BET today announced that nominee MVP Lil' Wayne, multi-platinum rapper Ludacris, West Coast boss The Game, and dirty south stunner Young Jeezy will top off an all-star roster of performers, including Common, T-Pain, Lady of Rage and N.E.R.D. Delivering nothing less than an electrifying show, the BET HIP HOP AWARDS will take place at Atlanta's Civic Center on Saturday, October 18 and premiere on BET Thursday, October 23 at 8:00 p.m.*

Showcasing past and present music icons, this year's BET HIP HOP AWARDS takes the competition to a whole new level with scheduled appearances by a slew of hip hop heavyweights including GZA, Wu-Tang Clan, Raekwon, Masta Killa, U-God, Inspectah Deck and RZA. Adding to the hype, rapper Jadakiss will pump up the crowd as celebrity announcer, while the famed DJ Drama spins all night. A special tribute will also be paid to female pioneers in hip hop who have paved the way for women in a predominantly male industry.

As previously announced, actor/comedian Katt Williams will host the BET HIP HOP AWARDS, and legendary hip-hop veteran Russell Simmons will be honored with the "I Am Hip Hop" Icon Award.

I actually meant to make this post Tuesday, as music comes out on that day, and I think its cute to

I actually meant to make this post Tuesday, as music comes out on that day, and I think its cute to have daily themes LOL. Well I didn't make it due to business, but more so a lack of material... Hip hop always slows down for the cold winter--that's when the hot fire comes out so expect some nice albums.

Speaking of nice albums, "The Recession" Young Jeezy's "new" is really sick. I was a little late on Jeezy cause he came after the young/yung movement and I figured he was a really bad artist... Well he is, but he is extremely entertaining, plus he enjoys his craft a lot (it's evident in his charisma and ad libs... YEEEAAAHHHHHHH). As a result, I am now a Jeezy fan to the core. Actually, Jeezy has gotten a lot better which is has been a blessing to hear because takes away from the terribleness and mixes lyrics with Jeezy's normal hilarity.

I'm not a fan of too many of the beats on the album, so to me"The Recession" is pretty much carried by the lyrics. Aside: Jeezy is one of the realest rappers, while I don't agree with what he does/has done, I don't think I will have to hear about him being a snitch, corrections officer, or scholar. I have a fundamental problem with people who know better contributing to the detriment of the black community. Jeezy doesn't know better but isn't too bad an example... save the trapstar image(HAHAAA). About eight songs were super unpolished and lacked the full development of the professional production of Don Cannon, Drumma Boy, J.U.S.T.I.C.E. League or Shawty Redd. I love My President is Black produced by Tha Bizness and is the only beat that I like not made by any of the aforementioned producers. All in all, an above average album from an average (at absolute best rapper)... I'm happy.

Now on to the actual music. Note: If you see underlined text there is a download or streaming link to hear the music! (So also the above, My President is Black is streamable.)

T-Pain has a "new" track featuring Ludacirs Chopped & Screwed. As my buddy Luebab, said "it's one of those songs that after you listen to it once you have to listen again."

Saigon lost me after he did the Letter P freestyle back in 2005, but he has a track called C'mon Baby which he remixed with Jay-Z. The beat is insane and Jay kills it. It is not new but most people probably haven't heard it so check it out.

In more lateness, Kanye has premiered the video to Love Lockdown... I saw it about three days ago, but like I said, I wanted good material and couldn't post it by itself. Plus who cares who is first and "trendsetting" anyways? Here it is:

Interesting video. I find it extremely suggestive LOL.

To answer the question who cares about being first and trendsetting... I do. Recently, I have heard a bunch of people bumping M.I.A's Paper Planes track since Pineapple express, Swagger Like Us, and DJ Noodles "Paper Planes" mixtape... Well that song is over a year old, but to help you out, M.I.A has a new track featuring Jay-Z called Boyz so you don't have to be late! You're Welcome.

Switching to non-hip hop, Franz Ferdinand has a new song Lucid Dreams, and I happen to think it's hot. If you remember them they did Take Me Out (not a streaming link) and had another album, with another single that I didn't too much care for. I like these guys and their music, so take a listen.

