A fresh batch of photos from the set of McG's Terminator: Salvation: The Future Begins have shown up on the Internet, plus there's a new feature at the New York Times, which you can read here. Check out the photos after the jump.

Synopsis
The fourth installment of the Terminator series follows an adult John Connor (played by Christian Bale) as he attempts to organize a human resistance force which could prove to be humankind's last true hope for survival in the war against their intelligent robot overlords. Aussie Sam Worthington portrays Marcus, an early version of the Terminator robot, with Anton Yelchin filling Michael Biehn's shoes as a young Kyle Reese in what is planned to be a new trilogy from director McG (Charlie's Angels).

Some deeply unconvincing computer tech spoils things this week and while the story has a logical coherence throughout, it feels like it doesn't really make sense. Also while Sarah's conclusion that Derek killed Andy Goode is, of course, correct, the episode provides no satisfactory explanation as to how she reaches that. We've already established that multiple terminators are running around with different missions and while the Vick terminator didn't kill him, surely another one could have. On top of that, her statement that she'll kill Derek if he lies to her again is just plain stupid. Though very American.

This Terminator: Sarah Connor Chronicles, The episode contains violence, unpleasant scenes.

Bruce Davison manages to be incredibly annoying in yet another entertainment enterprise though he does get punched in the face by Sarah Connor, soaked to the skin and locked in a mental hospital. Good. The episode is generally good but low-key but contains a sequence of terrific scenes in the third act. Cameron and a pair of informants is well contrasted with a scene with Lena Headey and Agent Ellison. This is followed by a very strong scene between mother and son Connor and that scene, together with the Dr Silberman stuff, directly ties this episode in brilliantly to James Cameron's Terminator 2.

This Terminator: Sarah Connor Chronicles, The episode contains brief extreme and not graphic violence, inferred gun violence.

For those that haven’t noticed, I like movies. Sci-Fi movies are particularly fun for me. Fo

For those that haven't noticed, I like movies. Sci-Fi movies are particularly fun for me. For my list, I have almost completely eliminated Horror flicks from my list. I have also grouped franchises in one place and added a few honorable mentions. So here is my list of the top 5 Science Fiction movies ever made.

Honorable Mention:
2001: A Space Odyssey - It's a bit of a slow film, and it can be a little bit confusing, but the music and scenery are amazing. The highlight of the movie may be the chimps learning to use weapons.

ET - How did they make such an ugly character so lovable? Only Spielberg could have pulled that one off.

Soylent Green - Chuck Heston stars in this film about a bleak future where populations are out of control and food is rationed by the government in little colored wafers. I won't tell you what Soylent Green is made from, but I can tell you that it ain't lettuce.

The Terminator - This franchise is about a computer system gone mad which sends a robot/android back through time to kill a future rebel leader while he's a kid. The whole series has some great twists, action, characters, and quotes. "I'll be back!"

#5. Planet of the Apes - Chuck Heston makes the list again with this sci-fi film about a crew of astronauts which land on a planet run by talking apes which have enslaved non-talking humans. What planet could this be? The end, like Soylent Green, is pretty dramatic with a major twist.

#4. Blade Runner - Harrison Ford stars as a bounty hunter/agent out to destroy some criminal replicants, androids that look, act, and think just like a real human. He has a test which can determine if they are real or impostors, but maybe he should try it on himself. This is a seriously good movie.

#3. Back to the Future - Michael J. Fox leads the way in this fun and funny 80's franchise about time travel and the effects of tinkering with the past. These flicks tie in a bit of a western theme and actually predicts a World Series win by a Miami baseball team. This is a movie I can watch just about any time.

#2. Star Wars - Harrison Ford makes his second appearance in my list with a classic tale of good vs evil. I loved this whole franchise but I wasn't to keen on Jar Jar. He may be one of the most annoying movie characters of all time (stay tuned for a future Top 5). One of the greatest heroes (Luke) and greatest villains (Darth Vader) have it out in this series. This movie franchise brought about the best special FX for it's time.

