Dewasa ini, Negara Indonesia bisa dinilai berada pada fase krusial dalam proses kebernegaraan. Pasca reformasi pemerintahan Indonesi belum juga menemukan titik lontar kearah kemajuan. Negara ini masih terseok dalam mencari dan menerusi amanah reformasi yang dikehendaki rakyat. Tampaknya mulai Habibie, Megawati, Abdurrahman Wahid, bahkan Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono belum juga mampu lepas dari bayangan pemerintahan lama, yang telah menguasai dan menentukan separuh perjalanan bangsa ini (orde baru). Setali tiga uang para pemimpin bangsa ini tidak mampu menjalankan amanah reformasi untuk menegakkan Negara hukum, birokrasi bersih dan menaikkan kesejahteraan rakyat.
Model pembambungan yang ada sampai terakhir pemerintahan SBY-Kalla saat ini adalah model pembangunan developmentalian orde baru yang menawarkan pembangunan semu namun nampak indah. Kemajuan pembangunan di Indonesia tidak diimbangi dengan strategi ekonomi dan politik yang sepadan. Sistem kekuasaan yang sentalistik, perekonomian, dan kebijakan ekonomi yang tidak mengukuhkan sendi perekonomian rakyat dapat diprediksi untuk menggambarkan Indonesia kedepan sebagai Negara gagal, jika tidak segera diatasi. Seabrek permasalahan yang ditinggalkan orde baru, hutang luar negeri yang dulu dijadikan tonggak pembangunan, serta loyalitas pada keuangan dunia (IMF) masih juga menjadi andalan dan trend sampai pemerintahan dewasa ini.
Indonesia yang mengalami transisi awal era kepemimpina Habibie, pada awalnya diharap banyak oleh para pengamat dan ahli Negara untuk menjadi tonggak perubahan Indonesia. Namun demikian transisi yang diserahkan pada pemerintahan Habibie bukanlah awal solusi. Pada masa transisi awal ini justru marak kepentingan dan lips-lips politik yang memanfaatkan moment. Oligarki global dan politik ekonomi orde baru dengan mudahnya melakukan permainan pasar. Harga bahan makanan pokok melambung tinggi, terjadi PHK massal dan pengangguran yang semakin menggila. Kroni orde baru berhasil melakukan pencitraan bahwa reformasi adalah sebuah kesalaham. Pencitraan yang muncul kemudian adalah pembandingan dan anggapan bahwa transisi yang terjadi di Indonesia dari sistem otoriter (orba) ke sistem demokrasi (reformasi) tidak membawa manfaat dan perubahan yang besar pada kemajuan negara maupun terhadap kesejahteraan rakyat. Begitu juga dalam masalah perekonomian. Kepemimpinan Habibie tidak menghadirkan warna lain. Habibie tidak bisa melihat pengalaman seniornya (Soeharto), bahkan menjadi bayangannya. Kebijakan ekonomi Habibie yang niatan awal mempererat hubungan dengan IMF dalam rangka mensejahterakan dan meningkatkan perekonomian bangsa, menjadi blunder. Terlepasnya Timor Leste dari pangkuan RI menyebabkan usia kepemimpinan Habibie Habis.
Tidak jauh serupa dengan pemerintahan Hbibie, kepemimpinan Megawati setali tiga uang, yang ada Indonesia semakin merana dalam cengkraman IMF dan korporasai global. Privatisasi-privatisasi sector public (BUMN) menjadi trade mark Indonesia masa Megawati ini. Kekuasaan Negara condong memberi angin segar terhadap korporasi busuk yang menyengsarakan rakyat. Likuditas Bank-Bank swasta menjadi masalah sampai saat ini. BLBI adalah raport yang belum tuntas.
Era kepemimpinan Gus Dur mencoba bertindak lain. Gus Dur mampu menciptakan suasana berbeda, menyumbangkan demokratisasi birokrasi dengan memisahkan antara ABRI/TNI dan kepolisian. Pemerintahan ini bertindak tegas dengan membatasi pinjaman dan mentarget pengembalian utang pada IMF, namun sekali lagi Gus Dur terjebak dalam teknokrasi kenegaraan. Gus Dur bertindak semena-mena dengan meniadakan suara mayoritas –setidaknya menganggap tidak penting pada DPR/MPR adalah kekeliruan politik yang fatal. Hingga usia kepemimpinan Gus Dur tidak berjalan lama.
Saat ini, dalam pundak presiden ke-6 RI pasangan SBY/Kalla Indonesia dipertaruhkan. Setidaknya ketenangan politik sangat berpegaruh banyak terhadap roda pemerintahan. Namun tetap saja, apa yang diharapkan banyak oleh rakyat Indonesia, jauh panggang dari api. Hampir semua persoalan bangsa belum dapat teratasi. Entah sampai kapan rakyat Indonesia mampu bertahan dalam kesabara. Melihat semakin banyak raport merah pemerintahan SBY/Kalla nampak di depan mata (Kasus Lapindo, BLBI, Suap Jaksa, dan seterusnya), pemerintahan SBY-Kalla perlu waspada, apakah akan mengulang para pendahulu mereka –jatuh ditengah kekuasaan, ataukah mampu berjalan dengan tegak menyelesaikan kepemimpinan mereka sampai purna 5 tahun. Kita lihat saja!
Melihat raport merah masing-masing pemimpin negeri ini mulai orde baru sampai saat ini, yang menarik dari membaca buku ini adalah anasir analisis dan tatapan masa depan yang disuguhkan penulis. Dengan melihat kemampuan pemimpin Indonesia sampai saat ini, menurut penulis Indonesia sulit untuk diramal maju. Setidaknya dikarenakan pemimpin-pemimpin yang ada adalah produk masa lalu (orde baru) yang tidak mungkin bisa lepas dari gaya pikir dan gaya pimpin model orde baru. Harus ada pemangkasan generasi, mengganti generasi tua (quo) beralih kepada genarasi yang tidak punya hutang jasa pada orde baru. Alternative yang disuguhkan adalah Satrio Paningit dari kaum papa Indonesia, mempuni dalam kepemimpinan mengerti akan kesengsaraan. Entah siapa, dari mana dan kapan. Setidaknya 2009 ada sedikit harapan.

Là một dân tộc đã từng chịu đựng một ngàn năm đô hộ bởi giặc Tàu, và cũng như Tây Tạng, còn là một dân tộc có nền văn hoá mang nhiều dấu ấn của đạo Phật, người Việt Nam rất thông cảm với người Tây Tạng, không chỉ qua cuộc đàn áp tàn bạo của Trung Quốc trong những ngày tháng ba năm 2008 mới đây, mà còn trên toàn thể quá trình lịch sử xâm lăng của Trung Quốc vào Tây Tạng suốt từ năm 1951 cho tới nay. Bài viết này nhằm góp một tiếng nói chia sẻ với nỗi đau của người Tây Tạng trong những ngày tháng đang quằn quại dưới ách thống trị Trung Hoa cộng sản, đồng thời từ đó rút ra những bài học cho chính dân tộc Việt Nam.

Những ngày tháng tư vừa qua, loài người trên khắp hành tinh hồi hộp theo dõi hành trình ngọn đuốc Olympic, không chỉ vì quan tâm đến sự kiện thể thao hoành tráng nhất từ trước cho tới nay mà còn vì thương cảm cho những người dân Tây Tạng vong quốc, vẫn cố gắng một cách tuyệt vọng trong việc thể hiện quyết tâm làm cho thế giới phải chú ý đến chính sách đồng hoá Tây Tạng của chính quyến Trung Quốc, nước chủ nhà của Đại Hội Thế Vận năm nay, 2008.

Ngay từ khi TQ xin đăng cai tổ chức Olympic tại Bắc Kinh, thế giới đã có ý kiến về những thành tích nhân quyền tệ hại của nước này. Và nhà cầm quyền TQ đã cam kết cải thiện tình trạng nhân quyền trong nước để được Uỷ Ban Olympic Quốc Tế  đồng ý chọn Bắc Kinh làm thành phố chủ nhà cho Olympic 2008. Tuy nhiên, vào lúc Bộ Ngoại giao Hoa kỳ rút tên TQ khỏi danh sách những quốc gia cần quan tâm về nhân quyền trong báo cáo năm 2007 được công bố hồi đầu tháng 3 năm 2008, tổ chức Phóng Viên Không Biên Giới đã có những phản ứng gay gắt, cho rằng đó là một quyết định được đưa ra không đúng lúc.

