So lets begin first with battery.

Battery:
For a handset like E66, which is so slim, I was left wondering what would the dimensions of the battery be, which one were they using? I was stunned to see such a slim Nokia battery. Things have sure come a long way since the BL5C. The BL-4U is thin (anorexic almost). Rated at 1000mAh, Nokia says that this Li-ion cell will keep you phone on standby for upto 336 hours (WCDMA) and give you a talk time of 7.5 hours (GSM). Indeed those are very respectable figures coming from a smartphone. In the real world how does it perform, well I just about managed to squeeze about 3.5 days from one charge. This involved about 2 hours of phone calls, 10-15 minutes of daily wifi usage, tinkering around with the phone (light and sound settings), sending a few messages and a little bit of photography. Those are quite impressive figures for the phone. I am sure heavy users can easily get a whole days worth of juice from that 'anorexic' battery. I must say, for a slim phone those are rather great figures. On this account I would give the phone a score of 8.1/10.

Software:
The S60 has come a long way from the 7650. Today it is one of the most widely used OSes in the world. The S60 UI on the E66 is very different than the UI found that you would get to see on a N series or a regular phone. The UI in the E66 has very smooth transitions. I was amazed with the how fluidly the system would go from one part of the menu to the other. I did not find that kind of smoothness in the N82 I am using currently. The ASR feature is also very smooth in execution. For once, I thought that these were the FP2 transitions! but the fact is that it is only FP1. Lets a look at the menu from the beginning... first the icon pack used, A lot of people have written negative things about the icons used for the E66 and the E71. My take - is that they could have used a different icon pack (even another colour of the icons would do), though I don't hate these icons, I don't like 'em either. I would have liked to see a completely different icon pack (not even the regular N series ones either). Also an interesting I noticed was that if you were to create a new folder, the colour would be blue instead of grey.
Secondly, the Active Standby screen, The Active Standby screen is completely different on the E series. Firstly there are little 'bubbles' on the screen which tell you about any voicemails, messages and missed calls. Each of these alerts are shown in a different 'bubble'. This is basically like the huge notifications that remain on our N series phones until we check them or we cancel them. Over here the functionality is greater, not only do they occupy small portions of the screen, highlighting them lets you navigate within the bubbles (without leaving the Active Standby) for extra options like 'making a voice call', 'sending a text message', 'sending a MMS', 'sending an Audio message' for each entry. My only question is? When are we getting it on the N series???
Third, the 'Switch Mode' functionality. I absolutely love this feature on the E66. You can also disable applications within the modes, allowing for a clear separation of business life and personal life. Very nicely executed. Just one grouse, couldn't we have it as a combination of keys instead of having an icon placed on the Active Standby? Moving ahead lets look at the 'Contacts', here again there is a change, by clicking in the right against an entry, you are no longer directed to a group, but instead you are directed towards options regarding that entry, which is mentioned above for the notification 'bubbles'.
In terms of 'out of the box' experience, I found the phone to be ready for use. A business user will have all the softwares he needs, though Quickoffice might have to be purchased. Apart from that there are many softwares like the 'Multiscanner' which is a business card reader come text converter. 'Solitaire' for the card players, 'WiPresenter' from Psiloc(trial only), 'Advance Call Manager' which allows you to manage which calls are to be received and how are others to be treated. I haven't been able to extensively test it as I don't get those many calls on that number in the phone. But the little bit that I did use it, I found it to be an absolutely must, It could be a great way to have those pesky promo calls from the network operator no disturb you. You could allow the phone to notify you only when people from your phonebook call you or only when a certain amount of people within your phonebook call you. I wish this were a part of S60 and not an add on. 'We:offset' is alo another great software, about which I have written in a previous post. Unfortunately I haven't used it. Other softwares include 'SkyeQuiKey', 'Mobile Magnifier' and more. The phone is also different in many ways from a standard S60 phone and N series phones. There are settings which can be put for using the intranet. A dictionary comes inbuilt with the phone, one only has to download the conversion packs, the default one is English-English. Now why can't a N series have this?

