Mahō Tsukai ni Taisetsu na Koto: Natsu no Sora episode 3 review

This episode begins with Sora seeing Gouta heading out of the dorm house with a surfboard, and this gets her attention. Gouta gets some grief from the dorm mother (Saori) for not asking permission to do things, but Hara tells her to lighten up. Later, Sora and Gouta get their first clients, Sora's is maned named Motohashi Mami and she requests a safe be opened, and Gouta gets a client named Yamaguchi Makoto and her request involves memories.

Once in class the students get quizzed on whether or not they used magic before they registered for their training, and about 2/3 of the class admits that they had. The instructor forgives them for the prior use but tells them that in the future if they use magic outside a client's needs they might be punished.

After class, Sora and Hara head over to Sora's client's house to begin her first magical assignment. The woman takes Sora to a large safe/vault and asks her to open it, Sora just stands there and the woman asks her if she can use magic, and Sora tells her that opening magic is easy but why does she always lock it once a mage opens it?

Hara tells Sora to just fulfill the woman's request so, Sora unlocks the vault and sees that it contains photo albums from her life, Sora grabs the albums and runs off with them leading the lady outside, and she tells the lady that you need to be outside in the real world. Sora also tells the lady that locking away her memories and herself won't bring back the dead. Later, Sora and the woman have a good conversation about life and not living alone in forced loneliness.

That afternoon Gouta seems to have had a rough time with his magic, he thinks that he's a total failure, but his instructor tells him magic takes time and practice. As Sora and Hara walk home they talk about her city and even though Tokyo is different she still love the feeling of the city. Well, that's all for this episode.

Well, the first two episodes of this series introduced us to most of the main characters and provided the series setup. Now with episode three we start to get to the heart of the matter, Sora now begins her training to become a fully certified mage.

Sora like Yume in the first series believes that magic has a higher purpose than just fulfilling a client's request, Sora thinks that understanding why a client wants to have something done is key to getting the real problem solved. To Sora just opening a safe over and over is a waste of time, and that there has to be a deeper issue at hand. Sora's magic like Yume's magic is based on emotional context; if viewers remember the first series, Yume always started her magic off with the phrase "with all my precious feelings" or something close to that, so Sora's magic might not always be perfect it can be extremely powerful and beautiful.

Sora finds out that the woman's hidden treasure are her photos of the past and in protecting them the woman is barely alive, she lives in the darkness just like those photos. When Sora drags those albums into the light of day she also forces the woman to begin living again. The theme of Sora forcing the woman to begin to live her life once more can be seen in many anime series especially the Key series like, Air, Kanon, and Clannad. The moral of this episode is that it's better to move towards the future even if it's sad then to dwell in the darkness of the past.

Santana pretende montar igreja no Havaí

O guitarrista Carlos Santana anunciou em entrevista à edição norte-americana da revista Rolling Stone, que pretende abandonar a música nos próximos anos e se dedicar a vida religiosa.

Santana, 61, declarou que tocará até os 67 anos e, depois, irá montar uma igreja no Havaí, onde trabalhará como pastor, "assim como um de seus ídolos Little Richard" (Richard começou a pregar depois de sobreviver a um acidente de avião em 1957). Antes disso acontecer, o guitarrista prometeu lançar mais alguns álbuns. O próximo a sair do forno será Multi-dimensional Warrior, que tem lançamento previsto para o dia 14 de outubro.

A relação entre religião e música sempre foi bem estreita. Não são poucos os casos de artistas que foram influenciados por diferentes tipos de crenças que acabaram por influenciar na carreira artística, seja para melhor ou pra pior. Rapidamente me vieram à cabeça os exemplos de Sam Cooke, George Harrison , Rodolfo ex-Raimundos, Cat Stevens ( ou seria Yusuf Islam?). Psyren Chapters 3-41 [Natural Log]

It's been a couple chapters, so what has the gang been up to?

So Ageha, Amamiya, and Hiryuu manage to survive the deserted waste land long enough to get out of there. Immediately afterwards, the two guys get mondo headaches/nosebleeds.

They meet up with Amamiya's teacher, an alcoholic, world famous pianist, and learn the basics of Psi, Rise, Trance, and Burst. They also learn that Psyren is in fact the world in the future. Nemesis Q is sending them in order to find a way to prevent the outcome.

Through a series of events, they go back to Psyren (with minimal training) and meet up some new comers. Only two of them survive, and those two happen to be the 'fraidy cat Kabuto, and a movie star, Oboro.

