At Crossroads we’ve just started this new series titled “Split Screen” and in many

At Crossroads we've just started this new series titled "Split Screen" and in many way's its based on something that Jesus said in Luke Chapter 6.

When I was preparing for this series I was taken back to being one of the people in the group with Jesus. I imagined myself hearing these words come out of his mouth. It's words like these that make me stop and think about my life......it's something I love about Jesus. Jesus has this amazing ability to make me stop and look at myself.

"Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in someone else's eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye?"

"How can you say, 'Friend, let me take the speck out of your eye,' when you yourself fail to see the plank in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from the other person's eye." Luke 6:41-42

I have to admit that many times as a Christian I've been all about dealing with other people's "stuff" and not dealing with my own. Sadly this is the way that most of the unbelieving world sees us.

This series is already rocking my world.

What is doing for you?

While thumbing through the New York Times, I found an article published last August 27, 2008 by John Biggs about a USB cable that can network two PC's and also be able to split the screens! I don't know about you, but I think this is great stuff! My husband is usually the geek when it comes to softwares, hardwares, gadgets and gizmos, but I think I know a great device when I see one!

We currently have two desktop PC's at home, sometimes he splits the screens when he is making updates on his website. It's very inconvenient when you have to go on all fours to work your way through the tangle of cable wires at the back. This device costs $130, but it's only available for PC's. Mr. Biggs said that Iogear will develop one for Mac users too!

akhirnya ngepost jugaaaa... -___-

voila!

O_o wtflolbbq! ada apa dengan layar saya!?
hmm... mungkin salah pasang viewport... lets, try again...

ah, satu kamera berhasil! next...

ok, tampak berhasil... tapi tunggu...

wait... I've got an idea...

behold! two white chess pawn! -___-
omg, distraction distraction...

anyway, voila!

yes, berhasil! teryata kesalahan utama adalah saya lupa memanggil graphics.GraphicsDevice.Clear(whateverColor)...

I bought a collection of filters with my second Holga as an impulse buy and have only recently got round to trying them out. They are attached to the camera with a filter holder that slides onto the Holga lens barrel.

I’ve noticed that, as with the Holga fisheye lens, the split screen filter (as in the first image here of Tokyo’s Hongwanji temple) reduces sharpness, which can be remarkably good with a Holga. These filters probably work best with flash.

I have yet to test the colour filters, but my favourite so far are the soft surround filters, which come in red, blue, green and grey. These act as colour filters, but leave a donut hole in the middle that is unaffected. These were all shot with a flash at night in Tokyo’s Ginza district. I've taken a peculiar liking to the green one.

I have decided against uploading any more scanned b/w negatives. I want to motivate myself to get back into the darkroom, and I’m getting a bit tired of seeing images only as digital data on a computer monitor. Photography is still about the printed image...

"IT'S NOT JUST A GAME. IT'S A WAY OF LIFE. IT'S BRUTAL", Creative Director Paul Hollywood bellowed repeatedly during PS Day today. Oh, and he also mentioned something about 4-player split-screen racing in the new game.

Motorstorm 2 will be set on an island, which will be your new nemesis. "A dangerous and unpredictable foe now awaits you," said Hollywood.

The terrain and whether on The Island are slightly hostile, you see. It's BRUTAL out there, with destructible trees and foliage growing all over the place, which you can cut through instead of using the track.

The larger the vehicles, the greater effect they'll have on the environment. So take a small bike and you'll have to follow the bigger vehicles if you want to make use of the short-cuts. You just won't be BRUTAL enough to do it yourself.

To help, they'll be a new vehicle in the sequel, in the form of a Monster Truck. "The Monster Truck is a climber," said Hollywood, "it's a predator - it just wants to crush other vehicles. You're here to bully everyone else". That's pretty BRUTAL.

Long before the days of mini-boxes and “Rip-Master” autographs (seriously, WTF?), Topps

Long before the days of mini-boxes and "Rip-Master" autographs (seriously, WTF?), Topps Finest was a pretty formidable product. Not long ago, I opened a box of 1999 Finest Series 1 Baseball. 1999 Finest was a 2-series product with Series 1 being comprised of cards 1-150 and Series 2 being comprised of cards 151-300. In addition, 2 types of boxes were available. Regular hobby boxes were comprised of 24 6-card packs while HTA "Jumbo" boxes were comprised of 12 13-card packs. I went with the jumbo on this one as there wasn't much of a difference in price and the odds of hitting inserts were more favorable. Both varieties of boxes can be had for around $35-45 or so. And on to the results.....

