Who the hell is Sir Alan Sugar?

No bloody idea, never heard of him.

IS he related to Nigel Nobody?

One way to find out, 7 tonight.

Being a BIG Donald Trump the Apprentice fan, it will be good to compare notes.

The Big T did some great in program sponsorship corss promotion and killed the ratings.

It will be good to see what the OZ marketers and promo people pull together.

I just hope Sugar pants has the charisma and presence which will be needed to pull this off.

I am sick of second rate Australian knock off programming.

FYI, turns out it is a second run cheap UK version, I thought it was an OZ version, although I doubt that will happen, as the return based on our market size would be negligible.

Seven did do some simple experiential promo work tonight, I got some free lollies from a cute girl in a Seven T shirt walking past Sydney's central station.

We’re sure you’ve heard about Johnny Carson’s former “Tonight Show” si

We're sure you've heard about Johnny Carson's former "Tonight Show" side-kick Ed McMahon's financial troubles and the near foreclosure of his Beverly Hills estate.

You've probably also heard the news that Donald Trump offered to buy McMahon's house and let him continue to live there.

Now the news is that the home was sold, but not to Trump. When the sale is complete, the McMahons will move on to live somewhere else.

The home was offered for $4.6 million, marked down from an original asking price of $7 million. McMahon had apparently taken out a loan of $4.8 million to buy the home in 1990. According to CNN.com, he was $644,000 in arrears.

The home is located at 12000 Crest Court, Beverly Hills, CA 90210. According to the website of real estate agent Alex Davis, the house is 7,013 square feet and on a 14,736 square foot lot with ocean views.

The agent's website notes that "The foreign imported doors and meticulously chosen fireplaces are unlike any other. The master suite with his and hers baths and closets, overlooks the yard and sweeping canyon."

It is an amazing home -- and you can see pictures of the house here and here.

Just this week, the New York Times published an article on the trend toward real estate downsizing by the wealthy in Los Angeles. The article focused on Candy Spelling, widow of the television producer Aaron Spelling, who is downsizing from a 56,500-square-foot French chateau-style home called The Manor (compete with a wine-tasting room, a bowling alley, a silver room, a china room and a gift-wrapping room) to a $47 million, 16,500 square foot condominium.

Perhaps Ed McMahon read the article and thought "Gee, if Candy Spelling can move into a condo, maybe I can, too."

It is nice to know that there is a solution to the Beverly Hills housing crisis.

Donald Trump announced yesterday that he would be buying Ed McMahon’s home for an undisclosed

Donald Trump announced yesterday that he would be buying Ed McMahon's home for an undisclosed amount and that he would be leasing the home back to McMahon. Ed McMahon owes $4.8 million on a mortgage to Countrywide. McMahon's home was listed at $7 million but the price was recently reduced to $4.6 million which means that they are ready to do a short sale on the property which would explain "The Donald's" sudden interest in the property. I'm sure he is trying to pick it up at a discount of about 30-50% which means he is not the savior he is trying to protray himself as. Donald Trump is a vulture. If he is really so "kind" why isn't Trump helping ordinary people in ordinary homes. He could save quite a few homes for $2.3 million. It's because he's buying McMahon's in a short sale at a steal.

Ed McMahon is suppose to be leasing the property back from Trump but if McMahon couldn't afford the mortgage payment how is he going to be able to afford to lease it from Trump? I am glad that his home will not be foreclosed upon but I can't help but imagine him being evicted when he can't pay his monthly rent. McMahon and his wife need to live within their means. They need to move into a home that they can afford. They probably are doing all they can just to keep the light bill paid. Unless the rent is free, I don't see how this will help the McMahon's, other than buy them a little more time. Or maybe Trump is counting on McMahon not living that long. I don't know. What I do know is, Trump isn't known for helping people. He is known for taking advantage of people.

