Our week at FFee has been super busy with the release of the new website/shirts, so its going to be great to have a long weekend to relax. HAHA there is never a time where there isn't something flying through our heads, just times when it is a little less. So even thought there is tons of work with filling orders, making bags, etc. , we still find the time to sit back and relax with our friend the paper and pencil.

I think it's very good, that's why I've ordered some big sheets of Tant (35x35cm). I hope the packet will come soon.
The lime green model is similar to my "Sahnehäubchen I" with a very little variation of the center.

At the end my camera is broken... I don't know what happend, but it's not possible to take a picture. Now I've to use the camera of my cell phone. Not a really good one.

Well, just as I promised yesterday, I have another cute kit project to share with you all today using the September kit from Paper-Playground. Just three more days now until it is available on the P-P website. I know I say how much I love all the kits, but this one is really ringing my happy bell! More so than I even thought it could. I have fallen deeply in love with the rich colors and patterns to these papers and the metallic embellishments. I knew I was going to love the ribbon and trim, but working with them have exceeded my expectations. Once again I must say that this kit is pure visual eye-candy. Here is my page for today.

This layout was inspired by an old Pencil Lines sketch that I came across when I was flipping through my sketch book. Sketch #67 by Sasha Farina. She does gorgeous work. I am always amazed by the Pencil Lines site. If you guys like sketches and haven't checked this site out, it is a MUST see!

I get kind of sentimental looking at this. These photos are from one of our California trips, the books of which I will probably be working on for the rest of my life! Although these photos are only five years old, this seems so long ago to me. My kiddos look so little. This is just proof of how fast they really grow. So much change in such a short time. I remember that day so clearly, though. We were at the San Francisco Zoo. That place holds tons of memories for me. Peter wanted to be "in charge" of the map and lead us to wherever we decided to go. That's him crouching in the left photo with the rolled up map in his hand. I remember how seriously he took that responsibility. Nik was just joyous, as usual. Always such a happy girl. Good times.

So glad I used this beautiful kit for these special photos. I love how this turned out.

So are you getting worked into a frenzy over September's kit yet? No??? How can that be? Come back tomorrow, then, and I'll tempt you with another project.

Have a great day everyone!

I am always drawn to artist and individuals who make their life's work focused in on something so ordinary and everyday, yet through their work they transform them into something exceptional.
US demand to reach $8.8 billion by 2011, US demand for pulp and paper chemicals is projected to reac

US demand to reach $8.8 billion by 2011, US demand for pulp and paper chemicals is projected to reach 20 billion tons in 2011, valued at $8.8 billion. Growth will be supported by increases in paper and paperboard production, as well as the need to comply with stringent environmental standards. Commodity chemicals such as calcium carbonate and clays will continue to be the largest products (by quantity) consumed in the pulp and paper industry, where they are used as fillers and coating pigments. A significant volume of other chemicals, including pulping chemicals such as caustic soda, sizing agents such as starches, and bleaching agents such as sodium chlorate, are also utilized in pulp and paper operations. Best opportunities are expected in the large paper mills market, although improved prospects are also expected for paperboard mills, and to a lesser degree in pulp mills and deinking plants.

Specialty additives will be fastest growing category

Through 2011, specialty additives are expected to record the fastest growth. Among the specialty additives, products such as biocides and deposit control agents, and retention and drainage aids, should continue to experience the fastest gains. Growth will be based on the increasing use of recycled fibers and reuse of water, which put greater strain on machinery and equipment. Further supporting demand are ongoing efforts to reduce mill emissions as well as efforts to reduce production costs by using higher filler loading levels, which require the use of greater quantities of specialty additives.

Fillers, pigments to remain largest product segment

Fillers and coating pigments will continue to be the largest pulp and paper chemical segment, and although growth will remain strong in terms of volume of these chemicals used in pulp and paper mills, most consist of low-value commodity chemicals and market value growth will be meager. Over the last decade, calcium carbonates (especially precipitated varieties have taken significant market share from clays in paper and board fillers and coatings, so that they have now surpassed clays in this segment. This trend should continue, supported by greater demand for brighter printing and writing papers, which can be achieved with calcium carbonates at a lower cost than competing products, such as titanium dioxide or kaolin clay.

Paper markets to offer best growth opportunities

Paper mills, the largest end-user of pulp and paper chemicals, are expected to record the fastest growth in chemical demand through 2011. More specifically, the printing and writing papers, and tissue paper markets will provide the best opportunities. Demand for pulp and paper chemicals in these markets will result from increases in production of these paper grades, as well as stricter requirements, such as increased brightness and printability for printing and writing papers, and increased softness and wet strength for tissue paper. In addition, the use of recycled fibers and other environmental issues will encourage a shift in product mix to higher value chemicals.

Study coverage

It presents historical demand data for the years 1996, 2001 and 2006 plus forecasts for 2011 and 2016 by pulp and paper chemical type and market. The study also considers market environment factors, evaluates company market share and profiles 39 industry competitors.