Quả thật, chỉ vài ngày sau khi bản báo cáo của Bộ Ngoại Giao Hoa Kỳ được công bố, người ta đã chứng kiến vụ đàn áp đẫm máu người TT của chính quyền TQ diễn ra tại thủ phủ Lhasa của khu tự trị TT vào ngày 14 tháng 3 năm 2008. Tuy nhiên như một thực tế bi thảm ở tất cả mọi xứ sở độc tài, nơi quyền lực được tập trung vào tay một nhóm người đầy tham vọng, những thông tin về cuộc đàn áp ở TT hết sức mù mờ và bị bóp méo theo chiều hướng có lợi cho nhà cai trị.

Sự kiện Tây Tạng là một vấn đề phức tạp. Người ta không thể chỉ nghe hay xem những bản tin, trang tin quốc tế trên các phương tiện truyền thông đại chúng mà có thể hiểu được, huống chi truyền thông VN lại không có thói quen đưa tin trung thực, cho nên sự kiện TT đối với người VN là một sự kiện chẳng có gì đáng để ý. Thực tế không phải như vậy. Và vì thế, chúng ta cần phải xâu chuỗi tất cả những thông tin có thể tiếp cận được từ nhiều nguồn khác nhau để lý giải vấn đề, và để thấy số phận của dân tộc TT hiện nay chẳng phải là không liên quan đến người Việt.

VÀI NÉT VỀ LỊC SỬ CẬN ĐẠI CỦA TÂY TẠNG

Trong cuộc nói chuyện với Thủ tướng Úc Kevin Rudd vào ngày 12-4-2008 tại thành phố du lịch Sanya ở phía nam đảo Hải Nam bên lề diễn đàn Bác Ngao cho châu Á, vị chủ tịch nước TQ Hồ Cẩm Đào đã khẳng định, "Vấn đề TT hoàn toàn là chuyện nội bộ TQ (The Tibet problem is entirely an internal issue of China)" Ông ta nói, "Mâu thuẩn của chúng tôi với bè lũ (!) Đạt Lai chẳng phải là vấn đề chủng tộc, tôn giáo hay nhân quyền. Nó chỉ đơn thuần là vấn đề hoặc bảo vệ sự thống nhất đất nước hoặc chia cắt quê mẹ" Ông ta nhấn mạnh rằng những sự kiện đã xãy ra tại khu tự trị TT và những nơi khác hoàn toàn không phải là những cuộc biểu tình ôn hoà hay bất bạo động mà chỉ là những vụ bạo loạn. Ông ta hùng hổ cho biết,"Không một ch1nh phủ có trách nhiệm nào có thể ngồi yên trước những hành vi tội ác như vậy, vốn xâm hại nghiêm trọng quyền con người, phá vỡ nghiêm trọng trật tự xã hội, gây nguy hiểm nặng nề đến tính mạng và tài sản của quần chúng." Ông ta huênh hoang rằng cánh cửa đối thoại giữa chính quyền trung ương TQ vẫn mở rộng cho Đạt Lai Lạt Ma,"Những rào cản về việc tiếp xúc & đối thoại không thuộc về chúng tôi mà về phía ĐLLM. Nếu ĐLLM thành thật, ông ta phải phá vỡ những rào cản ấy. Bao lâu mà phía ĐLLM chấm dứt những hoạt động gây chia rẽ đất mẹ, chấm dứt những hành động âm mưu và xúi giục bạo lực, chấm dứt các hoạt động phá hoại Đại Hội Thế Vận Bắc Kinh, chúng tôi sẵn sàng nối lại những cuộc tiếp xúc và thương thảo với ông ta bất cứ lúc nào." Nghe những lời lẽ ấy, chúng ta có cảm tưởng chính nghĩa hoàn toàn nằm ở phía chính quyền Trung quốc. Nhưng chúng ta hãy đọc đoạn mở đầu nói về TT trên Bách Khoa Toàn Thư mở Wikipedia:

"Tây Tạng là một vùng cao nguyên ở Trung Á và là quê hương của người Tây Tạng. Với độ cao trung bình 4.900mét, đây là vùng cao nhất địa cầu và thường được gọi là nóc nhà của thế giới. Về phương diện địa lý, Bách Khoa toàn Thư Britannica và cơ quan UNESCO (thuộc LHQ) coi Tây Tạng là thuộc vùng Trung Á, trong khi nhiều tổ chức học thuật lại coi vùng đất này thuộc Nam Á.
Nhiều bộ phận của vùng đất này đã thống nhất dưới quyền của nhà vua Songtsãn Gampo vào thế kỷ thứ7. (Ghi chú: bao gồm các nơi nay là vùng tự trị Tây Tạng & một phần của tỉnh Thanh Hải, Cam Túc, Vân Nam, và Tứ Xuyên; ở những tỉnh vừa liệt kê, người Tây Tạng sống tập trung tại những nơi được gọi một cách hoa mỹlà khu tự trị hay huyện tự trị). Từ thế kỷ thứ 17 cho đến năm 1951, vị Đạt Lai Lạt Ma và các quan nhiếp chính của ngài là thế lực chính trị có ưu thế cai quản cả về mặt tôn giáo lẫn hành chánh trên những vùng đất rộng lớn của Tây Tạng, xuất phát từ thủ đô truyền thống Lhasa.
TT tuyên bố độc lập khỏi TQ vào năm 1911 ngay trước sự sụp đổ của các vua nhà Thanh và tình trạng hỗn loạn của TQ sau đó.
TT vẫn là một quốc gia độc lập thực tế cho đến không lâu sau ngày chấm dứt cuộc nội chiến TH, khi mà vào ngày 1 tháng 10 năm 1949, Cộng Hoà Nhân Dân Trung Hoa chính thức tuyên bố thành lập tại BK để rồi năm sau xua quân vào xâm lăng TT. Đạo quân Trung Cộng 40.000 người (do Đặng Tiểu Bình lúc ấy là chính uỷ quân khu tây nam điều động) tiến vào tiêu diệt lực lượng phòng thủ không được chuẩn bị chỉ có khoảng 5.000 người TT ở Khâm Đô. Việc thất thủ Khâm Đô dẫn đến việc chánh phủ TT phải ký một thoả ước 17 điểm.

Vậy thì đã rõ: cho đến năm 1949, TT vẫn là một quốc gia độc lập trên thực tế; sau khi chánh quyền TQ thành lập thì họ mới xâm lăng TT vào năm 1950 và việc áp đặt nền cai trị TQ lên TT chỉ mới bắt đầu từ năm 1951 thông qua việc chánh phủ TT phải ký với TQ bản thoả thuận 17 điểm dưới áp lực của súng và lưỡi lê. Tuy nhiên, người TT không chịu khuất phục hoàn toàn. Trong nhiều năm liền, người TT vẫn nổi dậy chống lại sự áp chế của TQ, và đỉnh điểm là vụ nổi dậy thất bại trong năm 1959; kết quả là ngày 10 tháng 3 năm ấy đức Đạt Lai Lạt Ma, người đứng đầu chánh phủ TT và là người lãnh đạo tinh thần của toàn thể nhân dân TT, đã phải bỏ thủ đô Lhasa cùng với đại bộ phận chánh phủ của ngày để sống lưu vong tại Dharamsala, một vùng thuộc phía Bắc Ấn Độ. Cùng đào thoát khỏi sự truy đuổi của quân TQ còn có cả trăm ngàn thường dân TT.

Vào năm 1960, thủ tướng Ấn Độ lúc ấy là Jawaharlal Nehru đã đề nghị để đức ĐLLM & tuỳ tùng của ngài được thành lập một chánh phủ lưu vong ở Dharamsala. Từ đó nhiều người TT đã đến định cư thành phố này, xây dựng tự viện, tu viện và trường học, biến vùng thượng Dharamsala thành một tiểu Lhasa. Sự có mặt của người TT cũng đã làm hồi sinh các hoạt động du lịch và thương mại cho vùng Dharamsala. Vào năm 2002, Dharamsala đã tổ chức một cuộc thi hoa hậu TT thu hút người TT lưu v0ng trên toàn thế giới về đấy. Vào mùa đông, chính phủ lưu vong TT có một trú sở ở Sidhbari và điều hành công việc ở đó trong vòng hai tháng.