Now what is Ed going to do about all the other lawsuits? Westmoore Funding is suing him for $275K. His daughters divorce attorney is suing him for $275K too. Citibank is suing Ed McMahon for about $200K too. Mickey Fine Pharmancy is suing him for $8,200.

I hope that Ed McMahon will be able to afford to stay in his home, but I can't see how. He's behind on everything. Hopefully it works out.

Have a Great Day,

Guess what??? Or better yet, why lyrics to a dream sequence-like song?!

I've reached a milestone- 5,000 total hits on my blog! Not bad considering it's only been in play since March. To celebrate, I will do what I always do, and perform some kind of embarrassing dance move in public. My selection is...the 'Carlton' from 'Fresh Prince of Bel Air.' You know you love it. Now enjoy.

On a completely random note, I went to a swanky biz lunch today at Sixteen, the restaurant in the Trump Hotel downtown. It was the sickness (that's a good thing). I had corn chowder with roasted red peppers and salmon with cous cous. Major yums.

A) Sentir que levou um banho de água fria e perder todo o entusiasmo;
B) Pensar que os outros talvez tenham razão;

Recently, the readers of BusinessWeek magazine voted Bill Zanker “the world’s most competitive business leader.”

I do not know whether that is true as I know many fierce competitors. I am honored all the same, because I pride myself on my competitiveness and my drive to transcend the ordinary. You have to constantly challenge yourself to achieve greater and greater accomplishments.

To do that, you have to leave your comfort zone. I have become one of the biggest developers in New York. There is tremendous competition in New York, so I am always on my tows and always trying to do better, I also compete with myself. I keep challenging myself to move forward and to maintain my momentum. I always strive to do things better, no matter how much success I may have achieved. For example, the Trump brand is now one of the most recognizable and valuable trademarks. It is synonymous with the very best things in life. When I was looking for a brand of vodka to bear the Trump trademark, I wanted only the finest, superpremium vodka, and I wanted to deliver the product to consumers in the style worthy of the Trump trademark. I found that vodka. I did the same with the Trump lime of shirts, ties, and suits sold at Macy’s, and they are all doing very well. I push myself to deliver the very best in everything I do because it has my name on it.

Somebody once asked me why I am never satisfied with where I am in life. It is simple: that is not who I am. If I were satisfied, I would not be Donald Trump. I found out from experience that it doesn’t work form me. If you rest on your laurels, you are through. In the late 80s I thought I had made it big and did not have to work hard anymore. I quickly learned that the world is a changing place. You cannot stand still. If you do, life will pass you by.

I like to live my life on the cutting edge of progress - not for the money but for the sheer joy of participation. I would never give that up. I have noticed that the real estate people never retire. They just keep making deals and fixing up their properties even into their eighties and nineties.

For some reason they never retire. When you think about it, it must be their love for their work.

I've been noticing a funny trend. People who drink coke light are successful. I noticed that some of the most successful people that I consider successful (?) drink coke :

- Donald Trump, real estate guru and all round ass kicker (favourite drink is coke light, infact I think that's all he drinks)

- Warren Buffett, richest man in the world (loves cherry coke, always has a cherry coke in his hand)

Someone we know just won the lottery here in Australia. At least this proves it is not an urban myth

Someone we know just won the lottery here in Australia. At least this proves it is not an urban myth!
But a lottery win is not a financial plan - and for most of us, we can't rely on luck for our financial future. We need to make active choices every month to make the most of the money we have, and make sure we are financially secure for the future. With the financial doom and gloom in the media at the moment, you need to know that you CAN make a difference to your financial situation with some behavioural change.

Here are some of the top tips to help your with the finances:

Put aside 10% of your income (before bills) every time you are paid. It doesn't matter how much this is, but put it aside into a "Cash - don't touch" account. It will build up and you can use it as a basis for investment. You also have a buffer for tough times and unexpected situations.