The calendar also has received updates, now one can see the entries alongside the calendar. The phone allows the 'phone memory' and the 'memory card' to be encrypted. But the biggest change is how one accesses the phonebook to make a call. No longer does one have to go to the phonebook, scroll for the name, select it and make a call. Now all you need to do is type (using T9) the name on the Active Standby screen. So if you want to call or message, lets say Joe, you would just hit 5,6,3 and voila Joe's entry would show and highlighting it would give you the options. This is something that S60 has not had, especially since Windows Mobile has it. This is one thing which needs to be implemented across the S60 range. The other innovative things can wait, this one can't. Simply because its not only the business user who is multi-tasking in this day and age, everybody is!
On Software I would give it a 9.5/10. The only reason I have not given it a perfect 10 is because there is a lot more that the S60 platform can achieve.

Music:
Lets move on to the one aspect of the phone which a lot of people will use in the phone, Music. The music player is the same that you find in any S60 third edition device. There is nothing different here except for the fact that there are no visualizations. Although you do have an option of showing 'Now Playing' as a screensaver. I found the E66 music qualities to be mediocre. Nothing great if you ask me. It is built as a business device and hence there is little attention given to the music capabilities. I wish that had not been the case. The music player application which supports so many formats could be used by a business man/woman for playing an audio file which might be the need fo the hour, now if it was a crowded place where it was to be done, imagine what a bad impression it would put on the owner of the phone. Seriously, Nokia making a phone this stylish and smart, but not giving it good audio hardware is really a deal-breaker. This one the most sore points in the E66. I would give this aspect a 5.5/10. This department really needs to be looked into and pronto!

A national study in the US has concluded that computer games foster social interaction and civic engagement and that there was no evidence that they incited users to violence.

The study released on Wednesday by the Pew Internet & American Life Project found that nearly all teens play video games and that their games' activity has become a major component of their overall social experience.

"This report does a lot of myth-busting," said Amanda Lenhart, the Pew senior researcher who authored the study. "It's not just about 14-year-old boys sitting alone in the basement blowing things up."

The most surprising finding of the study was how all-encompassing video games are today, Lenhart said.

"We don't see economic inequalities, we don't see racial differences," she said. "We see are some slight variations by gender and by age, but that's about it."

The report said it was "the first large-scale study to examine the relationship between specific gaming experiences and civic outcomes."

"For most teens, gaming is a social activity and a major component of their overall social experience. 65 per cent of game-playing teens play with other people who are in the room with them," according to the study.

The study said 99 per cent of boys and 94 per cent of girls played video games, while 90 per cent of parents said they played video games with their children. The figures were no doubt boosted by the incredible success of Nintendo's Wi video game console, and also by the spread of casual online gaming, in which users can play quick and simple games online.

The study noted that the most popular game played by US teens was Guitar Hero, in which users play a plastic guitar device by hitting correct note sequences of songs. The other most popular games were Halo 3, Madden NFL, Solitaire, and Dance Dance Revolution.

The Pew report is based on a telephone survey of 1,102 teenagers in the ages of 12 to 17 between November 1 and February 5. The margin of error is plus or minus three percentage points.

