Note the blue nylon pouch -- that's where his tags lived when he was a young pup. It definitely eliminated the jingles! Plus, he could use it to carry his cigarettes.

An update to the Cardona Valley Gondola article: The Cardrona Valley developer has now received resource consent to build a $17 million, 3880m-long gondola from the valley floor up to the Snow Farm and Snow Park resorts.

This will make the ski areas more appealing to overseas tourists and would bring a European style gondola-and-ski dimension to New Zealand.

At 3880m, the gondola will be the first to a skifield in New Zealand. It will be more than five times longer than Queenstown's Skyline Gondola and will rise 965 vertical metres, compared with Skyline's 450m.

Combined with the planned new ski area next to Snow Park the two new projects, when operating through winter, could together create 300 jobs.

There are also plans to build a $20 million gondola to service Treble Cone.

A planned gondola from the Cardrona Valley to the Snow Park & Snow Farm ski resorts is expected

A planned gondola from the Cardrona Valley to the Snow Park & Snow Farm ski resorts is expected to have approval in the next few days. The $16.6 million gondola would pave the way for Queenstown Lake District's first new downhill ski area in 20 years.

Cardrona Valley's Lee family, which is behind the gondola proposal and runs Snow Farm and Snow Park, have plans for a $120m development of a 300ha area on the Pisa Range, including a new downhill skifield and on-site accommodation for up to 2000 people.

They hoped the gondola would be built within six years. The gondola, as proposed, would easily cope with the 50,000 visitors attracted to Snow Park and Snow Farm each winter season, he said.

I am finally getting caught up! Yesterday all I had time for was a quick post just before I went to bed. However, yesterday was a very full day.

First off, it snowed again which made it very cold. Found out later that places like Cuchara got nearly 10 inches of snow. Brrrr! On the 15th of May no less!

Plus, around 5am, Stella started having kittens. By around 7am, she had four little tabbies and one black kitten. She looks to be a very good mom. :> Oh, and Beth was ill with some sort of stomach bug which caused havoc for her. I took her some gatorades and crackers while Dan headed to Aguilar for two jobs. I did some banking and then headed out to pick up Matt and Morgan who went on an all school rollerskating trip to Pueblo. They had a lot of fun in spite of the cold. I brought them back to the office because Beth was sick. They were going to spend the night here.

While we waited for Dan to get home, Erin, Morgan and Logan showed up. With a bit of convincing, they went to the store and I made steak and potato pie for dinner. Half way through cooking, Dan got home. He'd forgotten a part and had to come back here for it.

We ate and cleaned up just in time for Dan to get home. He was too tired to eat so I saved his share for lunch. Around 9:30pm, Erin and family headed home. Morgan and Matt went to bed and Dan and I finally had a little time to work out some things for today. Oh, and I wrote the first episode of Digitally Challenged.

This morning at 9am, my sister Pauline showed up. She had just come from a job interview and needed a cuppa tea to relax. We all chatted and then I went with her to her house and picked up chairs and a desk. Daniel was suppose to go with her out to Mike's to unload the bus, but friends of his kidnapped him to buck bales of hay. Pauline left about 30 minutes before they got here. I gave them directions and out they went. With three young men, it only took an hour to move everything. I even got two more chairs out of the deal. :) Wow! We now have places to sit that aren't desk chairs.

We are suppose to have a business meeting in about 15 minutes. Erin, Karen, Carlos, Dan and I. A first! :)

I also took pictures of our furbaby. Brandywine came home today from training. Wheeee!

More later!

It's the first of March 1906: thirteen men are ready to race from St. Moritz to Chamfèr, on a 9,950 m stretch, pulled along on skis by their horses. The first White Turf has just begun and the discipline of skijoring too. The year after, the competition moves to the frozen lake, with the addition of trotting races with sleds. The St. Moritz Racing Association - founded by the initiators - programs six competitions. Spectators are more than happy to have the chance to bet at the tote. In 1911 flat racing is added to the program and in 1922 steeplechasing is too.