Base Set: As I stated earlier, the Series 1 base set is comprised of 150 cards. The first 100 are your standard base cards. The last 50 make up a bunch of subsets that feature a mixture of stars, young stars, and rookies. The stars are highlighted in a subset called "Gems." You'll find guys like Frank Thomas, Cal Ripken Jr., Barry Bonds, and so forth. The young stars are highlighted in a subset called "Sensations." Here you'll find players such as Todd Helton, Kerry Wood, Adrian Beltre, etc. Then, you have your rookies in a subset called.........wait for it........"Rookies." Yes, it's true. Despite the fact that the cards say "rookies," I only got 1 true rookie, Austin Kearns. The rest were guys who had RC's in 1997 products, like Roy Halladay and Lance Berkman. The last 50 cards are also shortprinted. You'll find these seeded 1 per pack in a Hobby pack and 2 per pack in a Jumbo pack. In this box I received 89 of the first 100 cards and 21 of the last 50. Duplicates and even triplicates(!) were a problem in my box. Altogether, I received 33 duplicates and 2 triples, and I didn't even complete the first 100 cards! Ugh. That was the only negative thing I could say about this box though.

Refractors: Ah, yes, the stuff that makes Finest the brand it is. Back then, there were only refractors and gold refractors. There was not one refractor (and X-fractor for that matter) for every color of the rainbow like now. In this product, refractors fell 2 per box on average while gold refractors were a much tougher pull, falling in every 2.5 boxes or so, and were limited to just 100. The 2 I got in this box were the refractor version of the "Sensations" subset cards of Troy Glaus and Ben Grieve (pictured above). I did not receive any gold refractors.

Peel & Reveal: This insert is very similar to the Mystery Finest sets found in basic Topps and other Topps Finest issues. You received a card covered by a black sheet that you had to peel off. It was a little remeniscent of Fleer Mystique except these were WAY harder to peel off. There were 3 versions of this insert. The most common, the one that I got, was called Sparkle (use your imagination). It was of Roger Clemens. The Sparkle cards come roughly 1 per box. The second parallel is called Hyperplaid and is a little harder to find. These have the perpendicular lines on them that Atomic Refractors do. These fall roughly 1 in every 2.5 boxes. The final parallel, and the most rare, is called Stadium Stars. I'm not even sure what these look like to be honest, but they are found roughly 1 in every 5 boxes or so. There are 20 total players in this set.

Leading Indicators: This is an interesting 10 card set. The player is featured with a background of a baseball field behind him. When you press down on a certain part of the "field," a stat is shown. It shows the breakdown of how many of the player's 1998 home runs went to each particular field. For example, on my Andres Galarraga card, I see that he hit 15 home runs to left field, 22 home runs to center field, and 7 home runs to right field in 1998. Pretty unique card, you don't see this kind of originality anymore, and that's sad.

Prominent Figures: This is a huge insert set of 50 cards. It's called Prominent Figures because they take 5 statistical categories and number the cards according to what the (then) single-season record was for each. For example, Home Runs cards were limited to 70, RBI cards were limited to 190, Slugging % cards were limited to 847, Batting Average cards were limited to 424, and Total Bases cards were limited to 457. There were 10 players for each of these categories. Some were in more than one category. The concept was that the 10 players selected were all deemed capable of challenging the record for that particular stat. In McGwire's case, he set the record so the Home Runs were limited to 70. I got a Slugging Percentage card of Barry Bonds. It is numbered 443/847. For a Bonds card, it's really nice, I have to admit.

Split Screen: The final type of insert I pulled from my box was the Split Screen insert. These cards featured 2 players who seemed to have some sort of common bond between them. Some played for the same team (Ken Griffey, Jr./Alex Rodriguez), some were longtime vets who played their entire career for one team (Cal Ripken, Jr./Tony Gwynn), and some were deemed the Wave of the Future (Travis Lee/Pat Burrell). Every Split Screen card had a refractor-type finish on at least one half of the card. These cards fell about 1 per box. There was a parallel version of this though, in which BOTH halves of the card had the refractor finish. Those were seeded in every third box or so. I got very lucky with this insert. I pulled a Ken Griffey, Jr/Alex Rodriguez and Barry Bonds/Albert Belle single refractor card AND a DUAL refractor of Travis Lee/Pat Burrell. As I recall, I had 2 of these 3 Split Screen Cards in the same pack!. It's always nice to beat the odds. ;)

Overall, 1999 was one of my favorite years for Topps Finest. It wasn't just a set of veterans and refractors like the early issues. It also wasn't a gimmicky assortment of mini-boxes, rookie autographs, and an insane amount of refractors like the later issues. It was a nice medium, filled with veterans, rookies, young stars, parallels, and great looking inserts with some unique and innovative ideas. If you're a fan of inserts, you'll like this product. There's some great looking stuff in here, and for around $40 or so, how could you go wrong? It sure beats the $8 jersey card you'll get from that pack of Playoff Absolute Memorabilia of the same MSRP.

As always, thanks for the read!

Sorry, I haven't been posting the last few days because work has been occupying more of my time. I did manage to catch up on my trailer viewing. Looks like this summer holds some potential. Here are a few films that peaked my interest.