Khi xâm lăng TT năm 1950, chính quyền TQ viện cớ TT đã từng là một bộ phận lãnh thổ của TQ dưới các thời Nguyên, Thanh và để giải phóng nhân dân TT khỏi sự cai trị tàn bạo của chế độ thần quyền trong tay các nhà sư TT. Trước năm 1951, các nhà nhân loại học cho rằng phần lớn dân TT chỉ là những nông nô bị gắn chặt vào những mãnh đất thuộc quyền sở hữu của các tu viện, tự viện và giới quý tộc. Tuy nhiên, người TT lưu vong khẳng định rằng thành phần nông nô chỉ là một bộ phận nhỏ trong xã hội TT, và xã hội TT vẫn đang hiện đại hoá mà không cần đến sự can thiệp củ người Trung Hoa. Mặc dù vậy, nhà cầm quyền TQ khăng khăng cho rằng tình trạng nô lệ của đa số người dân TT vẫn tồn tại đế năm 1951 và chính chính quyền TT đã cản trở mọi nỗ lực phát triển xứ sở trong thời kỳ xứ này có sự tự trị từ 1913 đến 1959, không những thế, còn chống đối mọi nỗ lực canh tân TT của chính quyền TQ.

Sau khi xâm lăng TT, chính quyền TQ đã tiến hành cải cách ruộng đất, lấy đất của tu viện, tự viện và giới quý tộc chia cho nông nô. Kết quả là những cuộc nổi dậy do giới quý tộc lãnh đạo đã liên tục nỗ ra ở nhiều nơi. Cuộc nổi dậy kéo dài, lan đến tận Lhasa vào năm 1959, bị đập tan bởi quân đội TQ làm chết hàng chục ngàn người. Vị lãnh đạo tinh thần của người TT bấy giờ là Đức ĐLLM đời thứ 14 mới 24 tuổi, phải bỏ xứ chạy sang Ấn Độ. Ngày 10 tháng 3 sau đó được coi là ngày Tây Tạng, được người TT lưu vong trên khắp thế giới tổ chức kỷ niệm để nhắc nhở nhau quyết tâm giành quyền tự trị cho đất TT.

Chính quyền TQ tiếp tục miêu tả nền cai trị của họ trên đất TT như một sự cải cách trọn vẹn, mang lại hạnh phúc ấm no cho nhân dân TT, nhưng hầu hết các chánh phủ nước ngoài đều nêu những quan ngại về tình trạng nhân quyền tệ hại ở TT dựa trên những báo cáo của những tổ chức phi chánh phủ như tổ chức Theo Dõi Nhân Quyền. Một điều nghịch lý là mọi quốc gia đều công nhận quyền cai trị của TQ ở TT và hầu như chưa một quốc gia nào công nhận chánh phủ TT lưu vong hiện đóng ở Dharamsala. Mặc cho những báo cáo của chính quyền TQ về việc cải thiện đời sống cho dân TT dưới sự cai trị của họ, như hạ thấp tỉ lệ tử vong cúa trẻ sơ sinh, nâng cao tuồi thọ của người TT, giải quyết tình trạng mù chữ và thất học, xây dựng nhiều cơ sở y tế ở khắp những nơi có người TT sinh sống, và đặc biệt là không buộc dân TT phải áp dụng chính sách mỗi vợ chồng chỉ có một con mà dân TQ phải áp dụng một cách nghiêm nhặt.

Những người TT lưu vong đã trích dẫn chính những con số thống kê mà truyền thông chính thức của nhà nước TQ đưa ra để lên tiếng về những cố gắng diệt chủng của TQ. Theo những người TT lưu vong, chính Nhân Dân Nhật Báo ở Bắc Kinh số ra ngày 10/11/1959 trích dẫn tài liệu của Viện Thống Kê Quốc Gia tổng số dân TT theo kiểm kê năm 1959 là 6.330.567 người; trong khi đó số liệu của cuộc điều tra dân số năm 2000 được in trong Niên Giám Thống Kê Trung Quốc 2003 tổng số dân TT sinh sống trên toàn lãnh thổ TQ chỉ vào khoảng 5.400.000 người.

Vì lẽ đó, người TT lưu vong đã nhiều lần khẩn thiết kêu nài các chánh phủ trên thế giới và tổ chức LHQ thực thi 6 nguyện vọng của họ:

1. 1. Lập tức phái những phái đoàn điều tra độc lập về TT để tìm hiểu những sự thật về TT.
   2. Lập tức yêu cầu TQcho phép báo chí tự do đến TT để đưa tin về vùng đất này.
   3. Lập tức khuyến nghị TQ chấm dứt việc chém giết tuỳ tiện trên toàn vùng TT.
   4. Lập tức khuyến nghị TQ trả tự do cho những người TT bị bắt bớ và giam cầm.
   5. Lập tức khuyến nghị TQ cho phép các tổ chức y tế quốc tế như Hội Hồng Thập Tự & tổ chức Thầy Thuốc Không Biên Giới đến chăm sóc sức khoẻ và chữa bệnh cho người TT bị thương tật, nhiều người kg dám đến bênh viện vì sợ bị bắt giữ.
   6. Lập tức khuyến nghị TQ cho phép dân chúng tự do đi lại & cung cấp những nhu dụng thiết yếu hàng ngày cho ho như thực phẩm và nước uống. (còn tiếp)...

人常言道“人是现实的”，那些“现实”的人在你失落时就会一一的露出他的真面目离你去，好如雪上加霜般的。但并非全部人都这样的，如果你所认识的全都这样那就‘恭喜’你了，还会有些人会在你最失落时向你伸出援手，这才是真真的朋友，在你没钱、没权时，不但没有稀落你还雪中送炭，这种人就要珍惜！

5月15日出席丹绒武雅大山宫的一个神诞拜拜，过后用餐时不小心看到他们用来铺桌子的旧报纸的一个报道，标题为“知福、惜福、再造福”那时我们尊敬的前卫生部政务次长所说的。当时想到几个人当然包括李家全和这几天报纸热炒的李娜巴，这两位都是日落洞国会议席的曾经主人和候选人（但落败），也是前朝拿督，也是民政旗下的国会上下议员，现在应该也享有退休金，也是民政党的最高领导人物。试问这些人被边缘吗？反而，还没享有那种种优惠或待遇的，现在还傻傻的留在人们空中的没希望的政党。

Senator John McCain is a true American hero. That's a good thing. Me, too. That is not exactly what initially came to mind with regard to my personal story versus that of Senator McCain. But hey, I’m just going by the modern day “hero meter”.

Both John and I served twenty years in the United States Navy, although in overlapping eras. We each get hero points for that. We were both “undistinguished” students in high school. I got that word “undistinguished” from reading an online biography about him. Following high school, I went to Community College and earned my undergrad degree years later.

Somehow though, John immediately got appointed to the United States Naval Academy. So I guess he gets a couple of hero points for that. Not for his appointment to the “boat school” but for his, “undistinguished” academic performance while there, and for what followed. What followed was, his assignment to Naval Flight School. Which was, or is, an assignment traditionally reserved for only the best and brightest students. Me, well I ended up enlisting and becoming an Air Traffic Controller.

I go off to Air Traffic Control School and although it is grueling, I get by. John is again an “undistinguished” student in flight school. But you gotta give him a few hero points for what comes next. John gets assigned to jet training!!! I’m not making this up. Me, I perform brilliantly and eventually get offered and accept an Officer’s Commission. I’m fond of saying: “I got my commission the old fashioned way… I earned it”.

In a relatively short time, John is involved in a first aircraft crash, has to jump out of second (eject) and flies a third through utility lines but lands it safely, although he apparently got in trouble and temporarily grounded for it. This is all in a “non combat” flying role! He definitely gets a few hero points for that because, well, by now it should be clear that when John gets in the cockpit of a tactical jet “bad things happen”. But somehow he is able to continue to fly. Definitely hero points for pulling that off.