Finally, more lateness! I love this video and the catchy little song... Justice D.A.N.C.E (fire):

I hope you're happy I waited till Thursday, just for you. Much better music came from the delay and utter lateness of some of the music. Dang music posts are hard to do...

Salute

Faktiskt.

My Hood med Young Jeezy, alltså.

The celebrities listed below this introduction were chosen because they have either been recently

The celebrities listed below this introduction were chosen because they have either been recently in the news or were run across in my non-scientific Internet search. A short explanation is given about some of their comments or actions in favor of Obama but please take it with a large grain of salt as it is in no way complete. In case someone asks, of course there are a small number of stars that support the John McCain / Sarah Palin ticket like Sylvester Stallone, John Voight, Ted Nugent and Charlie Daniels.

It is no secret that most Hollywood and music stars are liberals and have become a reliable source of campaign cash for Democratic candidates. So far according to the Center for Responsive Politics the music and entertainment industry has given over $ 5.6 million to the Obama presidential effort and donated $ 3.4 million to the Hillary Clinton campaign. How did John McCain fare you ask? His campaign has received $ 885,000, total.

Not included are many rap and hip-hop stars like 50 Cent, Chamillionare, Scarface, etc., because around 95% of their community supports Obama’s candidacy. To list them all would take forever. They support Obama by using clothes with Obama’s image on them on stage, by putting up Obama or Obama/Biden banners at their concerts, etc. Almost all speak favorably of the candidate and hope the more outspoken members of their community tone down their support for fear of alienating voters that do not understand what their music is about. Some artists have said they support and will vote for Obama because he is one of them. Others say he is the most qualified for the job with race having nothing to do with their decision. To say that they are excited about this election is an understatement!

Below the stars, more or less in alphabetical order, listed by their last name. Looking for Oprah? She’s under W for Winfrey. How about Jay-Z? He’s under C for Shawn Carter. Homer Simpson? Try S for Homer Simpson. Yes, even Homer tries to vote for Obama.

April 2008 after the ABC debate with Hillary Clinton, in a speech a few days later, Obama used the the motion of brushing dirt off his shoulder to make a point. Most people outside of the hip-hop community missed the significance of the gesture but it quickly became controversial. In a mater of days after the controversy that a presidential candidate for the first time ever used hip-hop inspired gestures during a speech had reached a crescendo, it was learned that the gesture could be related to a song by Jay-Z called “Dirt Off Your Shoulder”. And that is the number one reason why I am supporting him, ..my Senator, my favorite Senator, and my choice. He appeared twice on Oprah, in January 2005 and October 2006, before she gave him her formal endorsement. On September 25, 2006 Oprah, on Larry King Live, said she hoped Obama ran for President. May 2007 Oprah formally endorses Obama for President. September 8, 2007 Oprah hosted an Obama fundraiser for 1,500 guests, each one donating $ 2,300 to his campaign. From November 2007 to February 2008 Oprah campaigned with Obama in Iowa, South Carolina, New Hampshire and in California. Many opine it was Oprah that introduced Obama to white American women and because of her active support suffered a huge backlash that continues to these days. August 2008 she was at the DNC in Denver praising Obama’s acceptance speech. September 2008 two University of Maryland economists say Oprah’s endorsement has given Obama approximately 1 million votes he would not have gotten otherwise. September 2008 she asked her viewers to support Senate bill 1738 proposed by Senator Joe Biden and endorsed by Senator Barack Obama. September 2008 Oprah again said her staff had not brought up having Sarah Palin on her show but would like to have her on after the election. She has donated at least $ 2,300 to the Obama campaign.

Steve Wonder: September 8, 2007 he performed at the fundraiser Oprah Winfrey hosted for Obama. August 28, 2008 he sang the song “Signed Sealed Delivered” at the DNC in Denver. September 22, 2008 his song "Signed, Sealed, Delivered" forms part of the album "Yes We Can: Voices of a Grassroots Movement" the Obama/Biden campaign is selling over the Internet for $ 24.99.

