This mashup was inspired by a somewhat lame past-time of mine: watching funny music videos on Youtube while listening to my own music.  The results are often quite magical, as I think you'll see below.

When I was in Brazil this past winter and my cousins found out I was a DJ, they asked me if I liked to go to "havs" and I had no idea what the hell they were talking about until I realized that R's sound like H's in portuguese and they were trying to say "raves".  Of course, the answer is yes. EMPHATICALLY RIGHT?! but anyway, wtf happened to all the raves donkey?? My boy Kenji just got back from Burning Man out in the West Coast desert (Cali? or Nevada?) and was telling me all about it and I'm like either I'm not hip to dip to know where the underground shit is at - friends in NYC, where the raves at?? - or maybe I gotta start lookin elsewhere... anyway, let these tunes wash over you like water poured on an e-tard standing in front of the speakers at 3 am:

Cela faisait un moment qu'il fallait que je clame mon amour pour Caravan Palace, car après avoir été émerveillé par leur habile mélange entre jazz manouche et électro sur leur myspace (album à paraître en octobre), je suis allé les voir au Paris Jazz Festival. Verdict: Une tuerie! Django Reinhardt et Vitalic sur la même scène! Alors plutôt que d'en parler 3 heures, matte moi cette vidéo mon ami et savoure... Et si tu as été convaincu de ma bonne parole, file au festival FNAC Indétendances de Paris Plages car ils jouent demain vendredi 15 août à 19h20 sous le pont de Sully.

En bonus, le clip de Jolie Coquine dansé par Christopher Walken lui-même!

nb : Cet été, Cyrille-Aimée remplace Colotis Zoé sur toutes les dates, ça fait une raison de plus pour retourner les voir à la rentrée!

Le premier festival de l’année 2008 : les Artesfacts de Strasbourg

La programmation du vendredi me semblait super bien lors de l’achat de mon billet. Malheureusement, la semaine avant le festival, Pete Dorerty avait décidé autrement : il a fini à la case prison. Pas grave, on fera la fête sans lui : Gogo Bordello, BB Brunes, Serj Takian, Birdy Nam Nam, Justice et Vitalic sauront mettre le feu au Zénith.

J’arrive sur place au moment du concert de BB Brunes, (les bouchons m’ont fait rater Gogo Bordello), pas très emballé je vais regarder ca de loin dans les tribunes en attendant Serj Takian.

Enfin, le concert de Serj Takian. Il débute sur une chanson lente et aigue, puis les autres chansons gardent le même esprit politique que ceux que nous connaisons de SOAD. Pour avoir vu System of a down en 2002, je n’accrochais pas vraiement, la voix était là, mais il manquait quelque chose.

Après ca, je suis aller me prendre un hot-dog. Donc j’attend dans la file pendant 20 min, j’arrive presque devant, et hop une chute de tension. Je m’assoie, puis je m’avancer et hoooh ca tourne, bon je me rassois, j’appel Emily pour quelle me récupere. Heureusement que Frank, a commandé pour moi, encore milles merci  Décidément, je crois que chaque fois que je vois Serj Takian, j’ai une chute de tension...

Agréable surprise, pour le concert électro de Birdy Nam Nam. Super rythmé, bien enchaîné, l’installation visuelle niquel. Toute la salle vibrait et reclamait les Birdy Nam Nam !!!

Pendant la pause, il y avait un jeune homme qui proposait des « free hugs »  très bonne idée !

Et, JUSTICE ! Dans la fosse, ca a dechiré !! Ca sautait, pogotait et slamait de partout !!

Vitalic était l’avant dernier concert. Emily et Frank ont bien kiffé et ont bien dansé. Fatiguée, j’ai moins accroché, donc je suis partie me reposer... (oué j’ai fait ma mamie, mais la fosse c’est fatiguant !)

C’est fou le monde que l’on revoit. Céd, dont j’avais encore vu sur les photos récamment en Martinique se tenait au stand Heiniken, « héin, qu’est tu fais la ? », mais fidèle à lui même >> stand bière. Damien (Bembou), que j’avais plus vu depuis le BAC. Eduardo, toujours là quand on s’y attends le moins (L’Osophère, Living...), Franzi et Audrey... c’est dingue que le monde est petit !!!

Vitalic (born as Pascal Arbez in 1976) is an electronic music artist. He was born in France and is of Italian descent.

His first singles were released in 1996 and 1997, but were confined to the underground electronic music scene. However, he became good friends with Michel Amato, a.k.a. The Hacker, whom he met in the Rex, the "techno temple" of Laurent Garnier. The Hacker suggested he send his new tracks to DJ Hell, head of Gigolo records in Munich. Pascal did so, and International DeeJay Gigolo Records, released the well known Poney EP in 2001, which was a huge success shortly after its release. With the track "La Rock 01", Vitalic created a club anthem which was a hit in the summer of 2001. The track was also included on many compilation albums, even rock compilations.

In 2005, Vitalic's debut album, OK Cowboy was released on Different/Pias. Pascal states that all of the instruments used in the album are synthesized. His official website states that "the only thing he can't fake is the emotion that galvanizes his music."

La lutte contre le concert et la pauvreté est défendue par beacoup d'artistes. Solidays pour cet occasion  réunis 80 artistes le 4, 5 et 6 Juillet 2008 sur l'Hyppodrome de Longchamp. Aprés 10 ans, le festival propose toujours une trés belle programation par rapport au prix 30Euros :D! et l'ambiance. Les réservations commencent le 18 Avril!