I serve at a number of airports worldwide and on two aircraft carriers in control towers and radar centers and never have so much as a serious incident. I did get to see some action when the aircraft from the carrier I was assigned to attacked both Grenada and Lebanon in the 80’s. Several of our aircraft came back shot up from the raid on Lebanon and one was shot down. I got a ton of ribbons and medals for that cruise and for my efforts in assisting aircraft in distress (hero points for me).

John out did me again though. He climbed out of the cockpit of a burning aircraft during an explosion and ensuing inferno on the deck of his first carrier. Then he followed that up by getting shot down over Viet Nam. But let’s keep it real. Could anybody really think, given his record of “undistinguished” academics and airmanship, that John could out smart a surface to air missile (SAM)? Ahhhhh no.

The rest of his story is really sad “hero stuff” that I can neither comprehend nor fully appreciate. I cannot imagine what years of captivity in a prisoner of war camp could have been like. I say that with the utmost respect and sincerity with regard to John and all those who similarly suffered.

So in truth I suppose on the modern day “hero meter” John is definitely way ahead in the total point tally. Without question our careers took different paths and I am eternally grateful for that. Even though he clearly had no more business in the cockpit of a tactical jet than me, Leon Spinks or Leon Redbone. And between you me and the lamp post, although for many different reasons, I would apply the same analogy to any vision of him in the Oval Office.

Be certain of this: As they say in the hood: “I ain’t mad at him”. I certainly consider his service (our service) something to be honored and something to be immensely proud of.

In spite of the fact that we are both old sailors; the “Obamacrat” that I am, I can’t vote for John. But I am pleased he is in the Presidential race. Had he not been, I may have never considered that I too am a “True American Hero”. Hummm… Leon Walker, “True American Hero”. Yeah, I like that. I think I’ll get a coffee cup or a mouse pad made.

I have many fond memories of my career, and from reading about that of Senator McCain I learned that we have one thing, one glowing highlight in common. One that is tremendously noteworthy. Supposedly he once dated a really hot “stripper”. Me too!

När vi talar om mänskliga rättigheter i Islam, så menar vi verkligen att dessa rättigheter har blivit givna av Gud, de har inte blivit givna av någon kung eller av någon lagstiftande församling. De rättigheter som ges av kungar och lagstiftande församlingar kan upphävas på samma sätt som de införs. Samma sak gäller de rättigheter som accepteras och erkänns av diktatorer. De kan införa dem när de önskar och upphäva dem när de behagar, och de kan dessutom öppet förbryta sig mot dem när de har lust. Men eftersom de mänskliga rättigheterna i Islam har blivit givna av Gud.......

Då förstår ni vad de menar. Islam är en statisk religion, som när den utsätts för prövningar inte kan gå någon annan väg än bakåt. Tyvärr, alla vägar framåt är blockerade.

Allså, de mänskliga rättigheterna är hur islam-gräddan av imamer och andra tolkar de mänskliga rättigheterna. Det en gång givna i koranen kan inte bliv "ogivet" såvida man inte hittar på en hadith som förklara att så menar koranen. Demokrati så det ryker om det va?

Liderul AMN a făcut această afirmaţie în cadrul unei întrevederi cu ambasadorul Ucrainei în Republica Moldova, Serghei Pirojkov. Manifestanţii au incendiat mai multe magazine şi maşini, iar poliţiştii au încercat să-i disperseze folosind gaze lacrimogene şi trăgând focuri de armă.

开始时双方面真的不知如何成为称职的朝野政党，因为野转朝的继续扮演他们以往的角色，朝专野的还忙的解释这个解释那个。虽然小弟已成为在野党可是还得忙着完成尚未完成的计划，所以在目前大家看到的基本设施并非新政府所为，而是我们前朝政府的计划。

哈哈！有个部落格说到民政的部落客就像林敬益说得像乞丐，我的回应是乞丐又如何？贵为顾问又如何？如有看神机妙算刘伯温吗？其中的片曲又一局，“浪子也有回头时，乞丐也有出头天”(闽南语或福建话）给自己希望好过绝望，但希望归希望还是要极力争取和努力争取民心，而非坐着空等“天公伯”从天降机会。

Skilful nurturing of Anwar, the shadow PM

MAY 14 — By planting the idea in the early days after Malaysia’s March elections that Pakatan Rakyat, the fledgling Opposition alliance, is a "government-in-waiting," Anwar Ibrahim laid the foundation for the air of inevitability that seems to be haunting the Barisan Nasional (BN).

For many BN legislators in particular, it has become a question of when and not if, the Pakatan Rakyat takes over.

In recent weeks, Anwar has repeated, again and again, the message that his Pakatan Rakyat will form the government by September at the latest.

He has also subtly, but frequently, implied that there was a group of BN MPs waiting to cross over to PR.

Despite the lack of concrete evidence that Anwar can yet persuade the secular DAP and the Islamist PAS to forge a strong alliance, BN party members appear to be mesmerised by his rhetoric and his power of suggestion.

"The fact is even if Anwar manages to persuade enough BN reps to cross over, he will likely have to call fresh elections soon after that to get a fresh mandate. This will not be easy. It takes time," a senior DAP leader told The Malaysian Insider.

For now, Anwar, as an unelected but de facto leader of the Opposition, is concentrating on maintaining pressure on BN.

Speculation of a change in government reached its peak this week.

The threat of MPs from Sabah crossing over to PR had become a real enough threat to warrant PM Abdullah Badawi meeting senior leaders of the East Malaysian state to assuage their concerns over getting a raw deal from the federal leadership, which they so openly aired in recent days.

Anwar and his Opposition partners’ ability in managing perceptions has been so masterful that every time he calls for a press conference these days, reporters almost always expect him to declare that his alliance has breached the threshold for him to finally become prime minister.

"Timing is very important. There is a lot of interest from BN reps to join us, but it will take a lot of skill to manage it," a PKR legislator told The Malaysian Insider.

Amid this scenario, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi will find it tough to govern.

Faced with an open revolt from many Umno warlords after the ruling coalition’s worst electoral showing in March, Abdullah has to now contend with demands for a bigger piece of the pie from East Malaysian parties.

Crucially, neither the DAP nor PAS has made any noise about forming the next federal government. The source of the spin and ambition has been exclusively PKR and Anwar.

PR leaders know that with every passing day, the Malaysian public will get used to the idea of them being in government, especially if they govern well enough in the five states it controls.

Every problem faced by the states will be blamed on the federal government.

And every reform introduced by Abdullah will be claimed as PR’s own victory.

Abdullah’s job has become tougher in recent weeks, as his administration struggles to manage an economy facing pressure from high oil prices and food security issues.

But meanwhile, Anwar will wait in the wings for the right moment to act.

Just try to pay attention to the sentences that I have "bold" it. One of the DAP leaders believed that "its not easy, and it takes time", while another PKR  leader mentioned that "it takes a lot of skill to manage it".  Later the columnist give us a quite impression that "this kind of ambition directly comes from PKR and, I should say Anwar, himself".

I need to say that I agreed to the columnist's comment.  All the while, it is Anwar who press on to the idea of forming "new" government. Anwar lost the "hot seat as PM" after he was "unseated" by Dr. M due to some "unseen cases". Until today, Anwar still hopeful that he might be PM of Malaysia. He need the support from all opposition parties. That's why he knows that he need to form a so called "shadow government" called Pakatan Rakyat. Basically, I can say that even Mr. Hadi and Mr. Lim are listening to Anwar's advice. I have no problem if Anwar's idea of forming a new government if he managed to convince current BN MPs to crossover to any other opposition parties. My question will be: Anwar, are you doing for your own benefits or you are doing this for rakyat? This kind of ambition comes from you or all opposition parties that it's time for change and to lead this nation for better future?

