Adesso è' ufficiale l'Ozzfest 2008 si terrà in un solo giorno,l'evento avrà luogo al Pizza Hut Park di Dallas (Texas) sabato 9 Agosto 2008. Gli headliner saranno Ozzy Osbourne, Serj Tankian e i Metallica.

Il festival sarà diviso in 3 stage dove si esibiranno più di 10 band durante tutta la manifestazione

Okay, so I have to admit, I'm a little bummed.  I'm not a die-hard heavy metal fan, but I do love Ozzfest.  Strange, huh?  But this year, instead of touring, they have decided to make the summer's biggest metal concert a one day event. WTF is right!!  The event is to take place in Dallas' Pizza Hut Park on August 9.

But there is good news still.  Metallica and Ozzy Osbourne himself, have signed on to headline the day along with 13 other bands, including, Korn's Jonathan Davis, Apocalyptica, and hell no Hellyeah.  There will be a third stage featuring local metal bands as well, so I'm sure it'll be ONE great night.  But just one.

Oh, yeah... and Serj Tankian from System of a Down will be there.  He's my new husband hot! And System of a Down is awesome, too!

The reason for the mini-Ozzfest is the 11-month world tour Ozzy has just recently wrapped.  Apparently Mr. Ozzfest needs a little break. 

Stop being a baby, Ozzy.  One night is clearly not enough for all those bat beheading Ozzy lovers out there.

La capacidad de composición de Tankian es espectacular, y aunque en muchos aspectos el disco parece "sonar" a System Of A Down, al mismo tiempo tiene una originalidad. El piano es uno de estos elementos... Instrumento que no aparece en toda la discografia de System y que en Elect The Head es tocado brillantemente por Tankian.

Es muy amplio en sonido - Muchos instrumentos de sonidos diferentes. La emoción que tuve al hacer este disco fue la misma que tuve al realizar el primer disco de System.

Serj Tankian

Tankian fue elegido como uno de los mejores vocalistas del metal, y en su trabajo solista de verdad que se luce. No solo eso, la lirica de las canciones tiene una "agresividad" política bastante notable y que ya hemos notado en sus trabajos previos en System como Boom!. "The Unthinking Majority" junto con "Empty Walls" son excelentes ejemplos de esto. "Sky Is Over" es una excelente power ballad y "Praise The Lord and Pass The Ammunition" es un tema que recuerda al estilo de Fantômas.

I System Of A Down si sono sciolti circa 8 mesi fà ma non del tutto è probabile che fra qualche anno ne risentiremo parlare, al momento Serj Tankian(ex voce dei S.O.A.D) ha concluso un suo progetto solista attraverso l'album "Elect the Dead"(a mio parere fatto davvero bene con i tempi ke corrono), che aveva in mente da anni, e collabora con i Deftones. Malakian & Dolmayan (chitarra e batteria), hanno formato un nuovo gruppo gli "Scars On Brodway"!

Quindi meglio la carriera da solisti o riunire il gruppo come ai vecchi tempi?

I would have seen more at V but it rained on Saturday meaning we ended up drinking FAR too much Lilt with vodka and so we went to bed while Kasabian were on the stage.  Rock n roll.

Después de un día muy ajetreado, por fin llega la noche aunque todavía quedan unas horas para irse a acostar. Hoy el blog cumple 1 semana y este mismo día se ha alcanzado el record de visitas para alcanzar un total de 107 ya. Muchísimas gracias a todos de verdad, sin vosotros nada de esto habría sido posible. Ni en mis mejores sueños había pensado que me saldría esto tan bien, pero hay que mantenerlo y para ello seguiré trabajando humildemente como siempre intentando traeros lo más interesante que encuentre por Internet y lo que no es la red.

La canción de hoy viene de la mano del ex-vocalista de System Of A Down, Serj Tankian, el cual sacó hace unos pocos meses su primer album de debut en solitario (llamado "Elect The Dead") y que os recomiendo que le echéis unas cuantas oídas porque no os defraudará.

