This is Steve Job's M-B SL55 badly parked somewhere in the states..also notice the handicap symbol in the parking space as well as Mr.Apple's lack of a license plate-apparently it is replaced with the VIN.

Damn, that's arrogant-even for me.Even I wouldn't park in a handicap spot. Gotta admit, the lack of plates is pretty cool. Anyways, if I were a billionaire like him I would definitely need a better set of wheels. I'd replace the SL55 with the SL65 Black Series or better yet, an SLR 722.

SLR 722 S Roadster

First the 722 S..now the 722 S Roadster. And it just be be the most outrageous convertible ever announced.

Try a 650 hp/627lb-ft. 5.5L V8 found in a non-S model 722, good for a 0-100k in 3.7s and a top speed of 208mph.Production will be limited to 150 units. Don't forget it's still an auto transmission.

This is a letter sent to Road & Track Magazine from a man in Brooklyn, NY.

"Why don't you step back and question whether the premise of putting a 450-bhp V-8 engine into a mid-sized sedan is a necessary or defensible thing for any automaker to do ("Force Majeure," Road Test Comparison, June 2008)? When BMW's E36 M3 had a 3.0-liter 240-bhp straight-6 engine, most people (including you) said it was possibly the greatest driver's car ever made. Today you say the current M3's 414-bhp V-8 is only 4.0-liters and its power and torque output-apparently too little for you armchair Mark Donahues-is the car's "most glaring irritation." We need more vehicles that are just downright fun, instead of these overpriced, profligate beasts that few people have the skill to safely enjoy on public roads."

I thoroughly agree with this guy. People like him should be running these car magazines and companies, because apparently they've all lost the formula. Every year, I watch mid-size cars morph into full size(Such as the Accord,) engines get more displacement and power. Every new generation of a fun car gets bigger and bulkier.Minis, Miatas, Skylines, Rx-series, Lotuses, TT's, 911's, and yes, M3's. Who actually wants a big Miata? Mazda should have asked itself some questions. Such as, "why do People buy Miatas?"The answer is, it is a great handling, nimble sports car with a low price and good on your wallet.So of course, the 3rd gen. Miata has to be heavier, come with a higher price tag, and even a retractable hard-top roof.It loses the appeal. It's rumoured the next gen. BMW roadster will run on the current 3-series platform, and along with it, receive the 300-bhp twin-turbo I6, as well as a 4.0L 414-bhp V-8 out of the current M3 for the M Roadster. Have a moment to take this in. The 1.8L M43B18 in a Z3 puts out around 110-bhp. This new M roadster may have a 414-bhp motor.I'm a car enthusiast, but even so, let me ask you this:Who the hell actually needs a 414-bhp motor in a bloody 2 seat roadster? The 1st gen. Miata had great sales, praised by everyone for its "fun factor." Keep in mind it would only have 120 or so hp.

Cars will continue to become faster, bigger, more powerful, but will people be able to handle them? Car manufacturers should focus not on how to cram a V-8 into a roadster, but how to make the car just as enjoyable with a 4 cylinder engine.

le monde aime Tesla. Je pense honnêtement que leur folie a stimulé la
recherche de véhicules électriques dans l'ensemble du conseil
d'administration. Ils voulaient voir une voiture verte, et au lieu de
le faire l'ancien "petit, lent et peu pratique" modèle, ils sont allés
"minuscules, blazingly rapide, et peu pratique" à la place. La
différence, bien sûr, c'est que les gens riches fou payer un dollar
pour début minuscule, blazingly rapide et pratique de voitures tous les
jours. Alors, vraiment ... pourquoi ne pas les rendre trop vert?

Mais les objectifs à long terme de Tesla ont peu à voir avec le
Roadster, une voiture électrique avec un zéro à soixante-temps
d'environ 4 secondes. Ce qu'ils veulent vraiment faire, c'est de mettre
VÉ dans le courant dominant en faisant appel aux ultra-riches, puis aux
riches, et ensuite à la classe moyenne.

Eh bien, Tesla est de
prendre cette deuxième étape maintenant, avec des plans pour construire
de 250 $ millions de plantes pour créer son modèle de berline de luxe
S. La berline sera tout électrique et théoriquement coûte environ $
60,000. Cela est certainement moins cher que le Roadster (109 K $),
mais il est toujours dans le domaine de l'ultra cher.

Project Roadster; Spark it or park it!

A great man once said "you drive a sports car, make it look like one!" Not in reference to my car, but I have never been happy with the ride height so it struck a bit of a chord with me.