#1. The Matrix - I love this franchise because of the way it values reality over the perception of what is reality of the characters. The heroes are fighting for a free world which is a hard existence as opposed to false reality which is a much easier and more pleasant life. The action and special FX, like Star Wars, are revolutionary. Much of the movie uses religious metaphor and imagery. The movies also have a running theme, that is that even though it seems that everything is destiny, you have a choice.

Think I missed something? You ask,"What about Star Trek, Alien, Minority Report, or Jurassic Park?". If you think you can do better, make a list and I'll gladly tell you why I am right.

Upon the distress of hearing, knowing, and eventually acknowledging that director McG will be directing the fourth installment of the Terminator franchise, Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins (ughhh), I began to wonder... If you are going to help repair a franchise that will undoubtedly be destroyed over time, what could potentially be the ultimate band-aid, besides a time displacement field used to go back in time to destroy McG before he was even born?

The answer: cast Shirley Manson, lead singer of the disbanded band Garbage for the second season of Fox's hit television series based off of the films.

Voila! Two of my favorite things ever coming together. Terminators AND Shirley Manson... Can Manson act? I have no idea, but she sure knows how to rock and look smokin' hot which should please most heteros. After the amazing first season of Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, I cannot wait to see what's in store for Manson's character.

The writer of the first season, Josh Friedman, brilliantly displayed his love and knowledge of James Cameron's vision of the first two films. Friedman weaved Cameron's 1980's body horror allure (due to physical and psychological breakdowns) with Cameron's penchant for stories believably based in reality, which are always exhalted to biblical proportions. Example: Sarah and John outrun human-like machines that are perpetually disfigured, while at the same time visiting a doctor's office to make sure that the rumors that Sarah will die of cancer are untrue.

I love Terminator.

Again, I also love Shirley Manson. What is so inspired about this casting choice is that Manson's former band's style (despite sounding dated) goes hand-in-hand with the style of Terminator. Garbage came at a time when the era of grunge was ending and where boy bands were about to explode. Garbage's music is an epic grunge-pop hybrid, much like Cameron's creation is a hybrid of simple biopunk sensibilities and big-budget blockbuster.

Over the course of four albums, Manson's lyrics and vocal work display the same traits and themes as the Frankenstein-like-monsters and humans of Terminator. Her vocals are simultaneously human and inhuman.

My 7 year old daughter has become one of the 5 biggest fans of the Terminator I have ever met.

She is a big fan of the Sarah Connor Chronicles TV show and the other night she noticed the original 3 films in my DVD collection.

After she begged for a few hours as only a 7 year old can, we sat down to watch the first one.

This is not a review. This is just an observation. I never noticed this before and now that I have and REALLY thought about it - this movie is ruined for me.

I shall now ruin it for YOU.

I like to share.

The Terminator comes to our time to kill Sarah Connor.

That is all it has to do. It does not need to eat. It does not need to sleep. It does not need to rest. All it needs to do is find Sarah Connor - and kill her. So why then, does the Terminator - get a motel room.

I have seen this movie 15 times and never questioned it. I am questioning it now. Why would the Terminator get a motel room. It is implied that he 'snuck" into the room as we see him climb in the window, but then later a maintenance man asks if he has a dead cat in the room. So they know SOMEBODY is there.

So WHY IS HE THERE?

You would think that the Terminator would spend EVERY waking moment hunting for Sarah Connor - what with him being a TERMINATOR and all.

The whole Kyle Reese is John Connor's father thing used to make my head hurt, but now - I'm just annoyed.

I wonder if he posted a review on Hotels.com

Stupid Terminator movie.

Today we have bad news and worse news. First, the bad news: Terminator 4 (fuck...). Now the worse news: Someone other than Ahnuld Schvatzenehger will be starring in the upcoming film. Oh wait, it's the new Batman Christian Bale? Oh, I guess that's ok then.

According to The Chicago Sun-Times, Bale will be playing Schwarzenegger's signature role of starring in the upcoming Terminator film, Terminator Salvation, as John O'Connor Connor in the next upcoming Terminator movie: Terminator Salvation sans Arnold Schwarzenegger. Oh, and Bale is comparing it to Batman too. Bale believes that by him starring in the new movie, he will help to breathe life into a dying franchise, similar to how he resurrected Batman.

