Both packs will bring new experiences to the single-player mode, and will be available worldwide for both Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.</p>
<h3><span style="color:#993300;">FREE SINGLE PLAYER MAP PACK: BRAVE NEW WORLDS</span></h3>
<p>The Brave New Worlds single player map pack includes four all-new maps for Civilization Revolution players to conquer. '<em><strong>Mazeworld</strong></em>' is covered by mountains, making your global expansion all the more tricky. '<em><strong>Chokepoint</strong></em>' is aptly named for its unique terrain structure that forces you to fight for the dominant positions on the map. '<em><strong>Donutworld</strong></em>' has a special donut shape to it (hence its name), and '<em><strong>Checkerboard</strong></em>,' a map consisting of similarly sized islands peppered throughout the world.</p>
<p><span style="color:#ff0000;"><strong>These four new single player maps are completely free for all players.</strong></span></p>
<h3><span style="color:#993300;">SCENARIO PACK: THE VICTORY PACK</span></h3>
<p><span style="color:#993300;"><strong>The Victory Pack</strong></span> includes three new scenarios for gamers to tackle in single player mode. They include '<em><strong>Enlightenment</strong></em>' where players show off their civilization's grandeur as they vie for a cultural victory, '<em><strong>Hyper Drive</strong></em>,' a high-speed space race, and '<em><strong>Gold Rush</strong></em>' where amassing money fast will win the game.<br />
<span style="color:#ff0000;"><strong>The Victory Pack is available on Xbox Live for 100 MS Points.</strong></span></p>

<title><![CDATA[The early bird catches the worm]]></title>

<description><![CDATA[An awful lot of self-publishers don&#8217;t consider advertising and marketing until they&#8217;ve f]]></description>
<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>An awful lot of self-publishers don't consider advertising and marketing until they've finished their book and it's about to appear in online stores. In fact, a fair number don't consider it at all, and the same goes for conventionally published authors. Writers who think they are going to sit back and wait for the money to come rolling in without lifting a finger to promote their books are sadly mistaken. Commercial publishers may put a considerable amount of effort into marketing their most prized authors, but the remainder are left to sink or swim, so they are in the same boat as the self-published author in that regard. Even though I began planning for my book's launch several months ago, I find myself now scurrying around trying to get everything in place in time. Networking, blogging, building web sites, sending out press releases... this all takes time and effort.</p>
<p>An author (whether self-published or not) needs a blog, because readers are going to want to know more about you than what's offered in the standard author bio on the back of a book cover or on a publisher's web site. A blog doesn't just give your readers the opportunity to get to know you a little better, it gives them the chance to gauge your writing style and ability. If you aren't engaging company in your bog, they're going to think your book probably won't be any more captivating. I found it a little difficult, at first, to find a balance... I didn't want to be so informal that my reader got the idea that I was his or her best buddy, but I didn't want to swing in the other direction and end up so formal that I ended up sounding like a stuffed shirt. I do recommend updating your blog at least twice a week, to keep readers coming back, and adding pictures (if they're relevant of course) as they add a bit of interest. </p>
<p>You need a web site, whether self-published or not. For that web site you need a personalised domain name... so www.myname.com or www.mybooktitle.com, not www.freehostsarecheap.com/freepage/myname.html or something equally unprofessional. If you can't put together a decent site yourself then find someone who can, because it may well be the first contact your reader has with details of your book, and a bad site leaves a bad (in a lasting way) impression. It doesn't have to be complicated, it simply needs to present you and your book in a manner which does both of you credit.</p>
<p>To write an effective press release you need to don your journalist head. Your book may be the most important thing in your life, and the lives of your husband/wife, children and Labrador, but what makes it something worth sitting up and taking notice of for every other human being on the planet? I have suffered extreme culture shock, going from being a writer to being a businesswoman who has to peddle my wares and promote my "product" to the world at large, and of all the things I've had to do so far, writing the press release was the most time consuming (and vexing). It's ironic that writers, who write for a living after all, find it so difficult to write about themselves. I have written pretty good (though I say so myself) blurbs for the most mundane of things, but when it came to writing about my book I was stumped. It's just as well that I allowed several months to turn out the final release. For some reason, self-publishers seem to get the idea that a press release should be sent out only once the book is available at stores, but you really need to start whetting the appetites of people <em>before</em> the book is available... although, not so far in advance that everyone's forgotten about it when it finally is launched.</p>
<p>Networking is important. I am an incredibly shy person... painfully so... but it's important to make contacts and make yourself heard if you want people to notice that both you and your book exist. I did leave this side of things rather late, hence the running about like a headless chicken at this moment in time, and I have a lot of catching up to do. The more sites you join, the more links you post, the more times your book is mentioned, the more your web site or blog (whichever one you link to) will creep up that google ranking. It takes time and work to elevate a web site's status. If you're going to list your book with google's book search facility then allow a couple of months for that to appear online. Again, as with sending out press releases, self-publishers seem to leave this until the book is available at Amazon, and sites like Lulu appear to promote this way of thinking.</p>
<p>If you have a book coming out next week and you haven't started promoting it yet... what are you doing reading this, get on with it! You have months of work to catch up on.</p>

