At an auction in Edinburough, Scotland 35 original poems of noted bad poet William Topaz McGonagall has out sold Harry Potter at an auction. A collector paid $12,840 for the self published 1890's work. This proves that if you do something badly, it can still be profitable. Unfortuantely you'll have to be dead for it to come to pass. The price paid beat out a collection of incribed Harry Potter books which were sold at the same auction for $12,000. McGonagall's lack of talent was matched only by his delusion and ego. Along with the 35 poems were a portfolio of posters and two copies of his rather short autobiography - "dedicated to himself, knowing none greater." McGonagall was so bad that he kept an umbrella with him during recitals to shield him from all the rotten tomatoes that were thrown at him. Ah, poetry lovers. The buyer has remained anonymous because he doesn't want the ridicule of being identified as a fan. Personally, I'd be proud to show that I have a collection of the worst poetry known to mankind, but then, I like the Rocky Horror Picture show.

MAN TRIES TO SELL WIFE ON EBAY

Want to pick up a used...wife? High milage. Paul Osborn, a UK man, has tried to get rid of his wife by posting her for auction on Ebay! It's official, you really can find anything on Ebay. Osborn found out his wife, Sharon was cheating on him with a co-worker. It was Osborn's way of letting the world know she was an adulterous, lying, cheating, well, you get the idea. In the listing he suggest that people not bid on her as she's apparently not worth diddly in his opinion. I can't say as I blame him. He also has given out the name of her lover, Richard Drew who is also married along with his address, and phone number. Ebay was rather prompt in taking the auction down, probably because they weren't going to make anything on the auction. Minimum bid, a pence. If he would have been able to complete the auction, it might have saved him some divorce costs. I wish I'd have thought of this for my Ex.

CHARLES BARKLEY GAMBLING DEBT

Wow, former NBA star Charles Barkley owes a casino in Vegas $400,000! Now I'm sure athletes are overpaid. People jump out of windows for things like that. The casino has made repeated calls to Barkley trying to get the debt paid, but he didn't respond. It took a call from the local prosecutor to get him to own up. He now says he'll pay the debt since he's "not broke." Did he think they were just going to forget about it? People have ended up in umarked graves for less. Over the years Barkley estimates he's gambled away over $10 million. "Do I have a gambling problem? Yeah, I do have a gambling problem," Barkley said. "But i don't consider it a problem because I can afford to gamble." Well, not paying your debts makes it look like you can't afford it. Just remember if a couple of guys named Guido start hanging around, you HAVE a problem.

 DOES YOUR VODKA BOTTLE TALK?

 Do you drink alone? Do you prefer to be by yourself? Well, the Russians have come up with a cure for that. it's the vodka bottle that talks back. The BBC is reporting that Russians are about to begin marketing a brand of vodka with a bottle that talks. I've always felt that if my bottle is talking, it's time to go home. Welcome to the alcoholically induced world of microprocessors. You've got to love those crazy Russians. Yes, now you can have a drinking buddy in a bottle. Apparently when ever you open the top, it's the top that talks, it will offer a variety of Russian toasts and encourage you to drink up. Personally I've never needed much encouragement. Now here's the fun part. The more the top is opened the more the bottle's speech becomes slurred. Yes your bottle gets drunk with you. The perfect date.  When the bottle's empty, you've outdrank your buddy. Hopefully he's not the one driving home.

Last night, Whitney Thompson was named the winner of cycle 10 of America's Next Top Model. She was the first "plus-sized" model (meaning she weighs more than 100 pounds) to win the crown since the show began in 2003. It was seen as a monumental step for the modeling industry, according to the show's creator, Tyra Banks.

This got me thinking that it was about time "plus-sized" athletes got the recognition they deserve. The following athletes have managed to succeed in their sports despite weighing nearly as much as an 18-wheeler. In no particular order, here are three of the best "plus-sized" athletes of all time.

Cecil Fielder: Cecil, also known as "Big Daddy" is one of the largest men ever to grace the baseball field. His listed weight on baseballreference.com is 240, but the 6-foot-3 first baseman was pushing 300 by the time he retired in 1998. Fielder excelled despite a penchant for hot dogs, making the All-Star team 3 times and leading the Major Leagues with 51 homeruns and 132 RBI for the Blue Jays in 1991. Fielder is unique in the fact that his girth wasn't a result of getting out of shape in his later years. He was fat when he came into the league and fat when he left it. Oh, I'm sorry, "plus-sized."

P.S.- Cecil's son, Prince, is not afraid of the cheeseburgers either.