Ok first of all, Batman only counted as a dying franchise because somewhere along the way, they decided to cast this hack as Batman. Second, Terminator has been around since like, 1984, so twenty-four years later, is this tired old franchise really worth reviving? And third, how the hell is Bale going to pull of that outrageous accent that only Ahnuld can do?

Is there any way we can get Cruz Bustamante to fill in for Arnold for like, a month while he films his 64 lines of dialogue for the new Terminator? Please?

Update 7/3: Clearly, I am not up to date on my Terminator trivia, and special thanks to commenter John for helping me get my facts straight. Next time though, try not to sound like an arrogant dick. I promise that if we ever meet, I won't touch your Star Wars figures and leave them exactly in the boxes where they belong.

Tombol Start Windows Berubah jadi Dick Saat MEnjalankan Anti Virus X-Code-Terminator

According to the trade publication, Variety, Legendary Pictures has confirmed it will move forward

According to the trade publication, Variety, Legendary Pictures has confirmed it will move forward on a follow up to its 2007 worldwide hit, 300. Frank Miller is writing the script and Director Zach Snyder is interested in helming the project once again. While I personally liked 300 I don’t see myself jumping up and down at the thought of a sequel. Visually, it was unique and its storyline about the ancient Spartans was involving enough, but I just can’t get excited about another one.

The trades are also reporting that actress Helena Bonham Carter (Sweeny Todd) is in talks to play an important role in the fourth Terminator movie, currently in production. While the size of her part has not been disclosed, some media outlets are saying she will play the film’s villain. I think there will be a lot of excitement as its release date approaches since Christian Bale (The Dark Knight) is starring in the film as the now grown up John Connor, the man fated to lead the human race against Sky Net and an army of Terminators. Speaking of Terminator, I’m really glad that Fox TV gave the series a second season pickup as it’s a really good piece of television. It’s so much better than I ever thought it would be and I love the shows lead, Lena Headey who does a great job playing Sarah Conner. I think the show creators can really build off a solid first season.

Look for The Godfather trilogy to be released in the High Definition Blue-Ray format on Sept 23rd. The four disc set will come with five documentaries. Godfather1 and 2 underwent a digital restoration supervised by director Francis Ford Coppola which took more than a year to complete. Expect Blue-Ray to be the dominant format in home viewing within the next two years. Hey - there’s a reason your local Blockbuster is selling off two month old DVD titles, 4 for $20!

It was a great weekend at the movies in terms of Box office, as overall ticket sales were up 20% over the same weekend last summer. It’s no surprise that Pixar’s WALL-E opened big with 62.5 mill in business. The unexpected winner was Universal action flick, WANTED. The Hard R rated pic did a better than expected 51 mill in its opening frame. That’s the biggest June opening ever for an R rated film. Studios have been skittish of the R rating with Fox releasing its DIE HARD 4 last year with a PG-13 rating just to assure a broader audience. Producers of the upcoming fourth TERMINATOR film will also reportedly shy away from the R rating and produce a PG-13 product. In the case of WANTED, an R rating certainly didn’t hurt ticket sales. Universal is planning on turning the property into a franchise.

Indiana Jones and The Curse of the Crystal Skull is right at the cusp of passing the 300 mill mark in ticket sales. It will be the second film, behind Marvel’s IRON MAN, to do so this summer. Whether fans of the series have been satisfied with it is another story altogether. I’m a big Indy fan and was disappointed with the film and I know I’m not alone! Sex and the City is now up to 140 mill in 5 weeks of release. There’s no doubt Warner Bros will want a sequel. Whether the cast can all agree to a deal to bring them back for a second time is another question altogether. You Don’t Mess with the Zohan is struggling to get to the 100 mill mark. It’s currently at 91 mill and petering out. Could Adam Sandler’s box-office luster be wearing a little thin with his fan base? I love him but how long can he keep doing the silly stuff now that he’s now four decades old. Follow this LINK for this weekend’s Box Office Totals.