By Margaret Lukens, New Leaf + Company LLC

More than once someone still using a paper system has asked me whether they shouldn’t switch to some gizmo to keep their calendar and address book. Often, they’ve been shamed with labels like “luddite” into feeling that they are somehow missing out. I don’t agree. Whether you use a paper system or an electronic one depends on what works best for you.

Myself, I really like the look, feel and function of paper. However, the urgent need to reliably back up data finally propelled me to move toward a digital system, and I love it.

Over 600 names and phone contacts at my fingertips – fantastic! Recently I was sitting in a client’s office, when they mentioned that they needed an antique table restored. Thanks to my digital gizmo, I was able to give them an immediate referral to someone who does that kind of work with old-world craftsmanship and skill.

And when I want to work with paper, I print out my calendar or task list to carry just one sheet rather than my pda.

Below are some of the needs and wants I hear from my clients who are searching for the best solution to keeping their appointments, contact information, and tasks in one place.

Feel free to add you own by leaving a comment.

The selection of office stationery products is frequently done on the basis of environmental credent

The selection of office stationery products is frequently done on the basis of environmental credentials.

But how can we get good quality information and consistency across sources?

Have you noticed how many stationery catalogues put a '100% Recycled' logo next to a product, and yet the symbol refers only to the paper content, and not the whole product? Or worse still, an icon signifying that the product is 'green' with no information as to why it is 'greener' than any other.

What about claims such as energy saved through use of recycled paper? Is the information correct? Often it isn't, as data is sourced from the UK paper industry that produces newsprint from mechanical pulp. However fine papers contain chemical (wood free) pulp, and the production of this does not consume energy, it actually generates it. So replacing this element with recycled fibre actually increases the energy demand and carbon emissions.

From a marketing perspective both suppliers and distributors need to review the communication to ensure that the information supplied is accurate so that people are able to make an informed decision on the products that they purchase.

It is no longer acceptable to have a symbol indicating that items are 'green products'. The industry needs to work together to deliver more effective and consistent labelling.

I can't stand it! I'm just too excited about the September kit from Paper-Playground to hold back any longer. I think it's time to start sharing my projects and getting you all in on the excitement, too. We are just four days away from the kit release now. I'm still not going to show you the whole kit........no, no....don't beg. But I will show you this cute page I made with it.

What do you think? Aren't these colors yummy? Love the combo of teal and turquoise, olive and lime with accents of copper. Look at that gorgeous ribbon and the funky mesh trim. This kit is a visual feast. From the silky ribbon to the metallic detailing to the metal embellishments to the fun trim, you can almost feel the texture jumping out at you.

So, are you hankering after this kit yet? Not sure? Well, come back tomorrow, and I'll share another kit project with you then. Can't wait!

Have a great day everyone!

but this is not a normal circumstance. today i was asked to write a paper on something i have the strongest opinion about. i have several things i'm pretty hard-headed about, i'm willing to admit that. but one thing i think pretty much everyone does is take everything they have for granted. its like we think its our right that we're given so much & are so blessed, i'm guilty, i'll admit it. so i decided to write about countries in africa, & other world-wide places that aren't as fortunate as the united states, or wherever, & say that we should all give back something at some point. i was surprised that the girl i sit next to in english was writing a paper about the exact same thing! it was pretty cool, we talked about it, & we'll get to talk about it more as we get to conference with peers & such, & i told her i wanted to trade papers with her once we got done writing (neither of us got much done today during class) so come tuesday when the papers are due, it should be pretty cool.

these kids are kind of my "original inspiration" i guess you could say

they just have this way of brightening my day..

so, thankfully places like the bigstuf house & compassion exist to help these beautiful children, & come next summer i'll be taking my part in it as well, once i'm done with my paper i'll probably add it on here as well. but for now, i just thought it was a neat thought that out of 14 kids, 2 of us had a strong passionate opinion about changing the same thing & are writing a paper about it to share...

A few weeks ago I decided to host a swap on Swap-bot. Since I am a big fan of gingham, I thought I would host a swap for it, and eventually chose to host a papercraft swap and a sewing swap. The papercraft swap has now closed for sign up, and only has eight participants. This was a bit disappointing but I still think potentially it has the chance to be a good swap. This was the picture I used to illustrate the swap page. All the items in the picture were made by me to give examples of things that could be made for the swap.

There are cards of various shapes and sizes, ATCs and bookmarks, but there is so much you can do...it is only limited by imagination and the papercraft criteria.

The other swap is still open to sign up for, (for a few days only). Again I am disappointed with the take-up. There are only five participants as I write this. Its all about sewing something in gingham, or with a large part gingham. It could be a toy, or clothing, or something for the house, or a gift even. I haven't decided what I will make. I will decide on something according to my partners profile, but I have bought or been given lots of gingham fabric and ribbon.