Try to go a little backward. Still remember my previous post mentioning that even YB. Teresa Kok was suprised with the wins in 5 states. Now, pay attention to the statements being make earlier in this article. Even leaders in PR's themselves believe that they need more time and skills to manage. Why? IN my personal opinion, as I mentioned before...In Pakatan Rakyat, they need time to train leaders taking up "ministerial" post (time + skill). Training leaders is not few months time, but it may take longer route for them. I think even Pakatan Rakyat leaders are not convince enough that they might able to run the federal government. They are used to complain and raise issues of rakyat. But to conduct business discussion internationally, err...they really need a lot a lot of time. Maybe after few years from today, Pakatan Rakyat leaders are leader to take over leadership of federal government because they have experiences from running state governments.

If you asked me whether this is the time for changes in federal government, I sincerely would so. NO, it's not the time yet. It will de-stabilize the whole political scenario in which it will influence our investment and other factors as well. Other countries might lose their confidence in our country. Most of the international companies run their businesses over here due to "relationship". If we take off this relationship, what will happen? Please look to the future, before we are to decide. Malaysia is not a country like US or Taiwan that their either parties able to govern the whole country. Malaysia is still a learning country. We have "political tsunami" already, it's more than enough to warn current federal government to do something.

So for "government in waiting", do train more leaders and wait patiently. Let people votes determine whether you are fit to run a country or not. For me, it is not wise to ask people to crossover. Don't change the government because our very own interest. Please..

PENGKALAN CHEPA, 15 Mei - Mursyidul Am, Tuan Guru Datuk Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat menyifatkan Umno dan Barisan Nasional (BN) merupakan parti politik pertama yang menghianati demokrasi dengan mengamalkan sogokan wang.

Katanya, parti tersebut tidak perlu menggelabah sekiranya orang lain (pembangkang) juga cuba melaksanakan perkara yang serupa.

Beliau diminta mengulas kenyataan anggota Parlimen Kota Belud, Datuk Abdul Rahman Dahlan yang dikatakan ditawarkan dengan harga yang tinggi sehingga boleh menampung tiga generasi sekiranya melompat parti.

Menurut Dahlan, jumlah sebenar yang ditawarkan oleh utusan khas hantar untuk bertemunya sebelum ini hanya akan didedahkan apabila tiba masa yang sesuai.

Sebelum itu Menteri Besar menyampaikan saguhati kepada pelajar cemerlang dalam peperiksaan SPM, STAM dan STPM di Pusat Tarbiah Islamiah (Putik) di sini, petang tadi.

Tuan Guru Nik Abdul Aziz berkata, Umno sebenarnya menjadi guru dalam semua kerja jahat termasuk membeli undi, menyogot wang termasuk membeli wakil rakyat untuk mendapatkan kemenangan.

Jadi Umno kena faham apa yang berlaku jangan marah sebab mereka sendiri yang mengajar (memulakannya), jadi jangan marahlah, padan muka dia (Umno),tambahnya.

Ditanya pejabat DAP di Perak yang dibom dengan petrol malam semalam katanya tindakan itu dilakukan oleh mereka yang kecewa.

Kalau beriman, mereka akan bertindak mengikut cara Islam, sebaliknya bagi yang tidak berpandukan ajaran Islam akan melalukannya begitu.

Victor Mocanu proaspat membru al PSD si se pare un important om de afaceri buzoian sub acoperire; dupa ce vreo cativa ani buni a fost presedinte executiv al PD Buzau, mai apoi PD-L pana sa-l puna Cezar Preda pe fuga pentru niscai "uneltiri" anti PD-L. El este nimeni altul decat acel presedinte care la doua trei luni dupa ce a obtinut presedentia CJ Buzau a iscat acel scandal mediatic achizitionand un "ieftin" autoturism Audi A6 din banii fraierilor de contribuabili, da-i incolo asta-i rostul fraierilor sa cotizeze, sa aiba el saracutu' si "pretenii" lui ce toca.

Ce pacat ca probabil datorita marimii si maririi invitatului MOCANU realizatorii emisiunii au renuntat "deontologic" la profilul si coloana vertebrala a formatului si au eliminat momentul "fraierii intreaba, smecherii raspund" fiindca Maria sa MOCANUL, este foaaaaaarte ocupat si are timpul comprimat.

Totusi cred ca asa un exemplar politic, (rara avis a politicii locale) trebuia tratat ca oricare candidat si trebuiau lasati ramnicenii sa-l disece si sa-l cunoasca mai bine fiindca, vorba ceea venise sa le ceara sa-l angajeze pe postul de PRESEDINTE AL CONSILIULUI JUDETEAN BUZAU. Daca cei de la tv sat 2002 au fost umile si supuse gazde a traseistului politic Mocanu si cred ca ramnicenii de rand ar fi intrebat:

1) Domnule Mocanu, ii iubiti pe ramniceni? Eu personal cred ca nu pentru ca pana acum 2 - 3 luni era in aceeasi barca politica cu Ghinioiu si mare branza nu au facut. Raspunsul sau ar fi fost: ii iubesc ca pe .... soacra-mea.

2) Domnule Mocanu, suntei aceeasi "entitate" fizica care in 2004 la 2- 3 luni dupa ce v-au "uns" presedintele CJ Buzau, ati creat acel scandal politic si mediatic legat de un autoturism AUDI A6 cumparat din banii contribuabililor din acest judet? Nu, cred ca ar fi raspunsul fiindca acum am alta "coloare"; ceea ce4 ati vazut atunci dumneavoastra era .... clona mea. Stiti suntem atat de pretiosi incat mai nou Basescu ne cloneaza........

3) Sunteti fan AUDI? Raspunsul ar fi fost: Sunt fanul oricarei masini de peste 35 000 de euro mai ales daca e sa cheltui cu orice pret banul public........

4) Dom' Mocanu cum comentati traseismul dumneavoastra politic? Domnule, ce sa zic la Ramnicul Sarat dupa cum stiti, PSD are un proiect pentru o sosea de centura..... motiv pentru care, pentru a ma obisnui cu centura politicii am inceput sa plec din partid in partid, da, sa stiti ca muncesc de 30 de ani pentru ... (nu se spune), da eu nu-s c...va politica; ce si albina zboara din floare'n floare si nu-i spune nimeni ca-i c..va.

5) Vad ca afisati pe mana, ostentativ pentru un candidat venit la interviu pentru a ne determina sa-l angajam presedintele consiliului judetean Buzau, una - doua bijuterii de dimensiuni interesante; Va plac bijuteriile, aveti in proprietate si la ce valoare se ridica ele? Raspunsul ar suna cred cam asa: am vreo cateva ghiulane lasate mostenire de culmea, e coincidenta, de la o matusa care se numea iar coincidenta Tamara, (daca ramaneam in PD-L se numea verisoara Elena din Plescoi); Ele sunte din tinichea - m-a tras baba-n piept - nu au decat valoare sentimentala. Auzi .... da-mi CNP -ul si adresa daca vrei sa-ti raspund......

6) Dom' Mocanu cum ati ajuns a doua zi dupa excluderea din PD-L direct in PSD si nu orice - candidat la presedentia CJ BUzau? Draga alegatorule, am fost reciclat - ce este de rahat intr-un partid la un moment dat este luat ca aur de 24 carate de alt partid.

7) Domnu' Mocanu cum va vedeti dupa 1 iunie daca castigati presedentia Consiliului Judetean Buzau? raspunsul ar putea fi: Daca fraierul de alegator pune botul pe oferta noastra electorala, mai bogat ca astazi!!!

A deadly miscalculation in Lebanon

DAMASCUS - The Lebanese government made a fatal underestimation of how far leaders of the Shi'ite group Hezbollah would go to preserve what they believe are their rights, such as an intelligence network and the freedom to carry weapons.

The result is at least 81 people dead in clashes across the country since violence erupted on May 6; a political and military victory for Hezbollah and Iran and a stinging setback for the government and Saudi Arabia.

The crises was sparked last week in Beirut when the government of Prime Minister Fouad al-Siniora ordered the communication and surveillance network at Runway 17 of Beirut Airport be dismantled, claiming it was "illegal and unconstitutional".

The decision was taken at a cabinet meeting on May 6 that lasted until 4 am, lobbied for by Telecommunications Minister Marwan Hamadeh. The network is one of the primary espionage tools used by Hezbollah in its war against Israel, keeping tabs on comings and goings at Beirut Airport.

