Sorry guys for not updating everyone on what we found out at the specialist. We have talked to our families and told them the status but I did not realize so many people actually read the stuff on my blog.
We went to the specialist a week after we found out about the cyst and they did an "intense ultrasound" meaning they looked at every aspect of Keagan. They checked out his heart to make sure that all four chambers were working correctly. They looked at his kidneys. They checked out his hands, toes, face and all kinds of other stuff. The entire ultrasound took around 30-40 minutes and went great except for the fact that his feet look huge. He is going to be a linebacker at The University of __________ (Tennessee was in the blank but we are looking at our options after the Florida game)!!! The specialist said that the ultrasound was great and they found no other signs or attributes that would suggest Trisomy 18 or Trisomy 21 would even be a possibilty. We, then, went and talked to a counselor about our options and our family history. After she asked 10-15 questions about our family origin and history, her "professional opinion" was that there were less than a 1% chance that Keagan would have Trisomy 18 or Trisomy 21. With Trisomy 18 or Trisomy 21, there are always or 99% of the time other indicators such as clubbed foot or clinched fist and so on but in our case it was none of those, so we are really greatful and excited about our little miracle (until he starts poopin' and cryin').

One of options which we immediately declined was a amniocentesis, which is not 100% accurate. It is actually not even above 70% accurate. It can have false reading which would only create more stress, which would be bad for the baby anyways. I have pasted some information about the amniocentesis.

Amniocentesis (also referred to as amniotic fluid test or AFT), is a medical procedure used in prenatal diagnosis of genetic abnormalities and fetal infections [1], in which a small amount of amniotic fluid, which contains fetal tissues, is extracted from the amnion or amniotic sac surrounding a developing fetus, and the fetal DNA is examined for genetic abnormalities.

Procedure

Before the actual procedure, a local anesthetic is sometimes given to relieve the pain when inserting the needle used to withdraw the fluid. A needle is usually inserted through the mother's abdominal wall or at the end of the vagina, and through the wall of the uterus into the amniotic sac. With assistance from ultrasound, a physician aims towards an area of the sac that is away from the fetus and extracts a small amount of amniotic fluid for testing. The puncture heals, and the amniotic sac replenishes the liquid over a day or so. After the amniotic fluid is extracted, the fetal cells are separated from it using a centrifuge, and the fetal chromosomes are examined for abnormalities. Various genetic testing may be performed, but the three most common abnormalities tested for are Down syndrome, Trisomy 18 and spina bifida. Amniocentesis can be performed as soon as sufficient amniotic fluid surrounds the fetus to allow a sample to be recovered relatively safely, usually no earlier than the 14th week of pregnancy. Often, genetic counseling is offered in conjunction with amniocentesis.

Risks

Although the procedure is routine, possible complications include infection of the amniotic sac from the needle, and failure of the puncture to heal properly, which can result in leakage or infection. Serious complications can result in miscarriage. Other possible complications include preterm labor and delivery, respiratory distress, postural deformities, fetal trauma and alloimmunisation (rhesus disease). The risk of amniocentesis-related miscarriage is generally thought to be 1 in 200,[2] although a recent study has indicated this may actually be much lower, perhaps 1 in 1,600.[2] In contrast, the risk of miscarriage for chorionic villus sampling (CVS) is believed to be approximately 1 in 100, although CVS may be done up to four weeks earlier, and may be preferable if the possibility of genetic defects is thought to be higher [3].

In timp, urmarind atatea filme si citind ceva mai multe carti decat norma, am inceput sa-mi cizelez gusturile in aceasta privinta.

Cine stie, poate chiar si in privinta muzicii. Un ultim amanunt, desi am citit mult pana acum, consider ca nu am citit nici macar 5% din ce ar trebui sa citesc si, personal, ador asta.

The specialist insurance division of Hays recruitment consultancy in London has announced that despi

The specialist insurance division of Hays recruitment consultancy in London has announced that despite general trends in the job market, it has experienced a record month in July for introductions of permanent candidates into the insurance marketplace.

David Carr, Regional Manager for London at Hays Insurance, said: “Whilst many commentators are saying there is a slowdown in activity within the insurance industry, we haven’t seen this to be the case. We put this rise in recruitment down to a re-prioritisation of the roles that insurance companies are hiring for. They are hiring more staff in roles where people are either protecting or generating revenue. Although our clients are being more cautious than ever when making decisions on recruitment there are some very good jobs out there at the moment that would suit ambitious jobseekers.“

Roland Seddon, Regional Director at Hays Senior Finance, commented, "Over the last two months we have seen a sharp increase in demand for senior level candidates in the Insurance sector, and over 20% of our role registrations in 2007/08 have been in the last 8 weeks."