New England won the first two meetings between the teams this season 3-1 on April 9 at CommunityAmerica Ballpark. Kansas City will face the Revs in two of its final three matches as they look to jump over the Colorado Rapids and FC Dallas and into the final playoff spot. After Sunday’s 1-1 tie against Chicago, the Wizards are just one point behind the two Western Conference teams for the final playoff position with three matches remaining. The Kansas City Wizards are teaming up with American Family Insurance for Breast Cancer Awareness Month activities surrounding this weekend’s match against the New England Revolution. The Young Survival Coalition (YSC) will be the main beneficiary of that night’s events, but all Breast Cancer Awareness groups are encouraged to take advantage of a special fundraising opportunity through Wizards tickets. The game kicks off at 7 p.m. CT at CommunityAmerica Ballpark.<br />
 <br />
As part of the game-day experience, fans will be able to purchase pink soccer balls and pins with proceeds going to YSC. Wizards goalkeeper Kevin Hartman will also wear a pink jersey for the match that the Wizards will sell via auction at <a href="http://www.kcwizards.com">www.kcwizards.com</a>. American Family Insurance will match the final sale price, and all proceeds will be donated to YSC. In addition, American Family has purchased 50 tickets for the match and donated them so that a group from YSC can attend free of charge. They will also sponsor a halftime “Kicks for Cancer” competition, with money donated to YSC for every shot made by a fan participant.<br />

While YSC are the primary beneficiaries of the evening’s events, any Breast Cancer Awareness organization can take part in a special ticket promotion. Through the deal, a portion of proceeds of tickets purchased through an organization will be donated by the Wizards to help fundraising efforts.<br />

RTE.ie news ran a story for most of yesterday which ran under the alarming headline "90,000 Irish hit by identity fraud". This was marking the beginning of something called National Identity Fraud Prevention Week. Guess what? It is an initiative of <a href="http://www.fellowes.co.uk/index.aspx?language=uk">Fellowes</a> and:</p>
<blockquote><p>Spokesperson for the campaign Ciaran Dunne says eight out of 10 people routinely throw personal information in the bin and these are easy pickings for fraudsters looking to steal their identities.</p></blockquote>
<p>Talk about shamelessly creating yourself a market? Easy pickings indeed. Dublin 6 is full of lads with black hoods rummaging through black bins in the nether hours. They even got TV's Adrian Chiles to present a <a href="http://www.stop-idfraud.co.uk/">useful demo</a> on their UK site. I didn't hear Matt Cooper's show last night but I would bet anyone reading this that he had someone on explaining the risks of not doing enough shredding. You know? Shredding...with a Fellowes shredder? That's not research, that's a press release.</p>

I won't labour the point. I'll leave it to you to decide which is more important: knowing that someone <em>could </em>use your discarded eircom bill to buy themselves a mobile or that "children with chronic illness and immigrant children are more likely than their peers to have been bullied".</p>
<p>This post is kind of in response to Damien's <a href="http://www.mulley.net/2008/10/06/eu-conference-social-activism-online-in-ireland-take-aways/" target="_self">yesterday.</a> <strong>UPDATE</strong>: they even had the cheek to use triplets in the photo op and this is reproduced in today's Irish Times. According to this piece:</p>

