Here's how it is done...

The 'end of financial year' sales are in full swing here in Oz. Today, to complete my training, I braved the great unwashed to track down bargains that are so good I have taken pictures and posted them here -

  My trick is to go in with a focussed mind - you are just looking for wardrobe additions - so usually that means tops and cardies. Head straight to womenswear, start at the first aisle and walk up and down each aisle methodically. You are looking for colours that catch your eye. When something does catch your eye, first check it is available in your size, you can usually go one size up - cheap stores are stingy with the material. Next evaluate the colour further - is the print or pattern attractive?

Next check the label, because of the target audience all items are very likely to be machine washable, but best to check. Does the material feel nice? Would you be happy to wear it? It's important to think about this because you must not, under any circumstances, try on clothes in a cut price store's fitting room. (Harsh lighting, fattening dirty mirrors, ugly carpet, used tissues, used needles...oh I've been there and it's not pretty)

Today I found the above crushed effect teal blue floral print shirt, with matching cardy, plus a stretch cotton red shirt - total price for all three? Less than $65 dollars! Once purchased, I headed accross the mall to the up-market department store and, taking in one a rather more expensive item, tried them on in the luxury fitting rooms. This strategy allows you to return your mistakes immediately, if necessary, but in this case I was delighted to find they all had quite a flattering fit.

 I have been complimented on all these items already, I always admit where I found my bargains and people are always impressed! If you have any other tips for cut price style, please share!