A bunch of things happen, and they meet up with Hiryuu's long-lost best friend, Tatsuo. Only thing is, he's been turned into a weird insect-human Tavoo and no longer remembers them. Hiryuu and Ageha reveal their specialties; Hiryuu with a dragon tail-like extension, and Ageha and his Melchelsee's Door. Ageha's power goes berserk, but manages to save them. Luckily, Oboro discovers his power of Cure, and fixes heals the injured. Kabuto proves to be useless.

They go back for some serious training (all except for Kabuto who runs off somewhere), and learn how to control their Psi better with the help of some outsiders, and go back. Once in Psyren, they make a startling discovery. Turns out, Kabuto wasn't completely useless. While the others were training, he was mapping out his Uncle's bomb shelter, which could supposedly withstand anything. At the shelter, a recording is found. The day that everything fell came on 12/3/2009 by an Organization called W.I.S.E. and their World Rebirth Project. Evidently, they want to turn the world into rubble. Wow, some rebirth that is.

Just as they were making some progress, one of the WISE leaders, Dholaki, finds them and interrogates them. At first they manage to bluff, but when the Dholaki reveals that it's the end of June 2018, their facade falls apart, and the gang is forced to split up and fight.

Amamiya finally reveals her fighting ability.

Hiryuu discovers that Oboro isn't the Mr. Nice Guy he claims to be.

Kabuto is found to have an acute perception called Vision.

Too bad Chapter 41 ends just as Ageha is releasing his newly polished attack...

At first when I read Psyren, I though, meh, it's too similar to a lot of series... It'll flop. But as the series progresses, new plot twists turn up and the characterization goes deeper. Who knew Hiryuu used to be a shrimpy nerdy kid? For now, I have my suspicions on Oboro. He seems like a pretty shifty guy.

Also, in the past couple chapters, the drawings seem to be more defined. Whether this is the work of the scanners or the mangaka, we'll never know. Either way, Ageha's turning out to be a pretty cool main character :P. He went from useless protagonist to cool and dependable :D.

Anyhow, I'm betting that if more people read this series, it'd be popular REAL fast. It's got major potential. We'll just see how things progress from here :)

dude, this season of Supernatural is gonna be frakking awesome. i'm gonna call it right now. AWESOME. what they did with Mary Winchester (the original badass FEMALE hunter) was brilliant beyond words for me, and answers so many questions that had been brought up since Day 1. very interesting to see how the roles reversed with her and John after she died. and how brilliant are Kripke and Co. that they had this planned from the start? with a lot of shows i watch, you sometimes get the feeling that the writers aren't sure where they're going with the story, and to have something from the frakking PILOT show up in the fourth season was fantastic. and at the same time, brought up a whole new big question! what the hell is YED's endgame if having Sam head a demon army wasn't it? what the shit is gonna happen when Dean finds Sam with Ruby?

and Castiel's end warning? brilliant. Misha Collins is playing this just perfectly, exactly how i had imagined a few of my angelic cast. speaking of, just 3 eps into the fourth season, and this story keeps running parallel to mine (i was going through some of my notes, trying to get everything together, and i came across a blurb i had written down in 2003 about Cassiel/Castiel for my story)! it's brilliant to see. the fact that the brother who has always believed in a Good side, has always believed in angels, has prayed to God is the one who hasn't seen Castiel yet and is the one who will potentially turn evil, again, is just brilliant. loved how the angels know exactly what Sam's been up to and are leaving it to Dean to stop so they don't have to. it actually reminded me of when i was a kid, and my dad would threaten to "clean" my room if i didn't (ie. throw everything in a trash can).

and speaking of that, the really surprising thing about this season is that my brother and dad have been watching it! at first, i know Mikey was watching just so he could be a shit through the season opener and annoy me, but he didn't make it even halfway through with that. and they've been asking me questions about everything and it's just nice to have someone to talk about the show with.

Every once in a while something happens that at first glance seems to utterly defy rational explanation.

Occurences for which a supernatural explanation seems the obvious one.

It is these phenomenon - generally in the form of a vivid personal experience - that provide people with proof of their supernatural suspicions.

Everyone knows someone who has seen a ghost or talked to Jesus, or had a message through a medium from the spirit world.

I have had two experiences that I can only describe as transcendental and spiritual. They happened in the murky consciousness in the period somewhere between consciousness and unconscious sleep.

These were so real that if I were a believing Christian or Muslim I would no doubt have attributed them to God and used them as a personal vindication of my beliefs.

Luckily I understand that the brain is capable of creating illusions and that an illusion is an infinitely more rational explanation for these experiences than a connection with a supernatural force.