Adding insult to injury, the Lebanese government dismissed Wafiq Shuqayr, the Shi'ite security commander of the airport, for planting the system in accordance with Hezbollah's wishes, supposedly behind the back of Siniora.

Hezbollah cried foul, claiming the network had been in place for years, adding that dismantling it was a red line because otherwise Beirut Airport would be "transformed into a base for the the CIA, the FBI and Mossad, referring to American and Israeli intelligence.

Hezbollah secretary general Hasan Nasrallah spoke just hours after the crisis started, saying the communication system and Shuqyar were "red lines" that could not be crossed. He reminded his audience that when Siniora became prime minister in 2005, one of the main points of his political program was "supporting the resistance" and giving it (Hezbollah) a free hand to wage its "war of liberation" against Israel in any way it saw fit.

Veteran Shi'ite cleric Abdul-Amir Qabalan, deputy chairman of the Higher Shi'ite Council, contacted the Lebanese government and advised it to back down, warning that Nasrallah must not be provoked and that he would not stand by and watch his security system being torn down. Qabalan said, "Touching this [communication] system affects our nationalism, integrity and loyalty to the nation."

The government refused to change course, arguing that security must be monopolized by the state and that it was inconceivable that a non-state party like Hezbollah could run a parallel security system at Beirut Airport.

In this stubbornness, the government failed to anticipate the value Hezbollah places on what it believed its key rights. Worse, Defense Minister Elias al-Murr, Interior Minister Hasan al-Sabe and Public Persecutor Said Mirza were tasked to create a team to look into other security violations committed by Hezbollah.

Engineering the escalation was Druze leader Walid Jumblatt, a one-time Nasrallah friend now turned enemy, who knew that within 48 hours the United Nations Security Council was due to discuss resolution 1559, regarding the disarmament of Hezbollah, which has yet to be fully implemented.

Nasrallah angrily replied that "we will cut the arm" of whoever tries to dismantle the arms of Hezbollah, claiming that security networks were weapons, just like missiles and guns. He then reminded that in the past, he would always say that "our weapons will never be used internally", but this time he warned that "weapons will be used to guard weapons".

He was not understating the situation. By the evening of May 7, all hell had broken lose in Beirut.

Hezbollah troops took to the streets of the capital and were confronted by armed men loyal to parliamentary majority leader Saad al-Hariri and Druze leader Jumblatt. Road blocks were set up all over the city, bringing back haunting memories of the 17-year civil war that ended in 1990, and snipers showed up on rooftops.

The Hariri-led March 14 Coalition cried foul, claiming that Hezbollah had launched a coup and taken over the (in the lightening speed of six hours). Parallels were drawn between Hezbollah's behavior in Beirut and the Hamas takeover of Gaza in 2007.

Nasrallah denied a coup was in the making, saying, "Had we wanted a coup, they [government leaders] would have woken up to find themselves in jail, or [thrown) in the sea."

Hezbollah fighters did storm entire neighborhoods of Beirut loyal to Hariri, aided by Amal militiamen loyal to the Shi'ite speaker of parliament, Nabih Berri, an ally of Nasrallah. The poor training and weaponry of the Hariri team was no match for the sophisticated war machine of Hezbollah, which managed to ward off a massive Israeli attack in 2006.

So amateurish were Hariri's men that it almost seemed as if they had no arms at all. They were round up in hours, disarmed and handed over to the Lebanese army. Rather than take control of the districts - to prove that this was not a coup - Hezbollah fighters called up the army, a third party, asking it to take control.
Vandalism did take place, and so did an ugly exchange of words between Hezbollah's team, who are all Shi'ite, and Hariri's men, who are all Sunnis. One of the most telling acts was shutting down all of Hariri's media outlets, which were very active in spreading anti-Hezbollah propaganda, including Future TV, Future News, Orient Radio and Future Newspaper. All of these were taken over by Hezbollah and then handed to the army, yet hoodlums did manage to break into Future TV and set one floor ablaze.

Many saw this as a proxy war between the Saudi Arabia-backed March 14 Coalition and the Iran-backed Hezbollah. Telecommunications Minister Hamadeh said the entire crisis was the doing of Tehran. His boss, Jumblatt, went even further, asking for the expulsion of the Iranian ambassador from Beirut.

Jumblatt's tone changed, however, 48 hours into the confrontation, when the fighting ended in Beirut and shifted to Druze villages overlooking the Lebanese capital. Hezbollah fighters surrounded his palace in Beirut, near the American University of Beirut, but did not invade. It was clear for Jumblatt, one of the United States' main and newfound allies in Lebanon, that it was pointless to resist Hezbollah.

Jumblatt got on the phone with Nabih Berri, the Nasrallah-allied speaker of parliament, and said, "I am a hostage now in my home in Beirut. Tell Sayed Hasan Nasrallah I lost the battle and he wins. So let's sit and talk to reach a compromise. All that I ask is your protection."

Nasrallah and Jumblatt had been good friends and strong allies during the heyday of the Syrian presence in Lebanon. The Druze leader had positioned himself as one of the main protectors of Hezbollah arms throughout the 1990s. A political animal, however, he changed sides when it was clear the Syrians had fallen out with Washington after the Iraq war and he transformed himself into one of the loudest critics of Syrian power in Beirut.

He put his full bet on the Americans, patched up with the George W Bush White House (which he had once accused of staging the September 11, 2001, attacks on New York and Washington) and became an aggressive critic of Nasrallah. In his speech on the eve of hostilities, Nasrallah said that the plan to transform Beirut Airport into a base for the US Central Intelligence Agency, the Federal Bureau of Investigation and Mossad was the brainchild of "the government of Walid Jumblatt".

Intense fighting between Druze forces and Shi'ite militiamen raged on in the villages of Shouf, the towns of Aley and Shuwayfat, raising red sirens throughout Lebanon. This is where heavy fighting had taken place in the civil war - and although the war ended nearly 20 years ago - the wounds have not healed.

Two Hezbollah members were killed in the Druze districts, and another disappeared, prompting Jumblatt to give an urgent press conference, accepting blame for the entire ordeal and calling on his troops to lay down their arms, avoid a sectarian outburst, and transfer order of the districts to the Lebanese army.

Jumblatt added, "I must admit that the Iranians are smart and they knew how to play it in Lebanon. They chose a time when the US is weak in the Middle East and did it."

Calm was restored to Beirut when the government, with as much face-saving as possible, revoked its earlier decisions by transferring the issue of the communication system, and the security commander of Beirut Airport, to the army. Instead of executing the orders Army Commander Michel Suleiman, a neutral third party, declared both null. It is still unclear if the Siniora cabinet will issue a formal apology for its actions, as the Hezbollah-led opposition is requesting.

Regardless, it was a political and military victory for Hezbollah.

The March 14 claims it was a moral victory for itself as well, saying that they had helped prevent a civil war by backing down on their earlier legislation. To date, while fighting continues in the Druze mountains, and has even reached as far north as Tripoli, the government has not resigned. Not even has Interior Minister Hassan al-Sabe, who is a member of March 14.

Rumors circulated in Beirut that Siniora wanted to step down when the fighting was at its peek, but was prevented from doing so by Saudi Arabia. The Saudis, enraged by what was happened in Beirut, realized that Iran - and the Syrians - had taken the upper hand in Beirut.

True, Hezbollah has restored all "occupied" districts to the army, but it is clear they were far superior in power, training, arms and logistics to Saudi Arabia's proxies in Lebanon. Additionally, they have done it once. Nothing prevents them from doing it again at any time the Saudi-backed government tries to dismantle, crush or curb Hezbollah's influence.

When a coup is not a coup
Speaking at the southern village of Bint Jbeil in 2005, Nasrallah once said, "There is talk of disarming the resistance. Any thought of disarming the resistance is pure madness. We do not want to attack anyone. We have never done so. And we will never allow anyone to attack Lebanon. But if anyone, no matter who, even thinks about disarming the resistance, we will fight him like the martyr-seekers in Karbala."

That sums it up. Nasrallah will not allow anybody to touch the arms of Hezbollah and is willing to fight to maintain his status, and that of his party, in the Arab-Israeli conflict. His supporters argue that as a pragmatic leader, and a cunning statesman who excels in psychological warfare, he does not want to rule Beirut.