This morning I am being innovative on the technology front once more. Usually I type my blog posts

This morning I am being innovative on the technology front once more. Usually I type my blog posts from my lovely study, which I love. My pc is as old as the hills and has to be wound up with an elastic band and a pencil, but as we have already established that I am a technophobe who fears change, this doesn't bother me unduly. Since giving up entirely on the world of paid work I have forgotten my previous ability to make cunning powerpoint presentations about the fascinating world of rights and permissions and the spread of liver cancer in the western hemisphere. I no longer need to do sums wrongly in Excel to baffle the police force, or indeed write letters in Excel, which one very bizarre company that I worked for insisted that I do to 'save time' ! Nor do I have to drive everyone in the office bonkers by becoming spastically number blind and entering three hundred people's phone numbers back to front in any number of customised databases you care to mention.

I am free, free from the demands of complex administration and newfangled, labour saving devices which in the entire ten years plus of my working life have never yet heralded in the arrival of the paperless office despite what that man with the funny glasses and the pen protector said once in that meeting where he persuaded you to give him several thousands of your hard earned pounds which you would recoup in stationery savings alone. The same thing he said in that meeting every year since when you've found that not only have your stationery bills tripled, but that your shiny new gadgets are now so out of date that unless you replace them as soon as you've had them installed even the man who comes to water the flowers laughs at you because the computer at his son's school is better, quicker and has more buttons.

Most people are like me when it comes to technology, but are just better at hiding their ignorance. The only time this rears its ugly head is in people's persistence, despite reassurances from IT departments up and down the land about back ups and USB sticks etc, in making a paper copy just in case, and hiding it away in a secret room for emergency purposes. Quite often they don't file it properly as a gesture of defiance and a brave two fingers to their paranoia, but they still keep it as a kind of scratchy, environmentally unsound comfort blanket for when the machines rise up against us, just like in Terminator, and they really, really need to know what Janine said about numbers for coffee in the board room last Tuesday.

I cannot possibly keep up. I don't even know what widgets are for goodness' sake. I don't even try to keep up. I have been thinking recently about laptops however, not because they're cool and funky and you shouldn't leave home without one, but because I will be able to track the children round the house as they decimate it room by room, and this might mean I have less clearing up to do. It would also mean I have less far to run when they're sitting on each other's heads forcing lego down their gullets and pulling the wings off flies. Surely this can only be a good thing, particularly in my unfit state. I fear exercise more than I fear technology.

I have been mulling it over for some time, and made the decision this weekend due to the fact that the children like being outside, even if they have to wear twelve layers of fur to enjoy our British summer, and in the office I can't reach them quick enough if they're garrotting each other with the skipping ropes. Now we have new, comfortable garden furniture I also had visions of myself sitting happily under a parasol, typing away, sipping freshly squeezed orange juice and lobbing tennis balls at the children's heads until they behaved themselves. An idyllic picture I'm sure you will agree.

Unfortunately our laptop is even more decrepit than my pc. Jason has a spanky laptop for work, but as he actually needs to work I can't wrest it from his grasp. Then there's our laptop, which is made from granite, doesn't like being carried around, and refuses to work off its own battery because mains electricity tastes so much nicer. It is so old it has a picture of Winston Churchill engraved on the front and works by feeding it old penny pieces using a crank handle.

So much for my visions of lounging around on the decking. I am currently crouched in the kitchen near to a suitable power outlet, sandwiched between a wall of clean laundry that needs sorting out and the tumble drier. It took five minutes to power up when I plugged it in, and if I cough, the screen goes all funny. Even I, as the person who doesn't really give a crap about such things, am disappointed in it. I don't need it to be a Mac Powerbook or an Ipodular device. I don't need it to match my shoes and fit into a hand woven Burberry computer carrier. I do think it would be nice if it were slightly more mobile, less heavy and less prone to tantrums than my middle child however.

Jason says that this is a test. Apparently he doesn't want to invest in a new laptop if I'm just going to get enthusiastic about it for a week and then never look at it again, much like Tilly's trumpet lessons and his exercise bike (which I might add, had nothing to do with me. I was unenthusiastic about both things right from the start). I have to prove my loyalty by slogging away, chipping the text out with a tiny technological chisel, going deaf from the whir of the tumble drier and blind because the screen is a bit funny. If I then survive going crazy with frustration because this thing needs more coaxing to get started in the morning than Tallulah, I might be allowed to have a real one, which actually allows me to move around the house like it says in the adverts. That is, if we've got enough money down the back of the sofa. I can't wait.