So, after some shopping round, I got a killer deal on a full set of GAZ adjustables. With 32 points of ajustment and, most importantly, thread the entire length of the body so shouldn't run out of low before my sump runs out fins.

Talking of wearing away my sump; I made a little sump guard for the fromt from some 3mm steel. It also adds a little bracing to the frame. It's not brilliant, but should save it should the worst happen.

Ok, So here is a before pic....

And after! Bear in mind that it needs adjusting again now I have let it settle for a week, so it will be going lower and I want to dial in a little more rake.

OK, enough of the teasing. Here are my two new ladies....

The Sun is a lovely machine in astonishingly good condition. The paintwork has obviously seen better days but there is no real rust and, although the chrome is sadly pitted and flaking in places, she is solid throughout. The tyres actually held air and it only needed the cones in her front axle tightened before she could be ridden around the block. Fortunately I spotted that there were a few very loose spokes before getting carried away and doing any lasting damage.

The Sun was originally to have been for my equally lovely and arty daughter who currently has a full-suspension Raleigh mountain job. However, she had her heart set on a hot pink repaint...so I've promised I'll look out for a nice loop frame in need of new paint instead, preferably one that'll take 700c rims. But I digress..

The pedals are by Brampton and the single-speed freewheel by Villiers, both reputable names in British cycle manufacturing. I've tried to be objective in dating this bicycle and so far can only deduce from the components - such as the snub-nosed Brooks B2 Lady's Model, which I can only find listed in their 1939 catalogue - combined with the lack of a reflector and the homemade distemper/whitewash patch on the rear mudguard that The Sun probably predates WWII. I'll follow up with some more photographs as I strip and rebuild her...

This Rudge - so I've been reliably informed - was originally bought by relatively local village blacksmith for his daughter and, as you might expect, was fairly well looked after. It still sports a period pump/inflator and a pair of vintage Dunlop Roadster tyres in spankingly good condition. Being 1947, this is a Nottingham Raleigh-built Rudge so it lacks the ingenious chain-driven brake system of the pre-war Super Safety but it is otherwise well-appointed and should clean up nicely. I only get to enjoy lavishing attention on her until I have her roadworthy...then she falls under the protection of my darling wife!

New Tesla Electric Car

New electric car made by Tesla is set to hit the market in 2010, according to a NY Times article. This new car, the Model S, should sell for around $60,000 and will be able to go about 200 miles on each charge from its lithium-ion battery.

Tesla's first electric car, the "Roadster", has a $109,000 price tag but can go closer to 220 miles on each 3.5 hour charge cycle.

The car will be made in Silicon Valley on a new 600,000 acre property that the state of California has given the company rent-free for the first 10 years as part of a $15 million incentive package.

This is quite a shift from the actions of the California government years ago when one of the first electric cars was created, leased, and then snagged back from under the feet of every single one of the new (and mostly ecstatic) owners by GM. Owners that included rich celebrities like Mel Gibson and Tom Hanks. (for more on this check out "Who Killed the Electric Car")

Go TESLA! and keep making it cheaper while you're at it!

V13R خودروی 3 چرخه 40000 دلاری !

شاید شما هم تا امروز مثل بنده تصورتان از یک خودروی 3 چرخه اتومبیلی فانتزی بوده است . ولی باید بگویم این تصور غلط است و این گونه اتومبیل ها در دسته ای خاص به نام Tri-Car طبقه بندی می شوند . نحوه حرکت این ماشین ها به گونه ای است که دو چرخ عقب اتومبیل وظیفه تولید نیرو و در نهایت حرکت خودرو را بر عهده دارند ؛ و توسط چرخ جلو خودرو هدایت میشود . مدل دیگری هم از این خودروها (مثل V13R) وجود دارد با این تفاوت که 2 چرخ در جلوی خودرو و 1 چرخ در عقب قرار دارد و تامین نیروی خودرو بر عهده ی چرخ عقبی و هدایت خودرو توسط دو چرخ جلو انجام میگیرد. جالب اینکه بدانید اولین خودروی سه چرخه توسط کارل بنز (بنیانگذار کمپانی خودروسازی مرسدس بنز )در سال 1886–1893 تولید شده است .