Joanne Woodward: Has donated the maximum, $ 4,600, to the Obama campaign.

Sarah Wright: February 2, 2008 she appears on the video ”Yes We Can” inspired by a speech given by Obama in New Hampshire.

Malik Yusef: September 22, 2008 his colaborative song with Kanye West and Adam Levine "Promised Land" forms part of the album "Yes We Can: Voices of a Grassroots Movement" the Obama/Biden campaign is selling over the Internet for $ 24.99.

We've already discussed the cream of the music crop, each band offering something different in terms of creativity. This list, however, was much harder to put together. There is simply too much garbage floating around these days, it's hard to pick who sucks the worst. As with the previous list, I will pick only active "artists". Here are five groups that succeed in trivializing one of humanity's most beautiful accomplishments:

T-Pain. Since this little doosie of a hip-hop artist emerged in 2005, the airwaves have been flooded with his R&B style croonings. Mr. Pain is a big fan of the auto-tune, a vocal effect that is fairly self explanatory. By correcting errors in pitch, it turns a formerly talentless individual into a superstar. As a result, his live performances may be a little, shall we say, shitty. The auto-tune also provides him the ability to use the same effect Cher used on her 1998 song "Believe", which he has utilized in just about song of his that has reached the radio. We can only pray T-Pain will continue to prove you don't need to be able to sing to have a singing career for many years to come.

Pussycat Dolls. Congratulations, Pussycat Dolls! You have successfully set the women's rights movement back about twenty years! While these trashy young ladies are by no means the only pop group out there heavy in cleavage and light in talent, they surely seem to be forerunners of the "aesthetically pleasing slut" trend. The six members were originally a burlesque group that gained national recognition after a Maxim photo shoot. On a music producer's whim, they were converted into a pop group, despite a lack of any musical experience. So, what's worse than manufactured music with no creative intent? The fact that the public eats it up.

Angels & Airwaves. This is a particularly painful subject for Blink-182 fans. Blink guitarist and singer Tom Delonge's new band sounds great on record. Angelic vocal harmonization and layered instrumentation make for an interesting listen, but the group falls well short on stage. Simply put, it's impossible to replicate their sound live without several additional musicians, and Delonge's vocals are ridiculously pretentious and out of key. A good concept, but terrible delivery.

Young Jeezy. The epitome of why rap sucks. This whole drug-dealing thug mantra has to end. When rap was truly the product of life on the streets for inner-city blacks, hip-hop was an artistic way of channeling the negative energy into something positive. While Jeezy argues maintaining his "street cred" is number one on his list of musical priorities, the gangster image is nothing more than a commercial venture. One doesn't have to look much farther than Jeezy's sneaker commercial to deduce he probably isn't selling cocaine.

Paris Hilton. This woman is the biggest enigma in pop culture. She can't act, but has made millions as an actress. She has no business credentials, but is considered a coy businesswoman. By Hollywood standards, she could barely be considered attractive, but has a career as a model. She has absolutely no musical background but released an album that featured four wildly popular singles. How far can a home-made porn video take you? Apparently right to the top.

just so happened to be Jeezys new album title..

you would think that it would be a free mixtape download if the title is named something like "The Recession"...so being that we already DONT have much, and cant afford a few things here and there, we still would find it in our hearts to spend that $20 and make Jeezy and his label just a little richer to help them get through thier problems during the recession?

negative.

Anyway, Miami lost saturday night, but I still won my bet since I took the over in total points scored...Kimbo got his big ass chipped up by the homothug with pink hair....My Raiders had a bye week, so I actually had a chance to check out other teams today...im really not impressed with much of what I saw.

ehhh whatever, back to this recession bullshit...700 billion is alot Bush.

I never met you but I hate you.

I personally dont think much will change once Obama or McCain comes through, I pretty much run my own life and point no fingers to nobody but myself unlike many people I know (and I know are reading this)

Obama/McCain wont drop the price on the Challenger or Charger that I want.

Obama/McCain wont free my family of funeral costs that we have (as a family) to pay.