Something similar happened to my father over the weekend.

An elderly friend of his who was dying of cancer 'came' to him in his sleep. My father (who is in no way inclined to entertain religous or psychic nonsense) said the vision was so vivid that it woke him from his sleep. He noted the time - 10.38pm - and went back to sleep.

It turns out his friend died about 11pm that same night.

I'm sure for a lot of people this would be the ultimate proof of an afterlife, that my dad's friend was 'contacting' him as he 'passed over'.

My instant reaction to this story was one of awe.

But, as in all of these situations there is a perfectly rational explanation.

Firstly, we know the brain is capable of creating illusions and delusions. Especially while we sleep - they are called dreams.

Second we know that our dreams are informed by what we think about and how we behave. My father had visited his friend at the hospice in the days leading up to his death and was well aware that his end was imminent.

As for the time, as spooky a coincidence as that is, the most rational explanation is that it is just that, a coincidence.

This explanation requires one leap of faith - you have to believe the time-thing is a coincidence.

The supernatural explanation requires believing in life after death - something for which there is no evidence - and believing in the ability of the dead to contact the living - again for which there is no evidence.

Of course for many people believing in life after death and the ability of the dead to contact the living requires no leap of faith, because human beings are wired to believe in these things.

I think this is because unlike every other species that exists and has existed in the history of the Earth we can comprehend our own death. The idea that we will one day cease to exist for eternity is an unpleasant prospect. So we are less inclined to question ideas about an afterlife or a soul. Because they are reassuring, they make our mortal lives more bearable.

And for those of you who want to argue that these irrational beliefs in the supernatural are harmless, here is some food for thought from the late American scientist Carl Sagan:

"If you are open to the point of gullibilty and have not an ounce of skeptical sense in you, then you cannot distinguish useful ideas from worthless ones. If all ideas have equal validity then you are lost, because then, it seems to me, no ideas have any validity at all."

Breaking Dawn by Stephenie Meyer

Summary: Last book in the Twilight Saga.
Rating: 6 out of 10

My Thoughts: You're going to expect one of two things from me--either an "EDWARD CULLEN IS MY SOUUULLL MAAATE" kind of review, or a "DIE, STEPHENIE MEYER, DIE YOU UNHOLY WITCH OF A BAD WRITER" type of thing. I almost kind of expect it of myself, because that's basically all I've heard from the two camps that so vehemently defend their positions on the famed Twilight Saga.

Okay, I don't like it. But before the next preteen girl that reads this tracks me down and tears me to shreds, I'm going to admit that it's not a bad way to spend a couple hours. It's entertaining and intriguing enough to hold my attention. Meyer's got a good hand on the English language, and there were a couple spots that had me laughing out loud.

Bella's world is much, much too perfect. I know I'm at risk of sounding whiny myself, but Miss Swan gets everything she wants, when she wants it, without having to lift a single little pinky finger. There's no loss, or triumph, no hardships or tough spots. She's got it all, immediately. I don't think she learns anything, and as a result, the target audience of adolescent girls doesn't learn anything either.

I'm not saying that it's a golden rule that you have to learn A Big Moral Lesson from everything you read, god no, otherwise I wouldn't have read half the books that I have. At least learn something. And by something, I don't mean the stuff you learn from Bella's book, "How To Turn Immortal While Avoiding All Usual Nasty Side Effects Because You're Perfect!" It was all just a little anticlimatic, disappointing... unfulfilling.

click here.So I saw he advertisement for "Changeling" which comes out on Halloween, and it grabbed my attention because my life basically revolves around the paranormal. The great thing about the internet is that you can find information before you use money on your movie ticket.

While "Changeling" looks to be a great mystery film, it does not deal with the supernatural at all. It is, in fact, based off the Wineville Chicken murders. For more information, click here.

So I think it might be a good movie, but I just wanted to let anyone who was really looking forward to something out of the ordinary for Halloween that it is just a Hollywood version of "Cold Case Files".

Historical Fiction: The Book of Lost Things, by John Connelly

How many avid readers just like us have used books as a retreat from life's difficulties? That's exactly what David does, when his mother dies, his father remarries, and a new little half brother enters the scene. WWII is heating up, and when a German bomber goes down in flames, landing in the family garden, David finds that the weirdest characters and places from his adventure tales are real. And dangerous. His life will never be the same, not even if he manages to escape with his life and return to his family.