داشتن یک چرخ کمتر در جلوی خودرو باعث شده است کنترل و هدایت ماشین به سختی انجام بگیرد . زیرا کمبود یه چرخ در جلو به کاهش توانایی فرد در کنترل خودرو و افزایش ناپایداری هدایتی منجر می شود . وجود این نقص بزرگ در این گروه از خودروها باغث شده است تا مورد توجه زیادی قرار نگیرد اما مدل دوم یعنی مدل هایی مثل V13R که دارای 2 چرخ در جلو میباشند طرفداران زیادی دارند . طراحان اتومبیل به این گروه از دسته Tri-Car توجه بیشتری نشان می دهند . وجود دو چرخ در جلو و یک چرخ باعث میشود فرم کلی خودرو به شکل یک قطره آب بشود . در حقیقت این ساختار قطره مانند طوری است که در مقابل باد کمترین ایستادگی را داشته باشد و به این ترتیب ، مصرف سوخت را با کاهش مقاوت باد پائین می آورد.نکته ی دیگر اینکه ، وجود یک چرخ کمتر در خودرو باعث مصرف سوخت بیشتری می شود . زیرا مسئله ای به نام پایداری در چرخش را کاهش می دهد .

Краткая историческая справка - Lexus является подразделением компании Toyota, образованным в 1989 году для того, чтобы отобрать часть рынка "представительских" и дорогих автомобилей у доминирующих на этом самом рынке немецких брендов (Opel в их число, разумеется, не входит).
Поначалу, из-за явного кризиса самоидентификации, особого успеха не было, но, со временем, бренд "распробовали" те, кто искал на рынке что-то, что отличалось бы от привычных "мерсов" и "бэх", и, потихоньку, компания начала завоевывать рынок.

Если добавить к этому еще и непревзойденный уровень дилерского обслуживания и качества сборки (а Lexus неизменно оказывается на первых местах в любых английских таблицах по качеству, надежности и т.п.), то успех неминуем, так?

А вот и нет. Дело в том, что, до недавнего времени, Lexus рассматривался, в основном, как "второй кандидат" на покупку, но никак уж не первый. Основная проблема заключалась в том, что у компании не было своего лица, да еще и на некоторых рынках, под этим брендом предлагались обычные Toyota, пусть и из верхней части линейки. Однако, с выпуском новой серии GS, а также IS (который, кстати сказать, больше похож на BMW, чем сами BMW), ситуация поменялась и продажи пошли вверх. Кроме того, на мельницу Lexus старательно (хотя и сами не осознавая этого) льют воду экологи, укоренив в сознании потребителя (и, что боле важно, политиков) мысль о том, что гибрид - это круто, экологично и ваще. Так, например, гибридные Lexus освобождены от уплата эконалога на въезд в Лондон. Если владельцу какого-нибудь Renault Clio надо заплатить 8 фунтов в день за привилегию покататься по Oxford street, то водитель Lexus GS450h этого делать не должен, хотя его машина намного более "вредная" с точки зрения экологии и классовой борьбы.

Ну, да черт с ними, с экологами, лучше посмотрим на то, что же предложит нам Lexus в следующие два года. А предложить есть что. Как ясно из заголовка к посту, компания берет курс на гибридизацию всего и вся, начиная с RX и заканчивая неким SAI. Все машины получат гибридный привод (рано или поздно). Тут, кстати, самое время встать в позу и заорать что-то в стиле "Тойота - где обещанный Alessandro Volta Hybrid, а?":

Но, поскольку эта машина осталась лишь концептом, посмотрим на то, что предложат нам в реальной жизни.

В России и Штатах, скорее всего, они продаваться все-таки будут, принимая во внимание низкие цены на бензин. Так вот, о шансах - они отличные, машина вполне способна создать головную боль у маркетологов BMW и Audi.

А что будет еще? По слухам, в 2009 году будет анонсирован Lexus SAI, который, фактически, будет представлять собой вариант на тему Concept X:

Как именно он будет выглядеть - неясно. Так что просьба воспринимать эту картинку с большим скептицизмом. Как утверждают источники журнала Car, гибридная система у SAI будет очень похожа на ту, что используется в Prius, но вместо 1.5л двигателя у последнего, в SAI будет установлен 2.5л от IS.

Кроме того, SC430 будет тихо похоронен и ему на смену (году так в 2012) придет CC (тоже с гибридным приводом). Поскольку CC базируется на платформе нового IS (да-да, гибрид и все такое), то с выпуском придется подождать, пока новый гибридный IS не укоренится на сборочных площадках.

Well, if you have been following this blog, most of the pictures you will have seen of my KP are of it in bits spread across my driveway. What can I say, I like taking things apart. Anyway, as the car has been in one piece for a couple of weeks and is running well, I took the chance to get out for a play with my camera and enjoy the UK sunshine (yes we do get a little!). Enjoy!