Kevin Duckworth: This guy, again under-listed at 275 pounds , made an immediate impact in the league as a true center for the Portland Trailblazers in 1987-88. The 7-footer averaged over 15 points per game for four straight years until the Cinnabons got to him. As his scoring average went down over the next six years, his weight went up, leading to this flattering picture in his final year in the league with the lowly Los Angeles Clippers.

William "The Refrigerator" Perry: One of the most popular "plus-sizers" of all-time, the Fridge embraced his hefty nature from Day One, using his considerable size to become an effective player on both sides of the ball. He was also on the 1985 Superbowl Champion Chicago Bears team who entered into legendary status with the greatest sports-related rap in music history. (Yes, I've been waiting for an excuse to put this video up, the Fridge blesses the mic around 4:42)

Congratulations to Whitney and the three athletes above for opening doors for "plus-sized" people in both the sports and modeling world. Hopefully these two worlds never collide, although it would be interesting to see a spread of Big Daddy, The Duck, and The Fridge in this year's Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition. William is growing up so fast. He has recently discovered that he has vocal chords that can make some really fun and loud noises. I'm going to try to get Jason to put a short video up that showcases his new talent. Last week he started eating rice cereal and absolutely loves it. He gets mad if I'm not fast enough with the spoon and is quite a messy eater. I'm not sure if it is the cereal or William just getting older, but the past couple nights have been fantastic...he slept 9 hours on Monday night and almost 8 hours last night. I am praying that he keeps this up! It was amazing getting about 6 1/2 hours of sleep Monday. Too bad Jason and I both woke up at 4:30 because we heard some strange noises over the monitor and went in to check on him, only to wake him. Oh well, it was still the best night's sleep William has ever had!  I am excited that he is finally interested in toys. He can hold onto them and is really good at bringing everything and anything to his mouth. Yesterday he was playing with "Mr. Waddles" the stuffed duck and decided to chew on his beak! Wish I would have had the camera ready for that! Unfortunately, just about every time we get the camera out, he stops whatever cute thing he was doing to stare at the camera. William is also very excited about his future girlfriend. Congratulations Brian and Libby! We are so excited for you to join the "Baby Club"!

On April 27th, Jason and I celebrated 6 years of marriage. (Talk about time flying!!) My sister was in town and graciously offered to watch William overnight so that we could get away to celebrate. As much as we love our little guy, it was so nice to go out and just be a couple and reconnect. Unfortunately, William decided that that was the day he would get his first rash! We ended up rushing him to the doctor's the next  morning after we got a call from my sister that his rash spread and covered him from head to toe! Poor thing...it was really quite a sight and turned out to be nothing! I guess he was just mad at us for leaving him for a night :-)

Well it has been an eventful few weeks with our family. I promise to try to update everyone more often...but please forgive me if I get busy!

It wasn't too many years ago that the political persuasions of artists such as Rage Against the Machine and N.W.A. caused controversy across the nation for their less-than-subtle lyrics about government-related activities in this country. It seems strange to me that music has come full-circle from the political artists of the 80's and 90's proclaiming their anti-establishment views to actually penning campaign songs for the latest presidential candidates. Is this really an un-selfish act of pure support or an incredible business move on the part of these musicians and songwriters?

I do realize the gravity of this election and the impact that it will have on all sorts of varieties of activism, but I do wonder how sincere all of these "budding artists" really are in their undying support of Barack Obama. Having a very crude knowledge of politics myself, these thoughts are merely speculation, but I believe that this should be some serious food for thought for all of the easily influenced voters out there. Call me cynical, but it seems a pretty far stretch from the "F**k the Police" of my generation to the sudden unbridled love of American politics in this 2008 Presidential Election. I mean, I enjoy "We Are The World" spoofs just as much as the next guy, but this is just a little too close to the repeat button for my taste.

Whether you support her or not, you have to give her credit for not giving up easily. Hillary spent Mother's Day in West Virginia in a effort to take that state's primary on Tuesday. Obama spent the weekend in Chicago counting his chickens before they've hatched by planning his post convention campaign. Clinton is currently the picture of tenacity as she continues in a campaign that many have declared officially dead. She has stated that she is in it until June and it appears that she means it. One thing's for sure, Hillary is going down swinging if she goes down at all. She may surprise everyone by having a political near death experience. Everybody out of the way. Charge up the pads. Clear. We've got a heartbeat.