Be aware of your spending. Try keeping a budget and record receipts, even just for a week. If you add up those coffees and lunches out, you will see how much you are spending. There are some great free tools and information for budgeting at this site http://www.secretbudget.net/about/about/budgeting-tips.html

Declutter your life and sell it on eBay. Be ruthless and go through your stuff. Do you really need those clothes or the clutter in the garaage? Go through it all and sell what you can, and give the rest to charity. Put the money from the sale into your 10% account for investments. Warning: do not browse the For Sale at the same time as selling!

Get educated about finance and investment. If you don't know anything about money, except that you need it, then you need to do some reading! I recommend "Rich Dad, Poor Dad" by Robert Kiyosaki as a good start to understanding money - or "Why we want you to be rich" by Kiyosaki and Trump.

Don't watch adverts or become a victim for specials and sales. You will spend money you don't need to because it sounds like a bargain. This tip and 27 others can be found at http://www.marcandangel.com/2008/07/17/28-unique-bits-of-financial-brilliance/

“People of the world — look at Berlin, where a wall came down, a continent came together

"People of the world -- look at Berlin, where a wall came down, a continent came together, and history proved that there is no challenge too great for a world that stands as one," Obama said at Berlin's Victory Column in the Tiergarten park.

"The fall of the Berlin Wall brought new hope. But that very closeness has given rise to new dangers -- dangers that cannot be contained within the borders of a country or by the distance of an ocean," he said.

Obama said people of all nations must stand together to face challenges of the 21st century -- from terrorism to global warming to genocide.

"We cannot afford to be divided. No one nation, no matter how large or powerful, can defeat such challenges alone. None of us can deny these threats or escape responsibility in meeting them," he said.

Obama uses Berlin symbolism to reunite old allies - CNN.com.

And so the world's introduction to Obama to complete. Now pretty much everyone knows who he is and what he stands for.

At least for those outside the U.S. Inside the U.S. there is still plenty of work being done to reduce his candidacy and the man himself to a simple concept. A basic label. This process is now complete.

Obama is "The One".

Yup. The Annointed One. The Saviour of All that is Good and Holy.

Not a bad label, really, when you compare it to some of the previous attempts.

Much of this was solidified by his speech last week in Berlin.

More on this one later. As with many things that illicit a strong reaction, this one is probably best processed personally.

Update: 8/7/08...just got back from driving across the country with a friend who was moving across the country.

Read more for some analysis...

So I haven't had a chance to update the site and/or finish this post. After reviewing the week's news and laughing consistently at the coverage, I watched the speech again and noted that Obama "played the race card" in this speech at the beginning for a laught. I put "played the race card" in quotes because IT'S A GODDAM STUPID THING TO SAY, and is a way overused label in the political analysts tool bag. Heck, in some of them it's the only tool.

The race card is only a negative when used as a victim. As in, excuse this because of this. It's like playing any number of card games...it's a trump card. It ends the hand or the trick or whatever.

That's not what's happening when Big O mentions that he looks different that other Presidential candidates. What he is doing is laying his hand on the table (it's about a minute into the speech). That's a far cry from trying to play a trump card. He thinks he's got a good enough hand to win as it is. No trump needed.

UPDATE AGAIN:

I was just perusing some of the comment on the YouTube video. YouTube is fairly infamous for having ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE discussions. However, in a few months, this stuff will get you a visit from the SS.

airbat71 (1 hour ago) Show Hide

You stupid SON OF A BITCHES if you vote for Obama just let Bin Laden come be our President it would be the same thing DUMB ASSES!!! Obama needs to take a bullet!!!

Really. The secret service is going to have to double in size if Obama gets elected. Or something along those lines. Damn...I hate having to keep pointing out this stuff....I hate to be right about something so bad.

But yeah...it's going to be close if he wins.

Remember folks, even rich-white men with deep family roots have a 9% chance of being assassinated as U.S. Presidents....and a good 25% of so had pretty serious (public) attempts taken.

And remember, I'm a fucking ninja, I know about this kind of stuff.