Masih ingat dengan pembunuhan sadis yang menghebohkan beberpa bulan lalu dan ternyata pembunuh tersebut memiliki hubungan dengan beberapa selebritis Indonesia?</p>
<p>Diwangkara Film melalui tangan sutradara Steady Rimba mencoba mengangkat peristiwa sadis nan menggemparkan tersebut ke layar lebar. Cerita yang terinspirasi dari kejadian nyata ini dibuat dengan mengangkat sisi cerita kehidupan seorang lelaki pendiam dari awal masa kecil yang kelam dan traumatis hingga akhirnya menjadi pembunuh sadis dan berdarah dingin.</p>
<p>Cerita film ini diawali dengan ditemukannya korban mutilasi di dalam sebuah koper yang di temukan oleh seorang pemancing di pinggiran kali. Pelaku mutilasi tersebut bernama Rien, seorang pemuda yang memiliki masa lalu kelam.</p>
<p>Sewaktu kecil Rien sering dihina teman-temannya karena dianggap cengeng dan penakut. Dia tak pernah menang jika berkelahi dengan Dewo, temannya yang bertubuh kekar dan suka mengejeknya itu. Sampai akhirnya sewaktu Rien dan Dewo hanya berdua sedang mandi di pinggir kali di kampungnya, Rien sengaja mendorong Dewo ke sungai yang saat itu sedang pasang dan deras karena malam harinya baru turun hujan. Dan Rien membiarkan Dewo terbawa arus Keesokan harinya Dewo ditemukan tewas dan itu adalah pertama kalinya Rien membunuh.</p>
<p>Masa lalu kelam yang dialami Rein menjadikan nya seorang pembunuh yang sadis. Pembunuhan demi pembunuhan dilakukannya tanpa ada rasa bersalah sedikitpun.</p>
<p>Sampai suatu hari polisi mencarinya, Rien merasa ketakutan dan melarikan diri. Kini Rien menjadi buronan polisi. Apakah polisi berhasil menangkap Rien? Saksikan Rien Pembunuh Berantai mulai 8 Oktober 2008 hanya di Blitzmegaplex. (oz2008)</p>

<span style="color:#999999;">मिठो खाने र राम्रो लगाउने सपना साचेर कल्पनाको सगरमाथा चडदै गर्दा जब अर्को सहयात्री यात्राबाट विलाउछ साहै्र दिकदारी लाग्दोरहेछ । रिस ,घमण्ड, अक्रोस र महत्वाकांक्षाले भरिएको यो जीवनको गन्तव्य मृत्यु हो भन्ने सत्य भुलेर जब हामी मिथ्या सपना र नामका पछाडी कुदिरहन्छौ यो केवल दिग्भ्रम रहेछ । बिहानै राजन बर्तौलाजीले रत्नले सधैकालागी हामीलाई छोडेर जानुभयो भन्ने खबर दिनुभयो त्यसबेला म रेस्टुराँ डिपोटमा किनमेल गर्दै थिए, थचक्कै भुइमा बसे । नौ नाडी गलेर आए, एक घण्टा अगाडिमात्र रत्नजीको स्वास्थको बारेमा राजनजी संग टेलि फोनमा सोधेको थिए र सुधार हुदै गएको सुनेर खुशी भएको एक घण्टा वित्न नपाउदै वहाँको मृत्युको खबरले हामी स्तव्ध भयौ । बृद्ध बुबा, आमा , परिवारको एक्लो छोरो, िसंगो परिवारको एकमात्र आम्दानीको श्रोत, तीन जना नाबालाक बच्चाको अभिभावक, होनहार श्रमजीवी, सहकर्मी र साथीहरु विच आखiका नानी कहिले नरिसाउने, कत्ति भद्र हुनुहुन्थ्यो तपाई ।</span></strong><!--more--><br />
जीवनमा धेरै सपनाहरु संगै बुनेका थियौ धेरै योजनाहरु सोचेका थियौ, संघठनका बारेमा सृजनात्मक कदम उठाउने कसम खाएका थियौ ।  संघठनलाई मिलाएर लैजानुपर्ने अठोठ थियो तपाईको र म विच । तपाईले जीवनको सत्य बाटो बुझनुभयो र हामीलाई यात्रामा एक्लो छोडेर जानुभयो । तपाईको परिवार प्रतिको जीम्मेवारी र बृद्ध बुबा आमाको आशुलाई हासोमा वदलन त किहिले सक्दैनौ कमसेकम तपाईले कल्पना गर्नुभएको संघठनको एकताको प्रयासलाई निरन्तरता दिनेछु ।<br />