He is neither interested nor politically able (although it would be easy, in military terms). He realizes that the confessional system of Lebanon is too complicated for such a task, and said it bluntly last Wednesday, "If they told us to come take over, we would say 'no thank you'."

Had he wanted a real coup, he would not have transferred control to the Lebanese army, nor would he have laid down his arms in Beirut. He would have invaded and stormed the homes of Jumblatt and Hariri and arrested both of them, along with Siniora, and set up a new government, to his liking, and to that of Iran. But that is an illogical scenario that would never pass.

What he did last week in Beirut was show his power - flex his muscles - and tell the world, "I am still here. Still in control and still powerful - or as some would say, king - in Lebanese politics."
It was a rude wake-up call to all those who imagined he would never go this far to bring his message to the region and the international community

HIV-positive man sentenced 35 years for spitting at officer

DALLAS - An HIV-positive man convicted of spitting into the eye and mouth of a Dallas police officer has been sentenced to 35 years in prison.

Because a jury found that Willie Campbell used his saliva as a deadly weapon, the 42-year-old will have to serve half his sentence before becoming eligible for parole. He was sentenced Wednesday.

Campbell was being arrested in May 2006 for public intoxication when he began resisting and kicking inside the patrol car, Dallas police office Dan Waller testified.

Campbell was convicted of harassment of a public servant.

It is important to understand that finding a small amount of HIV in a body fluid does not necessarily mean that HIV can be transmitted by that body fluid. HIV has not been recovered from the sweat of HIV-infected persons. Contact with saliva, tears, or sweat has never been shown to result in transmission of HIV.

Update: As Aidsmap very cleverly points out, despite being covered by almost two hundred news sources, only three (The New York Times, USA Today, and the Clarion-Ledger from Miss.) pointed out that HIV cannot be transmitted through saliva. It's shocking, disappointing, enraging, that no one even thought to corroborate this. Is the human race completely stupid? Seems like it.

'It is shocking that in the same country which has some of the most advanced research into HIV and its treatments, there can be such ignorance within the legal system as to how HIV is transmitted,” said Deborah Jack, Executive Director of the National AIDS Trust. “This is not justice but a victory for fear, myth and prejudice. Such a verdict - contradicted by all the science - must constitute a breach of Mr Campbell's right to a fair trial.” (Aidsmap)

I'm assuming since Mr. Cambell is a homeless man (a fact I just found out through the NYTimes article, since the AP/Yahoo! one didn't even mention it) his attorney must have been appointed by the court. Seems that Russell Hendricks, the lawyer, was the dunce in his graduating class from law school, barely scraped by to get his license, and then freely accepted the verdict without raising hell. Idiot.

Even scarier is that that same Aidsmap article (they had to be British to write such a good article; I guess you can't depend on American news sources) cites several precedents for condemning HIV-positive people to longer jail terms for spitting at police officers. This is a clear prejudice towards HIV+. What the hell is the world coming to?

Am considerat de datoria mea să ies la această înaltă tribună pentru a face publică poziţia creştin-democraţilor în legătură cu manifestările tot mai agresive şi mai neruşinate ale unor grupuri marginale ale societăţii noastre de a impune societăţii practicile sexuale anormale ca pe o normalitate. Există anumite curente în lume care urmăresc surparea temeliilor morale ale societăţii şi care caută să penetreze şi să se răspândească şi în societatea noastră. Recenta tentativă de a organiza o aşa-numită paradă a homosexualilor şi a lesbienelor în centrul Chişinăului este o dovadă scandaloasă în acest sens. Am urmărit cu atenţie reacţiile critice ale celor care se declară victime ale intoleranţei, ca şi ale pretinşilor apărători ai drepturilor omului împotriva lui Dumnezeu şi a creaţiei Lui.

Tot aici aş remarca şi uşurinţa cu care o parte a presei devine instrument de manipulare a acestor grupuri zgomotoase care atacă morala publică. O astfel de lipsă de discernământ se explică prin atitudinea potrivit căruia într-o democraţie fiecare poate să facă orice.

Să nu uităm, însă, că Republica Moldova este una dintre cele mai religioase şi mai creştine ţări din Europa. Statisticile arată că circa 98% din populaţia ţării noastre mărturiseşte credinţa creştină ortodoxă, alături de fraţii catolici, baptişti sau de alte confesiuni creştine. Celelalte culte religioase sunt şi ele promotoare ale unor valori morale tradiţionale, pe care se şi întemeiază o societate care vrea să dăinuie în timp. Nimeni nu împiedică în ţara noastră, nici legile, nici practica activităţii organelor de stat, ateismul sau lipsa oricărei credinţe religioase. Şi totuşi, noi, ca reprezentanţi ai poporului, avem datoria morală să reprezentăm interesele majorităţii covârşitoare a oamenilor care ne-au adus în această sală prin votul lor şi care au convingeri moral-religioase.

Partidul Popular Creştin Democrat împărtăşeşte viziunea creştină asupra omului şi a lumii ca operă a lui Dumnezeu. Dumnezeu-Creatorul ne-a creat pe noi, creaturile lui, după chipul şi asemănarea Sa, ne-a făcut fiinţe responsabile în faţa Lui şi ne-a dat legile morale de organizare a societăţii. Însăşi morala ca sentiment al răspunderii omului este o derivată a sentimentului religios, iar noi ca oameni de stat avem datoria să veghem la asigurarea moralei publice. www.ppcd.md

Manifestările de genul celor care s-au consumat recent în centrul capitalei sfidează morala publică şi legile ţării. Mai grav, astfel de acţiuni ale celor care îşi zic de orientare netradiţională atacă în mod direct instituţii fundamentale ca FAMILIA, BISERCA ŞI ŞCOALA.

Iar în felul acesta sunt atacaţi copiii noştri, este agresat viitorul acestei ţări. Legile ţării noastre la acest capitol sunt perfect euroconforme, statul apără dreptul la intimitatea vieţii private, inclusiv la astfel de ocupaţii care în mod obişnuit trezesc reacţii de repulsie. Însă una este intimitatea vieţii private şi cu totul altceva este invadarea ostentativă a spaţiului public cu asemenea manifestări de sfidare a bunului simţ. Iată de ce cred că acei cetăţeni acre au reacţionat activ şi paşnic împotriva grupului care a descins în piaţă a fost perfect justificată.

Să nu uităm, dragi colegi, că una din sarcinile de bază ale statului constă în asigurarea perpetuării poporului său. De aceea, pentru noi, de o primă importanţă este protecţia a familiei, ceea ce presupune asigurarea dezvoltării sănătoase din punct de vedere fizic şi psihic a copiilor.

De menţionat este faptul că art. 48 din Constituţia Republicii Moldova stabileşte foarte clar că „Familia se întemeiază pe căsătoria liber consimţită între bărbat şi femeie, pe egalitatea lor în drepturi şi pe dreptul şi îndatorirea părinţilor de a asigura creşterea, educaţia şi instruirea copiilor." Astfel, este evident că activitatea ONG Gender Doc-M sfidează litera şi spiritul Legii supreme a societăţii şi statului, pledând pentru legalizarea aşa-ziselor căsătorii homosexuale. Şi mai grav este faptul că această organizaţie chiar a simulat un fel de oficiere a unei căsătorii între două persoane de acelaşi sex arătând astfel că pledează pentru desfiinţarea instituţiei familiei, aşa cum astăzi aceasta este acceptată de întreaga noastră societate.

Promovarea şi aplicarea acestei ideologii în unele state s-a răsfrânt negativ asupra instituţiei familiei şi a perturbat temeliile armoniei sociale. Se ştie de asemenea că mulţi dintre purtătorii virusului HIV/SIDA sunt homosexualii.

Mulţimea cazurilor de abuzare sexuală a copiilor care se constată acum în unele ţări din occidentale, reprezintă o consecinţă directă a unei viziuni eronate asupra sexualităţii. Iată de ce trebuie sa-i protejăm pe copii noştri de propaganda făcută de unii ONG-işti, precum şi de unele instituţii mass-media, care le perturbează viaţa.