MAN KILLS NEIGHBOR OVER PLAYSTATION

Edward Stoddard Jr. from Land O Lakes, Florida, suspected his neighbor, Douglas Abrams of borrowing his Playstation 3. The two apparently argued over it and Stoddard shot Abrams, killing him. I would say this guy needed to get a life but now that's not an option. He's currently housed in the Dade County lockup awaiting trial. Well I bet he won't get his PS3 in prison. He's going to learn about a brand new game, It's called "Bend over I'll drive." The graphics are very realistic.

NEIL YOUNG SPIDER

Neil Young has had a spider named after him. An East Carolina University biologist named Bond, Jason Bond, has discovered a new species of Trap Door Spider and has named it after his favorite musician, Myrmekiaphila neilyoungi. Why a trap door spider reminds him of Neil Young has eluded me but hey it's a nice gesture anyway.  Bond says that spiders are determined from one species to the next by differences in their genitalia. Now I'm really lost as to what this has to do with Neil Young. Is he an exgroupie? Does he know something about Neil the rest of us don't? It make you want to go HMMMM. 

BATMOBILE ON EBAY

Apparently the Tim Burton Batmobile is going up for auction on Ebay for half a mil. It can't be coincidence that this is just in time for the release of the new Batman movie "the Dark Knight." Yes, you can now cruise around pretending that You, Yes, you can be the caped crusader. Now if you can get one of your friends to don the idiot tights of Robin you can hit the bars. It should send all the girls to you because they certainly aren't going to him. Buy a beer for the "Wingman."

DOG FOUND IN TRUCK ENGINE

I may know whay you vehicle has been running doggy lately. Have you ever opend up the hood of your vehicle and found a ...dog? Squirrels, chipmunks, I've come across a lot of small critters in there but never a dog. Walter Witthoef opened the hood of his F-150 and there staring at him was a stuck pit bull terrier. He had somehow wriggled his way into the back of the engine and was impatiently waiting for someone to let him out or give him a biscuit. To amuse himself while he waited, he sat and chewed on everything in sight. Ah boredom. Animal services arrived and freed the dog who was then reunited with his owner, none the worse for wear. Next time your vehicle won't start, check the plugs, check the wires and don't forget to look for the dog.

It might, however, be Juliana (#160--that's my Confirmation name), Liliana (#151--a version of my mother's name), Mabel (because it's so old-school it's like a great-great-great grandma name, which is much more badass than just a grandma name), Luciana (#828), or Graciela (#979). Or Kenyon (my grandmother's maiden name).

And if it were a boy? I'm going with "WhatthefuckamIgoingtodowithaboy Benincasa-Donnelly." Or Kenyon. Seamus (#754) rules because it's like a crazy old Irish fisherman name. Atticus (#683) is cool because of that badass book, but that's like some name that self-aggrandizing, cheesy Brooklyn male writers give their children that they have two years after they make it big. Finnegan (#653) is a great name, but it's an Irish last name, and it's also my friend Kambri's husband's last name, and how creepy would THAT be if you were my friend and I was all of a sudden like, "Oh, BY THE WAY, I'll be naming my son after the last name of your boyfriend/husband...NO REASON, JUST LIKE THE NAME IS ALL!" I also like the name Westin, but it's the name of a hotel chain, and Weston is the last name of my friend Diana Saez's husband Sam, so there's that creepy ish all over again. Cedric (#590) is awesome but it is the name of a gay old British man, or a black kid on your junior high basketball team (not the best kid on the team, but a player with a lot of hustle), or my comedy friend Carla Rhodes' ventriloquist doll, so again, out. Theo Will.i.am, cũng như việc Black Eyed Peas nổi tiếng ở Brazil, anh cho rằng Se7en và Rain hay bất cứ ca sỹ người Hàn Quốc nào khác có thể ra mắt thành công tại Mỹ.

“I don’t have a reason why Se7en and Rain can’t be popular in the US,” said Black Eyed Peas member and producer Will.i.am, who was one of the speakers of Day 2 of the SBS-sponsored “Seoul Digital Forum 2008,” which was held today, May 7, at the Sheraton Walker Hill Hotel. Will.i.am was a speaker for one of today’s sessions entitled “Entertainment, At the Forefront of Imagination.”

According to Will.i.am, if Black Eyed Peas is getting popular in Brazil, he does not see it impossible for Se7en and Rain or any of the Korean singers debuting in the US to be popular in the said country.

“But Korean singers are still not known in the US. If up-and-coming Korean singers collaborate with famous producers in the US, there’s a high possibility for them to succeed,” added Will.i.am.