After the horrendous miniseries remake of The Andromeda Strain (a movie that was so good to begin wi

After the horrendous miniseries remake of The Andromeda Strain (a movie that was so good to begin with it didn't need a remake) and the mediocre movie remake of Get Smart, it seems that Hollywood has caught sequel, adaptation and remake-mania. Is Hollywood turning to remakes because it has run out of new ideas? You decide...

Astro Boy: This seems like one of those shows that wouldn't lend itself very well to a movie. However, it seems like it's going to be following in the footsteps of the CGI Ninja Turtles movie, so it might not be that bad...

A Christmas Carol: As if enough versions of Dickens' classic short story didn't exist already, it seems that Robert Zemeckis of Polar Express fame is intent on bringing us another one. On a positive note, this adaptation stars Jim Carrey as Scrooge, so it might be worth watching.

Dragonball: Fan reactions on this one range from delight to outrage. Indications seem to point to numerous story and character changes from the show, which hasn't helped this movie win any new fans. I'm highly skeptical about this one, but also willing to give it a chance.

Final Destination 4: 3 films too many.

Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs: Putting aside the ludicrousness of dinosaurs existing after the KT Extinction event, this one doesn't look too promising. I didn't even like the first Ice Age film... although Scrat was mildly amusing.

Max Payne: I don't know enough about the Max Payne video games to be excited about this one... however, video game film adaptations usually turn out to be disappointments. I'll only see this one if the reviews are very positive.

The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor: Early reviews of this are positive. Like the first two Mummy films, this promises to be a serviceable and funny action-adventure, and a good popcorn flick.

Spyro The Dragon: Although this film is listed for a 2009 release, it's likely it will be pushed back as it has yet to enter preproduction.

Star Trek: Calling J.J. Abrams' Star Trek 'highly anticipated' would like be calling the Pacific Ocean a puddle of water. Paramount is counting on this powerhouse film to drive their 2009 summer season, and fans are counting on Abrams to give their favorite franchise a worthy remake. Although what has surfaced so far looks promising, I'll reserve judgment until I actually see it next summer.

Star Wars: The Clone Wars: Unusual character designs aside, this movie (actually the pilot episode for an upcoming Cartoon Network series) looks pretty good. Despite being entirely CGI, the action sequences look just as impressive as the ones from the feature films... which will prove to be important in an action-driven movie. I'll definitely see it.

Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins: As if Terminator III didn't screw over established Terminator continuity badly enough, it seems Warner Brothers is making a new movie without Arnold Schwarzenegger. Heresy, I say! Heresy!

Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen: Unfortunately, it seems that this movie is going to follow the same brainless, frantic and muddled style with which 2007's Transformers disappointed so many longtime fans. At least this movie will continue to show that Michael Bay has the uncanny ability to ruin many a good script with his horrid directing. If Transformers II ends up being good, I'll be surprised.

X Men Origins: Wolverine: Anything with Hugh Jackman as Wolverine is more than welcome in my book.

Well, there you have it. Although many of these films look promising, I have no doubt at least one (and probably more) will wind up as disappointments. I'm still waiting for Hollywood to come up with another great original Sci-Fi franchise... but for now, it seems I'll have to be satisfied with remakes.

CALIFORNIA

Oh California. A state full of movie stars and earthquakes. Where Lindsay Lohen can have people pay her to take pictures of her. If you look to the sky at night you can see the mysterious night sky ablaze in the monthly forest fires.

WHERE DID THE NAME COME FROM?

No one actually knows where the name California came from. Some say it came from a lonely Mexican named El Californus. Others say they don’t have time to care since they’re busy writing the new script for the Gilligan’s Island movie update.

CLIMATE

California is known for it’s warm climate. Every day is 80 degrees with a chance of becoming a snob.

CLIMATE EVENTS

- World Series Quake: named due to the fact that it tried to make a baseball game interesting, this powerful 6.9 earthquake killed 67 people and injured countless talent agents and hairdressers.