The series revamp features a new Prince with a new art style, as well as new gameplay mechanics. Every year, the Entertainment Software Association updates its industry facts and figures to underline just how widespread gaming is in the United States. According to this year's update, 65 percent of American households play games. That number will likely skyrocket in the coming years if a newly released Pew Internet Project report is anything to go by. Researchers recently surveyed 1,102 teenagers and found that 97 percent of those aged 12-17 played video games in some form, with 99 percent of boys responding affirmatively, compared to 94 percent of girls. There are a lot of frequent players as well, as half of the respondents said they'd played games in the past day. As one might expect, the tastes of those 97 percent of teens who game are wide-ranging. Racing games had the most widespread popularity of any genre, with 74 percent of teens admitting to playing them. The puzzle genre was close behind with 72 percent, followed by sports (68 percent), action (67 percent), and adventure (66 percent). Interestingly, Rhythm games like Guitar Hero and Rock Band were played by just 61 percent of respondents, only slightly higher than the strategy genre, which includes hardcore gaming staples like Starcraft and Command and Conquer. However, when asked for three favorite titles, the most commonly responded titles were (in order) Guitar Hero, Halo 3, Madden NFL, Solitaire, and Dance Dance Revolution. The least popular genres listed were survival horror (32 percent), massively multiplayer online games (21 percent), and virtual worlds like Second Life or Habbo Hotel (10 percent). Pew also surveyed parents of teens to gauge their attitudes toward gaming, and found that most parents were actually ambivalent on gaming's impact on their kids. Some 62 percent of respondents said games didn't affect their kids, with 19 percent believing them to be a positive influence, and 13 percent considering them a negative influence. Just 5 percent of parents said gaming could be either positive or negative, depending on the game in question.

Flush with victory after learning that Guitar Hero had made us better than Metallica, we've already begun the hunt for our next conquest. Ahh, we see a challenger approaching through the mist, is that ... oh, crap, is that Jimi Hendrix? If Slash is to be believed, Activision is busy crafting an all-Hendrix version of the franchise to (presumably) follow up Guitar Hero World Tour. The mono-monikered musician told Rolling Stone, "Well, having the Aerosmith guys do it was very cool 'cause Aerosmith's one of the bands I was heavily influenced by. And Metallica's doing it, that's great. Those are two ones that I think gives it some credibility. And they're doing a Hendrix one, which is great." Assuming that this is one of the few times in life where the phrase, "if Slash is to be believed," is followed by a fact, we'll take this opportunity to remind you that setting plastic guitars on fire is a terrible, terrible idea.

EA has announced that its parkour, rebellion and delivery girl simulator, Mirror's Edge, will release November 11 for Xbox 360 and PS3. Giving credence to the rumors already floating around, the PC version of the game is now confirmed for "later in the winter." EA also confirmed that a demo will be available featuring "the tutorial" and a scene from the single-player campaign. Those who pre-order at "select retailers" after September 26 will receive a code that unlocks "Time Trial" in the demo. Hopefully, the game will be delivered on time watch the rooftops! Note that the pre-order incentive's staring date may not necessarily be the release date of the demo. Upon contacting EA for a specific date, Joystiq was told, "The pre-order initiative begins on September 26th and the demo will be out before the game ships, as the press release sent this morning states."

I am so excited about divulging this fantastic piece of information, that I don't know where to start! Firstly, I want to stress that this is NOT a gambling site, so if gambling is your bag then this may not be for you. It is games of skill only.

After using the free tickets I began to improve on certain games which I liked the best and was winning most of the games I played. It was then that I decided to purchase $10 worth of tickets and see where it got me.

Well, all I can say is I've never looked back. Everyday I play my favourite game for around 1 - 2 hours - each game last for about 2 minutes - and earn in the region of $35 per day (thats $1065 a month) sometimes more. Not only do I still enjoy playing the games and have fun, but I can watch my balance increase everyday and know that I will have a steady income.

The amount you can spend for each game ranges from $0.25 to $5.00 I started with the lower paid games then moved up when I started to win. Winnings are a percentage of the amount paid for the game so if you pay $1 and win the game then you will receive $1.70. Some games payout more than others.

It really is that simple and I still can't believe it today that I am earning an income PLAYING GAMES.


Steps for earning a reliable income are as follows:

1) Register with GameColony - this is totally free.

2) Play ONLY free games with the bonus tickets provided...until you find your game and become good at it (this will only take a few days) .