An allegory on war and on conquering one's fears, The Book of Lost Things is anything but didactic. On the contrary, it's a perilous quest in the classic sense, full of the stuff of nightmares and horror stories. No cute little elves or fairies in David's new world, only plenty of slavering werewolves, terrible trolls, and horrific monsters which take shape in accordance with his own deepest dreads. The way in which he handles these unimaginable challenges forms the core of this story, which is magical in content but realistic in its truths.

Recommended highly to readers of skillfully written fantasy, especially if interested in "the uses of enchantment".

I recently got back from a trip to San Diego last week. I went down to host a BBQ for any students interested in getting involved with Origins, the campus ministry we are planting at UCSD. Without any advertising on campus, we had 20 students show up. 7 of them were freshmen, including a Chinese student who was been in the US for 1 month. 10 other students wanted to come, but were unable to. I shared my heart and vision for UCSD. We worshiped, prayed and the Holy Spirit said "hello". I spoke about the need for miracles, signs, and wonders on campus. But, it's one thing to talk about it and another to see it. So, I asked if anyone was sick. One girl has been getting migraines almost everyday, so we prayed for her. Then an Asian student who wasn't looking very good said she had flu symptoms and they were getting worse throughout the night. The students gathered around and we prayed. I had her stand up and asked how she felt. Her face communicated what happened. Her eyes were huge, her color was back in her face, and with a perplexed voice she said, "I am not sick anymore". Everyone was speechless. I simply said, "now that's the gospel in real time and it's good news".

The next day we went on campus with a guitar to do what we are calling "Seismic". It's an open-air time of worship for the purpose of shifting the atmosphere. When we worship, the atmosphere around us is morphed because God's presence is made manifest. People can walk into the presence of God as we worship and something comes alive within them...the purpose they were created for: to worship God. With little singing, a guitar was played and we prayed in the midst of hundreds of students walking by. It was awesome.

Last night, the students started the first "Biosphere". These are small gatherings that are family-centric. Living out faith together. Cecilee and I chimed in through ooVoo video conferencing, which is amazing by the way. We prayed with the students and encouraged them. A little while after we got off the call, a student called and said that the Holy Spirit fell after we ended the conference call. Students were weeping for UCSD and crying out for a move of God. They were asking, "Father, where are you already moving on campus". In midst of the prayer time, this student who called received a text message from a student he met two years ago. In a nutshell she said that for two years she's tried everything, but none of it has worked. She asked if he knew of any campus group that could help her discover God. Hello...prayer actually does work.

UCSD is on the brink...seriously on the verge of an amazing move of God. We just need to get there and soon. We are very close to being able to move down there. After being with the students and watching what unfolded, we are so desperate to get there. Please continue to pray for funding and open doors with housing on both ends: our home we own here in Northern California and finding a place to live in San Diego.

Cryptic men and curious women

Its hard to even find a single article about this, maybe I have the wrong phase, but I'm not sure what else to call this.

There's nothing more frustrating than a cryptic man.. or woman for that matter. but I have noticed its men mostly.. examples are probably most spiritual gurus/guides out there..if hadn't of read Eckhart Tolles books, i would still to this day be wondering what the hell those people were on about, (Tolle being very uncryptic.. talks in simple terms. explains any "sayings" he uses etc) and I guess Brock Palmer (SL relationship Wisdom guide) would be another one who speaks in a clear language.

I am really thinking now these guru type people come up with this junk to draw in the followers, make themselves seem as almost supernatural thinkers... it seems almost like a planned tactic.. maybe it is.. a very old one..

I know those phrases and sayings do have value and meaning, I really love quotes, I do and I love quotes that get you thinking for yourself.. but! there's a limit for me.. constant riddles and cryptic phrases with no answers in the end causes confusion and frustration.. why should I always have to be asking what they mean.. obviously they already know, so why not just say it! I really don't need to be living my life in constant frustration and annoyance trying to get answers.. I will eventually just give up and ignore them.

In my personal life, I have to admit I find cryptic men a lure, my "need to know" attitude feeds my curiosity immensely to the point of utter frustration...half truths, subtle hidden meanings, cryptic questions and answers just pull me in to find out more, I can waste a hell of a lot of time just thinking on what they really mean, trying to find the "truth"... but with little possibility of actual answers, ...as with teachers and guides.. I will eventually give up trying when the frustration is stronger than my curiosity.

Maybe its that most men find talking about certain things difficult, so they create riddles for you to figure it out.. but get over it!.. what year is this anyway? we should be open and clear with each other, we have a common language, lets try using it! ...

Cryptic guys?. if you have something to say.. just say it. you wont be thought of as any less of a man.. in fact the opposite!