Noi nu avem intenţia de a discrimina persoanele adulte care simt o tendinţă homosexuală. Avem tot respectul pentru fiecare persoană, care are discernământ şi alege în mod liber modul în care îşi trăieşte viaţa. Ceea ce însă nu trebuie să uite nimeni este faptul că pentru modul în care uzăm de libertatea noastră vom răspunde, fiecare în parte, în faţa Lui Dumnezeu. Dragi colegi, fac apel către toate partidele politice, către instituţiile mass-media, către întreaga societate civilă să manifestăm răspundere şi solidaritate în apărarea copiilor noştri, a familiei şi a moralei publice. Aici nu e loc nici de competiţie politică, nici de indiferenţă.

Sexualitatea este o chestiune intimă, care ţine de viaţa privată a fiecăruia şi este amoral să transformi o chestiune intimă în subiect de propagandă homosexuală şi de demonstraţie publică. Atunci când unii încearcă să organizeze parade ale homosexualilor, trebuie mai întâi să se întrebe dacă nu cumva asemenea evenimente publice, nemaiîntâlnite în istoria Republicii Moldova, sunt de natură să îi sfideze în mod obraznic pe cetăţenii formaţi în cultura noastră creştin-ortodoxă care este a majorităţii absolute, majoritate care este în consens de viziune asupra moralei cu celelalte culte din ţara noastră.

Constituţia Republicii Moldova prevede clar în art. 28 că „Statul ocroteşte viaţa intimă, familială şi privată". Considerăm că această garanţie constituţională este mai mult decât suficientă pentru cei care decid să aibă o viaţă sexuală deviantă. Pentru asta ei nu pot fi discriminaţi. Dar noi nu putem admite ca integritatea spirituală, morală şi psihică a copiilor noştri să fie pusă în pericol de cineva care, fiind mânat de porniri deviante, încearcă să creeze precedente abominabile în ţara noastră.

Homosexualitatea reprezintă un eşec moral şi existenţial, prin pierderea menirii omului de a se împlini pe sine însuşi prin urmaşi. Prin actul creaţiei Dumnezeu a dat viaţă bărbatului şi femeii, imprimându-le menirea de a fi "un singur trup", în scopul perpetuării neamului omenesc. În faţa acestei realităţi evidente, homosexualitatea reprezintă un abuz lipsit de finalitate, un eşec al instinctului de conservare a speciei umane.

Dragi colegi, am fost şi trebuie să rămânem creştini, responsabili de faptele noastre în faţa Lui Dumnezeu. Iar consensul naţional în privinţa integrării europene nu poate fi o scuză pentru stimularea unor astfel de manifestări care aduc atingere convingerilor noastre religioase şi morale, ca şi obligaţiei statului de a proteja familia, copiii şi morala publică.

Nu cred că lichelele vor „auzi ”cu adevărat noul apel al lui Liiceanu. De ce ar face-o? Le e foarte bine în postura și poziția pe care și-au ales-o. Apelul conștientizează însă restul lumii că lichelele nu s-au dat bătute.Ba sunt mai „fresh” ca niciodată.

Mai întâi e vorba de marea umilinţă pe care filozofia o îndură din partea ştiinţelor. Filozofia nu este un mod de cunoaştere, iar filozoful nu poate furniza oamenilor cunoştinţe despre univers şi tocmai de aceea toate informaţiile de care dispune vin de la ştiinţe.
E ca acea dependenţă neplăcută faţă de sursa de materii prime a existenţei tale. Ai nevoie de teme asupra cărora să te apleci, iar aceste teme vin mereu din afara filozofiei. Filozofia e ca o moară conceptuală în care eşti silit să pisezi mereu grăunţele altora. Ea şi-a pierdut autonomia, adică acel domeniu de predilecţie asupra căreia să-şi poată exercita jurisdicţia. E ca o staţie de tranzit filozofia aceasta. Din acest motiv nu-i mai putem cere să facă ceea ce a încetat de mult să mai poată face, de pildă să dea seama de universul în care trăim sau să ne pună la îndemână cheia cunoaşterii omeneşti. Dezideratele acestea ţin de o epocă încheiată şi nu cred că se mai găseşte cineva care să creadă serios că filozofia mai poate spune ceva revoluţionar sub acest unghi.

A doua veste tristă vine dinspre ideologie, mai precis dinspre dureroasa servitute pe care filozofia o resimte în raport cu lumea puterii. E atâta damf ideologic în filozofie încât nu poţi să n-o priveşti ca pe o prelungire a politicului. Tot ceea ce numim politologie - un set de discipline hibride cu rol servil, menite a da o glazură teoretică deciziilor neteoretice ale politicienilor - are parcă rostul de a întreţine intelectualilor iluzia că mai au un cuvânt de spus în privinţa tendinţelor politice. Iluzie pe cât de măgulitoare, pe atât de înşelătoare, căci cursul politic actual nu e hotărât de specialiştii în politologie, dovadă că politicienii neglijează dezbaterile ideologice. Şi bine fac. Liberalism, neoconservatorism sau paleoconservatorism sunt toate prilejuri simandicoase prin care intelectualii se iau singuri în serios într-o lume în care nimeni nu mai dă doi bani pe ei. Vor să se mintă că sunt în cărţi şi atunci li se face cadou această jucărie total inofensivă numită politologie.

Dar atunci ce va mai fi filozofia peste 30 de ani? Un mijloc redutabil de instrucţie, o cale de formare a omului. Când spun asta mă gândesc la două virtuţi filozofice: mai întâi, la dobândirea flerului limbii. Nu s-a inventat mijloc mai eficient de a-ţi cizela limba decît filozofia. Fără limbă nu există gândire, chiar dacă gândirea nu se reduce la limbă. E vorba de o precizie filologică cu nimic mai prejos de precizia jucătorilor de snooker (biliard) de azi: să trimiţi bila exact acolo unde ţi-ai dorit şi cu efectul pe care l-ai vrut de la început. În cazul nostru, să foloseşti cuvintele în adevăratul lor înţeles şi în toată puterea lor. E o mare pricepere să ştii să stabileşti nuanţe, iar amănuntul acesta îţi sare în ochi de îndată ce asculţi un om vorbind sau imediat ce îi citeşti trei fraze. În această privinţă, filozofia rămâne o disciplină aparte: formează jucători de şah, iar nu jucători de table.

A doua virtute priveşte formarea cadrelor de gândire ale unui om. E ca atunci când, pentru a ridica o casă, trebuie mai întâi să-i torni fundaţia. Cu deosebirea esenţială că fundaţia nu o torni prin manipulare mediatică, ci prin cercetarea tradiţiei. Vezi cum gândeau cei de acum trei secole şi te întrebi ce te deosebeşte de ei şi constaţi că nu există un tipar unic de gândire al omenirii, aşa cum vor să ne înveţe fanaticii corectitudinii politice. Pe scurt, filozofia poate fi o sursă a gândirii libere într-o lume în care presiunea mediatică le răpeşte oamenilor obişnuinţa gândirii. E principala virtute prin care filozofia va putea în viitor să opună o rezistenţă manipulatorilor profesionişti.

Aşa că, în ciuda auspiciilor nu tocmai idilice în care îi pot anticipa viitorul, filozofia rămâne un resort al libertăţii. Ea va supravieţui sub forma cercurilor de prieteni şi în ipostaza informală a grupurilor create prin afinităţi sufleteşti. Asemenea cercuri vor fi precum oazele presărate într-un deşert mediatic: la suprafaţă, adică pe ecranul oficial al televiziunilor, vom vedea varianta aseptică a unei subculturi dictate de puternicii zilei, iar dedesubt, în straturile clandestine, vom găsi găoacele culturii libere. În interiorul acestor alveole culturale, filozofia va avea un cuvânt greu de spus. De ce? Fiindcă, prin instrucţia pe care ţi-o dă, filozofia are un efect subversiv faţă de scara de valori instituită de puterea zilei. Asta înseamnă că, deşi la nivel universitar filozofia se prăbuşeşte, sub unghiul cercurilor informale ea va înflori. Va fi precum tresărirea defensivă în faţa unei agresiuni concertate de tip mediatic. Va fi forma de rezistenţă împotriva unei subculturi produse la comandă politică.