Hays Insurance has recently filled some high profile roles in the capital, including senior positions within a Big 4 consultancy firm, senior underwriter jobs within global insurers and director roles in specialist insurers and brokers. In fact, given the current Hays Recruitment figures on the state of the market, the insurance sector appears to possibly be benefiting from the present credit crunch.

Carr observed: “We have also noticed a vast increase in temporary and contract placements for experienced qualified individuals, which has highlighted the importance of the senior interim market during such uncertain times – and illustrates the value that the industry is placing on experienced people that can come in and offer something different.”

About the Company:

Hays Insurance is a subdivision of Hays Plc, the FTSE 250 Company which employs 7,753 staff operating from 376 offices in 27 countries across 17 specialisms. Hays Plc placed circa 68,000 candidates into permanent jobs and paid circa 46,000 temporary workers weekly during the year ending June 07.

It is getting harder and harder to keep up with world outside of arms reach. Much is going on thou

It is getting harder and harder to keep up with world outside of arms reach. Much is going on though. Last Wednesday and Thursday I was underway on a new destroyer putting her through her paces. She performed very well and will be ready to enter the fleet and do the work our nation requires.

I learned of some horrible news yesterday while on my way to a Navy Hail and Farewell ceremony. My cousin was involved in a fatal car accident. This really hits close to home because we were close in age and hung out when we were younger. I remember after we both moved out from under our parents roof we met at his place or my mine and hung out for the weekend. It became more difficult as we both began to work more weekends to pay the rent but he is always forged in my first memories of "being on my own" and doing things myself. I will be thinking and praying for him and those he left behind.

We frequently talk about doing things for ourselves but it seems more and more like we cant really do much on our own. Fifty years ago, many grew crops, killed their own chickens, worked on their own cars, got plenty of exercise and did not depended on things they did not understand or government to meet their needs. Today most do not change their own oil or grow anything and depend on some government program for something. As a result, the majority of the population has become specialized in a small number of things at the cost of a good general understanding of how the world works. I would argue that the vast majority has no idea what actually occurs in a slaughter house or how a car is built or what proportion the government allocates to all these programs that add little value to the people. Folks wonder why the stockmarket has become more erratic, why so many were tricked into adjustable rate mortgages or why just as many men as women get taken advantage of at the car repair center. I believe its because so few people actually understand how things work. For example, I would argue that the general population does not care to learn how their car works. As a result, when they take their car to be serviced they are at the mercy of the service managers integrity. The last time I took my car in to be serviced the gentlemen tried to sell me a new fan belt and wanted to change the fluid in my differential at 36,000 miles. I turned down the offer and asked him to perform only what I took the car in for which was a coolant flush and lower radiator hose replacement (very messy job to do on your own). That Jeep now has 97,000 miles on it and is just now needing that fan belt replaced. I went to my local O'reilly auto parts store and purchased a belt for $19 and put it in in about 30 minutes with the help of a Haynes manual. That got me thinking, what would that have cost me at a service station and what else would they have tried to sell the average customer. I call my local service station and asked and quoted me a price of $185 for the belt replacement (Parts - $60, Labor - $125). The guy then began to quote me all the maintenance due at 100,000 miles.

Not that everyone should be able to do major car repairs or get an accounting degree on the side to help with mortgage details but one should consider having a general understanding of the big pieces in their world and the equivalent of a Haynes manual as a resource handy. I think most would realize a cost and aggravation savings. Well, with the exception of the government piece...

VAR Printerland has revealed that it is ready to enter the acquisition market to compliment its ambitious growth plans for 2008.

Leading VAR Printerland is to implement an ambitious acquisition plan to further strengthen its leading position in the printer market.

Printerland is actively seeking out opportunities for strategic alliances and acquisitions, in particular targeting other smaller printer specialist dealers.

The development comes as the Altrincham based printer reseller is making significant strides and showing strong annual revenue growth far exceeding the rest of the market.

“Thanks to a very successful business model and the dedicated hard work of all Printerland staff, we are in the enviable position of being able to reinvest in our successful formula through external acquisitions,

“We have significant resources at our disposal and a steadfast confidence in the operating performance of the business. So it's a very good time to be looking at value-enhancing opportunities," Kight commented.

“In any industry, if you don't grow, you shrink or die. So it's our intention to build on our current success and take Printerland to even greater heights. We're looking forward to growing organically as well as through these acquisitions,” he added.

About www.printerland.co.uk

Established in 1993, Printerland has built up substantial revenues allowing it to maintain a large stock holding. By concentrating on matching customer needs and utilising economies of scale Printerland passes on lower costs to customers.