<title><![CDATA[Raymond Vineyards Celebrates 35th Harvest]]></title>

<p class="MsoNoSpacing" style="margin:0;"><span style="font-size:small;font-family:Calibri;">The 35th harvest at Raymond Vineyards is going strong in Napa Valley. Founded in 1971 by father and sons team Roy Sr., Roy Jr. and Walter Raymond, the first Raymond harvest took place in 1974. “We didn’t have a lot of equipment, the crush area was just a barn really, but it was an exciting time for our family,” says Walter Raymond, winemaker since the winery’s inception and now President since the retirement of his older brother, Roy Jr., in 2006. “We planted the vineyards and built the winery ourselves. We really built the business as a family.”</span></p>
<p class="MsoNoSpacing" style="margin:0;"><span><span style="font-size:small;font-family:Calibri;"> </span></span></p>
<p class="MsoNoSpacing" style="margin:0;"><span style="font-size:small;font-family:Calibri;">Some of the first varietals planted at the Rutherford estate property were Napa Gamay, Chenin Blanc, Johannisberg Riesling, Pinot Noir and Zinfandel along with Merlot, Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon. Over time, it became evident to Walter that Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Chardonnay were the more dominant varietals for that area of the Napa Valley. “We started replanting areas of the property in the 1980’s. Certain grape varieties didn’t seem to flourish this far north in the valley and consumer tastes were changing too,” reflects Walter. “Bordeaux varietals, especially Cabernet Sauvignon, thrive in this area.”</span></p>
<p class="MsoNoSpacing" style="margin:0;"><span><span style="font-size:small;font-family:Calibri;"> </span></span></p>
<p class="MsoNoSpacing" style="margin:0;"><span style="font-size:small;font-family:Calibri;">“I always remember the early harvests as a time for our family to be at the winery together,” says Krisi Raymond, the winery’s Director of Strategic Planning. “My sister and I were pretty young, so we spent more time in the pool at my grandparent’s house than anything else. We did try to earn a little money by selling Kool-Aid. We would set-up our drink stand at the south end of the pool so that everyone could buy a glass when they stopped for a snack or to take a phone call. It was successful for a few vintages.”</span></p>
<p class="MsoNoSpacing" style="margin:0;"><span><span style="font-size:small;font-family:Calibri;"> </span></span></p>
<p class="MsoNoSpacing" style="margin:0;"><span style="font-size:small;font-family:Calibri;">“Now, harvest is a great chance to really reconnect with the joy of the wine business, the soil and the fruit.<span>  </span>It is always exciting and the challenges are varied - it is a fun way to share experiences with family and to connect with the people at Raymond that make things happen everyday. I spend quite a bit of time at my desk these days, and harvest is a great excuse to get out of the office and get dirty. The nice thing is that those experiences make me better at the rest of my job - as I am able to share all of that fascinating information with the staff in the tasting room and wine club, and with those that I meet on the road,” reflects Krisi.</span></p>
<p class="MsoNoSpacing" style="margin:0;"><span><span style="font-size:small;font-family:Calibri;"> </span></span></p>
<p class="MsoNoSpacing" style="margin:0;"><span style="font-size:small;font-family:Calibri;">The winery began celebrating the 2008 harvest earlier this year. They first offered a “Harvest Boot Camp” weekend for four people during the Narsai Toast fundraiser to benefit Berkeley Repertory Theatre in April, followed by a thirty-five year Cabernet Sauvignon retrospective e-auction lot (including the unreleased 2006-2008 vintages) during Auction Napa Valley in June. The winery also hosted a Harvest Celebration party in early September to coincide with the release of their first Oakville appellation Cabernet Sauvignon and a new Small Lot Red Wine blend, available exclusively at the winery.</span></p>

<p class="MsoNoSpacing" style="margin:0;"><span style="font-size:small;font-family:Calibri;">In celebration of this 35th harvest, all Raymond employees are also participating in a harvest boot camp. “We want everyone to get their hands dirty this year,” says Krisi. “It’s not only educational for our employees to learn more about the winemaking process, it’s a way to bond as a team. We are having a lot of fun with the newbie workers. We are making them do everything, from berry sampling in the vineyards and yeasting tanks, to helping in the lab and working on the grape sorting table.”</span></p>