If you didn’t know Serj Tankian is the lead singer in the band “System of a Down”.

Anyway, his website looks pretty cool and has snippets of the album playing in the background so you’ll know if you like his music or not.

You can also watch the full music videos for most of the songs on the album. I really like the “Sky is Over” the most so far.

I love the website background – you just have to check it out to see what I’m on about.

I also like Serj’s new look. I always liked Serj’s look, but his new look is particularly cool, I think.

I have to say: he’s crazy! His show was acutally quite good - specially with only one record in his bag and he did not play one song from SoaD. He is crazy! His whole appearance (he wore a topper), his movements (sometimes, he jumped around like a Teletubie), his gestures, his eyes... I really adore his voice! It's great how he can sing in every pitch with this special strenght and it's so recognisable. Master of Disaster! In comparison to the songs of SoaD, you can hear the clear influence of his Iran origin. But nevertheless, the songs are strong and you just have to jump around. I adore the high musical level and all these rhythm changes. He's a crazy songwriter. We used to ask each other, my friend and I, how the band does so they know where in the song they are and how they manage not to get lost. Only thing that bothered me a little was the one singing the backing vocals. He was much too loud and his voice was not that great. I think that's where the strenght of SoaD lies - these multi-voices lines...

Serj Tankian is crazy! But he's kind of that crazy that he appeared to me to be probably the most normal person in the whole hall...

Simples, como os integrantes estão muito ocupados com os projetos paralelos, eles decidiram fazer uma "Turnê Virtual". O objetivo disso?

Serj Tankian diz que é para reduzir a emissão de carbono no meio-ambiente.

A idéia até que é legal: A banda tocaria em locais fechados e os fãs assistiriam às apresentações, produzidas em 3-D, em seus computadores.

E Serj diz mais: "Seria como abrir um mundo totalmente novo. Os concertos não ficariam limitados a casas de shows ou clubes. Não haveria custos de viagem, então bandas com poucos recursos poderiam fazer mais shows, e os ingressos seriam mais baratos.”

Depois de ler tudo isso, você se pergunta: "Qual vai ser a graça de assistir no computador um show em 3D ?"

Quem é fã tende a concordar comigo agora, é mais prazeroso pagar e viajar, durmi na porta do local para pegar o melhor ponto pra avistá-los de perto, do que ficar em casa vendo showzinho 3D, e tendo que deixar o volume baixo porque seu pai ou mãe não gostam do que você ouve, e sem falar na falta de emoção que vai ter de sentir o público cantar as músicas, os improvisos, a agitação, a emoção assim que sobem no palco, enfim...Não haverá graça alguma ¬¬".

Melhor eles continuarem com os projetos paralelos do que fazer isso com os fãs. u.u"

A 2008-as Sziget Fesztiválon koncertezik majd Serj Tankian, az egykori System of a Down frontembere, az Elect the Dead szólóalbum elkövetője.

I attended the SxSw three ring circus, which has expanded to an 8 ring cirque de soleil of hyped hyphy drunk proportions. I took part in the Eastsport media lounge where Vlaze teamed up with Urb magazine, Girlie Action pr, VH-1 Classics and several sponsors. The bands would come in and get some food drink and swag, and then do a sit down interview with yours truly.

Big ups to Jessica and the lovely people at Girlie Action, Josh G. my media mafia partner from Urb Magazine, and Skull Candy who graced my golden head with new pink headphones. I already had a pair of white Skull Candy cans that I use on air at Little Radio, so don't get all bent out of shape because I have girlish Barbie colored ones now. I can spin vinyl in any color headphones...I'm just that damn talented.

I was so busy working and doing interviews this year, that I unfortunately didn't get to catch many shows. I have to say, though, that the Body Of War show was amazing. It was the only 'showcase' that wasn't about self promotion, but about a cause. Check out more about the film here.

So I don't have as many pictures this year, but the ones I do are behind the scenes, side stage or right up front. Quality over quantity, I say.