2010 BMW Z4 as Hard-Top Convertible. See the "Ring-Race" Spy Video

Spy Video News and Auto Media caught a nimble, camouflaged Roadster rushing with roaring engine noise and screaming rubber on asphalt. It is the heavily disguised BMW Z4 Roadster, and as it seems to be a Hard-Top Convertible for the model year 2010. At the end of the video, they are also "still" photos shot from different angles. When you compare the photos to the one BMW Z4 rendering I had posted earlier, it looks like that the artist is right on. What do you think? Is this a convertible/roadster you would consider as well? Or is the Porsche Boxster still the #1, number one, numero uno in this competitive segment?

Non solo utilitarie: ora anche i vip avranno la loro auto verde. Ovviamente in versione superlusso. E' finalmente in vendita la supercar elettrica della casa automobilistica con sede a San Carlos nella Silicon Valley. E c'è da scommettere che il successo sarà planetario: la Tesla Roadster, dopo il debutto al salone di Londra, ha infatti già conquistato una lunga schiera di fan, tra cui il governatore della California Arnold Schwarzenegger.

Il gioiellino Usa unisce infatti un'estetica tipica delle auto sportive di lusso e prestazioni ividiabili al rispetto dell'ambiente, tanto in voga in questi tempi soprattutto tra le star.

Da oggi Tesla Roadster è nei concessionari americani e europei, in vendita alla modica cifra di 99mila euro (più Iva) nel Vecchio Continente e di 'solo' 109mila dollari Oltreoceano.

I've been intending to post some photographs of the £10 Chiltern for a while now and have finally decided not to wait until I refit the chainguard...

Since this bicycle is intended for daily riding around town, I've not invested too much time or money into it. Most of the components are reclaimed or recycled. The mudguards, rear rack and wheel reflectors (I managed to resist using the Unholy Spoke Reflectors) came from my project box. The brake calipers, front wheel and both tyres and tubes are reclaimed from the Traveller. I'll be replacing the (ahem) 30-year-old Raleigh Record tyres with a pair of Schwalbe puncture-proof white-walls soon... The Zefal pump is new - with an adapter to suit the Woods valves - and cost a measly £3.49.

The dental white grips are actually a Shimano 333 3-speed shifter set I picked up as NOS on Ebuy for less than the price of a new cable. Unfortunately I still need a new cable as the Shimano part is a bit short for this frame. However, they shift nicely and adapting the Shimano 333 cable to fit the Sturmey Archer hub only involved snipping off the cable nipple and clamping on a late model SA adjusting barrel.

The saddle - previously on the Superbe - is actually a little low for comfort but I've been too lazy to adjust it yet. I've got two vintage leather saddles to choose from and haven't yet decided which suits the bicycle best. The rear luggage is an ancient reclaimed Carradice Club bag. I need to get some white polish on the leather straps...

Total cost? Excluding paint and other workshop consumables? Probably around £30...

OK...£30 and a pair of jeans that I spilled paraffin over. Anyone really know how to get the smell of paraffin out of clothing? They've been machine-washed twice and left hanging out on the drying line for a week through two torrential downpours! They still stink...

Though the G-Power bodykit for the BMW Z4 is stunning; look at the cool front bumper with double foglamps on each side,Sweet looking side skirts,sporty rear bumper with quad exhaust pipes;their main concern is the engine. G-Power has no difficulties of making a very fast BMW, since they hold the record of modifying the world's fastest street legal BMW using the M5, so they're easily extract the engine output into 375 Bhp and 420 Nm of torque. The Z4's engine can produce this massive power because G-Power used ASA T1-12 supercharger and upgrade the engine's ECU. So eventhough they use big 20" rims, the ZA manage to get from 0-60 Mph in just 4.9 seconds! To stop all the power, G-Power also provides 8 pistons calipers and 380 mm discs.

What's not to love on Mazda MX5? This lightweight roadster has good handling, sporty looks and it's very practical. But still, we want it to be better. We want it to looks better. So. do you want to make your MX5 to get more aggressive looking? Try this bodykit from Autoexe, the Mazda tuner specialist, which got a big air intakes in the front bumper just like other big racing car.On the side there are fat side skirts tomatch the big bulky front spoiler. At the back, there's also a fat trunk spoiler and also fat full rear bumper. Overall, these fat bodykit makes the MX5 looks,umm.....fat.....but in a good way guys. Because to makes the car looks better, they put bigger 5 spokes wheels. And that's not all, to give the MX5 a greater balance, they also provide it with sports suspension system, sports stabilizer, strut tower bar, floor cross bar, and member brace set. On the engine, they have new ram air intake and muffler. To stop the car at closer distance, they fitted some sports brake pad and brake line. And to hold your body when you are doing drift, Autoexe put Recaro bucket seats.
