of e-counting technology in local elections – upwards of £4.5 million for delivering the London e-count. Today’s report recommends a full cost benefit analysis of any future e-count, set against a properly costed manual count.

 

This cost-benefit analysis should include our report’s five recommendations for improved transparency around the recording of valid votes in e-counting systems. The problems around transparency observed by the ORG team can be solved, but it is important to ask: at what cost? There comes a time when electoral administrators need to ask themselves whether electronic counting really delivers value for money to our democracy.

In at least two constituency member elections the absolute variance between ballot paper accounts from the polling station and number of ballots recorded as scanned by the system exceeds the margin of the winning candidate.

Intro ke masalah,

Seminggu yang lalu (selama beberapa hari, sesuai penjadwalan), kami mengadakan Rapat Kerja LPM PROFESI 2008-2009. Isinya, membahas program kerja apa saja dari tiap-tiap bidang yang akan dijalankan selama kepengurusan sekarang. Yang mau ku bahas di sini adalah tentang salah satu Program Kerja Bidang Redaksi, poin tambahan : Bank Tulisan.
Penjelasan dulu ya, Bank Tulisan itu semacam wadah untuk menampung tulisan-tulisan karya pengurus yang salah satu tujuannya adalah untuk menutupi -jika ada- empty space di produk-produk yang akan diterbitan.
Periode kemarin, Bank Tulisan tidak berjalan dengan baik, cuma anget-anget-tai-ayam. Makanya sebelum Rapat Kerja, kami (Redaksi,-red) akhirnya memutuskan untuk tidak memasukkan kembali Bank Tulisan sebagai Program Kerja periode sekarang dengan berbagai pertimbangan.

Bret, bret, bret, Bank Tulisan ini menjadi permasalahan pas Rapat Kerja. Sebagian pengurus menginginkan Bank Tulisan tetep masuk, dan menjadi kewajiban / keharusan / disertai sanksi bagi yang tidak menjalankan. Dari kami (Redaksi,-red) dan didukung sebagian pengurus lainnya menolak jika Bank Tulisan menjadi kewajiban. Diskusi panjang lebarrrrrr..... akhirnya Bank Tulisan lolos jadi ProKer, plus disertai 'kewajiban' dalam penjelasannya.
Aku sih okay-okay aja sebenernya. Jadi Proker. Plus wajib. Gak papa gitu. Terserah -mayoritas (hanya selisih dikit)- forum, kalo emang memutuskan itu jadi kewajiban. Karena ujung-ujungnya toh mereka juga yang harus menepati janji pilihan mereka sendiri.

Tapi kalo aku boleh mengeluarkan isi hati, ini jawabanku :

Jika untuk pengembangan diri pribadi, saya setuju dengan adanya Bank Tulisan. Namun sifatnya -kekeueh sumekueh- haruslah tidak wajib.
Kenapa?
Bukankah sebagai pengurus Lembaga Pers Mahasiswa kita HARUS aktif menulis?
Kata 'HARUS' lebih pantas diganti dengan 'SEHARUSNYA'. Tidak mengikat, hanya menyarankan dengan underline.

Bagaimana dengan analogi anak-SD-harus-dipaksa-belajar-menulis? Bahwa guru yang memaksa anak SD untuk menulis adalah benar, pemaksaan dengan hukum legal dan mubah. (Analogi ini muncul saat dialog di Rapat Kerja kemaren, dan menjadi semacam 'pencerahan' bagi sebagian orang yang membenarkan).
Benar, itu emang benar. Tapi apa kita adalah anak SD? Ingat, anak SD dipaksa karena mereka memang belum punya kemantapan dalam berfikir, menentukan arahnya sendiri. Mereka masih hijau.

Kita mahasiswa, sudah selayaknya tidak ada lagi unsur pemaksaan. Melanggar Hak Asasi, saya setuju.