3) Purchase about $10 tickets - you can buy using paypal, neteller and credit cards.

4) Start with the lower paid games eg $1 until your balance and confidence increases.

5) Watch your balance grow.

What's more gamecolony gives you a bonus payment at the end of every month called frequent player credits for games played for $1 or over. I usually get around $27 (better than a kick in the backside!)

You can withdraw cash from your balance every 3 weeks. If you paid for your tickets by paypal, the earnings are deposited straight into your paypal account. If by card, then the earnings are put back on to the card.

If you are not winning 6 or 7 out of ten games when you have finished practising with the bonus tickets, I would advise that you keep practising on the free games until you do. This shouldn't be hard if you enjoy playing puzzle games. I am not an expert at anything in particular, nor am I a genious or anything else that would give me an advantage, I just really ENJOY playing puzzle games and put in the time to get good at a particular game.

If you have any problems you can contact the support team, they are at hand 24 hours a day and respond very quickly. I had queries answered within a couple of hours.

Okay, now I will give review of the game that I play right now, and it is The Quest Trio from Activision. The gameplay is similar to those Yahoo! Games, There are combination of Bejeweled, Mah Jong, and Solitaire. This has keep me hooked, beware !!

The game listed are as follow: Jewel Quest II, Jewel Quest Solitaire, and Mah Jong Quest.

The Quest Trio Jewel Quest II
Jewel Quest II plays exactly like Bejeweled, swapping tiles to form a match of three or more tiles. But it does have a new trick, the game needs you to change the board background to all gold colour. It works like this: First you swap and match the tiles to form a match then those matched tiles vanish leaving gold colour background. The games have a changing board size and you have to change the board background to all gold colour. After all changed to gold, that you're finished with the stage. And the next levels also the same rules but obviously it keeps getting harder.

The Quest Trio Jewel Solitaire
Jewel Quest Solitaire works like this: Combine Solitaire and Bejeweled from Jewel Quest II. First you play with the Solitaire, finishing the board by eliminating cards like traditional Solitaire rule. In those cards there is a jewel image and everytime you eliminate the card, the jewel is added to the board (soon to be our Bejeweled board). After you finished Solitaire, the game continue to the Bejeweled game, with rules the same as Jewel Quest II. Each level is the same gameplay and it is getting harder everytime.

The Quest Trio Mah Jong Quest
And lastly but not least, Mah Jong Quest. The gameplay is the same with the traditional Mah Jong game. But with an added twist. There are 2 pieces that needs to be cleared in order for you to finish the level, sometimes there are 3 pieces. Some more twist include a piece with a firecracker picture on it that lets you match a log, bamboo, and rock pieces; in a sense eliminating those pieces. And there is piece with a hot air balloon that can fly after you clear the piece on top of it. Lastly there are pieces of ice that will clear by itself if you clear the pieces around it. And maybe some more twist that I haven't encounter yet.

In summary, this is a GREAT game, it has those same element that you like on Bejeweled, Solitaire and Mah Jong and present you a new challenge with their own twist. Graphic are good in a sense that you can still see the picture clearly. And sound is top notch, clear music and sound. I give this a rating of 5/5.

I've been developing a game for the iPhone / iPod Touch for release on Apple's iTunes App Store. It's called Hiqup and it's a logic puzzler with the basic premise being the same as peg solitaire (jumping pegs to remove them from the board.) But there's a whole heap more to it than that including teleports, bombs, jumpers and blackholes. And there are several different types of board to play:

Pieces - Remove as many pieces as possible from the board.
Time - Complete the board in a given time limit
Special Spaces - Complete the board by ending up with pieces on the special marked spaces on the board.

The final version will have 40-50 different boards so there's plenty to tax the brain ) Each board has a gold, silver and bronze medal to achieve and you need to get a medal to open up the next level.

Plus there's a "Classic" mode with 10 different standard peg solitaire boards for those that want an original feel.