Click HERE for Pineapple Express trailer. The Apatow gang is always money.

Click HERE for My Blueberry Nights trailer. Natalie Portman. Enough said.

Click HERE for Deception trailer. Ewan McGregor has a knack for picking good movies. I'm curious to see how Hugh Jackman plays tough without his adamantium.

Noivo Neurótico, Noiva Nervosa (Annie Hall). EUA. 1977.

Conhecemos a história desse casal.

Nota: 10.

Couple weeks ago I was having dim-sum lunch with some former co-workers. One thing lead to another, we started to talk about DSLR. One complain I had for today's DSLRs was that they did not have microprism focusing screen which used to have in the old days. The microprism focusing screen that I have on my Nikkormat FS is a split screen and I love it!

One explanation is that today's auto focus (AF) technology is so advanced that people do not need manual anymore. There is manual focus function on DSLR, yet, the focusing screen is so cripple that makes you want to switch back to AF right the way!

Today, my buddy Kirk told me that there's a company which sells microprism focusing screens for DSLR. I took a quick look at the website, and they have different screens for various DSLRs. They compares different screens that they sell and provide installation instruction (http://www.focusingscreen.com/privacy.php) with step-by-step pictures (http://www.focusingscreen.com/shipping.php)

My buddy Kirk ordered a screen from them. I hope to hear from him soon so that I can give you updates.

Last night, as my dinner was cooking (I won't lie, that means my freezer waffles were in the toaster), I turned on the TV. I was flipping channels, finding nothing interesting, as usual, when I stopped on a movie. What got me to stop was that the scene I stumbled upon was presented in split-screen. I've managed to avoid most of my more boring rants here in public, but I hate split-screens almost as much as I hate lap-dissolves. These are silly things to have strong opinions about; that's how I know that this is what I should be doing with my life.

Anyway, I stopped for the split-screen and stayed for the acting. Now, I only caught the last 35 or so minutes of the movie, so I can't really say much about the project as a whole. Thankfully, though, the little distraction-bar at the bottom of the screen lit up and told me: "You're Watching... Heights." So I looked up this movie, which I know nothing about, besides that there are some beautiful shots and some great acting in the closing stretch of it. And it is to the movie's great credit that I sat through some commercials and a few clever split-screens to watch it to the end.

So this movie, Heights. The director, Chris Terrio, directed a short film in 2002. It got picked up by IFC, and from there he got to direct a feature with top talent--Glenn Close and James Marsden being, in my opinion, some of the best out there. Then, of course, he gets his movie shown on television (yes, it was Lifetime, but who's to sneeze at any royalty check for broadcast?).

I suppose what's most encouraging here is that somebody buys short films! And selling your short can get your foot in the door for a bigger project. In theory, that's how the books tell you it happens, but I'll be damned if you can find more than a handful of examples. If five years from now, I've sold a short to IFC and have a feature being rebroadcast on Lifetime, I think I'd be damn happy with myself. Delusions of grandeur aside, that's probably a pretty fine living.
So congratulations, Chris Terrio.

I'm hot on your heels.

Texax Instruments recently showed off their latest technology, DLP. that makes two full-screen game vies appear on asingle screen! Talk about a whole new lan-party experience! Th follwing has been taken from Enageadget, and contains video links of the technology showcase.

Tired of getting blasted by your bro (or sis) on split-screen mode? Not wealthy enough to pick up a spare console, game and HDTV to solve the dilemma? DLP's got a new prototype that's seeking to squash said quandary by allowing each gamer to see different on-screen images. 'Course, this new hotness requires that you both rock an uber-nerdy set of glasses, and if you're curious to see what Mahalo Daily's Veronica Belmont looks like with 'em on, click on through to take a peek.

Start with a closeup of a pig eating from a trough. Hard rock music plays hard. Quick zoom in on the pig food, then zoom out up to the stars as a guitar / drum solo wails hard. The pig can be heard squealing a little. A cutout of Patrick Swayze appears in the corner of the screen and begins singing the theme song, "When you can catch upon a lucky star". He grunts out the words in his husky voice:

"When you can catch upon a lucky star,
You know just where I'll be.
When you need somebody to hug, yeah baby
That's where I'll be."

Slow fade in from black to the sound of an incredibly tall man headbutting a jar of marmalade played slow motion and in reverse. The scene is a college american football game. People are cheering and drinking beers and hot dogs in slow motion. It is night. The two teams, the Mougenbrockern Raiders and the Toollahassee Sequins, are tied 156 to 156 in the 7th quarter. PatrickSwayze fades off screen but you can still hear the theme tune.