With 2WW there is an interruption to the White Turf races, which are relaunched in 1952 and - by the beginning of the Nineties - the meeting becomes a modern day happening, a sporting event that's worldwide famous, attracting competitors and public from all around the world, for three unforgettable and exclusive days, that even stage a race which boasts the highest prize money for a race in Switzerland: 111,111 CHF.

You can view the outstanding panorama by Werner Weber freezing the action in VRMag's article.

New York City Sucks!!!

I’m sick of people telling me New York City is soooo “cool

New York City Sucks!!!

I'm sick of people telling me New York City is soooo "cool". This has got to end. New York City is completely over rated. But for some reason anytime New York comes up in a conversation everyone goes crazy with stories of how "awesome", "cool", or "cultured" it is. These people "just love them some New York". They can never get enough. People will bore you to death with their stories of how fabulous their last trip was. How they just loved the "Opera", or "Museums", "Art Galleries", "Cafes", or "Resturants". They talk as if NYC has a monopoly on everything cool and cultured. Yet as someone that has lived and worked in New York I can honestly say it really "SUCKS". What I can't understand is how the city ever got such a positive reputation. O.K. New York is a huge city, and has a little bit of everything/everyone. And it has seen a drop in crime the last decade. And you don't always fear for your life riding the subway or out at night these days. But trouble does still finds you in NY whether you like it of not. Just minding your own business in NY can
still get you mugged, stabbed, or shot in any part of the city.

If you really want to know about New York talk to someone that grew up there and now lives where you live. Ask them why did you move? Grill them on it. Don't let them off easy if they begin with the "NYC is great" routine. They will break. Trust me they will and when they sense that you know the truth and they can't Bulls--t you any longer they WILL let loose with NYC hatin' vemon.

You see New Yorkers secretly hate NYC. But are more than willing to ride the bandwagon and reap the benefits that go along with everyone else in the country lovin it. Inside they are thinking what a "SAP" you are for thinking the dump of a city they grew up in is C & C or "cool" and "cultured". I know guys that get LAID for just saying they are from NYC.

Don't be this guy. But he's on to something.

If you really want to earn a New Yorkers respect talk "SHIT" about their city. Take note that this is best done outside NYC and to New Yorkers that have moved. Don't insult NYC within the city limits or to people that can't form full sentences, or use the word "YO". And for Non New Yorkers let it all spill out. Don't let up. And as soon as the conversation begins look them straight in eye and say "What are you crazy? NYC SUCKS". If they don't back down then find a New Yorker in the room and have them join your side.

Here are some topics you might want to bring to the debate.

1. The weather. Nuff said. Well, maybe not. Who wants to live in snow or wants humid hot summers. NYC has maybe 2 weeks out the year that are nice. One in the spring and one in the fall. Every other time stinks.

2. Too many people. The subway is fast, and convienet but not during rush hour. During these hours you are packed in like Sardines. Which wouldn't be so bad but not everyone has the same hygine standards nor amorous impulses, nor self control. Mind the urine in the seats on the subway. Or the perverts grabbing body parts if you are a woman. Elevators, Starbucks, Bagel & Sandwich shops also SUCK during rush hour. Expect to wait in a long LINE.

3. Bathrooms. None. For such a big city where are all the bathrooms. Upon visiting a new neighborhood in NYC the first thing I would do is find out where I could relieve myself if I had to. Whether that was an alley, a park, or a restaurant. Didn't matter!!!

4. Rude People. People are rude in NYC. Just plain ASSH--ES sometimes. Probable because of #2. Non New Yorkers think this is C & C. But NYers know the truth. Some move just to get away from this.

5. Too many stupid people. Stupid is fine in most places e.g. the south, strip clubs, or even san diego, but in NYC you add violence. This is a bad combo. Hence Guidos. There's no debating or reasoning with these people. They will split your skull in a NY minute over the most trivial of topics. Sports, Pizza, Music even First Names. I dare you to walk into any Pizzeria in Staten Island and say "A-Rod is better than Jeter". In a city full of "culture" there are a lot of stupid, rude violent people.