Obama/McCain will not give me a raise at work.

Obama/McCain wont free my brother from Annandale Youth Correction Facility.

Obama/McCain wont find me love.

Obama/McCain wont lower the price on condoms which are at an all time high now I think.

Obama/McCain cannot bring Guru & Premier back for 1 more Gang Starr tour.

Do you think Obama/McCain could help me out with paying for school?

Im actually just voting cause Jessica Alba needs my help...click the pic to register if you havent already

this post has been brought to you by the loser who decides to text me this October 5, 2008 at 2:51:24 AM..."U R real f*ck'd up (insert my government name here)!..I really didnt appreciate the disrespect. Featuring: Kanye West Lyrics

[Intro: Young Jeezy]
I put on...(x4)
I put on for my city, on on for my city (x4)

[Verse 1: Young Jeezy]
When they see me off in traffic
They say "Jeezy on some other shit"
Send them pussy niggas
Runnin straight back to the dealership
Me I'm in my spaceship,
Thats right I work for Nasa
This 7H is not a fraud,
Call that bitch my bodyguard
Call that bitch your bodyguard?
Yeah, thats my bodyguard
wear a lot of jewelry
Young dont' do security
what's whiter than a napkin,
Harder than a dinner plate
If you want it come and get it
You know I stay super straight
Ran up in my spots and now
I'm workin Out the Super 8
Know you niggas hungry,
Come and get a super plate
Y'all sing happy birthday,
Yeah I got that super cake
Hundred karat bracelet,
I use it like some super bait

[Chorus:Young Jeezy] (x2)
I put on for my city, on on for my city
I put on for my city, on on for my city
Put on (east side)
Put on (south side)
Put on (west side)
Put on

[Verse 2: Young Jeezy]
Half bag, top back,
Ain't nothin but a young thug
HKs, aK's, i need to join a gun club
Big wheels, big straps,
You know I like it super sized
Passenger's a redbone,
Her Weave look like some curly fries
Inside fish sticks, outside tartar sauce
Pocket full of celery,
Imagine what she tellin me
Blowin on asparagus,
The realest shit I ever smoked
Ridin through that Trap or Die,
The realest shit I ever wrote
They know I got that broccoli,
So I keep that glock on me
Don't get caught without one,
Comin from where I'm from
Call me Jeezy Hamilton,
Flyin down Campbellton
So fresh, so clean,
On my way to Charlene

[Chorus] (2x)

[Verse Intro: Kanye West]
I put on...(x3)
I put on for my city, I put on for my
I put on for my city, I put on for my city
On...

[Verse 3: Kanye West]
I feel like there's still
Niggas that owe me checks
I feel like there's still
Bitches that owe me sex
I feel like this
But niggas don't know the stress
I lost the only girl
In the world that know me best
I got the money and the fame
And that don't mean shit
I got the Jesus on a chain,
Man that don't mean shit
Cause when the Jesus
Pieces can't bring me peace
Sure I need just at least
One of Russell's nieces
On...I let my nightmares go
I put on,
Everybody that I knew from the go
I know hoes that was frontin
When they knew he was broke
They say damn,
Yeasy Yeasy, you don't know us no more
You got that big fame homie,
And you just changed on me
You can ask big homie,
Man the top so lonely
Ayee Aye
So lonely
Ayee Aye
Let me see
What we have tonight (what we have tonight)
I'm high as a satellite (satellite)
I see those flashin lights (flashin lights)
Cause every night (every night)
I put on

[Chorus] (2x)

[Outro: Kanye West]
Let me see
What we have tonight (what we have tonight)
I'm high as a satellite (satellite)
I see those flashin lights (flashin lights)
Cause every night (every night)
Let me see
What we have tonight (what we have tonight)
I'm high as a satellite (satellite)
I see those flashin lights (flashin lights)

So, Im not allowed to drink vodka anymore. I have defined myself by that lovely beverage for a long time and it has become apparent that as much as I love it and even though 80% of my intoxicated time is fab, the other 20% has caught up with me.