"You gotta reach deep down inside yourself,
And find your inner American soul,
Like the pilgrims did all those years ago,
And then you never let me go"

The word "Go" drags out really long and some synth noises followed by a hard, driving snare beat zork into the speakers at brain-jellifying volumes. Patrick swayze flashes onto the screen for half a second, his eyes closed, hair large and permed, with his fist clenched in front of his breast. He falls to his knees and fades away. The singing continues as the camera zooms in on:
CHIP LEZNAR played by Chuck Norris. Despite playing a college football player, he has a full grown beard and a thousand-yard stare that could kill a bear from 15 miles away. He smirks and throws the football which slams into another players skull causing his legs to blast off his body in different directions and his face to melt. Another player pulls off his mask and the camera zooms in on his face. Freeze frame and it's Steven Seagal playing MARCUS WINSLOW THE THIRD. "My inheritance is bigger than yours, assface," says Seagal. Two huge football players come to tackle him and he sidesteps, grabs one by the ear and the other by the kneecap, steps, twists, shoves and the players land in a heap next to them with their limbs rearranged and their hair on backwards. Seagal and Norris slam their helmets back on their heads so hard that they sink about 10cm into the turf and say in unison "It's game time. Let's get it on!"

Quick montage of the rest of the game with Patrick Swayze superimposed in glowing white in the corner of the screen, still singing. Seagal slams into a random player in slow motion who does a backflip before splitting apart like a ripe banana.

"When you think you can't go on no more,"

Cut to a close up of Norris grinning behind his faceplate. Then zoom out to see that he is standing on a huge pile of dead bodies wearing football uniforms and tossing a ball up in the air. "Come and get it lard-ass," he says.

"I don't wanna hear that goddam crap. Suck it up and remember..."

Split screen showing Seagal running towards Norris. Bodies are flying everywhere like ragdolls and random buckets of blood are splashing against the screen and/or your face.

"You got to wish upon your lucky star..."

The two athletes approach each other and the camera zooms out to show the night sky where a shooting star flies across the screen accompanied by the sound of a tramp throwing a cat in the bin.

"And baby that's where I'll be..."

Cut to the after party in some big rich slob's mansion. Seagal and Norris are sipping champagne and flirting with hot babes whilst glaring at each other murderously across the room. Their glare is so intense that one guy accidentally walks in between them when they were staring at each other and promptly a red line appears across his body, then his chest, head and arms slide off and fall to the floor and a fountain of blood and guts sprays out of his decapitated body, showering party-goers in ropy gore which is awesome. Norris and Seagal continue staring at each other throught the fountain of blood. A close up of the blood, combined with a soft-focus split screen shot of Seagal and Norris's face and the sound of a carpenter bashing a terrapin against a wooden fence, will give the audience the strong feeling of some kind of high-level symbology with a hidden deeper meaning going on. CHIP LEZNAR's best friend TRIPP MCWILLIAMS says "Hey man are we gonna win the state championships or what? And when are you gonna bone MELISSA CHOAD-HEART. She wants your cock."

CHIP LEZNAR (Norris) grins and sidekicks a random party-goer so hard he explodes like a watermelon that has been put in the microwave. "That bitch is mine," he says, extra-loud, still staring sideways at MARCUS WINSLOW THE THIRD (Seagal.) MARCUS hears this and freaks out, crushing his glass in his hand which explodes and then rubbing the shards of glass in some chick's face. He stands up and the music stops with that KKKKEEESRCH sound that happens when the needle is suddenly pulled off a record. Partygoers pause midsentence and stare at Seagal and Norris, who are breathing so hard that their nostril hairs are blowing out about 10cm from their face and then inverting and going down their throat pretty hard. Somebody says to Seagal "Chill out dude, have a cocktai---" but he gets cut off mid sentence as Seagal knife-hands him in the throat (still looking only at Chuck Norris) causing his head to fall off and then a dog walks in the patio doors and sniffs the head, then takes a wizz on the head, then howls. Somebody pats Chuck Norris on the shoulder and says "I think you shoul---" but gets cut off as Norris's foot swivels round at an unnatural angle and zooms up underneath his chin, kicking him hard in the face, then in the ear, lastly in the neck twice causing the guy to vomit and then die.

Freeze frame on this scene of utmost tension. PAtrick Swayze appears breifly wearing diapers and sucking his thumb.

"LUCKY STAR 2" Slams into the screen to the sound of a hampster sitting on a chair being thrown through a window. "HAPPY GO LUCKY" appears underneath as if being spray painted on with a green aerosol can. Screen fades to black and a cutout of Patrick Swayze walks on done on a really bad bluescreen with a thick white outline. He looks at the camera and makes two guns out of his hands, pretends to shoot the camera, then blows imaginary smoke from the ends of his fingers. Freeze frame on him then a shooting star flies across the scene with a noise like a firework.

DIRECTED BY HUMBERT CHOO-KRANTZ headbutts the screen so hard your willy shrivels up and your balls burst.