<p class="MsoNoSpacing" style="margin:0;"><span style="font-size:small;font-family:Calibri;">This milestone harvest has been an interesting one at Raymond. Consistently warm weather in the latter part of August and early September, coupled with zero overnight fog, had the Raymond team scrambling, initially. Harvest officially began at the winery on August 25th and seemed to be non-stop activity until the cooling fog and lower temperatures prevailed on September 8th. Harvest activity has slowed since and Walter feels the winery’s estate Cabernet Sauvignon vineyards will be picked in mid October, with harvest concluding in late October. “It seems to be a very balanced vintage with great flavors and intensity,” states Walter. “A new vintage is always exciting.”</span></p>

<p class="MsoNoSpacing" style="margin:0;"><span style="font-size:small;"><span style="font-family:Calibri;"><strong>Wins!</strong><span>  </span>Finlandia Vodka’s Grapefruit Fusion won the only “Master” award in the flavored vodka category in the 2008 Vodka Masters Competition.<span>  </span>Now that is something considering twenty other entries were being sampled in the same category.<span>  </span>Congrats Finlandia.<span>  </span>While I have not had the opportunity to taste any of Finlandia’s Vodkas to date, I will have to see if I can round up a bottle and get some recipes up on the site soon.<span>  </span>Absinthe is sweeping the nation.<span>  </span>Obsello Absinthe is the latest with its launch in San Francisco last month and now moving on to upscale nightclubs and restaurants in Los Angeles and New York.<span>  </span>Liquor just got more interesting.<span>  </span>Basil Hyden’s is narrowing the playing field in its search for new designers.<span>  </span>Three top finalists were chosen by celebrity designer Nate Berkus.<span>  </span>No longer is this all about bourbon, but now it is about a chair, coffee table and chandelier.<span>  </span>Who knew?!<span>  </span>At least there was an elite cocktail party to follow.<span>  </span>Pancho Campo, president and founder of The Wine Academy of Spain, didn’t exactly “win” something, but he did earn the recognition of first Spanish Master of Wine by passing the three-part examination required for the honor.<span>  </span>Pancho Campo joins a select group of less than 276 others who have earned the title worldwide since 1953.<span>  </span>Congratulations!<span>  </span>Lastly, a win for Wine.com and other online retailers wishing to sale their wine to Michigan consumers.<span>  </span>A federal court ruled Michigan’s laws banning direct wine sales to consumers by out of state retailers unconstitutional.<span>  </span>There are still other states out there with the same kinds of bans.<span>  </span>Possibly this is one step in helping lift those state laws as well.<span>  </span>We’ll have to wait and see.</span></span></p>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>As many people consider using social media in support of their <a title="Jacksonville Public Relations" href="http://bbased.com/pr-case-studies.html" target="_blank">public relations campaign</a> or in some cases, in place of their PR campaign, we wanted to offer some insight as to why the press release is <a title="&#34;The press release is (almost) dead&#34; Blog" href="http://everydotconnects.com/2008/09/27/put-a-fork-in-it-the-press-release-is-almost-dead/" target="_blank">not dead</a>.</p>
<p>The growing popularity of social networking sites, such as <a title="BBased on Twitter" href="http://www.twitter.com/jaxwebdesign" target="_blank">Twitter</a>, <a href="http://www.facebook.com" target="_blank">Facebook</a>, <a href="http://www.linkedin.com" target="_blank">LinkedIn</a> and <a title="Wordpress" href="http://www.wordpress.com" target="_blank">blogs</a>, has taken away most of the spotlight from the press release.  Among communications professionals in Jacksonville, be it marketers, public relations practitioners and journalists, the explosion of social networking has emphasized that it is truly about who, and not necessarily what, you know that will get your story in the news.  However, the very essence of public relations is found in the press release.</p>
<p>Yes, the press release is dead in the sense that putting it in a fax machine and pushing a button isn’t going to get you the results it once did. However, we believe we still have to have press releases to guide stories and provide the reporters with the necessary information. Furthermore, almost every time a story is pitched, the first thing out of a reporter/editor's mouth is: “Do you have something to send me?” This is when the release steps in as the place marker for the story. The release makes it memorable and real.</p>
<p>Social media may be the culprit for causing the original uses of the press releases to dwindle.  However, with emergence of new technology, there will always be adaptation that must take place. This is a fact the press release must face.  It will just have to adapt to the new technological world of PR, while retaining it’s strong sense of character and unwavering loyalty to the PR practitioners of the world.</p>