Lalu dimana letak ke-PERS-an kita jika tidak ada Bank Tulisan? (dialog ini juga muncul di Rapat Kerja. Ditambah lagi dengan adanya -oknum- yang berdalih Bank Tulisan akan dijadikan 'kriteria' untuk program kerja lain yang saat itu BELUM dibahas).
Pertanyaan aneh. Karena tolak ukur yang dipakai hanya Bank Tulisan.
Lalu apa arti kita menerbitkan Gelegar (dengan kerja keras 4 hari berturut-turut, yang tentunya sadar/tidak sadar disertai dengan loyalitas yang tinggi untuk dunia pers), Suplemen, GonjangGanjing (dengan resiko yang terkadang besar, dan sekali lagi, hanya dengan loyalitas untuk dunia pers kita berani melakukannya -kelak jika ada-), Majalah (yang kita tau sendiri bagaimana susahnya menyelesaikannya), bahkan ada lagi -insyaAllah- Lensa, ditambah lagi Antologi Puisi.
Apakah semua itu dipatahkan hanya karena Bank Tulisan?

Saya sebagai Pemimpin Redaksi, bukannya tidak mau, atau bahkan tidak bisa, untuk menulis satu, dua, tiga, empat kali sebulan. Tapi bagaimana dengan yang lain? Bagaimana dengan orang-orang yang masuk ke PROFESI, namun lebih condong ke Seni-Pers (Fotografi, Gambar Bercerita, dll), dunia usaha (marketing, EO, dll), atau yang lainnya?
Ya, mereka bisa menulis, sejelek apapun. Tapi haruskah kita paksa ? Lembaga ini kita bangun bukan hanya dengan modal tulis-menulis. Dengan dinamika hidup mereka yang masih berkutat dengan kuliah, organisasi lain (jika ada), kepanitiaan (jika ikut), hubungan sosial pertemanan, belum lagi membagi waktu untuk diri sendiri (belajar, istirahat, ekstrakulikuler lain, dll).
Sebenarnya saya juga ingin agar PROFESI lebih giat tidak hanya dalam penerbitan produk, tapi juga kegiatan jurnalistik lain seperti : pelatihan-pelatihan, diskusi, dsb. Kegiatan yang dapat menambah pengetahuan dan semakin memantapkan PROFESI sebagai Lembaga Pers Mahasiswa, seperti yang menjadi saran dan 'wejangan' dari alumni PROFESI kepada saya.

Tapi berbenturan dengan itu, sisi hati pribadi saya yang berseberang mengatakan bahwa saya lebih takut dengan tingkat kejenuhan yang tinggi yang akan mereka rasakan jika terlalu banyak beban yang harus ditanggung untuk berjuang di PROFESI ini. Apakah saya, dan Anda yang peduli, rela jika suatu saat satu persatu bahkan banyak di antara mereka akhirnya menyerah, jenuh, dan keluar? Jangan jadikan alasan : "they are just another quiters" , karena harus kita akui kita-lah yang menyebabkan kondisi suasana yang 'kurang bersahabat'. Kita membunuh rasa ingin berkembang mereka (yang tidak melulu harus dengan menulis), hanya demi memaksakan kemauan orang-per-orang yang memang condong ke arah tulis-menulis?
Saya rasa itu yang tidak adil.

Saya ada di pihak orang-orang yang ingin berkembang, dengan dan lewat cara apapun yang tidak akan pernah sama satu dengan yang lainnya.
Karena kita semua berbeda.
Karena kita semua memang dimaksudkan untuk berbeda.

....
Tapi okelah, Rapat Kerja sudah lewat. Program Kerja sudah fix.
Yang kita butuhkan sekarang adalah commitment untuk melakukannya. Jika ada permasalahan ataupun halangan saat kita melakukannya, jangan tunjuk hidung satu-dua orang untuk dipersalahkan. Tanggung jawab bersama, pasang badan bersama pula.
Saya akan berusaha monitoring, khususnya dalam hal ini : Bank Tulisan, sekuat tenaga saya. Mengingatkan, mengingatkan, dan mengingatkan akan terus dilakukan. Tapi semua nya kembali lagi ke diri pengurus masing-masing. Untuk menjadi maju, adalah pilihan pribadi.

Kita sudah melakukan banyak hal membanggakan di tahun-tahun kemarin dan ke belakang, dan insya Allah dengan semangat yang kuat dan tekad bersama, kita akan melakukan lebih banyak hal membanggakan lagi.