- Angora Fire: a huge wildfire that caused a ton of damage and hurt many peoples feelings. No one knows what caused this massive fire, but some believe that it was due to Ben Affleck’s career going down in flames.

TOURIST ATTRACTIONS

Disneyland: Where kids go to be scared by teenagers wearing big mouse heads. It is also the place that every quarterback visits after winning the Super Bowl.

Redwood National Park: Home to the beautiful Redwood Trees. These tall and majestic trees will soon be making way for a parking deck and a new convenience store/McDonald’s combo.

Hollywood: Where people go to live their dreams just to end up becoming alcoholics who drink their pain away every Friday night.

HISTORY

1848: The gold rush. Many people came to this new land after gold was discovered. Most ended up going back home and begging for their old dry-cleaning jobs back.

1869: the east is connected to California by railroad. Most trains are not allowed in, mainly because they weren’t good enough and didn’t follow the “in” crowd.

1908: the first movie starts production in California. The movie was met with luke warm reviews from the first movie critics. Most giving it one thumb up and one thumb down. Others maintain that these moving pictures will never take over as a new form of entertainment. Still others maintain that by making these “movies,” this will allow Dane Cook to somehow have a career.

1977: the personal computer is invented by who knows who. This event is frowned upon solely because it allowed pointless and stupid blogs to be invented, such as this one.

2008: Homosexuals are allowed to get married. When asked why they wanted to so badly, most homosexuals say they just want the chance to get a divorce like everyone else.

DEMOGRAPHIC

No one knows the exact population of California. Many are murdered everyday by robots who look like humans who come from the future. The governor has since passed a law making it illegal for robots to murder humans, known as the dreaded “Terminator Law.”

RACES

White: 52%

Black: 22%

Hispanic: 12%

Movie Stars: 11%

People Who Want to be Movie Stars: 18%

Failures: 78%

MAJOR CITIES

Los Angeles: A city full of broken dreams and shattered ash treys. It boasts the highest washed out movie star to normal person ratio in the country.

San Francisco: This city is known for its bridge and for the fact that the entire city comes in all colors of the rainbow. A city where men can hold other men’s hands and the heterosexual are beaten and have objects hurled at them. Most are never hurt however, since the citizens of San Francisco throw like girls.

Sacramento: No one knows how exactly this city became the capital. Many believe it knows somebody who knows somebody.

EDUCATION

25% liked the book better

75% liked the movie better because they didn’t have to read

RECREATION

Many Californians spend their off time reading movie scripts or writing movie scripts. Others become actors and spend their time trying to convince everyone that they aren’t gay. They do this by jumping on couches and forcing a younger woman from a sappy teenage drama show to marry them.

STATS AND FUN FACTS

State flower: golden poppy

Motto: Eureka! This is also the exact same phrase that Nicholas Cage utters when someone else thinks he can carry a movie.

More turkeys are raised in California then any other state. This is the only thing keeping the rest of the United States from pushing California out to sea.

There is a law in Pacific Grove that fines someone $500 for molesting a butterfly. I have no joke here since sometimes the truth is much more funny.

It is known as the Golden State. This is because the entire state was gold plated in 1992.

FAMOUSE CALIFORNIANS

Robert Frost: a poet. No one knows how he died. It is widely believed that he just got lost when he came to a fork in the road, choosing to take the path less traveled.

Leonardo DiCaprio: A passenger on the ill fated Titanic. Best known for drawing some chick naked and then drowning to let her live. Also known for taking a historical event and somehow ruining it by making it mainly about a love story. See also Pearl Harbor.

George Lucas: created an entire universe for which nerds can get lost in and pretend they have a purpose in life. Most believe Lucas to be some sort of god. Others spend their days on the internet, typing in their blogs about how much better the original Star War movies were than the newer ones.

Tiger Woods: an up and coming golfer. Mark my words, if he keeps practicing, he’ll be good someday.

Marilyn Monroe: An advocate for covers over huge vents. She was crucial in showing how dangerous they could be if you wore a dress.

Walt Disney: mostly known for having a funny name, he is now more famously known for creating a universe where parents could leave their kids to be raised by cartoons.