6. Status. Status is everything in NYC. If you are poor you hang with poor. If you are rich you hang with rich. If not you are a poser. No exceptions. Same goes for Eastside v Westside, Uptown v Downtown. Manhattan v Jersey, e.g.

7. Rats. I dare you to walk past a Sabaro at night and kick the garbage bags out front. Also Roaches, Dirt, and Trash. But still a great city. Right???

8. Too expensive. "What am I paying for." This is what NYers ask themselves all day and night. The food, drinks, apartments, taxis all cost too much. And plus everyone has their hands out for a tip. Waiters, Bartenders, and Taxi are O.K. But bathroom attendants & doormen? What? Just do your job. But you end up tipping them also.

9. Racism. Its practically Institutionalized in NYC. "Old School" racism?. Its soooo open in NYC thats its not even "OLD SCHOOL". Its in your face always. People "add you up" in a split second and its a struggle to get good service and treat you well ( see #4, #5, #6) that its not even worth it. So if you are a person of color expect to be treated like crap unless they find out you have $money$. Then the service MAY change because they want a nice $tip$.

Geting a Taxi. Its no joke for blacks. You won't get one. And if the driver momentarily forgets his racist nature and stops anyway. Don't grab the handle because the driver will come to his senses and drive off with your arm. My advice get a Metro Card.

This is a template you can use to make your own deck of playing cards through my Heritage Makers business www.Family-Tales.com. You insert the photos of the people you love, or your dog, Harley, Classic car, whatever you wish and customize your deck of cards. Makes a perfect Father's Day gift!

It is a basic card set that can be used to play Rook (or Phase 10 ... which only uses numbers 1-12, 4 wild cards, and 5 skip cards ... kind of like rummy).

Use these cards to play "Scum" or "President" (you can find directions on the internet) Sooooo easy to play, even the little kids can keep up! (and usually win! lol!)

You could also play "go fish" or almost any other card game .... you would just be using all numbers

There are four colors (instead of suits), and 2 wild cards.

In which our heroine manages to get everything she wanted, and isn't happy.

Bella finds that with Edward Cullen(the pretty and pasty boy who reacted oddly to her in science class) now gone, life in Forks is now wonderful. She has several boys competing for her attention, a clique seems to have formed around her, and she is settling into her new life.

Except for the snow. Because she must have something to complain about, Belle finds that snow sucks even worse than rain. Oh, also their library is too small. Poor girl.

Limited character development and exposition, just setting things up for the next chapter.

I wouldn't use an umbrella if it was raining lightly or if it was really hot and I wanted to cool off. For me it's a luxury item which gets flaunted when absolutely needed, or when it really goes with my outfit, or as an essential part of a dance routine...

7 deg C & cloudy, but fine because Zenit won the UEFA cup

It's probably good that I'm in a hurry these days - posts are short because time passes way too quickly (especially when having a "nanna nap" during the day!) here.

I have some photos taken when it was snowing yesterday, and some streetscapes of a part of Saint Petersburg. I'm not deliberately showing the old buildings as "ugly" - rather as a point of difference to my experience in Australia and other western countries.

[gallery]

Oh, almost forgot - I have a confirmed (as far as that means anything these days!) date of return - 2nd June to Melbourne.

A few weeks ago I posted those first images from the John Malkovich animation, well the final film has just been finished and oh my, it's rather wonderful.

The project was for Sony Vaio, we asked the ever brilliant Malkovich to write the first scene to a script and then asked everyone else to collaborate on the following scenes. We got tonnes of submissions from some amazing people, everyone from hairdressers through to professional script writers. Malkovich chose his favourite each month, from which everyone then wrote the following scene. We carried on like this until we had the finished script. The whole thing together is rather surreal, as you'd expect, but I love how it's worked out. The final film is so kooky, and a little bit creepy!

I'm dead pleased that we managed to get it made into a film, it's so nice for all the winners of the project to get something like that back for all their hard work.

So, with a big trumpet fanfare, here is Snow Angel...
